Photoshop CS2 Saving a file as .jpg

I recently installed Photoshop CS2 in my Windows 8.1 machine and now when I create an image in PHotoshop I don't have an option for saving the file as a .jpg in the drop down menu  Can anyone help?

With CS2, you have to make sure the image is flattened, there are not paths, no extra channels, in RGB colorspace, and 8bit.  The current versions of PS does this for you, but not CS2.
BTW, you said you just installed CS2, which is a very old program.  I hope you have a license for it.  See this thread:

It's the level of compression. Lower number, more aggressive compression, more visual artifacts.
Aside from that you should never use jpeg as a working format. The compression is destructive and cumulative, and the file deteriorates every time you resave it.
Use TIFF or PSD, and if you need jpeg save out a copy as a single final step.

the file is not compatible with this version of photoshop / CS2 error -- Same File : CS6 no error / CS2 error , I need trouble shooting method, Please

Save with Maximize Compatibility in CS6.
Choose Edit > Preferences > File Handling (Windows) or Photoshop > Preferences > File Handling (Mac OS).
From the Maximize PSD and PSB File Compatibility menu, choose any of the following:
      Always
Then re-save your file so it can open in CS2

  • Photoshop stopped saving "PNG" files

    Hi All...
My photoshop stopped saving PNG files today. Weird!
I reinstalled my software, all disc's, and it still won't save. It says there is a 'program error".
    Any one have any thoughts?
    Thanks.

Please describe the process in more detail (including OS etc.).
    Boilerplate-text:
Are Photoshop and OS fully updated and have you performed the usual trouble-shooting routines (trashing prefs by keeping command-alt-shift/ctrl-alt-shift pressed while starting Photoshop after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences you’ve changed, 3rd party plug-ins deactivation, system maintenance, cleaning caches, font validation, etc.)?

  • Saving a file in jpg max resolution (12) PH cc

    Hi there,
Recently I've changed my laptop and re-installing Photoshop CC in its last version.
When I gonna save a file as JPG automatically it gives me back "8" like quality of image and not "12" . In the other Mac it gives me back all the times 12 and there's no problem to do mistakes saving a file.
Is there a change to do into sets-up ?
    Mac user.
    Cheers
    Mattia

A workaround is to use File->Save As...->Change the file type to JPG->Save, a JPEG options window should come up, just move the slider to the far right, or type in 12 into the box to the right of the slider.

  • Photoshop CS2 not opening files

I have been having this problem for several weeks now. When ever I try to open any file in Photoshop CS2, it just spools the little rainbow circle and never opens the file. THankfully, I still have Photoshop CS on my computer so I can run things through that. There seems to be no rhyme or reason as to why it doesn't open my files. It can be psd files, jpg files, low res, high res, directly from my computer or from my FireWire hard drive connected to my computer.
Any ideas on what's going on?
    thanks in advance!

  • Photoshop CS2:  Saved Images Are Too Bright

Hi, I currently have a Photoshop CS2 problem that I need fixed.
When I go to save my files as a .PNG, .JPG, or any other file type (minus PSD), the images come out way too bright. But just by looking at the shortcut to the image, it looks exactly the same as it does in Photoshop. I'm currently having it at RGB Mode and 8 bit/channel settings. I've tried to mess around with the Color Management settings but with no luck. Can anyone help me out with this one?

bright where? outside of photoshop, like in a browser? you probably need to recalibrate your monitor, for a start.
bumping this for you in the meantime.

  • Error saving psd file to jpg file HELP?

I have PS version 9.0.2 I can't save psd files to jpg all of the sudden...I live in Escondido, California and had to unplug everything when told to evacuate for the fires. Do I need to reinstall PS or ??? something about dumping preferences, how do I do that?  Need a hero!

Yes, it's a bug in the mac version of PSE 9. Just opening the Saving Files preference causes pse to stop appending the file extension. You can either enter it manually, or quit the editor, relaunch it while holding down command+shift+option and keep the keys down till you see a window asking if you want to delete the settings file. You do. Then never go to that particular preference again.

  • Saved psd file as jpg by accident and closed photoshop.

hi, I have saved my logo as a jpg file instead of psd and closed photoshop, now I do not have any layers to edit my project. Please help me if this is possible to fix.

No, you only have what is in the JPEG. This is why you are forced to save a COPY when saving JPEG, so you still get a warning to save when you quit.

  • Olympus E-3 and Photoshop CS2 .ORF Raw Files

I've recently purchased an Olympus E-3 (previously owned E-330). I use CS2 and Windows XP Media. I am new to shooting RAW images and just got back from a trip where I shot RAW (.ORF) images.
I updated my DNG converter and Camera Raw to 3.7 (as that is the highest level supported by CS2). The list of supported cameras include the E-3. But I still get the error message that it can't complete your request because it is not the right kind of document.
I try to use the DNG Converter and get a message there was an error parsing the image.
What am I not understanding? Since the E-3 should be supported in Camera Raw, why am I getting this error message? I really enjoy the flexibility of photoshop Camera Raw and wish to continue.
What is the best and easiest way to open these files in Photoshop? I am stuck with a ton of .ORF images that I cannot open. Please help!

