Photoshop CS2 install issues

I recently got a new laptop and am not able to install my CS2 software. I originally had it on two computers but tried to remove and deactivate it off my older laptop. The program was succesfully uninstalled but the deactivation was not. I was also getting an error message informing me that the software could not be installed because the activation server was not functioning. So I downloaded the "fix" from adobe.com and now it says my serial number is invalid. I am extremely frustrated becasue after talking to customer support I was told that Adobe no longer supports CS2. I am unable to purchase any newer versions and I really need to get this software installed. Is there anywhere I can get support for this????

towards the bottom of http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/creative-suite-2-activation-end-life.htm l it says:
Sign in using your Adobe ID and download your application. Note the serial number (it is on the same page). Successful installation requires this serial number.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS2 Install

I am attempting to install Adobe Photoshop CS2, I know it is an old version, but I am unable to upgrade at this time.  However, I have the full version of Adobe Photoshop CS2, and when I run the install it states that it is looking for a previous version of Photoshop.  I have verified that this is not an upgrade only cd.  Please advise.

Thanks for trying to help out guys but after hours of toying with this thing it finally hit me like a brick wall.  I found a work around.
For anyone that may run into this issue in the future:
When you run the Adobe Photoshop CS2 install and it will not let you install due to looking for previous versions
Install Adoby Photoshop CS2 as the 30 day trial, which will install without any issues.
After the installation is completed then ender the serial number manually after that.
Not sure why it has to be a PITA about it, but it works.

  • Photoshop/Indesign cs2 install issues

Ok I just got my first Mac. The PC is six years old and slowly falling apart so I said why not spice it up a bit and get a Mac. Anyways...
I downloaded the trials of photoshop and indesign cs2 from Adobe. The installer starts and then starts to install, but it just quits after about ten seconds and says "please try installing again" both the photoshop and indesign (and i assume every other adobe install application) do this.
I read about the Version Cue issues, but that is not installed and that isn't an option in a custom install anyway.
This is kind of the reason I got the thing. Is a universal version coming out anytime soon?
Macbook pro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

A new UB version of Photoshop is expected @ spring 2007, since Photoshop is part of the Creative Suite, as is InDesign, I'd imagine Adobe will launch a UB Creative Suite around the same time, but when exactly in 2007, only Adobe can say.
Photoshop CS & CS2 installed without issue on my MBP, have to admit, I bought them on disc and didn't try the trial version - Problem could be the Adobe installer won't work properly under Rosetta on an IntelMac

  • Adobe Photoshop CS2 Installing Error

When I tried to Install for tryout version, it sometimes has an error. It says me to put the serial number in. Though it succeed it, it says like this : "Error 1311. Source file not found: C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\Photoshop_CS2_tryout\Photoshop CS2\Adobe(R) Photoshop(R) CS2\Data1.cab. Verify that the file exits and that you can access it.".
I verified that the file exits, and I could acces it. What is happening?!

    Hi ,
We really apologize for all the inconvenience which has caused you.
Simply put it in another folder. The path is too long and unnecessarily convoluted - folders inside folders inside folders....
In the meanwhile if these steps doesnt resolve your issues you can contact Adobe support by following the link below:

  • Unresolved Photoshop CS2 Twain Issue

    Hi,
I have an the issue with Adobe Photoshop CS2, when loading it crashes while building twain menu, if I remove the Twain Plugin from the plugins folder in Photoshop then Photoshop launches but this does not solve my problem as i can't scan from Photoshop now. I have read and attempted what is explained on this forum http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=7018724#7018724 but it does not solve my problem. I have uninstalled all Cannon software and all Photoshop related files from my mac and reinstalled with the latest drivers but still no luck. the Strange thing is that it was working fine a couple of days ago, nothing changed, it just randomly stopped working.
Can anyone please help me with this issue?? I have a cannon Perfection 3490Photo scanner. thanks

