Photoshop cs3 on Leopard 10.5.5 printing issues

Our photo lab recently updated both our computers and the Adobe Photoshop program. We are now using Photoshop cs3 on iMacs with Leopard 10.5.5. We have an Epson Stylus 2200 and the print quality is now very poor. Can anyone recommend a printer that produces high quality prints on this system with this software?

Yes, I have updated Photoshop and also contacted Epson...the newest driver is for mac 10.4...they are no longer making this printer and this is the only available driver.

    unexpectedly."
For starters, you're using a beta version, dated Dec 8, 2006...which is not final and still contains bugs... CS3 was not released until Sprint 2007. and second, based on it's file name, your application appears to have been illegally "Kracked"...hense the [k].
If you do in fact have a valid legal license of Photoshop, you should probably post your question on Adobe's forums:

  • Photoshop CS3 crashes when I try to print from Epson R2400

    Hi,
For no reason that I can see, when I try to print from my Epson R2400, Photoshop CS3 crashes.
It was working fine up to yesterday with no issues.
I have re installed the drivers etc but no use.
I also cannot choose Printer Manages Colors, as it is now greyed out.
When the the Printer dialogue opens and I click on the Page Set up I get the Error that "Photoshop CS3 has encountered a problem and needs to close"
    Any ideas please?

    Thanks for the replies.
I understand now that the procedure is probably the reason.
I was just experimenting as LAB colours are colours we see through our eyes, while RGB, CMYK etc are "computer" colours and so I use LAB colours a lot, before switching back to RGB.
I normally switch to LAB mode and click on the Lightness channel, then play with adjustments of that channel. This time I decided to mess around and see what would happen if I removed all channels except the Lightness one....
Converting to greyscale for me is not enough unfortunately and LAB B+W provides much better contrast and tone than hitting CTRL+Shift+U to greyscale.
Again, I understand what you say, my point being though that Photoshop should not crash because I incorrectly remove the channels, perhaps a warning to tell me I can't do it would be better.
I'll pass this onto Adobe anyway.
    cheers

  • Adobe Photoshop CS3 and Leopard problem changing number values in the tools

I know that Adobe has mentioned on their site that this is a known problem and that the fix is going to come from a Leopard update. I have not seen anything on this problem from the Mac side so I am wondering when a fix can likely be expected. The Adobe link is http://www.adobe.com/support/pdfs/PhotoshopCS3_LeopardIssue.pdf
    Any clue?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
This is a user-to-user forum, so no one here works for Apple. None of us have any idea what they have running behind the scenes. I'm afraid you're just going to have to wait and see like the rest of us. It's against the Terms of Use of the Apple Discussions to speculate about unannounced or unreleased products, but the Macworld Expo starts in San Francisco in a little more than two weeks. In the past, Apple has released software updates at the same time as the expo to support new software and hardware. No one here can speculate if this will include the update you're looking for, however.

  • Snow Leopard 10.6.8 printing issue

I'm in an office that prints to a central printer--a Konica BizHub, model C203.  We've all been printing fine.  Two of our 3 Mac users applied the 10.6.8 update and now we can't print to our shared printer.  The BizHub shows as paused.  When we go to the BizHub status window and hit the Resume Printer button it momentarily goes to ready and then goes back to paused status.  The one Mac user who stayed at 10.6.7 can still print to it, as can the PC users in the office.
Anybody else seeing something like this?

  • Adobe TechNote for Photoshop CS3

Adobe has posted an article of suggested fixes for the following issue:
"When you print from Adobe Photoshop CS3 or Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended to a PostScript capable printer on Mac OS X 10.4, the image only partially prints or many pages print with random, garbled characters at the top of the page."

Printing on my Brother HL-5150D was perfect in Tiger MacOS 10.4 which is addressed in Adobe's document, but this problem started for me in Leopard. The Adobe suggestions don't seem to have any effect for me in Leopard.

  • Photoshop CS3 shuts down after opening a PSD file with layers

Hello, I have met a problem with Photoshop CS3 (Windows XP SP2, no network printer) - after opening a PSD file with layers (saved with CS2) Photoshop shuts down. No error message.
Can some of you help me? (The only software that I have installed after Creative Suite CS3 is Corel X4. I have installed no upgrades of CS3.)

    > I have installed no upgrades of CS3
    You should!
Even if it doesn't help here you should.

  • Photoshop CS3 Web Premium compatible with Windows 8.1

I have just received a new Computer with Windows 8.1 and want to install Photoshop CS3 Web Premium on it. Are there any issues with this Operating System and Photoshop CS3 Web Premium?

