PhotoShop CS2 with Windows - via Bootcamp / Parallels
Hi All,
Hope you can help !
I am thinking of upgrading from G4 powerbook to an Intel MacBook. My main question is this:
I have a full copy of Photoshop CS2 for windows, will this run sufficently well under either bootcamp / parallels on a MacBook or will I need to upgrade to CS2/3 for MAC ?
Many thanks
RH/Nutwood
I have a full copy of Photoshop CS2 for windows, will this run sufficently well under either bootcamp / parallels
It will run fine on both of them.
It will run better using Bootcamp/Windows.

Sharing with Windows via BootCamp
I hope this belongs in this forum and not BootCamp. I just got a MBP and am planning to install Windows to allow me access to my version of PhotoShop and some Windows only presentation software I use (Media Shout and EasyWorship) Anyway, is there a way for me to use iPhotos' great organizational features, but put the images on an external HD that I can also access via Windows? I believe i would need to create folders (nature, family, etc.) in order to have any sort of organization while in Windows. Any thoughts on how to share an iPhoto library with Windows?
Thanks!I have a full copy of Photoshop CS2 for windows, will this run sufficently well under either bootcamp / parallels

Photoshop Cs2 with windows 7 64 bits
i find that the printer icon in the page setup page is missing.
can anyone help me to solve it, please.
i cannot select printer while i am in the page setup tab.
or it is a bug in photoshop cs2?Windows 7 x64 is a separate build from Windows 7 32 bit. Windows 7 Ultimate comes with BOTH.
There isn't a separate package of Photoshop CS5 for 32 bit or 64 bit. Photoshop (since CS4) installs both 32 bit and 64 bit software on a 64 bit Windows system, or only 32 bit software on a 32 bit Windows system.
Photoshop CS5 is fine with every variant of Windows 7.
Photoshop CS5 is reportedly fine with modern AMD processors, though I have only used Intel.
The detailed system requirements are here: http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/photoshop/systemreqs/
My own (personal, subjective) opinion is that ATI (AMD) video interfaces are better than nVidia.
Hope this answers your questions.

Macbook Pro 2011 problem with windows via bootcamp
I have macbook pro early 2011 and my disk drive not working.
I tried to install windows via bootcamp by an external disk drive but it failed to boot from the windows install disk.
how can i install it?The Snow Leopard Windows drivers are on your Snow Leopard install disk. There is no download for Windows drivers and Snow Leopard.
You should include your computer model and year in your posts. Answers may vary depending on your hardware.
XP is not supported on newer Apple computers. You should install Windows 7. -
ISight stopped working with windows messenger (bootcamp/parallels)
A few days ago I installed windows xp pro via bootcamp. After installing the drivers and everything, windows messenger was great with the iSight and everything. Just today I installed parallels, and after opening windows i no longer have a "webcam" installed, and i noticed that even my "speaker" and "Microphone" settings have gone back to "Intel(r) Integrated Audio"
Any ideas how i could get this working again? The audio actually works, but I just need windows to find my iSight again...Hi,
Parallels is not an application I have so I can not test this further.
I would think the answer may lie in the BootCamp forum where people may have tried the same thing as you or at any Parallels Forum you can find.
(Start here as there are links to the unintegrated ones).

Photoshop cs2 with windows 8.1
Hi
I've been using photoshop cs2 for some time and I just bought a new laptop that is windows 8.1
during installation it stops and wont proceed until I enter an organization and serial number.
I don't remember doing that in the previous install and I have no idea what I should enter. Is there a place
on my old computer's hard drive anywhere that would give me this information?
DarrenIf you have an original CS2 CD and serial number, you should know activation has been retired and your old copy won't work.
The great news is that Adobe has provided an non-activated copy of CS2 and a new serial number free of charge to CS-CS2 owners.
Get both at Download Acrobat 7 and CS2 products

I would like to know if there a way to use window (via bootcamp) and use a dual screen with the use of thunderbolt?
There are very specific requirements for using an iMac as an external display.
From Target Display Mode: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) - Apple Support
What are the requirements for TDM?
A Mac notebook or desktop with a Mini DisplayPort or Thunderbolt connection
A Thunderbolt or Mini DisplayPort cable
A supported iMac with OS X 10.6.1 or later. The table below shows iMac computers that support TDM, the required cables, and the port of the computer to which you are connecting the iMac.
iMac Model
Cable Supported
Port on Source Computer
iMac (27-inch Late 2009)
Mini DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort
Mini DisplayPort or Thunderbolt
iMac (27-inch Mid 2010)
Mini DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort
Mini DisplayPort or Thunderbolt
iMac (Mid 2011)
Thunderbolt to Thunderbolt

