Photoshop CS Upgrade and Windows 7

Hi,
I recently purchases a new laptop that has Windows 7 Professional 64 bit, I own Photoshop CS Upgrade that I previously ran on Windows Vista based machine.  I was able to install my CS upgrade on the Vista machine after first installing Photoshop 4 and Phooshop 5.0 Upgrade.  All of these versions I am the proud owner and have legitimate licenses.
Unfortunately, I am unable to install Photoshop CS Upgrade on my new Windows 7 Professional laptop becuase of the following:
- Windows 7 will not allow me to install Photoshop 4 and Photoshop 5.0.2 Upgrade prior to installing Photoshop CS or,
- Photoshop CS upgrade will not recognize the Photoshop 5.0.2 Upgrade CD and allow it to install.
Does anyone have any thoughts on how to proceed?
Best regards,
Don Barar

Hi Dan - My situation is nearly the same as yours.  I recently purchases a new desktop that has Windows 7 Professional 64  bit,   I own Photoshop CS Upgrade that I previously ran on my Windows XP based machine.  I previously used my Phooshop 5.0 license as the basis to install Photoshop CS upgrade.
When I tried to install Photoshop CS the first time I could not get by the User Agreement screen.  I kept clicking multiple "Agree" bottons and none of them worked. I then tried to load Photoshop 5 and it would not work in Windows 7 as it did in XP.  I then called Adobe support and they recommended checking out the Forums.
After spending some time reading the user forums, I went back and tried to load Photoshop CS again.  When I got to the User Agreement Svreen, I hit "Return" instead of clicking the "Agree" radio box.  I learned that "Agree" was the default and that simply hitting the "Enter" key worked.  The rest was easy.  I entered the serial number of Photoshop CS and then it brought up 3 options for recognizing my old software.  I chose the last option, then loaded my old Photoshop 5 disk on my CD/DVD  drive and it automatically reconized the old software (Without actually running the "Setup.exe file).  Then I took off the Photoshop 5 disc and remounted the Photoshop CS disc and continued with loading the Photoshop CS software.
So far Photoshop CS appears to be working fine on Windows 7.  The Adobe support person said that it had not been tested on Windows 7.  This was true with most of my old software and Photoshop CS was the last application on my list to get up and running.
Hope this helps you and some other users..

  • Photoshop CS6 upgrade and Windows Vista

I own Photoshop CS5 and Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit platform. Can I upgrade to CS6 ? Your upgrade ad and recent published info says that only platforms using Windows XP or Windows 7 are upgradable. What happened to Windows Vista ?

It works on Vista, even if it is not officialyl supported. Just be prepared that things like OpenGL support, tablet drivers etc. may act funny and some features may not work at all.

  • Install photoshop cs5 upgrade on windows 8

I have a new computer running windows 8.  I went to my account and dowloaded cs3, and installed it. I then tried to download and install my cs5 upgrade and it will not install.  It will unzip the files, but won't upgrade the software. I'm guessing it may have something to do with the windows 8 "install as administrator" irritation but I cannot figure out how to do this install as it's 2 files with a downloader.  For cs3 I just save it to my disc then right clicked and selected "run as administator".
How can I get my Photoshop CS5 installed?
    thanks

Extract the 7z file with WinZip, then run the setup.exe.

  • Photoshop Elements 7 and Windows 7

I am currently running Photoshop Elements 7 on a Dell machine with Vista 64.  When I bought the computer, Dell offered a free upgrade to Windows 7 which I have ordered.  If I install the upgrade to Windows 7, will my Photoshop Elements 7 run without major problems?
Thanks in advance for your assistance.

I just accomplished this without any real problems and am now running with my same license on the newly rebuilt PC.  Here is what I did ...
Originally my PSE7 configuration was set up last year on new Intel I7-based PC running Vista 64 bit version with a retail copy of the PSE7 software, i.e. not the upgrade version.  Once that was setup I imported my catalog from the older Adobe Photoshop Album on my previous system.  That put me at the place you are now, i.e. PSE7 on Windows Vista.
For this upgrade I puchased the upgrade version of Windows 7 and an additional second disk drive.  I installed Windows 7 onto the clean drive, giving me a dual-boot system for either OS.  While booted on the Vista drive, I used the easy-transfer method to write a backup of my Vista files to an external disk drive.  I then rebooted into the Windows 7 drive and used the Easy-transfer tool to reload the files from the external drive. (note; this easy-transfer included >200GB of music/video/image files so it ran for several hours for each phase of the transfer)
Once I verified the directory structure on the new Windows 7 setup, only then did I do the installation of PSE7.  That wnet flawlessly and relicensed without any problems.  Next I was able to open up my catalog in organizer and all of the images were intact.  Since then I have had no issues with the configuration.
So bottom line is you should be fine doing the upgrade regardless of whether you do the upgrade like I did to a new drive or an in-place upgrade overlaying your vista environment.  For the in-place upgrade I would strongly recommend you still do a backup of all of your images and their associated catalog(s) to an external drive.  Win7 is a vast improvement over Vista so I'm sure you won't regret the upgrade but I don't trust any vendor's software upgrade procedure, especially Microsoft so please do the backup first.

  • Photoshop Elements Upgrade for Windows 7

    Good day,
I have Photoshop Elemets 3 and Photoshop Premiere Elements 3, however since upgrading to a new computer running Windows 7, I am unable to reload the software.  How do I go about upgrading to a newer compatible version?
I am pretty clueless with PC stuff, so some clear direction would be appreciated!

Buy PS11 and PSE11 online from the Adobe website

or buy the boxed version from your local reseller.

