Photoshop CS3 Ext./Quits on "Save As" command in Leopard

IMac Leopard/3GB RAM/500GB HD:
CS3 worked fine with IMac Tiger; just upgraded to Leopard and "Save As" command crashes the whole program. Message: "The application Photoshop has unexpected quit. A crash report has been generated." Then Photoshop goes off completely. Command "Save" works; command "Save As" generates the crash. Any help will be appreciated.

Barbara,
First thing I would do is reset Photoshop's preferences at launch. (Press and hold Command + Option + Shift until dialog box appears.)
But other concerns come up here. Before upgrading or installing anything, have you been booting from the OS X disk, then launching Disk Utility and repairing permissions and disk? And doing similar, booting off Alsoft's Disk Warrior? And then repeat repairing permissions immediately after doing the installation or upgrade?
Also, how much free hard drive space do you have?
Last, please know that many of us who have machines that can still run Mac OS X 10.4.11 have not migrated to OS X 10.5.x as there are some compatibility issues we're still concerned about. As a last resort, you may wish to reinstall Mac OS X 10.4.11.
Please get back to us.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS3 updater quits

I recently bought the new iMac and I installed my Adobe CS3 onto it. Everything seems to be working fine but the Photoshop updater would quit upon opening. So I can't get the needed updates to view my RAW files. Also, when I tried to go and download the updates myself, Photoshop shows me this; "Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file." Is there anything I can do to fix this problem? I am using iMac OS X 10.9

The updater for cs3 doesn't work anymore on either windows or mac, probably because adobe disabled it on their side.
When you download the 4.6 camera raw update, it's a manual install.
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4039
Meaning you need to mount the DMG file and then drag the Camera Raw.plugin that is inside the DMG to the right folder
after removing the old camera raw plugin to the trash bin.
The directions are on the page linked to above.

  • V. 10.0.1 Photoshop CS3 Extended quits funny

After I quit Photoshop properly, a message comes up that says Photoshop has unexpectedly quit. This is hilarious, in a sense because I have quit Photoshop and it is not unexpected that it has quit.
Anyway, extreme humor aside, I want to trash preferences as a first attempt at a cure to this problem and need help.
If you agree that trashing preferences should be my first line of assault, can you tell me where the preferences are and the thorough way to be sure I have trashed preferences properly. I do regular system maintenance and have no problem with other applications.
Powerbook G4, 167mhz, 2g ram, 40g free hd space on startup drive.
    TIA,

I can't help as I have the same problem as Saskatchewanobie.  I am running PS CS4 (11.0.1) on a G5 PowerPC, OSX 10.5.8.

  • Photoshop CS3 with Epson Stylus Photo 1400 and Mac Leopard

I have Adobe Photoshop CS3 and an Epson Stylus PHOTO 1400 printer and Mac OS X 10.5.4.
When I print a photo it comes out with excessive ink which smears very easily and has lines in it. It only does it in Photoshop. When I print from any other program it comes out fine. I've seen reviews online where people have printed from Macs and photoshop onto the printer and it worked. I've already contacted Epson, but they said to contact Adobe. Does anybody have any advice?

    Forget Epson's useless tech support.
What you describe is typical of improper printer profile or usage of non-Epson paper, especially paper with gloss. Have you profiled the printer/paper and are you using Epson paper (or other paper and profiles specifically recommended here for Epson photo-quality printers) properly selected?
Like Ramón I am on 10.4.11, not 10.5.x, but I doubt if your described problem is due to the OS version.

  • Photoshop CS3 Unexpectedly Quit

I'm using CS3 on a non-intel Imac running Leopard. Never had a problem until today when all of a sudden Photoshop won't allow me to save anything. Every time I try it unexpectedly quits. It did coincide with Adobe Updater trying to update something and failing.
    Is there an easy answer??

