Photoshop CS3 doesnt open more than 1 photo

I have win XP + Adobe CS 3 Standard installed on my pc: when i open more than one photo at the same time with Photoshop CS3, the application immediately close.
I have two pc with the same configuration and i have the same problem. Consider that i have Adobe CS2 installed + upgrade to Adobe CS 3. If i use Photoshop CS 2 i dont have trouble. Thanks

Thanks Freeagent
Unfortunately this did not work
I have subsequently reinstalled (ie repair) - no help
What seems to be happening is that I open 1 photo from Bridge - work on it - close it or go to print - then close then cannot open another photo
Didn't happen with CS2
Any further ideas? Thanks

  • Photoshop can't open more than one graphic at a time without crashing

    I get the error:
The instruction at "0x7c918af2" referenced memory at "0x00000010". The memory could not be "written".
Anytime I try to open more than one image in Photoshop at a time, regardless of how I do it - doesn't matter if I choose the image and "open in photoshop" or if I am in photoshop and go to "file/open".
It's Photoshop CS3. I have already uninstalled, restarted the computer and reinstalled. I tried to "repair/change" from Windows, but it asks for the CS3 cd and then CS4, which I don't have since I'm using CS3.
This is quite frustrating as it would be nice to be able to merge photos and the myriads of other things you can do with multiple images at once, if opening them does not crash your program.

You may not even have the problem!
Have you installed the new printer yet?

CS4 crashes when I open too many files at once.  Like more than 10.  They're not even very big files.

Other than that You might consider doing OS-maintenance, like repairing permissions, cleaning PRAM etc. and trashing Photoshop-prefs … all of which might or might not help.

  • Error - Can't open more than one image in CS3

My Photoshop CS3 was working fine until all of a sudden it no longer lets me open more than one image at a time without crashing. Anyone else have this problem? How do I fix it?

    Hi,
There may be two issues you have to check:
    1) The " scratch disk" feature in photoshop(usually gets full). Go to preferences - performance. Also check how much RAM PS is using.
    2) Printer Communication: sometimes Photoshop is unable to communicate with the default printer(may be unstable drivers, out of date etc). Network computers also make some issues
If you want to read more about this follow this link:

They talk about the issues I mentioned here. Let me know if you found this information useful.

  • CS3 Crashes When trying to open more than 1 file

    Hi All,
My work copy of CS3, Photoshop in particular, is crashing every single time I try to open more than one file. I tried trashing the preferences when using WinXP. We couldn't get it to stop crashing upon opening more than 1 file regardless of the open method (Recent docs, File>Open, Drag & Drop, etc)
So then I actually got a new computer (bonus!) and there's Vista Ultimate on it. All was working great until this morning and now sure enough if I try to open more than one file, CRASH...
Does anybody have any ideas on how to fix this? It must not be my machine because I've tried two machines..
Any help is appreciated! Thank you!

If your still running vista Click on control and switch to classic view. Look for folder options. On the View tab look for hidden files and folders and select "Show hidden files and folders". Same tab Uncheck " hide protected operating system files".  Hit APPLY then ok and close out. This will now show all files on your system.
Right click on my computer and select properties. Click on advance system properties. Click on advance tab. Look for Performance and click on settings.
On the advance tab look for Virtual memory and select "Change" If you only have on hard drive you should see C drive. what you want to do is select "Custom size". Look for recommended file size (mine reads 12285 MB) What you want to do is put that number size in "Initial size" and Also "Maximum Size" and hit the "set" button. What this does is it lets Vista set a set amount of Virtual memory that can be used as RAM. This will help Vista from wanting the same Hard disk space for Virtual Memory and Adobe Scratch Disk Space doing the same thing. You will have to reboot.
Go to start and type in msconfig and hit enter. Go to Start up tabe and uncheck any start up items that do not need to start when you start your computer. While your in that area you can click on the boot tab. Click on Advance options. Look for number of processors and check the box. If you have more then one core processor click on the down arrow and look for the number of processors you have. (for example I have 4 so I selected 4. Hit ok. Then in the other main window hit apply then OK. A screen will pop up telling you to reboot. Selecting more then one processor (if you have more then one) will allow the computer to boot using all processors and maybe notice a faster boot time.
Did you patch CS3 after you installed it on Vista? Also did you defrag your hard drive?

  • Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0- can't open more than 1 file at a time!

    Hi,
We have a computer with Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0 at our office. It has worked for a few years just fine, but not something is wrong- whenever we try to open more than 1 document to edit or combine them, the program says there has been an error and immediately closes. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to solve this. We have elements 4.0 and 5.0 on other computers and those seem to be working just fine.
    Thanks,
    Amy @ Orfield

Sorry. But Elements 6 wasw a crosssroads. The database did change!

