Photoshop CS3 (nor CS2) won't launch since CS3 install

Since installing Adobe Creative Suite 3 Production Premium I can no longer open Photoshop. It repeatedly crashes on the launch window. For the sceptical, my CS3 Production Premium collection was all legitimately authorised and registered.
Of the other CS3 apps that installed (can't install Encore, Premiere or Soundbooth on PowerPC) they all open and run perfectly fine.
I uninstalled all CS3 and re-installed CS2. Now Photoshop CS2 won't open either (but everything else is still fine). Exactly the same problem, Photoshop crashes during the launch window.
What has CS3 changed to my system that prevents Photoshop opening and can I correct the issue? From searches on this subject Someone suggested repairing permissions before and after installing CS3. This had no effect.

You can try trashing and regenerating Photoshop preferences when you launch.
Hold down command/option/shift while launching Photoshop. You will be asked if you want to get rid of Photoshop settings. Choose yes.
See if this works; you may have to reset some of your Photoshop preferences afterward. I'm not sure why you can't install the other applications.
Also, it may have something to do with activation; did you activate your copy of CS3? You should be able to have CS3 and CS2 both running as far as activation is concerned, but are they on the same drive? This might be a problem if one version is trying to read the other's settings during launch.

GarageBand won't launch since last upgrade

I haven't been able to launch GarageBand since I updated it from the "Software Update" program. It downloaded around 1 Gig of instruments and loops and won't launch since then, jumps once in the dock and stays still.
I tried deleting prefs and it didnt do anything. I created another user account and it couldn't launch it from there either.
I was wondering if anyone had the same problem or knew a way to solve it... since I just bought a midi keyboard! Just my luck.

Safari won't open since I installed Firefox.

Safari won't open since I installed Firefox. I keep getting a window that asks me if I want to "Reopen" Safari in a large window that includes error messages, lots of them. I click on "Reopen" and a smaller window opens up with the same option to "Reopen", but Safari just goes back to the large window again; the one with all the error messages.

Quit the application. Force quit if necessary.
Relaunch it by holding down the shift key and clicking its icon in the Dock. From the menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
to get rid of any cookies or other data left by the server. Open your Downloads folder and delete anything you don't recognize.

Bridge won't launch from CS3 - intermittent problem

Hi folks I dont think I am alone in experiencing this problem as a quick google threw up other sufferers but the suggested fix update everything at the Adobe website has not fixed the problem, so I am hoping that someone here can shed some light. Problem 1; Bridge will sometimes not open from CS3 - ie when I click on the icon , or if Bridge is set up to open automatically when CS3 opens, I sometimes get an error message that reads error 2:Photoshop is undefined. Line: 1 ->photoshop10.invoke bridge (false, false, ); When this happens Bridge will still open fine from the start menu, so it is not disastrous but is annoying because the keyboard shortcut <shift ctrl W > won't work either (to close a file in CS3 and bring the Bridge window up on screen) - a similar error message is received when using Shift Ctrl W as when trying to open bridge. Problem 2; the fly out menus will not remain on screen. Eg if I have a layer and want to access the blend mode menu - if I click on the menu in the layer palette the menu appears for a second and then disappears. Problem 3: If I try to create a new action as soon as I click on the "new action" in the actions palette the word "scripts" appears multiple times in the action - it just produces line after line of this until I click the button to stop the action. Problem 4 (may be related to problem 2 ?); in the crop tool - I can't get the cursor to remain in the width and height boxes - so I can't control the dimensions of the crop (which is currently stuck at my last size of 3 x 4 cm - not much use to man nor beast). Most frustratingly of all - these are all intermittent problems. Things I have tried - updating CS3 and bridge from Adobe site, opening CS3 and bridge before any other program, not running any other program at the same time, uninstalling and reinstalling (after disabling all antivirus etc stuff), but so far nothing works. I am using a 1 year old Dell PC, lots of RAM and hard drive available, only working from internal drives, no new hardware or software loaded (although there might have been a windows update - but this occurred after the problems started and has not noticeably changed things). Windows XP pro. Recently done whole system scan for viruses etc and no problems found. Please help, this has been going on since I loaded CS3 a few months ago and it is driving me nuts. Amanda - One consistent recommendation that has fixed a lot of problems, especially if program worked before, and does not now, is to reset preferences. This is not the same as uninstalling and reinstalling, as the preference file is not affected with that operation.
Since it is intermittent problem this will probably not help, but worth a shot.
When it does not work is there some process that is running, like a anti-virus scan, or?
What about startup scripts in Bridge? Disable any you do not need.

Itunes won't launch since update

Seems like i have the same problem as a lot of people.
Since last update itunes won't launch
Just get a white screen and the blue circle going around the pointer.
Have tried the complete unistalll and reinstall without success
One thing i noticed is that when it freezes and i open task manager to close it down it says 32 bit next to itunes not 64 bit?
Is the wrong version being downloaded?