I recalled hearing somewhere that Version Cue was a bad thing so I found this folder,Adobe Version Cue CS3, in the Application Support and deleted it. Bad Idea! Photoshop couldn't even launch. So I used Time Machine and found an earlier copy of the folder and restored it. To my surprise, that somehow fixed my original problem of not being able to save anything.
I wonder if the Adobe Updater corrupted the files inside the folder? Ah, the mysteries of the computer!
By the way, I have about 52 GB left on my HD.

  • Help!  Photoshop CS3 liscensing quit working!

ok so I have had CS3 design suite for a few years now and I have never
had any problems, the past few months I keep getting errors saying the liscensing on this product has quit working and I need to uninstall and reinstall to fix it.  I looked this problem up on the internet and found an article on adobe's site telling me to fix the flexnet issues and whatnot.  I did everything it told me to do and photoshop still wont launch, continues to give me this error!  I uninstall the program and reinstall and it works fine for about 3-4 days then starts this all over again...I am at the end of my rope here, cant get any work done cause photoshop is always down.  I am running windows vista, would this be part of the problem maybe?  any help would greatly be appreciated, Im not sure at this point if I should get a new version of windows or a new computer or what...something is not right with it and I cant keep doing portrait sessions without being able to deliver proofs in a timely manner!

My problem with photoshop and CS3 is that they are  triplicating the
photographs each time I launch and Adobe seems to continue to  give me the excuse
they are working on the problem of catalogues they are aware
of.....................  I am into my 4 th month with this problem and  still have nothing
    resolved.

  • Photoshop CS3 keeps quitting on 10.4.10

I'm running Photoshop 10.0.1 on osx 10.4.10 on a 20inch Imac with 2 gig of ram and the intel processor.
It starts up ok and you can usually work in it for a little bit, but then it will quit unexpectedly (I don't usually expect an app to quit). Sometimes it will quit while I'm working in it and sometimes when I switch to the desktop or another app. It usually happens within 3 mins of starting.
It's been happening for a while now, but I normally just use cs2 Photoshop which is as solid as a rock.
I've tried the upgrade, I've tried trashing the pref file and I've tried re installing, but no success.
    Please help.

    Dirk,
Just a guess...but have you checked your fonts for duplicate application or corruption? Also, did you reset Photoshop's preferences when launching it (not sure what you mean by "tried trashing the preferences? Upon application launch, you should hold down Command + Option + Shift until you see a message.
Most likely unrelated to that, you should also update to Mac OS X v10.4.11.

  • Photoshop CS3 no longer have save options

For some reason, when I try to save my files as some kinds of file types like JPEG or things, the option to is no longer there. It only gives me
    Photoshop
    Cineon
    Large Document Format
    Photoshop PDF
    Photoshop Raw
    PNG
    TIFF
I cannot save in JPEG, GIF, TGA, or any of those other file types I may have missed. I really need help here, I looked all over the help in photoshop and this website and nothing knows what happened.
Oh yeah, the save as... window look also changed for some reason.
Be aware I've been using CS3 for several months now, and it's never done this to me before. This is like, brand new, as of today.

I thought 16 bit was capable of being JPEG? Guess not, changed it to 8 and there it was...
    Oh well...
But that still don't explain why my save as... window changed looks overnight.

  • Photoshop CS3 actions won't save

I'm learning to create actions in PS.
Unfortunately, when I've created an action on my desktop computer, the action lasts for the session only and is not there when I restart PS. I've done this several times, and the result is always the same. The actions remain for the session and work fine, but disappear after a restart.
This doesn't happen on my backup copy on a laptop, but I do my PS work on a desktop and it's a problem.
    Thanks for any help.
    EdB

Your problem may be due to improperly loading the actions. Did you double click the file to load it into Photoshop?
If so, this tutorial on how to load a photoshop action set will help you.

  • Letters in photoshop (cs3 ext...)

Guys how to paste this letter (o letter): to shape of this letter: (o too :-) ): write how to do it! plz. I've to do it today!