Hi, Reading your discussion I think it might relate to de issue I'm experiencing. (sorry for my language, I'm Dutch)
A week ago Adobe PhotoShop Elements 3.0 worked fine. Then HP ?helped? me installing my C5280 all-in-one printer, problems with creating PDF-Files. They advised me to delete de contents of the "Cashes-folder", as well a lot of files in de "Preferences", all to do with HP or Print.
Now, when I try to start PSE-3.0, I get this massage "The programm PhotoShop Elemenents is unexpected stopped" choose [Quit], [Report] or [Open again].
I have run the installation again, not working. I thrown the folder in the trash, emptied the trash and installed again, same result, not working. Downloaded trail-version PSE-6.0, same result, also not working.
Help from Apple and Adobe, same as mentioned, they blame each-other. so no help.
I'm nearly at the point of total re-install from OS X 10.4.4 but you have to know, " I love the MAC but I'm a knit-with for IT technology.
So, I hope somebody can help me, has a good idea before I throw myself in the unknown world of re-installation.
A little background; after 1000 crashes with my windows computer I have thrown it out and bought myself an Apple. Up to now, very satisfied!!! This is the first real problem, I hope I will not be disappointed so I can tell my "Windows-friends", Apple is still the best.
    Regards, Erik

  • Photoshop CS2 installation issue

I had to clone my hard drive, and then CS2 didn't work anymore. I downloaded the individual programs from http://www.adobe.com/downloads/cs2_downloads/index.html, and they installed and ran OK except for Photoshop. At the end of the install I got this error message: "Error 1402.Could not open key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\...Adobe Photoshop CS2 - {236BB7C4-4419-42FD-0409-1E257A25E34D}. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel." I tried it as the administrator, etc., but I keep getting this message. What can I do?

    Hello Jeff,
I am using Windows 7 Pro, and yes, all was operating well before the activation servers shut down. Also, as I said in the initial message, I was able to download and install the CS2 versions of InDesign, Illustrator, and Acrobat (downloaded from http://www.adobe.com/downloads/cs2_downloads/index.html ). When I try to install the version of Photoshop CS2 (downloaded from that same site), I get the error message (right at the very end of install) "Error 1402.Could not open key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\...Adobe Photoshop CS2 - {236BB7C4-4419-42FD-0409-1E257A25E34D}. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel."
I'm a high school teacher and I use these programs all the time, so this is becoming kind of inconvenient for me...
Thanks for sticking with me on this,
    A. S. Pels

  • Same Photoshop CS2 activation issue with new installer also.

Dear Adobe support team, we have downloaded the Photoshop cs2 from the link http://www.adobe.com/downloads/cs2_downloads/index.html. As per your suggestion I un-installed the older version and installed new version and tried to activate the product. But I have failed to activate as per your instruction. I want to get rid of activation message. Kindly also let us know what all do we have to un-install before the fresh installation.

    Thanks for your support.
We are able to active CS2 in administration login. Now there is no activation message.
Now there is a different message window popping up. Every time I launch Photoshop CS2, the adobe updater message is popping up. I am not able to take screen shot of the window. We tried deactivating this in msconfig options but no success.

  • Photoshop CS2 Install

I recently moved from a Gateway laptop w/ Windows XP to one of the new iMacs, and working on moving files, applications, and the like.
I have Photoshop CS2 with .exe files for setup, which I know doesn't work on my new system. I've researched some online and it seems like I have 2 choices: 1) install Windows XP and run Photoshop on a separate partition, or 2) use an emulator. I'd rather not install Windows XP, as that was part of the reason I switched to a Mac. I have been unable to find much information on emulators online as to if it would actually install Photoshop and run it. I thought I'd ask before spending too much time tinkering. I'd appreciate any insight or advice.
    Thanks in advance--
EDIT: I also tried putting the files through Stuffit Expander with no success

As far as I know there aren't any Windows emulators for the Intel Macs. You might want to give Parallels Desktop a try. Using it, you can run Windows as an application directly in OS X. There is a slight performance hit of course (you're running two operating systems at once), but from what I hear its performance is very impressive.

