Photoshop cs3 opens jpg in camera raw? help me

Hi
in the preferences file handling
-> i setup prefer camera raw for jpg unchecked
->i setup prefer camera raw for supported raw files
so photoshop opens only the raw files in camera and the other in normal mode
but there is a photo in jpg  that photoshop cs3 persist, insist to open in camera raw!!
why?
how can i clean it?
i mean open ths jpg in normal mode
thanks

Also, you can let it Open in Camera RAW. Do any editing necessary there, and then Save, choosing JPEG. Does that resulting file now Open fine in PS?
Could be somethng in its header that is telling PS to Open in Camera RAW, regardless of its file extension.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • Batch Processing in Photoshop CS5 opens files in Camera Raw

Regarding batch processing straight from Photoshop CS5 (not in Bridge) I am unable to get the .dng files to open up without requiring that I click on 'open image' in Camera Raw.  I am trying to run a simple two step sharpen plus save and close action on a batch of 700+ .dng files.  There is no open command in the action.  Thanks.

You probably need to check Suppress File Open Options Dialogs.

  • How do I open .jpg in Camera Raw in PSE8

Hi. I've searched and coudn't find the answer.
I installed PSE8, and Camera Raw 5.5, which shows up in the Help-Plugins list.
How do I open a .jpg file inside Raw to make adjustments?
I only see where it will open with PSE.
    Thanks.

    Sorry, just found it.
    File-Open in-Camera Raw...
    select .jpg file
    OK.

  • Easy way to open JPGs in Camera Raw Module?

I am aware of the way to open JPGs in the ACR module by being in the Editor, and going to File>Open and changing the file type to RAW. I find this to be terribly inconvenient, however.
Is there any way to open a JPG in RAW from the Organizer where I can actually see the files? With regular Photoshop/Bridge I can just right click in Bridge and open in RAW easily. But I can't seem to find a way to do something similar in PSE11? There has to be an easier way because going to File>Open and trying to figure out what file I need from a huge pile of files is not a very good workflow.
    Thanks.

If you want to edit multiple JPGs in a raw editor interface, then you might consider using Lightroom, which is a bit cheaper than Photoshop.
The public-beta (release candidate) of Lightroom 5.2 just came out, today, and is available at Adobe Labs:

  • Can't open Tiff in Camera Raw CC

I have checked the Camera Raw preferences to open jpgs and tiffs in Camera Raw.  I have the Bride CC preferences set to Bridge CC for jpgs and tiffs.
I c n open jpgs in Camera Raw, but I can't open tiffs in Camera Raw.  I must be doing something wrong.
The settings for jpgs and tiffs in Windows file association are identical.
The settings for jpgs and tiffs in Bridge preferences are identical.
Yet, I can open jpgs in Camera Raw, and I can't open tiffs in Camera Raw.
    Any suggestions?

Can you, from within Photoshop, choose File - Open As, then choose the TIFF file, and set the selector over on the right to Camera Raw?
I know that you'd really like to set up to open them automatically through Camera Raw, but this could serve as a workaround.

  • Cannot open Olympus E-M1 files (E-M5 open alright). I just installed the Photoshop CC today, so the camera raw is up-to-date. Please help

Bought a new Cannot open Olympus OM-D E-M1 camera, but the files are not readable in my Photoshop CS5, nor the newly acquired Photoshop CC. They both open the older E-M5 files alright. I just installed the Photoshop CC today, so the camera raw is up-to-date. Please help

You will need Camera Raw 8.2 or newer to open files from the E-M1; CS5 will only accept up to ACR 6.7. You will need to use the free DNG converter to open your RAW files

  • Unable to open image in camera raw in CS3

I have CS3 and I'm unable to open images in camera raw.  I updated to 4.6 but it hasn't helped, and I've tried suggestions such as "open as" and then "formats" and choosing "camera raw"...still doesn't work.  Adobe is not able to help me over the phone due to the older version of Photoshop...any thoughts or help?  Thanks so much.