Note that the iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014) does not support Target Display Mode. -
Is installing Windows via bootcamp bad for my hardrive? (It crashed)
Hello,
I purchased my new Macbook Pro 13" in January of this year, and my hardrive recently completely crashed. I was lucky enough to have Apple pay for a new hd, but I really want to know what caused it. The only thing I can think of that makes any sort of sense is that installing Windows via bootcamp screwed up the hardrive somehow and caused it to fail from getting worked too much from always restarting into Windows / having too much of my hd dedicated to Windows (150 gb of my 750gb SATA hd). I dont know if any of this makes sense, or if I just got really unlucky and got a bad hd from the factory. I have never physically damaged my macbook (like dropping it or whatever) and have never stored it in extremely hot or cold temperatures. The copy of Windows I installed was legit and everything....so I am scared to reinstall windows in fear that my hd will fail again
So my question is this...... is there any way that the bootcamp partition could have cause my hd to fail? Is it safe to go ahead and install windows again?
Thank you for you time.I have never heard of bootcamp causing hard drive failure. I think it is more likely that you were unlucky and ended up with a bad drive. Something like 1 in 100,000 fail, that 1 has to land on someone. If you are worried about bootcamping again I would recommend Parallels or VMWare Fusion. They are both excellent virtualization applications and offer a soft cap on the windows partition size because it is a file kept inside of OSX instead of a physical partition. I have been running Parallels for 6 months with no problems.
Best,

I had an early version of Photoshop (2.0 I think) that worked perfect on windows vista. I bought a new laptop with windows 8.1 and the Photoshop won't install. Which version of Photoshop compatible with Windows 8.1 is closest to the older Photoshop?
I think you mean Photoshop CS2. Photoshop 2 is from around 1992. The old Adobe activation servers were taken down. CS2 is about a decade old Adobe made a new download for old customers that legal customers can download and install. Download Acrobat 7 and CS2 products

Using MS Access 2010 on Windows via Bootcamp
Using MS Access 2010 on Windows via Bootcamp
I am wanting to do an online course which uses MS Access 2010. I am using an Apple Mac and thought I could use Bootcamp to set up a Windows partition to use the software.
My query is once I have created a database with MS Access 2010 in Windows on my mac, is the database essentially useless for my future mac work?
Hope someone can help

Thanks for the email.
I do think converting will end up being complicating. Do you know what Office for Mac is like, is it similar to MS Access? If so, I could do the course using MS Access and then buy Office for Mac and teach myself how to create databases using office.
As I mentioned there is no Access for Mac. Microsoft never made one. Office for Mac includes Word, Excel, Powerpoint (and Outlook for the Business edition.) And even these are missing some features of their Windows versions. (e.g.: Excel macros often don't work on the Mac version of Excel.)
You can bring over your general knowlege of database programming (e.g.: relationships, joins, normalizing,) to any database product such as MSSQL, MySQL, Oracle Database, Filemaker, Alpha5, OpenOffice, etc. But none of those other database products will open a database file made in Access. (Or rather, may have very limited ability to open very simple databases, but you'll probably lose the relationship links.) So your Access training won't be a total loss, but you'll need to learn the specifics of whatever database product you eventually use. -
Problem booting after failed Windows (via Bootcamp) installation
Good Day,
yesterday i recieved my brand new 21" iMac.
I wanted to install Windows via Bootcamp. I partitioned the Harddrive, started the installation and when Windows setup came to the point where it has to reboot (after copying the necessary files to the harddrive during the part of the setup process with the blue screen), it said something like "disc error, press any key to boot from CD. Nothing happend and the only way to start the computer was while holding down the ALT key and selecting the Macintosh disc.
I deleted the bootcamp partition, but still my computer wants to boot windows giving me the "disc error" message. Everytime i have to start the computer holding the ALT key to boot into OSX (it only shows me the Macintosh drive, no more windows drive to select).
Who can help?
Thanks!
Message was edited by: daniel.bsIt is a common error, which i've faced too.
Did you formatted the windows partition when into xp/vista/7 installation?
Boot Camp assistant only partition the hard drive, but you will have to format the windows partition yourself before installing, or you'll get that error when trying to boot/reboot in windows after installation.
You'll just have to start your iMac with the Windows CD/DVD, and redo the installation, this time formatting the partition (not with the fast format option).
Best regards! -