Do you want to make the green one grayscale and replace the graycale one with it to give a result something like this?
    Here's one way:
    1.  Select just the O from the green image.  The Quick Selection tool is good for this.
    2.  Edit - Copy.
    3.  Make the other image current, then Edit - Paste.  The O will be much larger.
    4.  Choose Edit - Free Transform, and make the O smaller and the right shape (narrower), then hit the checkmark to commit the transform.
    5.  Image - Adjust - Black & White, make the green lighter.
    6.  Image - Adjust - Curves to make the brightness/density of the O seem about right.
    7.  You can continue to adjust the O separately as it is still on a separate layer.

  • From FCP to Photoshop CS3 Ext. and back

I want to use an adjustment layer in PS on a clip from my timeline. What's the best way to get it out of FC in a useable form, then pop it back in when done?
    Thanks!
    dc

For output, I would spit out a reference movie. PS seems to open them fine. That way there is no extra compression going out. So, in FCP, go to File > Export > Quicktime Movie. In the resulting pop-up window, make sure "Make Movie Self-Contained" is not checked. Now you have a reference to your original media without transcoding and taking a quality hit. PS should open this movie up fine - does for me, using a ProRes HQ reference movie.
Then, coming back out of PS, I'd just use the setting that matches the destination sequence in FCP.

  • Photoshop CS3 crashes on "save as" command

    Hi all,
I'm running Photoshop CS 3 edition on Leopard. Photoshop crashes every time I try to "save as". Has anyone else experienced this issue? I have 2 gigs of ram on a new iMac.
    Thanks,
    John

I too am having the same issue with Photoshop CS3 crashing everytime I SAVE or SAVE AS, and when I choose File>open while the programs is running.
    I am running
    Mac OS X 10.4.11
Mac Book Pro 2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    2GB RAM
I had been running the program successfully for over six months until a couple days ago.
I have verified/repaired permissions, reinstalled the entire Creative Suite, trashed preferences and reduced memory usage all with no luck.

  • Photoshop cs3 quits unexpectedly

photoshop cs3  is quitting when i open images.
if the images are over 500MB and i don't wait for the preview to open before opening it crashes immiadiatly. if i wait it doesn't crash straight away, but after opening two or three images it crashes.
i have never had this problem before.
i have repaired the pernissions in disc utility. still quitting....
    does anyone have any ideas?
this is driving me nuts....is there anyone out there?

i don't wait for the preview to open before opening it
I don’t understand what that means.
Anyway as with all unexplainable Photoshop-problems You might try trashing the prefs (after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences You’ve changed) by pressing command-alt-shift on starting the program or starting from a new user-account.

  • Problem when launching Photoshop CS3 in OSX 10.5.1 (Leopard)

When I launch Photoshop CS3 it quits and a message comes: "can't launch Photoshop because file is locked. Go to 'File' > 'Get Info' and unlock the file". But the file is not locked. Any idea? Thanks.

Thanks for your comments. I tried to look for the locked file but I didn't succeed. In the Console message is:
    "03/12/07 21:30:11 [0x0-0x5f05f].com.adobe.Photoshop[998] file://localhost/Applications/Adobe P"
I can't find where the problem is. (And can't work with CS3 on Leopard).
    Thanks for your help. Andy

  • "Application Photoshop has unexpectedly quit"

    Help!
I get this message when I try to open CS3:  "Application Photoshop has unexpectedly quit"
I recently upgraded to Snow Leopard.  Could that be related?
    I'm using a Mac Pro3, 2x2.8 Ghz Quad Core Intel Xeon, 6GB 800 MHz DDR2FB-DIMM
I've read through all of the forums and FAQ to try to find a solution.  I've tried the shift-alt-cmd start
I've sumbitted the crash report several times, can anyone please help?  I tried to paste the crash data here, but I'm having trouble trying to figure out
    how to copy/paste it here.
    Thanks in advance!

Well I thought I had the report pasted in....
Why can't I paste the report?  I copied it, but when I try to paste it here, the only option I have when I right click to paste is: Insert link, insert image, alignment and insert table.
Maybe I better get some coffee.  It's still early morning here.
