Photoshop CS2 won't open...

I'm using a Mac G5 with the adobe creative suite 2 standard.  Since yesterday Photoshop has not been opening.. I click on the icon, it bounces up and down once then doesn't do anything else.  I don't know if its crashing or what... but all my other programs are working.. Illustrator, etc... now, I have not tried reinstalling the creative suite yet because I am not sure if I am going to need a pin number to install the programs again... I have the serial number that is on the box...but no registration number or anything like that.  So I'm just being cautious... don't want to uninstall and then not be able to reinstall the programs.   I think maybe any registration number might stay in the computer so long as the hard drive is not re formatted or anything like that.  I am the artist for a small screen printing factory and need Photoshop and illustrator to be able to do my job.  If this has happened to anyone else and you know of a way to fix it or any other possible solutions please help me out.
Thanks
Adam

Hi, Thanks for your suggestion, it did not work, but I have reinstalled the program without any problems and everything is working again.  Thanks anyway dude.

  • Photoshop CS2 won't open on my Mac

I've been trying to download CS2 for while now, since I found it out it was free. But the problem is that everytime I try to open the file, it says that there has been and error in the installation. I mean, I download the file, it's right there, and it says 'Install Adobe Photoshop', I click on it, I fill all the spaces I have to fill but at the end it always says that there has been and error during he installation. This has happened to me for at least 6 times and I seriously want help.

CS2 is not free. If you never bought it in the past you are not using it legally. Otherwise CS2 is not compatible with contemporary operating systems and you have to live with that.

  • Why won't Photoshop CS2 won't open after installation.

I've had Creative Suite Premium installed on my laptop for years and not had problems.  I installed it on my home desktop and the activation was accepted.  All other Suite programs work but Photoshop only goes so far as the blue window and the hourglass just sits there.  I'm working with XP Pro and when I open Task Manager Photoshop is shown as not responding.  I've tried to repair with the installation disk and I've tried to uninstall/reinstall twice but nothing seems to help.
Since I put the Suite on my laptop, the Installation disks have been on my book shelf.  What could possibly be preventing Photoshop from opening?
    Many Thanks in advance,
    Jim Lynn

What is shown in the blue window as loading when the thing freezes?
Have you tried resetting your preferences as described in the FAQ.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/375776?tstart=0
You either have to physically delete (or rename) the preference files or, if using the Alt, Ctrl, and Shift method, be sure that you get a confirmation dialog.
This resets all settings in Photoshop to factory defaults.   A complete uninstall/re-install will not affect the preferences and a corrupt file there may be causing the problem.

Photoshop CS2 fails to open on two of our Macs. One is a G5 with Tiger, the other is a G4. I deleted the .psp file on the G5, tried to reopen, but it failed. Here is the error message.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

It is usually enough to check it on the enclosing folder. Depending on which version of the OS you have, it should also by itself include enclosed content. In Tiger there is a choice (as far as I remember - I no logner have any machine with Tiger) to include the enclosed folders when you set permissions.

  • Photoshop CS5 won't open .kmz files

Photoshop CS5 won't open .kmz files. I did a fresh install of Google Earth, opened it, saved a place, and saved a .kmz file. It reopens fine in Google Earth.
When I try to open it in Photoshop, this message pops up:
    File Format Error
This file is from a previous version of Google Earth or it is not a Google Earth file
I get this message regardless of the following:
    - ps is closed and i right click the kmz and choose ps (rather than google earth) to open it
    - ps is open and i double click the kmz
    - ps is open and i choose file/open and select the kmz
    - ps is open and i have created and saved a new psd file, then choose 3D/New Layer from 3D File/ and select the kmz
I have tried the usual remedies, change rwx permissions, repair permissions, delete prefs. No luck.
Any thoughts? Software versions are below.
    Thanks.
    - Photoshop CS5 Extended 12.0.4 x64 (doesn't work in x32 either)
    - Google Earth 6.0.3.2197
    - OS 10.6.8

I was trying to see (since Photoshop Extended touts the ability to open kmz files) if I could open a 3D Google Earth file and edit it in Photoshop. A file like this for instance http://ecotope.org/anthromes/maps/. After more research I've learned that kmz is nothing more that a container format - you can change the extension to zip and see what's in it.
I ran across this tidbit in the Photoshop CS3 Extended forum:
Photoshop CS3 Extended supports the ability to import .kmz files created from Google Earth 4 or exported from Sketch-up in the Google Earth 4 format. Photoshop CS3 Extended cannot open Google Earth files. If you have a Google Earth file, you can convert it to a Google Earth 4 format with the free version of Sketch-up.
So, theoretically if I could get a kmz into Google Earth 4 format, I could open it in Photoshop. But I haven't had any success importing a kmz or kml into SketchUp. Even just making a native sketchup file and trying to import that in psd gives a ram error.
Probably I'm wishing for the moon.

