Photoshop CS3 export to Flash CS3

I have checked the adobe site, and the lynda.com site and
still can't find a way to export from Photoshop CS3 to Flash CS3 so
that all of the layers are imported into flash on individual
layers. I have found how to do it with CS2 using imageready but
that is no longer an option in CS3. Can anyone help? I have a flash
project on hold because of this one.
Thank you...

I have tried saving the file from Photoshop CS3 as a PSD and
then importing it into Flash CS3. You get all the layers but not
the drop shadows. The drop shadows are there but as a part of what
ever they are shadowing, they are not a separate layer. Also using
CS2 and Imageready I could get the layers to be named the same as
my file name automatically so each layer would end up with a unique
name instead of layer1 and layer2. Is there still a way to do it
the way we used to or something similar so that everything is on
its own layer including drop shadows and the layers in flash are
automatically named for you on import?

  • Quicktime movie export from Flash CS3 is skipping frame.

When I try to export Quicktime movie from Flash CS3, the
resulting mov file is skipping frames. i.e.: The movie is showing
    frame number 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 7, 7, 10, 11, 12, 12, 12, 15
    etc...
As you can see the frame number 7 is repeated 3 times and
frame 8 and 9 are nowhere to be found.
The last configuration I used is 960x540, Sorenson video 3
medium quality, 25 fps, keyframe every 25 frames. 6400 kbits/s.
I tried various configurations, with different codecs and even
with keyframe all frames and I always get simillar problems.
Anyone have an idea what is going on, and how to fix this?
    Thank you,
    Olivier.

The QT exporter in Flash is honestly my least favorite
feature - not the feature itself but how it
works (or how it doesn't work in some cases). For me it is
almost unusable unless you have a very
short timeline, small stage, lower frame rate - like AS
generated effects or something - otherwise,
for true frame accuracy to video output - it is not reliable
enough and not fast enough for any real
    world production environment.
So typically for me - I love SWF2Video (www.flashants.com) as
it takes any SWF and makes it into an
AVI that is frame accurate no matter what the frame rate is -
quite incredible - enough so that I
always felt it should have been bundled with Flash (as well
    as Wacom tablets).
Harmony is an incredible product - as is SOLO and TBS (Toon
Boom mStudio) - each of those programs
are dedicated animation programs designed for output to video
    - Flash has a lot of hats to fill and
it was never really designed for animation to video even
though many of us have found it suitable
for all intents and purposes as an animation program for full
    production.
But all in all - the quicktime exporter doesn't really
deliver how we would expect it too I am sorry
to say - I only hope it works as well as it does on the Mac
(Mac users could always choose to export
to Quicktime Video but not PC users).
For now if I am exporting to video I keep it all on the
timeline or nested in Graphic symbols or use
    the SWF2Video tool.
    hope this helps.

  • Export to Flash CS3 doesn't work

    Hello,
I have Captivate 4 and Flash CS3 (full versions) - WinXP.
When I want export Captivate project to Flash - "File -> Export
-> Project to -> Flash CS3" I will get only notify: "Cannot
initialize Cpativate FLA Exporter. You may need to restart Flash."
Flash CS3 is running and Captivate project is saved. Any idea?
    Leoš

