Photoshop CS3 . . . Is there a PDF Manual available?

I find the PS CS3 online manual a bit of a pain.
Is there a PDF one anywhere that can be downloaded?

Thank you . . . . . . . that's just what I wanted.
It took ages to download (about 20 minutes).
Is that normal or was it my broadband that was crawling?
Incidentally, is there one for Photoshop Elements 8 and Bridge CS3 and CS4?

Is there a service manual available to help trouble shoot a MF8350CD MFP?  Its noisy and grinding, but still prints.

    Hi bryanmonger.
Please note that Canon does not provide service manuals or instructions on disassembling the machine.  If you are hearing a grinding noise in the machine, there could be a few causes, such as, the type of toner cartridges you are using, a loose or broken part in the machine, or an issue with one of the assemblies.

is there a PDF manual for iMovie 13

A hard copy is a nice convenience when you really want to study and use the features without constantly interrupting the editing, and sharing valuable screen space to the online manual.
I have prepared a WORD and PDF document for download at this public Google Drive link.
All windows and viewing panes have been expanded. The entire document is ~160 pages.

  • What are the specs to validate a PDF file? is there a PDF validator available from Adobe?

I have the following situation: In our company use a software product to schedule our engineers and inform our customers when one of our engineers visits them, to do this the following steps happen:
the software product is running on a SQL server 2008 R2 database and calls a standard function from SQL server to create a PDF file (PDF version 1.3)
Then this PDF file is attached to an Email which is then sent to our customers.
Some customers don't use email but they use a fax. For this we have use an email2fax product from our telephone provider which translates the email to a fax.
When the software product creates the email, attaches the PDF and sends it to the email2fax solution the attached is discarded.
The email2fax should send the attachment as well but it's not doing that.
When I manually send an email with an attached PDF (PDF version 1.5) the attachment is sent to the customer as a fax
When I open the original PDF file created by SQL server and save it again as PDF version 1.5, then attach it to an email and send it to the email2fax the attachment gets send as well.
When I open the original PDF file created by SQL server and save it again as PDF version 1.3, then attach it to an email and send it to the email2fax the attachment gets send as well.
When we send the email from the software product, with the PDF created by SQL server in version 1.3, to another email address the attachment is included in the mail.
    some conclusions so far:
The PDF file in version 1.3 is created in SQL server and is usable in all products which read PDF files, except in the email2fax solution
the email to the email2fax software contains the PDF attachment
the email2fax software can handle a PDF version 1.3 file but not the file created by SQL server.
We gave these results to the supplier of the email2fax solution and their response is: "A PDF file is a valid PDF file when it is created by Adobe software"
My conclusion would be that they are wrong as PDF is a standard created by Adobe but that doesn't mean other software products can't comply with this standard and create a valid PDF file, but I have no way of telling them how they are wrong and without a stronger argument I can't convince them to investigate the problem.
    extra info:
Portable Document Format - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
    My questions are now:
Is there a PDF validation tool available from Adobe which would confirm that our PDF file generated by SQL server is a valid PDF file?
    Or
Does anyone know if SQL server 2008R2 does create invalid PDF files and if there is a fix available to solve this behavior?
Any help in understanding this problem is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your reply and your time reading this long question.
    Regards,
    Arjen

It is a high order probability that your SQL's report generator is creating the PDF, not Acrobat (which by design and EULA cannot be used in as/with server).
That the report generator outputs to an old-old version of PDF bears this out.
Wiki articles on PDF are very nice for those high level intro summaries.
To know / understand PDF you purchase and study the ISO Standard for PDF (ISO 32000-1:2008).
Rather than "PDF validation" you may want to consider addressing the appearent root cause of the problem(s).
You can change the email2fax application to one that can deal with older PDF versions.
You can change the report generator to one that can output to the ISO Standard.
(Perhaps the in-use application can be configured to output to the current version of PDF (i.e., the ISO Standard).
    Be well...

  • Where can I learn how to use Photoshop?  Is there an online manual?

I just downloaded the 30-day free trial and watched some tutorials.  So far, OK, but not enough!  Can anyone tell me where to find instructions?

