Photoshop CS2 Tools Keep Disappearing.
Can you hear me cursing and screaming from where you are sitting? I've had two unrelated problems the past few days, and as a result have been totally stuck!!!
The most recent problem was my inability to log into the Adobe website at all. It did not recognize my user name and insisted my password was incorrect. But when I had Customer support e-mail them to me, they were exactly what I had been using. As a result, I was unable to reach the forum to ask for help.
Same thing happened today, until I finally gave up and changed the info in my account. Then before I even had a chance to test them, I was logged in. Sure would like to know what happened there.
Meanwhile, I've been struggling with disappearing tools in Photoshop. I first noticed the problem several weeks ago, when the tools disappeared after each individual action, requiring that I return to the widnow menu and reactivate them.
But it finally came to a head yesterday, when the tools did not show up at all after I clicked on them in Windows. All I could see was the small rectangle at the top of the tool box, which links to an ad for CS4. Couldn't reach the forum yesterday, so I started Googling for help; found a couple of suggestions and somehow managed to rest the tools. Was feeling pretty proud of myself for figuring it all out . . . until today, when the same thing happened. But since I was basically just pushing buttons yesterday, I couldn't replicate the solution. Tried removing the preference files and clicking on reset tools, all to no avail. Then wasted 2 more hours trying to login for help.
sure hope my neighbors couldn't hear my shouts and screams.
I know you guys can help me. Please don't let me down.
Very true. You'd think as much as they charge people for their software,
they'd give a better (free included) help and tutorial than they do. I have
Creative Suite 2, purchased new in 2006 and they already no longer support
it, and won't hardly give a decent answer about it. Kind of have to find my
answers from techie guys, forums, guess work, etc. I've had CS4 offered to
me for free, but turned it down. I hope some of the competition gets far
enough ahead of the game to take some of their market share...because all
Adobe is interested in is the bottom line...big business, etc., not the little
guy in the trenches. Of course, there is more available if you have a Mac.

Thanks Doug.
I don't know if anyone other than the first person who responded to my
dilemma (whom I thanked) ever suggested a solution, but by the time they did,
I had already solved the problem myself.
I should have made a note of how I achieved that — but all I remember is
finding a screen that asked if I wanted to restore all the tools to
default. After a few tries, I finally was successful and have been
trouble-free ever since.
As for reading the manual . . . what manual? The only one I recall seeing
was online, which has never worked for me. While it's unlikely I ever would
sit down and read a hard cover edition from cover to cover (because my
memory is not good enough to absorb all that info and recall it under pressure
when I need it most). . . online help has never worked for me, because it
requires jumping back and forth from the help pages to the site of the
problem. In this case, I might have tried it, but at the most critical times,
even the pointer was unavailable. A plain, old handbook would have
offered the best of both worlds! I'm sure not providing one was a financial
decision for Adobe, but for the price they charge for the application, they
could have afforded it.

Photoshop work space keeps disappearing
Every time I try to drag and drop art work from photoshop into another adobe application my photoshop window disappear and the only way i know how to get it back to quite the program.
This is annoying, if I'm half way though work and this happens is really distracting.
Is this a bug, or a new feature that I'm not aware of?BOILERPLATE TEXT:

I am using a Photoshop cs2, and I wonder if it is possible to keep the settings of the guidelines when closing an image, with the actual document ? It would be nice to have the guidelines locked down, I find it than when opening the same or another image, the guidelines are not locked, it is annoying to have to lock them down again. and it would actually be nice, to ba able to give specific directions when placing the guidelines. Thanks
Then why are the guides unlocked when I reopen a document that I saved with the guides locked ?
Thanks. -
Photoshop CS2 keeps crashing after recent migration
Hi... just migrated my files to a new iMac and after a day of running fine, PS CS2 keeps crashing. It launches, but crashes quickly and randomly... sometimes allowing me to open a file and work on it for a minute and save it, other times when trying to go back to PS from another program.
Help!!Hi, I have the same problem with my Photoshop CS2 crashing on my Mac OS 10.6.3. I removed Photoshop, reinstalled and then installed the latest update (9.0.2) and it still doesn't work. Photoshop CS2 Text Tool Error Message
This is really weird... I think this is the first time I ever heard of this kind of problem. I just installed Photoshop CS2 and everything seems to work fine instead of the text tool. When I try to use it there is an error message that pops up saying: "Could not complete your request because something prevented the text engine from being intialized."
Whats even more weird is that it allows me to drag out a very small text box (so small no text can be fit in it). After that, I can resize the box, and I try to type in it but the cursor doesn't change and I can't type in the text box. And sometimes another error message may appear saying a program error occured.
I even tried re-installing the software, and still no success.
I am using Windows Vista Home Edition Premium, anyone can help me I will be greatly appreactive!Try resetting your text tool from the drop-down menu in the character palette. If that doesn't help reset your preferences as described in the FAQ.
http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.ef4a07f/1
You either have to physically delete (or rename) the preference files or, if using the Alt, Ctrl, and Shift method, be sure that you get a confirmation dialog.
This resets all settings in Photoshop to factory defaults.
A complete uninstall/re-install will not affect the preferences and a corrupt file there may be causing the problem. -
Hi,
I have recently been having some trouble with my photoshop cs2 (it isn't my computer because it is easily quicker them the majority of computer I have been on and it's only a recent problem). I can use all my tools very easily without having any little pauses and it wont crash, but with my brush tool, after using the brush for a long stroke without unclicking it crashes. Well, it pauses for 2 mins- 4 hours (wont let me click on another tool or carry on drawing or select layers and such). Since I am an artist and work on photoshop for a living , not being able to use the brush tool is a huge problem for me. I have no intension of updating my software to cs3/4/5, (as I don't want to pay for all that software and then find that it crashes again). I recently got my new bamboo graphics tablet and it is even slower when using that. This is also a very recent problem so I was wondering if anyone else had had this before and found a way around it?
Thanks!,
-LithiaI actually believe there are updates for Photoshop itself, not through Mac Software Update. You should check if there are any updates for the product on this website. Photoshop also tends to glitch sometimes. For example, on PSCS4 for Mac, after opening the program, and changing the toolbar to the traditional 2-column style, the quck mask button is totally cut off unless I switch it to the 2-column style twice.