Try making a direct desktop icon for the Editor and see if you can launch the program directly from the desktop.
Right click anywhere on the desktop and select New à Shortcut
    Browse to Computer OS C:
And find the PSE Editor application in Program Files or Program Files (x86) on Windows 7 - 64 bit.
    C: à Program Files à Adobe à Photoshop Elements 9
Within the Photoshop elements 9 folder find PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe (with the blue icon)
Select that file and click Next.
    Then click Finish.
You should now be able to launch by double clicking on the new desktop icon, bypassing the welcome screen.

  • CS photoshop suddenly won't open after 5 years

CS photoshop suddenly won't open after running perfectly for 5 years. I do not have the original install disc.
Any suggestions? Apple and Adobe Tech folks could not help.

    Cris (and Tai Lao)
there was no installation of a scanner (my Canon LiDe 500F scanner

idea was brilliant!--disable Twain, which I did and ps launched
    successfully!!
Now, as Tai Loa predicted, I can no longer import the scanner thru
ps. Given my current work crunch that's not so terrible, but how does
one access a scanner without using ps? If you have had just about

  • Photoshop CS2 won't let me open?

I received Photoshop CS2 from Adobe because they shut down the CS server, killing my program. I installed the program using their serial number and when I open it, it says the serial number was not installed and then when I push 'ok' it shuts down. How do I fix this

  • Photoshop CS Won't Open

I have Photoshop CS and have been using it for a long time on this computer - and it has always been fine. I'm now trying to open it - and it basically won't open. The initialization takes forever (it was always long - but is REALLY long) and then I get a message that the application is not responding.
There is nothing new about the computer - no new hardware or software. And everything else runs fine.
I'm currently going through a procedure to see if I have a virus or some other kind of malware - but I'm wondering if anyone has had a similar experience - and if so, what the solution was.
Thanks in advance for your consideration.

Just found the answer to my problem. Getting rid of the twain files. Here's the link to the solution we found at another forum.
    http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7programs/thread/2ed659f5-8f3f-44d8-8a9d -a78f2abb7313
    Here is the answer:
So I've been looking at this for quite a few hours over the last few days and good news!  My thanks for your suggestions, but whilst trying multiple uninstalls of various software/services/drivers I noticed that when Photoshop fails to open it stopped at the same point.  Before clicking "Look for solution online" or "Close program" I noted down that it was at the TWAIN loading screen.  TWAIN is for scanners (took me a few moments before I remembered that).  A search for "CS3 TWAIN problem" gives a few results but about third on the list for me was:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/330/330344.html
This is a link to an Adobe tech note that explains the exact problem I was having.  Just in case the link stops working, here are the very simple steps:
    On Windows:
Go to Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS2\Plug-Ins\Import-Export (Photoshop CS2), or Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Plug-Ins\Import-Export (Photoshop CS3).
Right-click the Twain_32.8BA file and choose Rename.
Add a tilde (~) in front of the name and press Enter.
Note that Photoshop will no longer talk direct to scanners, but to be honest who cares.  You can scan whatever you want using your scanning software and open the resulting image files in Photoshop.
I hope this helps others.  Plus GREAT news, CS3 really IS compatible with Windows 7.
    Good luck
    Larry

  • Adobe Stock Photos Stuck in Trash and Photoshop CS2 won't run!

Okay, I apparently did something stupid. I'm not even sure how this happened, but I realized that Adobe Stock Photos folder was sitting on my desktop (I'm using OS X 10.5.6). I don't know when this happened and I didn't think I needed it so I dragged it to the trash. NOW I cannot run any of my Adobe software (includes Photoshop CS2, Illustrator CS2 and GoLive CS2).
I can see the folder sitting in my trash, but it won't let me drag it back out. So, just as a test, I tried dragging out the one other file (.jpg) and I can't get that one either. I know this isn't a Mac forum, but I'm desparate and cannot find anything to help me.
Probably I am going to have to reinstall everything and (of course) I can't find my CDs!!! Please don't get angry if I'm asking the wrong question. I've done an internet search and I cannot find any solutions.
    Thanks, Anne

Adobe stock photos does not even exist anymore.
Have you tried deleting your trash? I have no Adobe stock Photos on my computer and everything works. try restarting the computer.