    Go to Online help page
    Photoshop Help | Photoshop Help
and on the left half way down the page there are links to two PDF files
    https://helpx.adobe.com/pdf/photoshop_reference.pdf
    http://help.adobe.com/archive/en/photoshop/cc/2013/photoshop_reference.pdf  (via the archive page)
But I always use the online facility because it is easier to search and find what you are looking for.  The CC PDF is just short of 800 pages for instance.  That would take a lot of reading through!
Adobe publish their Classroom in a Book series, which break down learning the apps into manageable chunks, but I still think that too dry and difficult as a way to learn Photoshop.  Because it is such a complex application that can do so many things, it is MUCH better to learn those aspects that you have an immediate and ongoing use for.  That way you avoid the 'use it or loose it' trap.  You don't need to learn it all in one go.  In fact there will be large chunks you will _never_ need to learn because you'll never have a use for them.
So I would suggest getting to grips with layers and layer masks, as a first step.  Then when you get stuck, come back and ask on the forum.

  • HH3 just received is there a user manual available...

Hi, I'm having Infinity 2 installed Thursday ( hopefully ) but I just wanted to know if there's a full configuration manual for the HH3 available anywhere. I've tried Googling to no avail.
Basically I hope to change the following, after install:
    SSID
    WPA code
    INternal ip address ( from 192.168.1 254 to 192.168.0.254)
I want to set fixed IP addresses to some internal devices such as Printers for which I use IP printing. It'll be easier to be able to set them within their existing .0.254 ranges rather than visiting each PC and changing the printer ip addy.
Also I'd like to not use the Smart wireless thing and set the channel myself. We live in reasonably secluded area and channel 6 has served me well for the last 4 years.
If I can't do all fo this I'll just use my existing Billion 7800N but wanted to give the HH3 a try.
Thanks for any replies and sorry to have droaned on for so long.

    Hi graystreet,
Couldn't find a manual on all the settings but here's the trouble shooting guide (this is the ADSL version, but most apply to you as well) BT Home Hub 3 - BT Total Broadband troubleshooting guide (self installed)
Also I have done some quick steps for you:
    Key:
    > is Go To
Letters in Bold are the menu titles to click on
    1) Logging into your HomeHub 3 for the first time
To get to your HH's GUI you can either go to http://bthomehub.home or http://192.168.1.254 or http://api.home
Once you have opened up the GUI then it will ask you to re create a password to prevent your settings being changed without permission. Follow the onscreen instructions on how to find your default Admin password (found on the plastic pullout card on the back of the homehub) and create a new password.
If your HH gets reset the you will need to do this process again.
    2) Changing SSID & Changing WPA2 Wireless Key aswell as Wifi Channels
SETTINGS > ADVANCED SETTINGS ( click continue to advanced settings) > Wireless
Here you can change the SSID and Wireless Key as well as the Wifi Channel
    3) Changing DHCP IP Range
SETTINGS > ADVANCED SETTINGS ( click continue to advanced settings) >HOME NETWORK > IP ADDRESSES
You can select what range you want. I think there is already a predefined setting in that page to set the range to
    172.16.0.64 - 172.16.255.254
If your HomeHubs does get reset then all the settings will go back to defualt
    Hope that helps,
    Cheers

  • Photoshop CS3 quits when opening PDF files

Does anyone have this problem? Because it happens to me a lot. I'll try to open a PDF with Photoshop, choose my settings, then it rasterizes the PDF and unexpectedly quits.
Then I'll try changing the color setting from RGB to CMYK and it will work. Or sometimes vice-versa. It is very annoying. I've submitted bug reports to Adobe as well as about 5 crash reports when it happened. It's not on the same file, but many different PDFs.
I have Mac OS 10.5.x now, but it did the same thing in 10.4.x
I think it has to do with the RGB vs CMYK color setting because it usually opens when changing it from one setting to the other. But I don't understand WHY that would cause PS to crash.

just created a new user account.
same problem. tried opening a cmyk pdf file in rgb mode and photoshop quits. opened in cmyk mode and it opened ok.
then tried opening a different cmyk pdf in cmyk mode and photoshop quits.
do you that have responded have intel macs?
have you tried opening a cmyk pdf in rgb mode?
just trying to find out what's causing this.

  • Camera raw and Photoshop CS3 from Lightroom

(2.5) If I open a raw image from Windows Explorer or Bridge (which I don't use much), Camera Raw 4.6 opens. It doesn't open if I Edit In Photoshop CS3 from Lightroom, but says "This version of Lightroom may require the Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in version 5.5 for full compatibility. Camera Raw version 4.6 is the latest version available for Photoshop CS3".
There are two choices: Render using Lightroom and Open Anyway. If I say the former, it doesn't use the file name, but does something like -2.tif.
I'm not sure what these two choices actually do.
Secondly, if things were working properly, would Lightroom actually open the Camera Raw window? If so, is there anything I can do short of upgrading PS to CS4?
    Thanks.