    Hi Leoš,
I guess you are searching in the wrong place. Its not
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash
    CS3\cs\Configuration\Importers
    It should be
    For XP:
    <Windows Drive Letter>:\Documents and Settings\<user
    directory>\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Flash
    CS3\<language>\Configuration\Importers
    For Vista:
    <Windows Drive Letter>:\Users\<user
    directory>\AppData\Local\Adobe\Flash
    CS3\<language>\Configuration\Importers
Windows Drive Letter is the drive in which windows is
installed into. Generally it is 'C' (without quotes)
Anyway, I dont think there is support for Czech version of
Flash to export from Captivate. However you can try this out:
    Copy RDMFISTUB9.dll into
    For XP:
    <Windows Drive Letter>:\Documents and Settings\<user
    directory>\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Flash
    CS3\<language>\Configuration\Importers\
    For Vista:
    <Windows Drive Letter>:\Users\<user
    directory>\AppData\Local\Adobe\Flash
    CS3\<language>\Configuration\Importers\
(Ex path for dll: For XP, C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe
    Captivate 4\RDMFISTUB9.dll)
    Copy RdJsfl.dll into
    For XP:
    <Windows Drive Letter>:\Documents and Settings\<user
    directory>\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Flash
    CS3\<language>\Configuration\External Libraries\
    For Vista:
    <Windows Drive Letter>:\Users\<user
    directory>\AppData\Local\Adobe\Flash
    CS3\<language>\Configuration\External Libraries\
(Ex path for dll: For XP, C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe
    Captivate 4\RdJsfl.dll)
Copy AdobeCaptivate Folder inside ActionScript Folder into
    For XP:
    <Windows Drive Letter>:\Documents and Settings\<user
    directory>\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Flash
    CS3\<language>\Configuration\Classes\
    For Vista:
    <Windows Drive Letter>:\Users\<user
    directory>\AppData\Local\Adobe\Flash
    CS3\<language>\Configuration\Classes\
(Ex path for folder: For XP, C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe
    Captivate 4\ActionScript\AdobeCaptivate)
You can get RDMFISTUB9.dll, RdJsfl.dll in Adobe Captivate 4
    installed directory
(Generally this should be C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe
    Captivate 4)
Now try to import a cp file into captivate.

  • Export to Flash CS3, SWFs not editable - HELP!

    On this page (
    http://www.adobe.com/products/captivate/integration/flash/)
it says about exporting to Flash, "Each Adobe Captivate slide is
automatically inserted into the Flash Timeline, with objects,
images, audio, and backgrounds on individually labeled layers.
Similarly, the Flash library is automatically updated with folders
containing all the objects created in Adobe Captivate 3."
This is not working for me. Instead I'm getting a bunch of
movie placeholders on my main timeline, with all the Captivate
slides exported as SWF files, and I'm not able to edit anything.
What am I doing wrong? Does this have something to do with
    "full motion"?

  • Importing Illustrator CS3 files into flash CS3 to tween

    Hello,
I'm definitely not a flash pro so I would like some help!
I'm trying to animate a man in Flash CS3 who was drawn in
    illustrator CS3.
I've imported all the layers but when I try to tween them
only the ones that have a single path tween correctly. Can you only
tween single path layers or am I being an idiot?
Many thanks and I look forward to your comments!

you can actually make illustrator drawings into symbols for
use in Flash CS3 while they're still in Ai. I would try that
approach first. There are some video tutorials on Adobe's site-
    I've lost the link.
That takes it out of the multi-layer wackiness, and puts
    everything together in nice packages.
Hopefully I'm not telling you something you already know X

  • Help Exporting Flash CS3

Hi guys, I'm new in the forum and I don't know if what I need
    has already been published.
I'm using Flash CS3, I'm learning how create text effects and

even having Flash Player. If they open it with Internet Explorer
    they can see the movie.
There's a way they can see the flash movie without set up
    Internet Explorer to open it?

I've had similar issues trying to export to Flash. But
    sometimes it seems to
work beautifully (although always with an error message about
    "unable to
find Flash.exe" or similar), aside from in issue with the

My first suggestion to you is to try rebooting your machine

  • Captivate 3 is wrong size when importing into Flash CS3

I've tried exporting, publishing etc. and no matter how I
try, when I import into Flash CS3 the size of the Captivate content
(background screens, in particular) are too small. For example, I
captured a 423x424 area for my Captivate project. When I import
into a Flash CS3 project with the same dimensions the Captivate
content (screens) are more like 203x203.5 and the mouse path and
slide context starting positions are upper left corner. I've tried
adjusting some of the importing settings but can't get the screens
the right size unless I resize each one manually - and I have
around 100. Any help greatly appreciated!