Where is Tool Palette in Photoshop CS2?
I just installed photoshop cs2. But I cant see any tool palette when I open photoshop for the first time. It has only menus on the top and the working screen is completely blank as if nothing is opened. Even if I open any new image, it is not showing any palette or tools. Please tell me how to open the palette. I want to crop one photo now.
You could try Window>Workspace>Default workspace or Reset Palette Locations.

How could I build my own TOOL in Photoshop CS2
How could I build my own TOOL in Photoshop CS2? Like building a new Brush tool which could draw very fancy lines in Photoshop opened images.
You can't create a tool in Photoshop, but you can in your own filter plugin (similar to extract or liquify).

Photoshop CS2 keeps crashing!
I have Photoshop CS2, version 9.0.2 and it has always worked fine for me, but lately it crashes 90% of the time in the middle of a project. Any suggestions?
Have you tried restoring your prefs? http://adobe.ly/PS_Prefs
Are you running CS2 on a PPC mac (G4, G5) or an intel macintosh?
One concern is you may be running in rosetta. Emulation is slow and buggy. If you are, you may indeed want to upgrade to CS5. Right now, because you own CS2, you can upgrade at the upgrade price ($199 US). (Adobe gives a price break if you upgrade within 3 versions back - CS2, CS3, & CS4) If you wait for another version to come out, you'd have to pay full price $699 to get the latest version. Just a heads up. -
(illegally downloaded) Photoshop CS2 keeps unexpectedly quitting! What do I do?
I've literally been opening it for the past hour but it quits within 30-60 seconds...
Did they purposely give us this one for free knowing it doesnt work

HELP !!!abiola_n wrote:
Noel I think you should've opened the link before replying. I downloaded the full licensed version legally after Adobe released Photoshop CS2 as freeware in January.
Did you read this part at the top (in red):
Adobe strongly advises against running unsupported and outdated software. The serial numbers below should only be used by customers who legitimately purchased CS2 or Acrobat 7 and need to maintain their current use of these products.
If you didn't have a serial number to CS2 and you downloaded and installed CS2, you just committed an act of piracy. Also note about not running unsupported and outdated software...the odds of getting any help here is slim to none. -
I have photoshop CS2 on a mac 10.6.8 OS. I want to upgrade to Yosemite OS (10.10). Will photoshop work on the new OS? Is there an upgrade available if needed? Can I reload it if needed?
Photoshop was the last version compiled for the PPC cpu, not Intel. 10.6.8 kept it going with the Rosetta emulator, gone since 10.7.
So, no CS2 won't work under 10.10
CS6 (permanent license) or Lightroom and Photoshop | Adobe Creative Cloud Photography plan is the way to go.

Google tool bar keeps disappearing
The google toolbar keeps disappearing. It isn't in the list of toolbars and it will not appear if I download it again. The only way to get it back is to uninstall firefox and download it again. The google toolbar then reappears as if nothing was ever wrong.
Whu is this happening and what is the solution.Hello Kathie.
If you have a problem with a specific add-on, you need to contact its author for support. -
Photoshop CS2 + Leopard problem
My serious annoyance with Apple (releasing Leopard in such crappy shape) and Adobe (refusing to support CS2) grows:
Have been working a lot in Photoshop CS2 this weekend. Keep running into an issue where Photoshop stops taking input into a form box and I have to restart Photoshop. This seems overly similar to the Firefox form issues. ???
Rectangular Marquee Tool > Fixed Aspect Ratio > Width
The first couple times that I enter a width, all's fine. But then it stops allowing me to change the value in this field. It just won't. Until I restart.Beerzie Boy wrote:
I guess what I find galling is that Adobe is acting as if this product is not supported, and people don't seemed to be fazed by this. This version is less than two years old, for cryin' out loud! Why should I have to upgrade?
And software companies wonder why people pirate their software.
Well, I guess their position is that you did choose to upgrade to Leopard. I mean, if CS2 just stopped working one day under Tiger, gave up the ghost without warning, that'd be one thing, but CS2 was never certified to work under Leopard.
I personally understand your wanting to upgrade to Leopard and hoping that CS2 would work -- hey, we're human -- but I just can't agree that the resulting incompatibility justifies piracy.