  • Weird Photoshop CS2 Crashing issue

    Weird issue:
Mac Pro - When trying to print a file it quits instantly and you have to restart Photoshop... Now, this only happens AFTER you crop the image... if you print the unaltered photoshop file it prints fine.
    Any ideas?

you know what, i have a MAJOR problem with photoshop on my mac pro, and no one seems to want to admit it even though i can duplicate the problem over and over again. Rosetta or not, WHY IS THE CS3 BETA Crashing too? it isn't running under an emulator.
how about you explain that one?
here's the deal, the folks at the apple stores can say how much that their machine works fine with OTHER apps, but in reality, a lot of folks and pros (people doing a creative job for a living - like me) use their machine for one thing. in my case, photoshop. and the simple fact is this: my mac pro does not run photoshop reliably, predictably, or with a shred of stability.
and since you want to go and blame rosetta or some other funky junk like that, i spit on that idea also. FACT: i run photoshop CS2 LIKE A MAD DOG on my MacBook. that is correct, my MACBOOK, not macbook pro... (mostly because my mac pro has been in the shop for the past month and a half and i was afraid to use it before that because i put a raptor in it, thought i fixed the issues and then it kept on doing it)
the mackbook never quits, in either CS2 or CS3. and i mean NEVER. granted the fan screams up to 6000rpms and it is slow, but it does not quit, and it is running in rosetta... HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE WITH INFERIOR HARDWARE???
my case may be extreme. but i have no PPC files migrated over, i did a zeroing out of my drives countless times, and the crashes STILL happen. it makes me sick that one could blame ME for the whole thing when it is undeniably a piece of hardware lurking at fault.
and while we are at it, let me ask this: HOW COME MY LITTLE MACBOOK WILL NEVER QUIT RUNNING CS2 or the CS3 Beta which is being run under THE EXACT SAME OS? it is by specification a far inferior machine... and by my wallet, it costs about $4000 less than my Mac Pro set me back. why don't you explain that? why don't you explain how Rosetta can run photoshop so horribly pitiful on a $5500 machine and so swimmingly on my little MacBook (WITH NO FRIGGIN VIDEO CARD!!!!!!!!!!!)
you sound like the genius who tells me that my desktop runs all these other programs just fine so there is nothing wrong with the hardware and then i take the machine home and it can't run photoshop worth a darn. i didn't buy my machine for any other purpose than to run photoshop. and mine CAN'T!!!!!!!! it doesn't matter if i have 30 programs running or none, if i have items in the startup tray, or none, if i have 20 photos 2000 photos or 2, it can not and does not run reliably, reasonably, or with any resemblance of stability.
very plainly, i bought my machine to run photoshop. it doesn't. there isn't a phantom setting, or some other garbage wrong, it's the mac pro. run all the apps you want as well as you want, but try to run what you need to make money and i guarantee you, you'll be sitting in front of your macbook.
so are you going to tell me now how CS3 and Leopard will fix all this too? like the rest have?
what a sick joke, a $5500+ sick, pathetic joke

  • Photoshop CS2 activation issues

I recently had to purchase a new hard drive for my computer and had to reinstall my copy of Photoshop CS2.  It will not activate or allow me to use it.  The Adobe website shows the product is registered to me...so I see no reason for all this trouble.  I have spend hours trying to reinstall from the original CD as well as trying from the Adobe website.  I am currently one frustrated person who is VERY upset with Adobe at this point.  If this is their way of telling me to buy a newer version of their product - it will NEVER happen.
Any usable input would be greatly appreciated.  This is certainly holding up my photo work.  Thank you in advance!!

The activation servers for all CS2 applications are gone now, but Adobe has made activation free versions of the CS2 apps available here, http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/creative-suite-2-activation-end-life.htm l.