I am using captivate 3 and I get an error whenever I try to

why the hell doesnt Adobe say that flash is required to
export to flash BEFORE I buy the software? I am using my pc for
captivate, but am primarily mac based and was going to edit in
flash on my mac. but captivate didnt allow for me to export to
flash at all without any kind of flash installed. I installed a
demo version of flash, but the export is coming up with an error.
any ideas out there? adobe??? I'm currently using vista OS.

  • Captivate 3 to Flash CS3 Problem

    Hi
I am trialling v3 and just been trying out the export to
Flash CS3 option which seems problematic - no images seems to be
    exported.
On the exporting progress screen I am getting a 508 error -
not supported, Flash CS3 opens and I have some assets but no images
Anyone know how to fix this?
Also is it not possible to export individual slides to Flash?
It would make editting in Flash a whole lot easier than having 1
    big timelime.
    Thanks
    Kevin

    Hi Larry
No I am not a Flash developer, just looking for an option to
have a little programmability in Captivate.
I have just spent a few months looking at options for
producing learning apps - desktop or CD/DVD delivery rather than
the web. I had settled on Arthoware but then Adobe announced they
were not going to continue with this anymore. They suggest Flash,
Captivate or Director as alternatives But Flash is great for web,
not great for desktop or CD/DVD (distributing swf files not a good
idea as they are too insecure), Captivate has no programmability
and Director has little or no question/learning objects. So really
    no alternative to Arthorware.
My view based on a very quick look at Captivate is that one
way may be to build individual scenes in Flash and then import
these into Captivate slides. No control over program flow or
    writing to file, etc though.
I had a feeling integration would be an issue, the
ex-Macromedia products were/are good but all built using different
    languages - Flash/Actionscript, Director/Lingo and Arthorware had
yet another language. Hopefully Adobe will copy the guys at
Microsoft and try to re-build the products on the same framework
all using the same programming language, then we may have
    consistence and better integration
    Yours

  • How to build a custom Flash CS3 component

I just googled in the hope to find some resources about how
to build custom Flash CS3 components, but nothing turned up. I also
couldn't find any info on Adobe's Flash developers center.
Do you know of any resource that sheds some light on this
    subject?
If not then I'll have to try to find my way around custom
components by learning from the ones that came with Flash CS3 I
    guess.

Flash CS3 has been out for a few weeks. At this point, your
best bet is Amazon books or Barnes & Noble. I've read a few
books that should shed light on the subject. Otherwise, you'll need
to wait a few more weeks while people start hashing it out and
posting it to blogs and other sites.

  • Flash Lite in Flash CS3

    Hi all,
I've just earned a freelance contract to develop a mobile
phone game, & i've got a copy of CS3 Design Premium on the way,
which includes Flash CS3 Professional. I've developed Flash games
before using the Flash Lite 2.1 plugin for Flash 8 Professional,
but I'm a little confused about the situation in Flash CS3.
Does Flash CS3 come with Flash Lite 2.1? If not, has a Flash
Lite 2.1 plugin been released for Flash CS3? & if not, does the
Flash Lite 2.1 plugin for Flash 8 work for Flash CS3?
I guess my questions really is, is it currently possible to
develop Flash Lite 2.1 content with Flash CS3, & if so, what do
    i need?
    Cheers
    Andrew

    Read all about it here:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/documentation/en/flash/
Since nothing in Flash Lite 2.1 has changed I believe
everything is done pretty much the same as it was in Flash 8 (AS2
targets, etc...) Don't quote me on that though...

  • Flash 8 vs flash cs3

    Hi
I would just like to know if you think flash 8 is better than
    flash cs3
    and
does flash cs3 contain ALL the features of flash 8?
and which is easier to use!?!
    Thanks nows
    in advance
    and in the future!

yes yes and yes - usually, most software versions do not
eliminate features - they add to them. CS3
has all of Flash 8 and more. A lot more. Ease of use is
relative - impossible to answer as it is
based on your own learning curve with anything - the
difference between one or the other in terms of
learning curve is simply impossible to pinpoint for you
personally, we don't really know you :)
But if you are proficient with AS2 you may want to relearn
AS3 and this may mean it is more time
consuming/difficult. But you may be a designer/animator with
little or no need for AS.
Hard to say. That's what the 30 day free trial is for - kick
    its tires :)