Are there any issues with this Operating System and Photoshop CS3 Web Premium?
You bet there are. Starting with Win 7 the print engine and certain other parts of Windows have changed and naturally the new security menchanisms may require compatibility modes and a lot of trickery already upon install. It's not impossible, but issues should definitely be expected - some small, some more critical.

  • Lightroom and using the Edit in Photoshop CS3 Options

Today, I installed Lightroom v1.1 and Photoshop CS3 v10.0.1 I have an issue...Using Lightroom, I import a photo (JPG) into LR Library. Then, I right-click the photo and select the option to Edit In Photoshop CS3. This opens a window within Lightroom and there are three available options concerning What to Edit. Two Options reference Edit a Copy and One Option references Edit the Original. The two referencing Editing a Copy always says Lightroom cannot prepare the file for editing and that the file cannot be opened. If I select the last option to Edit the Original, that photo is brought into PS CS3 for Editing.
This is also the situation with files TIFF and PSD.
This is also the situation if I use a different Photo Editor other than PS CS3.
I have read the user manual and if I read correctly, the Two Options which do not work should also work. Or does my thinking need correction?
I would appreciate someone helping me with the understanding of this issue.
    Thanks.
    James

Thanks to you both. I do appreciate your responses. Please keep them coming.
I think Judith has a point.
I believe I should be able to Import a JPG from somewhere (HD, Floppy Drive, CD Drive)into the LR Library and then call upon Photoshop CS3 to Edit that JPG. If I am not incorrect, when reading the Lightroom Documentation, I see where this action is supported.
The action is: Right-Click a JPG (also TIF and PSD as well) in the LR Libary. From the menu presented, select Edit in the Adobe Photoshop CS3. A new Window appears from which to select either of two Edit a Copy Actions (with LR adjustments or without LR adjustments), I alway receive a Warning Window saying: Lightroom was unable to prepare the selected file at C:\Documents and Settings\My Name\My Documents\My Pictures\photo.JPG (or TIF or PSD) for editing. It will not be opened.
If I select Edit the Original, the photo is brought into CS3 for editing. This selection is the only one which work. I wish to point out that the Copy File Options are grayed-out with the Edit Original Selection. And, the Copy File Options are NOT Grayed-out with Copy Options.
In summary, if Copy File Options available, the JPG (or TIF or PSD) will not be prepared by Lighrooom for editing in CS3. My Copy File Options show TIFF and PSD pnly; no JPG. If I read correctly, I cannot Copy a JPG for editing into CS3. What I do not understand is if I have a TIFF or PSD in the Library, the Copy Option still fails to execute. The point John has made about RAW requires me to look into that aspect. I need to know more about that.
Can anyone right-click a JPG in the LR Libary. Then select Edit in CS3. Then use either of the two Copy Functions Selections for the action of that JPG being prepared by LR and brought into CS3 for editing?
This action will not work for me.
I do plan to update my version soon.
All replys and suggestions are welcomed.
    Regards,
    James

  • Fonts Not Available in Photoshop CS3 (Windows 7)?

    Hello,
My desktop computer crashed yesterday and I had to run out last night and pick up a new unit as I'm trying to meet a number of deadlines (and not having much luck getting the work done in my laptop).
The new computer uses Windows 7 as the Operating System.  It has already presented a ton of headaches... I've already spent in excess of ten hours trying to reinstall hardware and dealing with the various quirks that arise.
The latest of these issues is that I cannot seem to access some fonts from Photoshop CS3.  I'm having the same issue, to a lesser extent, in Illustrator 10.
For instance, after downloading the Helvetica and Helvetica Neue families in Windows 7, they do not appear in the Type menu in Photoshop.  There are a ton of useless pre-installed fonts there, but not the ones I installed.  If I try to access them from Illustrator, it displays only one weight of each typeface (for instance, it displays Helvetica Neue 65 but omits 55, 75, 95, etc....).
The issue does not occur for all fonts.  For instance, I installed AvantGarde and it displays just fine.  In that instance, the fonts were TrueType whereas the Helvetica font files are Type 1 font files.
Can anyone help?  I've already lost a day-and-a-half of work, and can't afford to spend much more time screwing around with this nonsense.

    Bill,
Thanks for your thoughtul and thorough reply.
To clarify, I do have a copy of ATM, but just have not installed it on my XP computer or this new one.  It is on my Illustrator 10 install disk.  Not sure if it will work on Windows 7, as Illustrator 10 would not run on the new computer until I set the compatibility to work with Vista and earlier.  I suppose that I could install it and see if it works.  Might be worth a shot.
I will check out the software titles you referenced.
With regard to font installation on Windows 7, there are three techniques as far as I can tell.  They are:
    1) Drag and drop method: Works the same as it always has.  Simply drag the typefaces into the Fonts folder or Control Panel > Fonts.
    2) You can navigate to where a font file is located (the desktop, for instance) and then right-click on it and choose "Install."  This is what I referred to previously, and I tried it after drag-and-drop did not work.
    3) For the third method (according to Windows 7 documentation I found online at http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7desktop/thread/324ecdc6-8574-4527-8099- efc430bf550f), you are supposed to be able to go into the Control Panel > Fonts, press ALT (to display the menu) and then choose File > Install New Font.  You would then be prompted to navigate to the typeface you want to install.  However, this option is not available on my computer.  When I tried it, I can access the File menu, but "Install New Font" is not listed on the dropdown.