  • Problems with photoshop elements 10 and windows 8

I bought photoshop elements 10 for my wife last year for Christmas.  She decided not to install it on our old computer because we knew that we were planning to replace the computer this year.  We finally got around to replacing it and the new computer came with Windows 8.  She installed her photoshop on it and she is having problems with it.  I'm wondering if there is a compatability problem with the windows 8?  Is there an update for the pse 10 that will make it work with windows 8?

PSE10 is said to be compactable with windows8. What kind of problem are you facing? Did you try launching after resetting preferences? to know more about reseting preferences, check http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/using/undo-redo-cancel-actions.html#restore_defa ult_preferences

  • 10.5.7 upgrade and windows log in errors

    Hi all
Hope someone can give me some feedback
I am running an Intel X-Serve which has been happily serving Mac's and Window's box's for the best part of a year. I upgraded the server to 10.5.7 over last weekend and all seemed good on Monday however yesterday several users ran into issues between log in and getting to the desktop.
The Wintel box's are all linked to the server via SMB and login to a domain, and the X-Serve is the only server on the local network.
Either the Windows box (All XP) could not copy files from the server and came up with an Error performing inpage operation. Or it could not load the roaming profile, either way Windows loads a temporary local profile for the user.
This is not all users just a handful
I have traced the issue to the users folders in /Users/profiles on the boot drive.
This issue seems to be how Windows syncs the info in the profile folder with the desktop.
Has anyone suffered this issue and knows a solution or workaround that does not involve me deleting the user off the server completely and rebuilding them at both the server and client ends? The profile only holds windows info, all files ( or at least they should be) are in home folders away from the users profile, so this is about allowing windows to log back into to the correct user on each Wintel box.
    Any help would be appreciated
If you need more info from me just post it and I'll get back to you
    Alex

Have you had any luck fixing the issue? I have 7 new Mac Pros running 10.5.7 and 42 new PC's with XP/SP3 and am having the profile sporadic corruption problem as well. Can't seem to find any information. Our previous 10.4 servers and last set of XP machines never had this problem.

The only upgrade to 3 is the 3.0.1 bugfix. Generally Auditio works fine with 32-bit W7, but results with 64-bit have, from the reports recieved, been variable. I wouldn't put Vista on a machine at all - it's dreadful.

You can audtenticate Audition on a total of two machines, but you are only allowed to use it on one at a time (it says in the licence conditions). You can transfer authentication though - so you could remove it from your old machine, and re-authenticate in on the new one.

  • ITunes 8 upgrade and Windows Vista

I tried installing the iTunes 8 upgrade and have not been able to get it to install correctly. When it completes the installation, it says that it needs to reboot my system, so I tell it to go ahead and reboot. Once the system is rebooted, I click on the iTunes icon and iTunes starts to try to re-install again. This happens repeatedly. Any thoughts?
    Thanks

After you restart the computer, when you try to open up iTunes, try getting it from your Start > Programs menu. If you can open it that way, drag it from that menu to your desktop to re-create your shortcut. Perhaps it was somehow linked to your installer file rather than your application .exe file?
    Dabbler-
Go into your Documents\Music\iTunes\ directory. Move the files called "iTunes Library.itl" and "iTunes Music Library.xml" to your desktop. Then, you should be able to open up iTunes. If so, click your File menu and choose Import (if running iTunes 8 it's File > Library > Import Playlist) and choose the iTunes Music Library.xml file that's been placed on your desktop.

Whenever any Apple products are sent in for service Apple makes it very clear that it is not responsible for personal data left on those machines, and not backed up elsewhere. I'd imagine (although I'm not 100% positive) it would work the same for software. You might be able to find more information in Apple's legal documentation at http://www.apple.com/legal/. This is a user-to-user forum, so I'd be surprised if many people knew the specifics offhand.

The iTunes downloads have always been free. Regarding the 2.1 update, specific to an iPhone or iPod touch... if you have an iPhone you don't need to pay for the update. Same for the iPod touch, 2nd generation (the one released this past Tuesday). If you have a 1st generation iPod touch for which you've already paid for the upgrade, the iPod software update files will remain on your computer, even if you uninstall/reinstall iTunes. In the event that you need to re-download a 2.x version, simply act as though you are going to pay for it again with the same Apple ID used to purchase it the first time, and iTunes will automatically prompt you to download it again for free.

  • Photoshop CS4 upgrade and Photographers offer

I want to take advantage of the photographers offer but realise I only have a Photoshop CS4 upgrade serial number having previously upgraded from CS.  Will this be sufficient to access the offer?

    Hi GrahamC16,
I did check almost all the relevan documents, there were no special reference about the Upgrade product serial number.

The best option will be proceed for purchase & check the eligibility . I have checked GrahamC16 email ID & found that he has already spoken with our chat support & have got almost similar response.

  • Photoshop Elements 10 and Windows 7 to Windows 8 upgrade

    Hi,
I have Photoshop Elements 10 installed on a PC running Windows 7.
I have registered to receive the Windows 8 upgrade later this month.
Does anyone know whether I should uninstall or deregister PE10 before upgrading the OS, and then reinstall or reregister PE10?
Or is Win8 likely to upgrade the PC, and PE10 will continue to operate satisfactorily afterwards.
    Thanks

    Hi,
The recommended solution is to first deactivate PSE (from Editor), uninstall it. Now upgrade your PC with Windows8 and then install PSE again and register it again.

  • HP Deskjet 9650 with Photoshop Elements 7 and Windows 7 not printing

I have a new Windows 7 computer and installed Photoshop Elements 7.0 on it, which works fine, except I cannot print.  I did the installation instructions to use the alternate driver 9800 and can print 8 1/2 X 11 Word documents, but I cannot print a 12X12 scrapbook page to save my soul.  The resume print button keeps blinking and it spits it out blank.  Any help?
