  • Illlustrator/Photoshop CS2 registration

I had installed Illustrator and Photoshop CS2 (Education versions, if that makes a difference) to my desktop somewhere around 6 years ago. My desktop finally died on me, so I never had the chance to uninstall either program. Now, when reinstalling on my Dell laptop (which worked just fine) I can't register the program. After researching I now know there have been "glitches" and there are downloads on the Adobe site, but I'm confused. I've got the discs. They were purchased in a store, not downloaded illegally. My disc says I have 30 days to register or Illustrator/ Photoshop CS2 cannot be used.
    My questions:
-Should I ignore the discs entirely (uninstall from laptop) and download from the link on Adobe (https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/entitlement/index.cfm?e=cs2_downloads) instead?
-Will this internet download of the programs expire and cause issues with current projects?
    - How will Adobe know I've actually payed for the products? Do I enter my serial number or customer ID anywhere?
Thank you so very much for your time.
    Stephanie

    Hi StephanieLB
I believe From the link you can download the Trials and you can activate them using the Serial Number.
When you put in the Serial Number to Activate it, Adobe Will recognize if this is a Valid Serial key or will throw an Error msg.
Also, One Serial Key Allows you to install any product on 2 machines.

Can someone please help a friend of mine get a permanent registration key (not a trial key that expires in 30 days) to replace his lost registration key for Adobe Photoshop CS2? His previous hard drive crashed and he no longer has his registration key. This is vital for his wedding business.

Thanks to everyone for the tips on my CS2 question. It turns out in the end it was some plug-in filter software that was causing the glitch, not a lack of an Adobe registration key. As for why he still uses CS2, it does the job for him, so that's all he needs.

  • Problems with my registration of Photoshop CS2

I have owned different versions of Photoshop over the years, and the latest version I have is CS2.
I have it installed on two computers, one running Windows XP and the other running Windows Vista.
Apparently,  Adobe has me under two IDs, both  using the same email address,  but with different physical addresses, my old one and my new one.   All my registration information is apparently stored under the one with the old address, but I can only get access to the one with the new address when I go to the Adobe website.   That one doesn't see my registrations.
For the past several years I've worked primarily under Linux, using gimp, but I just got a new printer, which is not supported under Linux, so I have to use Windows and Photoshop to print.
Every time I start Photoshop CS2 on the second computer, it tells me I need to register.  If I do---needlessly I presume---it accepts the registration, but then the next time I start  the program, it does the same thing over again.
I can live with this, but if there is some simple way to fix it, I would like to do so.  I've spent a lot of time talking to Adobe on the phone or using chat online, but haven't got any help on this matter.
Also, I hope to make some changes to my system in the near future.    First, I will probably upgrade both computers to Windows 7.  Second, I may replace one of the computers with a new computer.  Finally I may  upgrade to Photoshop CS5.
Can anyone give me any advice about how to go about these things so as to end up with two legitamate versions of Photoshop on two computers, and so as to avoid problems..    I am worried that I may have to spend hours on the phone trying to get it done.

MTSTUNER's advice is right on in this case.  I've seen problems with the older versions of Photoshop not being able to write to their installation areas because of UAC.
If Run As Administrator doesn't work, one additional thing you can try is to turn the UAC level down to the lowest setting, run Photoshop once, then return UAC to its default (or leave it off, your choice).

  • Photoshop cs2 crashes and reboot windows xp without any error message when I try to open a file

    Hi,
I downloaded the trial version (assessment for thirty days) of Adobe Photoshop cs2. Once installed the trial version, the program works correctly, except for a basic function: to open files and modify them. Any image files (jpeg-gif-png-tiff-bmp-psd) on press command FILE>OPEN, or Ctrl+O, to open it, sends the system in crash, and without any warning message, send to "restart" the operating system, in my case , windows xp.
I use also photoshop cs, and it works correctly and allows to open file image also; but not with cs2.
    What's the problem?