  • Mac O/S X with CS3 printing issues to a Xerox

I have multiple systems running 10.4.x and 10.5.x using CS3. We can get Acrobat to print when we select "Print as Image", all other applications in the suite will NOT print until we convert them to a PDF. Things were fine when we were using CS2, but once we upgraded all our systems to CS3 we've had nothing but printing issues. What can we expect when CS4 is pushed out?!? Does any one have any recommendations how to FIX this printing problem, we've reloaded our print drivers multiple times, but NO luck?
Thanks for any ideas or resolutions.
    Bob

Reset the printing subsystem and then make sure you install the latest
    printer drivers.

  • Printing No Longer Available Option Mac OS X Leopard Photoshop CS3

I run Photoshop CS3 on my Mac OS X Leopard.  In the past few weeks, Photoshop will no longer let me print .psd files that I have created.  The "Print..." option remains greyed out and the shortcut also will not work.  Photoshop will still print modified .jpg files, and printing is not an issue on any other program I run.
I tried restarting my computer, running the Software update and running the Adobe update, but none of these attempts fixed my problem.  I am still able to print older .psd files that I previously created using the same program.
When previewing these .psd files with printing issues on my desktop using the spacebar, the images appear small, grainy and darker than the correct image, rather than the full-size preview. Again, this is not an issue for any other files on my computer, including older .psd files.
It appears to be a Photoshop issue rather than a printer issue, any suggestions would be much appreciated.  Thank you!

What is the bit depth of the files that don't print.
Not knowing what printer you have I can only guess the PSDs that don't print are 16 or 32 bit.

  • Photoshop CS3 won't run after upgrade to leopard

yo I am having the same problems, any new suggestions on how to get photoshop to work. I have tried everything.
Capt. Lou, welcome to discussions. However, you need to be a little more clear.
When you say everything, what everythings have you tried?
    What I have done:
    Reinstalled CS3
    Repair Permissions
Boot into Disk Warrior and Repair Disk
Boot into Leopard disk and run Disk Repair
    What I have not done:
Archive and reinstall operating system: Leopard
    Remove 3rd Party Ram
Issues I am having besides CS3 not opening:
Missing PDF tab on Print Dialog
Computer won't go into sleep mode
    Mail won't remember junk email
I don't have any of these problems on my MBP. Go figure.

  • Color Management, Photoshop CS3 and Epson Inkjet Printer

I have been down this road before but here goes again...
    Im using Photoshop CS3.
Im printing on an Epson Stylus Photo RX680 using Photo quality inkjet paper.
I know this printer is capable of very good quality prints.
Thing is I can not figure out the correct combination of color management settings to get a decent print out of Photoshop or InDesign.
I have read that you are supposed to turn off all printer color management and let Adobe manage the color. Doesnt seem to work.
I just get overly magenta images that look awful.
If I let the Epson color management control color I can get a lot closer but the print out is far from accurate or high quality.
So what the heck IS the correct protocol for printing to an Epson inkjet printer from an Adobe app.
BTW, I do seem to get a fairly decent print out of something like a PDF which I understand does its own postscript conversion before hitting the printer.
Is this what my issue is?
Does Photoshop or InDesign require postscript ripper software to get decent results out of an inkjet printer?

Have spent hours with both Adobe and Epson support people. I've read several of these forums. Is there an insurmountable problem with CS3 and Epson (2200/2400 are mine)? I have the Leopard patches and upgrade 10.5.4.
With Photoshop managing the color I get prints that are slightly underexposed and carry a pink cast. Color management is off. With the printer managing the color I get prints that are too green and dark. Epson advice here is to have color management off. There are two other choices for management but to adjust a perfectly balanced print to the printer's whim seem like cruel punishment.
Have a calibrated monitor and my CS2 works beautifully. Perhaps the best idea is to just go back to CS2 until Adobe and Epson can decide what to do. According to Adobe people, the CS3 gives much of the management back to Epson. According to Epson -- with CS3, you should choose the printer to manage the color (since this seems to be the trend between the two companies) but we users are not happy with the results.
What is the solution for right now?