  • CS2 Install Issues Please at least view

I am trying to install CS2 and I know the first answer will be to upgrade but at this point I can't, I will, but right now I can't. When I try a custom install for only photoshop, indesign and Illustrator it looks like it is trying to install the bar moves along then straight to the end says it was installed but nothing is there.
When I do a full install of the suite it shows as a normal install except these programs are still missing
This is on a xppro box nothing special about it
Thanks  in advance for any suggestions

  • Photoshop CS4 install issues

I have a computer I just rebuilt with a new board, processor and memory.  I installed a clean copy of Windows Vista Business on a freshly formatted 300 gig hardrive.  I previously had purchased a download copy of Photoshop CS4.  I downloaded my software and when it began to extract the files it went about a third of the way and then I got an error message.
"A problem occurred while extracting some files.  Check available space on your computer and the write privileges on the destination folder."
The drive has 252 GB free and I am in an Administrative account.  I have redownloaded the software.  Emptied my temp files and checked the disc for errors.  I am stumped.  The folder it is extracting to is on my Desktop.  Before attempting to extract for the 3rd time I deleted folder.  Anyone have any ideas.

But have you configured it appropriately? Extraction errors usually point to either to insufficient temporary space in your user temp directory or a missing component required by the installer, which could be a part of MSInstaller itself or an auxiliary component such as .NET runtimes or MSVC DLLs...

  • Photoshop CS4 Install Issue (corrupt file)

As someone else below had this problem, and apparently solved it, I'm reposting here because I haven't solved it, and the issue doesn't seem to be going away like it did for them.
I purchased the CS4 PS upgrade from Adobe's site.  After downloading it (using the latest non-beta firefox) I double click the EXE file (of the two it downloads) and get an error stating "A problem occured when extracting some files. Check available space and write privledges"
My drive has over 300gb free space, and I'm running as admin.
I have tried disabling UAC and turning off my AV software to no avail, re-installing and redownloading both with no UAC/AV going.  The gentleman (kfallsbob) that had this problem solved it by repeatedly downloading the software until he got a good copy.  After this revelation was made, I downloaded the trial version of the latest winzip to get to the .Z7 file and see if it was valid.  It extracts part way and gives a data error, so it appears the file is corrupted or becomes corrupted during the DL process.
I have downloaded this 7 times so far.  I'm reaching the limit of my patience.
Does anyone have a solution for this?  I submitted a request for help through the website, but apparently the case has dissapeared.  I will try calling when I get home, but I often work late.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
    Thanks.
System:  Intel E6700 running vista ultimate 64 with 8gb ram

Looked through that, looks like it's for non Akamai (the DL manager) downloads since those bypass the whole internet cache and whatnot.  I tried digging up the FTP site, but looks like they host only their free apps there (go figure...) I'm hoping that they have some alternate DL method I can get to, but still haven't heard from them.  Unfortunately phone support is only around until 5pm pacific time and strangely enough, I work until 5pm pacific time...  I would love to see a company that has people around later than normal work hours for support!
    WHEEEEE!
    Edit:
Given that the regular install process and winzip both choke at about 4% through the extraction process, I'm going to call that sufficient as far as unzipping the compressed file goes.

  • Adobe Photoshop 9 Install Issues

I upgraded to a new laptop.  I can't install a licensed version of Adobe Photoshop Elements 9.  I receive this message below.  Since its a new laptop, there isn't a previous version installed, and since I'm installing from a CD
it can't be corrupt.  How can I install my licensed version of Adobe Photoshop 9 on my new laptop.  My old laptop had hardware problems, so I needed to upgrade.

I downloaded (5 times) Adobe Reader 9. At 98.7% of the installation process, I get this error message.."The feature you are tying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable."
"Click OK again or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package "AdbRdr812_en_us.msi" in the box below.
I have no idea where this file may be, and fully expect Adobe to be able to find its own files!
Since attempting to download Reader 9. I have lost the ability to read .pdf files online, with the error message Can not launch Acrobat".
After Acrobat -says- it's installed itself, I get this error message...
"Error 1714.The older version of Adobe Reader 9 cannot be removed.
    Contact your technical support group."
I am my only technical support group, and really really don't care for this rigamarole, losing "features" I had.
    What is going on?