The error message I see in a Event Viewer after the program crashed is the following:
    Event Type: Error
    Event Source: Userenv
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 1041
    Date: 22/03/2009
    Time: 09:05:52
    User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
    Computer: PENTA
    Description:
Windows cannot query DllName registry entry for
{CF7639F3-ABA2-41DB-97F2-81E2C5DBFC5D} and it will not be loaded. This is most likely caused by a faulty registration.

  • Re install Adobe Photoshop CS2

    31/05/2013.
The question is for someone with Photoshop CS2 on Windows 7.
I presently had to reformat my hard drive to get rid of a bug that left me with a black screen.
After all is reset started to ri install my old programs. One of them is Adobe Photoshop CS2.
After installing CS2 I tried to register it, and Adobe come up saying we don't support this program any
Go to such and such a sight for help.
I have triad that and do not find a satisfactory solution to register.
They say there is a free version somewhere.
If that is the case why not organize that so the old program on my disk gust install and validate at the same time.
Adobe have all my details and how many programs I use from them with registrations. ( About 10-12 programs.)
Why make it harder to old customers of Adobe??? I like CS2 for a number of reasons. Some functions there not in CS5 or different and not as handy.
Or do they want us to migrate to a different supplier of Photo Organizing Programs.?????????
    Tank You for the answere.
    Loui

    Loui,
The server that handled the activation for CS2 applications has been decommissioned, put out of service for good.
"Effective December 13, Adobe disabled the activation server for CS2 products and Acrobat 7 because of a technical glitch. These products were released over 7 years ago and do not run on many modern operating systems. But to ensure that any customers activating those old versions can continue to use their software, we issued a serial number directly to those customers.  …"
That's why you need to download Adobe the special version of CS2 made available in order to support cases like yours.  That special version does not call the mother ship for activation at all, so it requires no activation.  It does come with a new serial number, as yours will NOT work.
    You'll find them here:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/creative-suite-2-activation-end-life.htm l
I wish folks didn't come to these user-to-user forums asking why Adobe does this or doesn't do that.  As users, we don't know—and we don't care.  You are not addressing Adobe here.
As an astronomy professor told me half a century ago:  I cannot explain the Universe to you; I can only describe it.

  • Error message on opening Photoshop, CS2 installation

On starting Photoshop I get amessage saying that my registration details or serial number is incorrect and then the application closes. Can I update my details or must I reinstall. Thanks

You are welcome to try the solution listed in Error: "...user name, organization, or serial number is missing or invalid..." when you start Photoshop (CS2 on Windows) - http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/error-user-name-organization-or.html.
These solutions worked with Windows XP I am unsure if they will allow you to resolve your current difficulties under Windows 7.

  • Photoshop CS2 installation failures

I have been having trouble with Photoshop CS2 installation. PS was working fine bur 3 days ago told me there was a serious error and I had to reinstall which I have tried 5 times but it gets to the end and tells me a file is missing and to quit which I do but no PS. Adobe told me to create a disc image using disk utility and install from that. Still failed. I had to install on another bootable disc with 10.4.0 and it worked so there is a software conflict somewhere, probably with the latest security update (2007) but I do not want to have to reformat my HD and reinstall ALL my software from scratch and then NOT update to latest software without knowing what is going on. Can anyone offer any suggestions please.
Adobe say there is no conflict issue with latest security update. Have tried all sorts of install methods but it always fails at the last hurdle!
    David

Firstly I am not installing the whole suite of software, only PS CS2 so Version Cue is not a problem.
Adobe also say there is no conflict issue with Apple security update and CS2. They tell me about making sure I have admin read and write for registrations database but this asumes I have PS installed which I cannot
Secondly I tried the CS3 Beta download which incidentally is 685Mb and it will not mount, so I will have to try another lengthy download

  • Photoshop CS2 un-installed and re-installed without de-activavtion. Activation window refuses to procede.

? Photoshop CS2 on Windows Vista. On start-up PS refuses access. Decided to un-install and re-install, unfortunately not thinking of de-activation. Now, on start-up, window offers registration which always fails. I am not offered help>de-activation, or help>transfer activation. Help>Adobe Forum!

