Photoshop CS2 Fails to open

Photoshop CS2 fails to open on two of our Macs. One is a G5 with Tiger, the other is a G4. I deleted the .psp file on the G5, tried to reopen, but it failed. Here is the error message.
EXC_BAD_ACCESS (0x0001)
Codes: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS (0x0001) at 0xad7c6007
Thanks in advance for your assistance.

It is usually enough to check it on the enclosing folder. Depending on which version of the OS you have, it should also by itself include enclosed content. In Tiger there is a choice (as far as I remember - I no logner have any machine with Tiger) to include the enclosed folders when you set permissions.

  • Photoshop CS5 fails to open pdfs

Photoshop CS5 fails to open some pdfs created in Indesign. The message 'Could not complete your request because of a program error' comes up. Is this posibly a system issue not seeing the file information or a fault in photoshop.

We can't know. We know nothing about your PDFs nor your system. This could be anything from genuine structural damage in the files to embedding issues with fonts, PDF security stuff or jumbled up color profiles or whatever. You have to provide a lot more details.

  • After downloading & installing application of adobe creative suite cs2 version 6,  screen of adobe photoshop cs2 is not opened by clicking icon . message is giving " ausba4.dll " was not present. Please guide me.?

I have downloaded & installed adobe creative suit cs2 version 6 but when I click the icon of adobe photoshop in desktop it is not opened & giving message " this application has failed to start because " ausba4.dll " was not found. reinstalling of the application may fix the problem " I have reinstall & opened many times but even then it is not opened. Please guide me accordingly.

I'd try disabling the Twain_32.8BA plugin in
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS2\Plug-Ins\Import-Export
You can disable the plugin by putting an ~ (tilde) in front of the name or moving the plugin to your desktop.
Then try photoshop cs2 and see if you still get the error message.
I suspect the error has to do with your scanner driver, since photoshop cs2 does not have an ausba4.dll

  • Photoshop CS2 will not open to double click in Snow Lepard

Since loading Snow Leopard I have been unable to open Photoshop files with a double click. Double clicking .psd file opens PS with the message "Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file." Right click "open with" gets the same result. I CAN open files through the file menu in PS. But, files opened via the file menu and saved as... will not open with a double click.
The "Open with" in the file info window reads "Adobe Photoshop CS2". Even forcing it to open in Preview and then back to PS CS2, sort of like hitting it with a hammer, does not improve the situation.
CS2 on and year old dual quad.
Before you knee jerk a "CS2, what did you expect..." CS2 seems to work fine once open. And I have access to another brand new iMac 24" with CS2 and Snow Leopard that does not have this problem, files open with a double click.
On my troubled machine the thousands of files in question opened yesterday, pre Snow Leopard. I have found a few PS files that are several years old that do open to a double click.
    Thoughts?

In a partial answer to my own question...
I have discovered that the Adobe CS2 files (as well as Illustrator CS2, Microsoft Office X, Silo, etc.) will open with a double click in some cases.
Files on my main hard drive (Mac pro dual quad with four one terabyte hard drives, Snow Leopard 10.6.1) is a RAID made up of two of the internal terabyte hard drives will not open with a double clip. (They do open via the file menu in the given program).
But files on non-RAID drives open with a double click as expected.
It appears that the RAID drive (Apple software RAID) is the culprit.
It is likely that a simple fix from Apple in the operating system to correct the opening of files with a double click from an Apple sotware RAID drive would solve the problem as the various programs all work fine otherwise with Snow Leopard 10.6.1.

I have an assignment due on Friday using Photoshop CC2014 which I just bought from Adobe. Every time I open it, a popup says that is has failed to open correctly and a program is stopping it from opening correctly and closes it down. I have tried reinstalling and updating my laptop. It still will not open correctly. I have a dell Windows 8 laptop and I just updated it to 8.1 version.  Please let me know as soon as possible if you have any ideas how to fix my problem.  Thank you,

  • Re-installing Photoshop CS2 fails

Because of some quirky behavior when launching Photoshop CS2, I decided<br />to re-install the application from the installation CD. I tried several times. Each time, when the installation is almost complete, a pop-up window informs me that: "Install Failed. The following install step failed: run postflight script for Adobe Photoshop SC2. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance."<br /><br />I wrote to Adobe Customer Service. Their response was:<br />"Please note, Creative suite 2 have been discontinued after the release<br />of Creative Suite 3. Therefore, you will not receive any technical<br />support via phone for this product. You can, however, post questions and comments regarding tryout software on the User-to-User Forums on the Adobe Web site."<br /><br />I would appreciate any insight as to why I cannot re-install CS2. My system details: Aluminum & Glass iMac, Intel Core 2 Duo, MacOSX 10.5.8, 320GB Maxtor HD, 1GB DDR2 SDRAM, read/write CD & DVD, FireWire 400 & 800. Available HD space: about 190GB.<br /><br />Thanks -- Larry <[email protected]>

    > Mac OS X 10.5.8
...is still a dream in Apple's eyes. See: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx1056comboupdate.html
But, as has been said, per Adobe, Mac OS X v10.5.x and CS2 have compatibility problems that will not be resolved by any further updates. Your best bet is upgrading to CS4 while there is still a price advantage in place.

  • Photoshop CS2 won't open...