A critical piece of information would be what camera model the RAW images you're trying to open are from.
Each model camera must be supported specifically in Camera RAW.  If your camera is newer than the latest ACR version available for your Photoshop version then you'll be unable to open the RAW files in ACR.
    Three solutions are:
Use the latest version of the free DNG Converter from Adobe Updates < http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates > to convert each RAW file to a DNG and then that DNG will be openable in the older ACR version.  You may need to change the ACR-version compatibility setting in the DNG Converter.  This solution is free but doubles your storage space if you keep your original RAW plus the DNGs.
Buy Lightroom (which is less than half the price of Photoshop) and continue to use your older Photoshop with it.  The adjustments you do in LR are the same as you'd be able to do in ACR (actually more because the newest version of LR and ACR have more adjustments)
Upgrade to or buy the latest version of Photoshop, depending on your upgrade availability.
I personally have both Lightroom and Photoshop and use LR 90% of the time.

  • Cannot open some jpgs in Camera Raw from Bridge

A couple of days ago, I rated select images from a set as 5 stars, and now I cannot open these in Camera Raw from Bridge. I get no error messages or anything, there is just simply no option to Open in Camera Raw from the File menu, or the right-click menu. The images I did not rate still open in Camera Raw, and not all of the starred ones have this problem - just 20 or so consecutive images. This makes no sense to me, as all the images as far as I can tell should operate the same way. They are all jpgs. I can find workarounds to this like working in Photoshop (all the images still open in Photoshop) or possibly just reloading the photos from the memory card, but I'd like to know why this would even be a problem to avoid it in the future. I'm using CC on Win 8.

I should add that JPGs edited with ACR usually need to be writable for ACR to be able to store the adjustment-settings inside themselves.  RAW files typically use an XMP sidecar to store settings, but JPGs typically don't.
If the files weren't read/write then ACR would have no way to store the adjustments in them and so is smart enough to not make them available for editing.
The other hint is that if you copy the files to your desktop--where the permissions are likely to be more friendly, they work.
To check the permissions, right-click on one of the files in Explorer, select Properties from the context menu and look at the Security tab.  Look at the various user-groups, like Users, Authenticated Users, Administrators, etc, and see what access each has to one oft he problem files, and then to one of the files that works ok.
You might also check the Effective Rights of a particular user to a particular file by clicking on the Advanced button in the Security tab.  Here is an example where I show only Read + Read & Execute access to an NEF for general users, but when I check my own logged in User (steve) I have Full Control which includes all the other access privileges, and this is either because I'm in the Administrators group or I am the owner, I'm not sure.  It is possible that Bridge or Photoshop is running in a user context other than your logged in user, or it's possible that another user accessed the files and changed the permissions to them.

  • Applescript: open a JPG in Camera Raw

    Hi,
I am trying to open a jpg in Camera Raw unfortunately without success. The applescript command
    open <file> as Camera Raw
opens the jpg as a normal document and not within Camera Raw as I would have guessed. Is it even possible with applescript?
A workaround could be to make the open dialog appear so that the user selects the file and chooses Camera Raw as format manually (the photoshop preference to open all jpg in Camera Raw as default is not an option here). Unfortunately the command
    Photoshop open dialog
takes no arguments and defaults every time to the desktop folder from where the user has to navigate to the correct location. Is it possible to change the start location of that open dialog?
    Thanks in advance.

I hesitate to revive a thread from 2009, but I'm trying to do the same thing with CS 6.
I have the program set to open JPG and TIF files by default via the camera raw setting. However, I've tried various Applescript commands to do the same thing, and it always opens without the Camera Raw dialogue. I'd like to know what specific Applescript command I need to put in, please.
    Many thanks...

  • When opening an image Photoshop Elements 12 is opening it in Camera Raw, it is not a RAW image and it is cropped How do I uncrop the opened image?

When I am opening a .jpg image not an actual raw camera image from Elements 12 it is being opened as a camera Raw image and the image is cropped, I can't find anyway to get the image to uncrop or zoom out so that the entire image is visible so that I can actually edit it to something that is useable. The images were taken with an iPad and copied I suspect using the organizer from Elements 11 but I can't be sure. If I could just uncrop the opened image so that the entire image is visible this would not be a big deal.
Is there a way to uncrop the image that is being opened by Camera Raw? Am I going to have to get my hands on the source of the images (the iPad) and copy the images again using explorer and not let them be copied with the organizer?