This is a user-to-user troubleshooting forum. Folks come here to troubleshoot their problems. So we, quite naturally assume that's what you were trying to do, and reply to try to help you fix it. The reason why you see so many people here saying there are problems is that this is where people come if they have problems and want to fix them.
If you believe the problem is all at Apple's end, and would like to register a sort of complaint with them (rather than do any troubleshooting of your problem), then it makes a heck of a lot more sense to contact Apple directly via the product feedback pages. (Because this is primarily an user-to-user forum, there's no guarantee an Apple person will see your post here. Programs won't launch since 10.4.10 upgrade

Anybody out there?
Since upgrading to 10.4.10, several programs won't launch. MS Word, Disk Utility, Adobe Acrobat, and others. Safari is just plain gone.
I'm no whiz, but I'm not a novice either. My intel-based iMac did not have any system disks when I got it from Apple (don't ask me why).
I would think I could just download a copy of Safari, but all I can find is upgrades and they won't install.
Q: How do I reinstall Safari? How do I get system disks?

He's already indicated that he solved the problem the same way you did. For both posters, get a bootable, external HD, and make a bootable backup/clone before updating. That allows you to revert to the previous good state without having to reinstall everything. Then, peruse these

Mail won't launch since Lion upgrade

I've just upgraded to Lion and now Mail won't launch. It appears in the title bar but doesn't launch, it also won't quit. Any ideas? I'm worried about losing all my mail.

I had the same problem, and tried recommendations that were posted on other threads. It finally occurred to me that I should try signing out and back in on the Mobile Me system preference and it worked. Hope this helps...

Ditto with Mavericks on a new rMBP. Migrated data over from another MBP on Mountain Lion, Mail.app hangs on launch on the new one (with Mavericks.)

Address Book Won't Launch after re-installing system.

Hope someone has a suggestion here. I just installed a new HD and made a nice clean install of system, starting with original that came with my 1st edition G5 Tower and then upgraded to 10.3, then to 10.4.11 (which is where I stop), performing the Apple Software updates along the way. Everything seems to be fine. Boots extremely fast, just like when it was a baby.
Everything except Address Book. I had been importing e-mails, etc. from my 2nd HD so that I could erase it and went to import from my old Address Book and it won't launch. Does the little animation in the Dock, but immediately quits. If I try to open it through Mail, it immediately kills the Mail application.
I really don't want to have to go through the lengthy installation process again. Does anone have any thoughts as to what might be causing this? Even the version of Address Book on my 2nd HD is doing the same thing.
Any help would be appreciated.

Ok. For those who are interested, I did a search and was able to find some things to look for. Bottom line is that it is now fixed. For some reason, the required info was not contained within the new system's Application Support directory. In comparing the same directory on both the new system and the one on my 2nd HD, I discovered that there was only one thing in the new directory, while the directory of the other system had many things (including Address Book and DVD Player).
I hadn't yet launched DVD Player since installing, when I did, I got an error indicating that there was an error starting DVD Player. I copied the directory from the 2nd system into the Application Support on the new system and it then launched instantly.
I'm not sure why these things didn't get placed in Application Support under normal installation, but that is what the problem was.

My Safari hasn't opened and functioned properly since I installed OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 on my Mac Book Pro. Processor 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, Memory 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3. Is it possible to reinstall Safari?

There is no need to download anything to solve this problem.
You may have installed the "Genieo" or "InstallMac" ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it.
Back up all data before making any changes.
Besides the files listed in the linked support article, you may also need to remove this file in the same way:
~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.genieo.completer.ltvbit.plist
If there are other items with a name that includes "Genieo" or "genieo" alongside any of those you find, remove them as well.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, then you may have one of the other kinds of adware covered by the support article. Follow the rest of the instructions in the article.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. Chances are you got it from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates
if it's not already checked.

CC Applications PS, etc Won't launch in new install of ML on Imac Platform Config Error 213:5

CC Applications PS, Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat Pro will not launch in newly installed Mountain Lion OS on Imac Platform. Attempts to launch and run CC applications results in Configuration Error: 213:5. Further, On board PS and Lightroom applications fail to Launch. CS5.1 install CD (DVD) ejects and will not install. The installed CS5.1 Photoshop failed. Attempted downloads. No luck still could not launch. Attempted to re-install from Adobe installation Disc ...Disc is ejected after 3 or 4 minutes.

Have noted that the volumes are sporadically re-organized under System Finder window after using a file sometimes.
Fille Permissions are often not correct and change without authorization both in systems files and within indvidual applications' children files. I will continue to pursue this vein...
but doesn't a re-install use existent permissions?
I am in way over my head here and know it!...