  • PS CS2 won't open due to error message regarding RAM...

I've been running Photoshop CS2 since it came out and never had any real problems. Then the other night I loaded approx 20 custom shape files that had about 10 shapes each from ActionFx.  I played with them for a while and everything was working fine.  Then I shut my computer down that night.  The next morning I tried to open Photoshop and got the following message "could not complete your request because there is not enough memory (RAM).
I've tried everything I can think of to fix this so I'm pretty desperate for help.  Finally, I resorted to uninstalling just the Photoshop component of CS2.  Then I defragged and reinstalled.  When that didn't work I uninstalled all of CS2 including my preferences.  Defragged again and then reinstalled.  All of the other components open and work (Illustrator, GoLive, InDesign, etc.) but Photoshop is still a no go
Something I found really strange is that while the error message is up on the screen I can still see all my layer styles and actions (even though I've uninstalled everything twice now).  Of course, as soon as I click ok on the error message everything closes and Windows says "Adobe Photoshop CS2 has stopped working.  A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the problem and notify you if a solution is available."  Needless to say no solution is ever offered.
    Here's my system:
Dell Laptop running Windows Vista Ultimate
    Memory (RAM): 4 GB
    Hard Drives:
C (1 actual hard drive): 149 GB     Free: 103 GB
    D & E (1 hard drive partitioned):
              D: 135 GB      Free: 40.6 GB
              E: 13.2 GB     Free: 12.6 GB
    System type: 32-bit Operating System
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT
Sorry for the long post.  Any help will be deeply appreciated!!!

    Thank you for replying John.
    1.  I realize not on Vista at the beginning.  I'm sorry, I thought this was obvious.  Since the problem I'm having is a recent issue, I only thought listing my current system would be important (I've had this system since 2007).
    2.  Tried using the Alt, Control, and Shift method but nothing happened.  Went to where the FAQ said the preferences file would be and there isn't a preferences file there.  Did a search for it on my whole system (just to be sure) and found nothing.  Having done all of that I'm assuming the file has been deleted...  If there is anywhere else I should look I would really appreciate a heads up.  I am at a complete loss as to what to do next besides upgrade (which I can't afford) so that I can work.
I am not a computer person by any means.  Everything I have learned regarding computers has been through a few classes and lots and lots of reading books on my own. I was starting to feel pretty decent about myself & computers (I guess that'll teach me).
As I stated before, this whole issue started after installing several shapes.  I've gone to Program Files/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS2/Presets to try and delete the shapes but there is nothing there but the orig. Adobe presets.  The same goes for the rest of the preset files.  None of the Layer Styles, Actions, etc. show up.  Is there anywhere else I should look?
Thank you again John for replying earlier.
I can't complete any of my work until this issue is resolved so again, any help will be greatly appreciated!!!
I don't understand why the spaces between the paragraphs keeps going away...sorry if it's hard to read.

  • Bridge CS2 won't open

    Hi
I rebuilt my win xp computer did a new install of the OS. I then re- installed Photoshop CS2. For a week Photoshop and bridge worked fine then on Friday I tried to open Bridge and nothing happened. Task Manager shows bridge in the Processes and using 35,520 K of memory. It is not listed as an Application and does not open at all.
I have removed Photoshop and re-installed Photoshop twice Photoshop opens but not bridge. After the un-installs I ran a registration cleanup tool but still found several Photoshop references, I did not try to remove them or modify them.
Also if I try to open Bridge with CTRL held down nothing happens it just lists Bridge as a Processes.
Any ideas? Photoshop has run on this computer with this ram and everything else since CS2 was released so the computer should not be the problem. Everything else works.
    Thanks
    Dennis

First check to see that bridge is not running in background.  Open task manager and click on Processes tab.  Check for any instance on Bridge.exe and close it if found.
I believe to reset CR2 Bridge they still used Ctrl + Alt + Shift.  Try that or check online to see if that is correct.