Uncheck the boxes at the bottom of the dialog Scale styles and resample Image so that only constrain proportions is checked. If you the change the resolution box from 240 to 300 you will get back to your original dimensions.
This is a meaningless thing to do, you still have the exact same number of pixels, you have only changed the metadata number in the file for ppi, and your prints are not affected by this number.
You could also use the same method to change the dimensions to 6 x 4 or 9 x 6 etc.
There are some cases (actually most cases) where you need to CROP the photo to change the dimensions, when the aspect ratio of the original photos is different than the aspect ratio of the final photo; the specific case in 99jon's example is the only case you ever want to change dimensions using Image->Resize->Image Size, where the aspect ratio doesn't change from 6x4 to 9x6 (or 12x8 or 18x12 or ...), and even then, you could do the same thing simply by telling the printer the size you want, you don't really need to do anything in PSE.

  • Loss of thumbnails of RAW images in Photoshop prior to opening them in Camera Raw

I recently purchased and started using a Canon EOS 7D Mark II.  I found that with my Photoshop CS6 I was unable to open my RAW files in Camera Raw, so I downloaded an update of Camera Raw, viz. version 8.7.1 from the Adobe website.  Now I can open the RAW images from my new camera in Camera Raw.  However, I have lost the capacity to display a thumbnail image of a RAW file when using the open function of the file drop down menu in Photoshop. Now when I single-click on an ID number of a RAW image from the list of images, I see only a blank thumbnail.  I save lots of time using image thumbnails for selecting images for editing in Camera Raw.  Is there some way to restore the ability to see RAW image thumbnails in Photoshop prior to opening images in Camera Raw?

Which operating system are you using?
Are the blank thumbnails only for the files from the canon EOS 7D Mark II camera?
An alternative is to use Bridge CS6 or Mini Bridge to see the photos before you open them in photoshop cs6.

  • Photoshop CS6 want to find camera raw plugin 8.3 for my nikon d610 can someone help me please...

I just recently downloaded and installed photoshop cs6 and the highest camera raw update i have is camera raw 7 and my camera (NIKON D610) requires camera raw 8.3 i've updated the camera raw plugin to the highest thats available in the software update but i read that camera raw 8.3 is now available but i can't seem to locate it on the internet or adobe website to upgrade my camera raw plugin to 8.3. can someone please help me and show me where i can find a download link for camera raw 8.3 thank you for taking the time to read this and your help will be greatly appreciated.

Why not update CS6 to use ACR 8.6? If CS 6 menu Help>Updates does not update ACR to 8.6 try downloading the update manually and inst stall it.

  • Cannot open jpeg in camera raw photoshop cc

I can open the jpeg file in photoshop cc and in bridge. If I try to open in photoshop cc using open as (windows 7 32 bit) I get an error message "Could not complete your request because the file-format cannot parse the file" when I select camera raw. If I open the jpeg directly in photoshop cc, the file opens ok and then I can use camera raw thru filters. The file will open fine in camera raw via bridge.  This same jpeg file opens fine in camera raw using phtoshop cs6.
    thanks

I am experiencing this same problem. The file was created by xray software. It opens with Windows Photo just fine. This problem was never answered for DenisL111. Why is that?

  • Can photoshop convert .jpg to camera raw file?

Can photoshop convert .jpg to camera raw file?

And even if you could, it wouldn't be worth it.  Raw files are 12-bit (or more) with much higher dymanic range than jpegs.  The result is that (in the original raw file) you have flexibility to change white balance, change tone curve, recover detail from highlights and shadows in ways you can't with 8-bit (usually lossy-compressed) data in jpegs.  But having thrown that extra information away to create a jpeg, you can't get it back.  It would technically be possible to convert that jpeg data into raw format, but you would gain nothing by doing so and end up with a file much larger than the jpeg.  In fact if this theoretical conversion went the whole way to re-create a Bayer sensor array of data, you'd be throwing away resolution.