  • Help: symbol shifting between mac and windows, flash cs3

I'm doing work reviewing flash files created by other users
on mac and windows. I'm using os x 10.5.6. When I open a file
created in windows / flash cs3 some symbols on the stage will have
shifted upwards on the y axis. If I correct the shift and then send
it back to the windows user they see the symbols incorrectly
aligned, as if I had moved symbols around on a correctly aligned
    file.
The strange thing is not everything on the stage is shifted.
Only particular symbols will move, and it's usually symbols only
(not text frames, drawing objects, etc).
I believe there's a general history of bad behavior when
saving flash files and trading them back and forth between mac and
windows, but does anyone know what may be causing this? Or a
    remedy?
    Thank you in advance.
    Peter

also, I tried opening the same files in vista using a mac
mini with vista installed on a bootcamp partition. When opening
other windows authored flash files there I had shifting issues as
well, so I'm not convinced it's strictly a mac vs. windows issue.
Unless it's a flash cs3 on windows xp doesn't like mac flash cs3
    and vista flash cs3...

  • Flash CS3 MovieClip artefact/bug?

    Hi there,
I'm having a serious problem with line artefacts appearing in
    a SWF movie.
They appear between exactly adjacent MovieClip symbols that
should have no intervening space (most obvious when the adjacent
shapes happen to be the same colour).
    My workflow is:
    1) Take a PNG image and Live Trace it in Illustrator CS3 to
    fills, save as AI.
    2) Import CS3 AI to Flash CS3 and convert each shape to
MovieClip and give it a name using funky new wizard.
    3) Manually change the colour of one of these MovieClip
instances to be the same as an adjacent MovieClip instance using
    the Flash IDE
    4) Publish to SWF9
Problem is the published SWF9 has serious line artefacts
appearing between the two shapes that are exactly adjacent and have
the same colour. They should instead visually blend together with
    no thin line between them.
I can overcome this problem by NOT converting the shapes to
MovieClips when I import to Flash CS3 in step 2) above, and then
instead changing the colour of the same shape which is now a
Drawing Object. When I publish this version to SWF9, there is no
line artefact, just perfectly blended adjacent shapes.
Problem now is that I don't have instance names to import my
SWF to Flex and programmatically manipulate the colours of my
    lovely little vector picture.
Can it really be the case that I have to choose between
visual integrity and programmatic functionality after all of the
    recent releases and improvements?
    Many thanks for your thoughts,
    Rich

I found a hack to fix the problem:
Give every MovieClip instance a 0.25 solid linestyle with the
same colour as its fill colour.
This causes all of the adjacent MovieClips to very slightly
bleed into each other, thereby masking the unsightly gaps that were
    appearing before.
Since my original post I discovered that the gap problem was
actually present (although more subtle) in the AI file after using
Live Trace. It became more pronounced after import to Flash CS3,
but can be managed as per above hack.

  • Looking for a sample of the Flash Export from Encore CS3

I am close to upgrading to the CS3 Production Premium and one of the features that intrigues me is the Flash export from Encore CS3. I have searched the Adobe site without success for a sample of what an exported project looks like and functions on the web. Can anyone point me to a on-line sample of an exported project? Thanks in advance :)

'Black Gaps' in Flash usually come from the Flash trying to locate & load the next Flash file. Without a Pre-Loader, you will probably always have this... especially if your quality is set too high. This equates to longer load/buffer times which means there is nothing to display until there is enough video loaded in the buffer to play.
If your ultimate goal is to create Video for the Web... you'll need to learn proper techniques for producing video for the web. It is much different than producing video for TV or DVD. On the web you have to compress your video a lot more therefore you should not use a lot of Motion/Movement in your Characters, Camera, Media, Motion Backgrounds, etc. The less Motion/Movement you have means you can lower your quality settings but still get awesome looking video & good load times eliminating the Black Gaps and making an all around smoother internet presentation/experience.