I am now assuming ACR is the the same as Camera Raw (and please correct me if I am wrong). But I have tried the latest DNG converter 4.5 and Camera Raw 3.7 in my Common Files/plug ins folder.
    >The way you phrase this seems to indicate that you somehow try to open the files directly "using" the DNG converter. You have to convert them first, so that you have two sets of files, one .ORF and one .DNG.
I tried going through bridge to open in camera raw and it is dimmed. I tried double clicking on the .orf file and get the original "not the right kind of document error". How to you "convert them first" as mentioned in the quote above.
Before all I had to do was double click on the .orf file and Camera Raw opened or I just used Adobe Bridge and double clicked. What steps should I follow now?
Again any assistance would be greatly appreciated

  • Saving psd file as jpg

    Hello all -
I have recently upgraded from PSE–3 to PSE–9.0 on my Intel MAC running OSX 10.5.8.
With PSE–3, when I wanted to save a psd file as a jpg, I would click File/SaveAs, and in the subsequent window select JPG.  When I did that, the file name at the top of the window changed from xxx.psd to xxx.jpg and the resulting saved file was, in fact, a jpg.
When I attempt the same thing with PSE–9, the file name changes from "xxx.psd" to "xxx copy.psd".  The resulting file is saved as a jpg, but with a ".psd" extension.
I went to PSE–9's 'Saving Files ...' Preferences window. I changed the 'Append File Extension:' option from 'Never' to 'Always' and clicked 'OK'.  When I reopened that window, 'Append File Extension' was still set to 'Never'.  I have been unable to save the 'Always' option.  Thus the renamed files have always been "xxx copy.psd".
Have I been missing somthing?  Is there something else I should do?  Or is it a bug in PSE–9?
    TIA for any thoughts -
    - Ddgt

  • Saving .psp files as .jpg?

Hi! I am working on a blog banner on the 30day trial version. I have created a .psp file and need to save it as a .jpg file. How do I do this? The File>Save For Web & Devices option is grayed out. I have flattened the image, but that didn't help. I'm sure it's something simple, but I have no idea what to do next!
    Thanks,
    Cindy

    Cindy,
Glad that you got it sorted, and thanks for reporting. It is likely to help someone else in time.
    Good luck,

  • Photoshop Not Saving 3D Files?

    Hello,
Recently, I created an image in Photoshop. That image was made to appear as if it was 3D by duplicating the original image, rotating it, and putting it on the back of the first layer. However, when I go to import it into After Effects, only the original layer shows...
    Any ideas?
Running Windows 8.1, Adobe Collection CS6
    Thanks,

  • CS4 saved .tif files cannot be read by other programs

    I recently upgraded Photoshop from CS2 to CS4 (11.0.1).
If I use CS4 to save a large multi-layered Photoshop .psd file as .tif (Layer/Flatten image/Discard hidden layers),  (File/Save as .tif, LZW, Interleaved, IBM PC) the resultant .tif file cannot be read by many other programs.
File viewers (Faststone, MS Paint, QT Picture Viewer, Windows Photo Gallery) either fail to display the images, display the images incorrectly, or display a black screen.
Neat Image fails to open the files due to incorrect bit depth.
(Faststone shows the bit depth as 40 bits).
PTLens fails to open the files with the dialog "Only RBG images are supported".
This has become a significant problem, since I routinely distribute images to others as .tif files.
Similar Photoshop CS2 saved .tif files open with all the above viewers/programs with no problems. (no longer have CS2 installed)
    Any workaround???
    Thanks

What color mode is the image?
      RGB color
    What bit depth?
      8 bits/channel
    Does the image include transparency?
      no
Does the image have any alpha channels?
      no
How large is the file on disk? (most apps won't read files over 2 Gig)
      165MB

  • Unable to see DNG files in Photoshop CS2

    Hi:
I am using Photoshop CS2 in Windows XP Pro and have *.CR2 pictures taken with Canon EOS 40D.
    I downloaded Camera_Raw_3.7.zip and extracted Camera Raw.8bi to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS2\File Formats
I downloaded Adobe DNG Converter ver. 4.3.1 and converted the Canon CR2 files to DNG files.
I can see the pictures in Adobe Bridge CS2 1.0.4.6 fine.
However, when I open Adobe Photoshop CS2 and try File/open, the drop down does not show any selection for DNG files. If I try to physically drag a file into Photoshop, I get the message that the extension is not supported.
Upon opening Help/About Plug-In, I do not see Camera raw anywhere in the long list.
What do I need to do to bring DNG files into Photoshop?
    Thanks.

If you don't see Camera Raw in the list it usually means that it is not in the correct folder or the it might be damaged.
It looks like you listed the correct folder at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS2\File Formats
When you navigate to that folder do you see Camera Raw.8bi listed? It might only say Camera Raw, depending on how you have Windows set up.
Did you restart Photoshop after putting the filter into the File Formats folder?