  • Can't open more than one file at once (Indesign CS3)

    hi there
I have to deal with a strange problem, every time (well actually randomly) I try to open more than one indesign file at once, indesign just stays in the background and I can't get it to show up.
the only thing I can to is force quite the application and restart indesign. Sometimes I'm able to see one of the open documents but I can't do anything with it (as there are no tools and no other indesign windows).
Im not the only one having this problem, my work mate just updated his osx from 10.4 to 10.5, and now he is having the same problems...
    any suggestions why that is?
    cheers
(my system: mac 2x2.66ghz dual-core intel xeon, 1gb ram, osx 10.5.2, indesign cs3
my work mates system: mac G5, 1gb ram, indesign cs3, osx 10.5.2)

Every system has issues when its first released.
What's the point of jumping to a new system on a production machine when everything works perfectly in the old system?
Monitor these forums and other boards and as soon as Apple and Adobe have a fix jump to the new system.

  • Photoshop CC 64-bit inability to open more than a single thumnail

Photoshop CC 64-bit inability to open more than a single thumnail at a time.
Am I missing a setting in Photoshop CC 64-bit or win 8?

Some choose not to use Bridge.  I don't care for it myself and don't even have it installed.  With a thumbnailing shell extension installed File Explorer makes a nice integrator.
From File Explorer, Open With does not appear when multiple files are selected.
Dragging and dropping to a Photoshop shortcut on the desktop works, as does dragging to the Photoshop Taskbar button and hovering (which brings Photsohop to the front if it's already running) then dropping on the edge of Photoshop.

  • Opening more than one file in Photoshop CS5

Feeling rather silly! Have used Photoshop for many years — and in fact taught it to many.
I am unable to open more than one doc at a time. If I open one, when I open the second one it replaces the first one.
It is essential for what I do to be able to have more than one doc open at a time.
Am I missing something that is right before my eyes?

How are you supposed to know this stuff — no manual??
The manual is available for download.
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/2790684#2790684
Albeit it seems to be incomplete …
Anyway that stuff (and the Application Frame) was introduced in CS4 and did cause some confusion then, too.

  • How to open more than one RAW-File by drag&drop/doubleclick with CS2?

    Hello,
is it possible to open more than one RAW-file from iPhoto with Photoshop's RAW-converter in just one single step? If I drag&drop my selection to my Photoshop-Icon, PS opens just the iPhoto-created library-JPGs of the RAW-files but not the RAWs itself (I've turned out the copyying of the imported photos to the iPhoto-library. Instead iPhoto seems to create a JPG for the library from every RAW I import). If I doubleclick a selection of RAWs in iPhoto just the doubleclicked RAW-File will be opened in Photoshop. Is it possible to select more than one RAW-file in iPhoto and get Photoshop to open all the selected RAWs but not the JPGs? It would make my work a lot easier... thank you.
    rockenbaby

    hello
try selecting the photos that you want however many- go, File then Export.
you can make all your file selections image size etc and then save them direct to your PS file.
    hope this helps.

  • How to open more than 1 file at a time in PSE12?

How do you set PSE12 to open more than 1 file (jpg) at a time? I've seen this question come up many times but no one seems to get the problem resolved. I've tried all the suggestions. Any assistance appreciated.
I had this program installed and working as I wanted about 3 months ago. I then uninstalled and reinstalled a few days ago. Now it won't open more than 1 file at a time.

    Hi,
My theory is that Windows get confused when it is opening the program file and the following intsructions should create a unique copy. I have produced the instructions in detail because I am never sure how much people are use to - forgive me you know much of it.
    Open Windows or Folder Explorer
    Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 12
    Look for PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe
Right click on the file and select Copy
Right click on a blank space and select Paste - you should get a prompt asking if you want to continue - you do - this should produce a copy of the file
Rename PhotoshopElementsEditor - Copy.exe to PSE 12 ED  - you should get a prompt asking if you want to continue - you do
    Close the Explorer
In the Windows Control Panel, select Default Programs
In Default Programs, Select Associate a file type … - it will take a while to display the list
Scroll down to the type you want to select - say .jpg and select it
Click on the Change program button
    Click on the Browse button
Search for the PSE 12 ED file renamed in 6 above, select it and then click on the Open button
Click on OK and close the Default Programs
Now try your tests. I can get multiple files to open as well as retain Expert mode.
    Good luck

  • Elements 7 crashes when opening more than 1 file

Can anyone help me with this problem of Editor crashing when I attempt to open more than 1 file

    OK,
    1)The files are raw NEF's from a Nikon D300
2)error message is "Adobe Photoshop Elements (editor) has encounterd a problem and need to close. We are sorry for the inconvienience."
    3) error signature:
    AppName, photoshopeditor.exe appver 7.0.0.0, ModeName ntdll.dll, ModVer 5.1.2600.6055, Offset: 00019af2
    4) I have an open Nef file minimized below and select another Nef file, it comes on the editor screen, I then select "open file" , then the above message comes on the screen, and after "reporting error", Editor crashes and blows me out of Photoshop completely.
    5) no other software is running, I have even shut down my virus software
    6) XP pro 3GB ram
7)420GB free space on C HDD
    8) yes it did work fine months ago, but I took a break from Photography(3-4 months), with no changes to photoshop.
    9) I did recently update the raw files, but as a note, this is happening with JPG's as well.
    6) I have tried uninstalling Elements and reinstalling, with no change