I'm using a Mac G5 with the adobe creative suite 2 standard.  Since yesterday Photoshop has not been opening.. I click on the icon, it bounces up and down once then doesn't do anything else.  I don't know if its crashing or what... but all my other programs are working.. Illustrator, etc... now, I have not tried reinstalling the creative suite yet because I am not sure if I am going to need a pin number to install the programs again... I have the serial number that is on the box...but no registration number or anything like that.  So I'm just being cautious... don't want to uninstall and then not be able to reinstall the programs.   I think maybe any registration number might stay in the computer so long as the hard drive is not re formatted or anything like that.  I am the artist for a small screen printing factory and need Photoshop and illustrator to be able to do my job.  If this has happened to anyone else and you know of a way to fix it or any other possible solutions please help me out.
    Thanks
    Adam

Hi, Thanks for your suggestion, it did not work, but I have reinstalled the program without any problems and everything is working again.  Thanks anyway dude.

  • Photoshop CS2 Failed Download

I had purchased Adobe Photoshop CS2, came to realize that Adobe no longer supported activation (online or by phone).  I uninstalled and downloaded again from the Adobe site:  https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/entitlement/index.cfm?e=cs2_downloads
The Photoshop download is inoperable. My computer cannot see the program files (nor can Revo Uninstaller), but I tried to download a second time and Adobe says it is in place.  I also tried to repair the initial download to no avail.  Program will not launch or run.

    I've uninstalled and reinstalled twice.

  • Photoshop CS2 won't open on my Mac

I've been trying to download CS2 for while now, since I found it out it was free. But the problem is that everytime I try to open the file, it says that there has been and error in the installation. I mean, I download the file, it's right there, and it says 'Install Adobe Photoshop', I click on it, I fill all the spaces I have to fill but at the end it always says that there has been and error during he installation. This has happened to me for at least 6 times and I seriously want help.

CS2 is not free. If you never bought it in the past you are not using it legally. Otherwise CS2 is not compatible with contemporary operating systems and you have to live with that.

  • Photoshop CS2 doesn't open

I have been running CS2 on a Windows XP platform for years.  I can open all of the components except Photoshop.  Suddenly Photoshop starts to load and then while its going through the initialization process it shuts down and won't load.
I have tried uninstalling CS2 and then re-installing it, but that didn't help.
Any ideas about what is happening that prevents Photoshop from opening?  I also thought it might be my virus scanner and tried disabling it.  That didn't help either.
    Help!
    Thanks,
    Gary Aminoff

Pellissier - you need to do some system maintenance, start from scratch and re-install. I would recommend Onyx which will repair permissions as well as cache cleans and other maintenance tasks which may not have been done for a while. Then re-install Photoshop
Free download, and probably should be part of the operating system. lord knows why its not

  • Photoshop CC fail to open after update

I tried to update Photoshop CC, but got an error message saying the update had failed.  Now I can't open Photoshop CC at all.  The program displays an error message essentially saying that the procedure entry point could not be located.  Thoughts on how to fix this?
    Thanks for any help.

  • Photoshop CS2 crashes when opening selective color

Every time I try to open image/adjust/selective color the program crashes.
It has also started crashing after I save a file.
I have tried uninstalling and re-installing the program, but to no avail.
I'm using a Mac Mini OSX 10.4.1 with 1 GB ram.
I've been running CS2 on this computer for 2 years without a hitch.
Any fix or advice would be appreciated.

I would suggest updating to 10.4.11 as there have be many bug fixes since 10.4.1

  • Why won't Photoshop CS2 won't open after installation.

I've had Creative Suite Premium installed on my laptop for years and not had problems.  I installed it on my home desktop and the activation was accepted.  All other Suite programs work but Photoshop only goes so far as the blue window and the hourglass just sits there.  I'm working with XP Pro and when I open Task Manager Photoshop is shown as not responding.  I've tried to repair with the installation disk and I've tried to uninstall/reinstall twice but nothing seems to help.
Since I put the Suite on my laptop, the Installation disks have been on my book shelf.  What could possibly be preventing Photoshop from opening?
    Many Thanks in advance,
    Jim Lynn

What is shown in the blue window as loading when the thing freezes?
Have you tried resetting your preferences as described in the FAQ.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/375776?tstart=0
You either have to physically delete (or rename) the preference files or, if using the Alt, Ctrl, and Shift method, be sure that you get a confirmation dialog.
This resets all settings in Photoshop to factory defaults.   A complete uninstall/re-install will not affect the preferences and a corrupt file there may be causing the problem.

  • Photoshop CS6 fails to open images

I tried to open an image and received the Message: Could not complete your request because of a program error. However, when I run Vista in safe mode CS6 works OK

This is a known bug and has been reported many times in the forum.
The solution, weird as it sounds, is to make a generic printer driver your default printer.
If you don't have one, download it here:  http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=pdrv&platform=win
All part of the fascinating world of Photoshop CS3.
Regarding the update status, in PS go to Help > About to check the version; it should be 10.0.1.

  • Photoshop CS3 fails to "open" in Win XP after SP3 upgrading

In both my desktops: P5W Deluxe and P6T after I upgrade my Windows XP from SP2 to Sp3 I cannot open Photoshop CS3 (...Photoshop not respomding...)
I do not think the problem is with Photoshop because my desktop "SEARCH" also does not function.
I hope someone can suggest possible remedies.  When I RESTORE back to SP2 everything is OK. The reason I want to go to SP3 is the 2011 Turbotax "Home & Business" requires SP3!!!!
    I thank you
    Kosmas

Photoshop certainly can work with XP SP3.
I suggest making sure your drivers are all up to date.  For example, go to the web site of the maker of your video card and download/install their latest XP release for your hardware.
You may also want to reinstall Photoshop to ensure all it's prerequisite requirements are re-examined by the installer.