Just a little history of the profiles being displayed for your camera model. The camera calibration tab only displays the profiles that are specific to your camera and model. The earler profiles were named after the version of ACR that was in use when they were created.
    So.
ACR 4.2 the first profile created for your camera model when support was introduced.
ACR 4.4, Adobe created/ updated new profiles for most of the supported camera models with this release of ACR.
Adobe Standard Beta, updated profile when the Beta of ACR 5.0 and LR 2.0 were introduced.
Adobe Standard, Updated profile for the final release of ACR 5.0 and LR 2.0. This then is the latest profile created for your camera model. I think it should be the closest to your camera standard.
Adobe did not create any other camera matching profiles Vivid, Neutral etc other than for the more popular Nikon and Canon models.  I have an Olympus so I am in the same boat.

  • Clipping in Photoshop CS3 rendered Differently in Lightroom 1.4.1

I called Adobe Tech Support in an attempt to get an answer to my question about why Lightroom (version 1.4.1) seems to show more clipping of an image than viewing clipping of the same image in Photoshop CS3 by using a curves adjustment (show clipping box checked). They did not give me a reasonable answer.
I typically import my images into Lightroom, then make adjustments there, export to CS3 as 16-bit tiffs in ProPhoto RGB Colorspace, then make further color and contrast adjustments in Photoshop. My monitor is calibrated using a Colorvision Spyder2. Color management settings in Photoshop are as follows: ProPhoto RGB Colorspace, US Web Coated (SWOP) v 2, Gray Dot Gain 20%, Spot Dot Gain 20%, Color Management Policies are to preserve embedded profiles for RGB, CMYK, and Gray, profile mismatches are to ask when opening and when pasting, and to ask when opening images with missing profiles; Conversion options are Engine Adobe (ACE), Intent Relative Colormetric, Use Black Point Compensation checked, Use Dither (8-bit/channel images). There are no items checked under advanced controls.
I view proof setup using the same paper profile in CS3 and the print module of Lightroom (perceptual intent, black point compensation checked, simulate paper color and simulate black ink options are unchecked unless being viewed full screen) Sometimes I also use the rendering intent of relative colormetric with black point compensation checked. I am seeing evidence of more clipping almost always in Lightroom (Develop and Library Modules both) than in Photoshop CS3. I understand that the Library Module uses Adobe RGB colorspace rather than ProPhoto, but I still see more clipping in the Develop Module view of the same tiff than its clipping representation in Photoshop CS3. There is a substantial difference (not a small one) in the amount of clipping shown.
I understand that Lightroom Develop Module is using a Perceptual intent and that the default option in Photoshop is absolute colormetric, but I still do not think this completely explains the problem, especially since I have the soft proofing set up to use perceptual intent most often. By the way, I never check the box for preserve RGB numbers.
Can anyone explain why the difference in clipping shown and which one should be taken as more accurate: Lightroom clipping rendering or Photoshop CS3 clipping rendering?
Please note that I ultimately export the final images as jpegs (8-bit) in srgb colorspace before posting on the web. These photos are ultimately ordered from an online printer (usually from Mpix).
Thanks for any help you can give me. Best wishes.
    Bob

    Hi,
Thanks for your responses. In answer to Jao's questions:
Yes, I turn on the clipping warnings in Lighroom (shortcut j). I am viewing a 16-bit tiff in ProPhoto RGB (that has made the "round trip" from Lightroom to Photoshop CS3 and back again to Lightroom) in Lightroom using the clipping warnings. The clipping shown in CS3 using the adjustment, curves, show clippings are much less than what is shown using the clipping warnings of the same 16-bit tiff in Lightroom.
My workflow is to import Canon Raw (using sRGB, rather than Adobe RGB) into Lightroom. Make color, sharpening, tone, ect. adjustments in Lightroom, then export to Photoshop CS3 as a 16-bit tiff in ProPhoto RGB colorspace. I make additional adjustments to color, tone, skin tones, noise, touchup, sharpening, ect. and then save the file. It reappears again in Lightroom. When I have the clipping warnings on (shortcut j), this tiff appears to have considerably more clipping than on a curves layer showing clipping in Photoshop. Ultimately, I then export these same photos as jpeg (8-bit)in srgb and post to the web where they can be ordered from an online printing service such as Mpix.
Thanks for any help you can give me.
    Bob