Did you use the right serial number? The windows download is 348MB the Mac download is 441MB If your was 380MB there may be a problem with what you downloaded... If you can not get it to install you may have to contact Adobe customer Support. However CS2 is no longer suppoorted.

  • How do i fix my photoshop cs2 for windows 7?

I got a new comp thats is running windows 7 and installed my photoshop cs2 software and at first everything seemed fine until i noticed some differences in the performance. When i try to draw witht he brush tool it is way to slow, for example i draw a line and i pick up the mouse but the photoshop is still drawing the line that should have been done in one mouse stroke. This is very annoying and it makes it difficult to draw and create things. Also the registration form pops up every single time i open photoshop and even though i keep registering or click do not register that window just keeps showing up. My computer has 8GB of ram and 1 TB of hard drive so its not a memory issue. If anyone knows any solution please help.

You are not running as administrator, I think, which may be required and the only way to properly work and register. Also check for compatibility mode settings, UAC and DEP, all of which may require to be adjusted for a legacy app like PS CS2 to run properly. Also turn off Aero and switch to a conventional visual theme. The brush issue may be related to that or is a more generic problem with your graphics card and mouse config, but since you didn't provide any info on that, it will be hard for anyone to advise.

  • Photoshop CS2 Registering

I have a legitimate copy of Photoshop CS2 but yet I now cannot use it. Being as the registration servers are now not registering this product I am informed that my CD is no longer of any use and I have to download a version which does not need registration from this page of Adobe's web site:-
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/creative-suite-2-activation-end-life.htm l
I suppose that's fair enough, but now it seems I can only download this version if I live in the USA.
When I click on stage 2 of stage 2 (Download and install CS2 applications) where I select the language (English), an application page appears in which I cannot change the Country / Region. The default setting is United States and I am then asked to select a State ….. but I don't live the US of A! These are required fields.
Am I missing something here? Shall I just eeny-meeny-miny-moe a state and put my UK post code in? Will that work?
    Richard

    Thanks Trevor, quote:-
"It also feels just plain wrong that the top of the page that link takes you to asks you to choose from 16 different languages.  That doesn’t gel with a USA only option to download the file."
That's exactly what I thought at first but then on the other hand all those langauges are probably spoken in the USA.
I've gone through it with a fine tooth comb and I just cannot see what I'm missing. I've uninstalled Photoshop, I go to stage 2 (Download and install CS2 applications) and stage 2 of that stage asks me to choose a language, I click on English and get a form to fill in. When I get down to Country/ Region there is no choice, I cannot choose my country. It is set at United States and I cannot see any choice to go to a British version of that page.
Perhaps everyone from other countries have just picked a state at random, put in their own post code and it has worked, I don't know.

And how can I activate Photoshop CS2(for windows) on the new computer?

  • Registered Photoshop CS2 but have not received complimentary benefit as mentioned

Recently I registered Photoshop CS2 product I bought in 2005, and as mentioned in the adobe leaflet documentation that came with the software there is a complimentary benefit after registration of either a free Garamond Premier Pro Font, 2 Free issues of Photoshop User,  a Layers magazine, or 60 minutes of additional video training. While I assume I registered the software previously I registered again, but did not receive a link to the complimentary benefit via email. I save all my photoshop files, but as I do not have the compilmentary benefit as mentioned above on my PC, I would appreciate any info on receiving it.
    Regards
    Je112

My thinking is that it is too late for the benefit. All you can do is call cutomer support and see if they will honor it. But they would have to go back in their records four years just to find out. For all I know they could keep all their old records in a warehouse someplace. So they may just feel generous and give you the benefit or say your out of luck.

  • Need Photoshop cs2 download

I just updated my computer and need to transfer my photoshop cs2.  Where can I get the download.

Will it is likely that it is having difficulty writing to the Adobe Registration Database.  You can find details regarding it's location at Error "user name, organization or serial number is missing or invalid" |Photoshop CS2 | Mac OS - http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/startup-error-photoshop-cs2-mac.html.
