Photoshop CS3 OSX vs Windows SALES

Greetings phellow Photoshoppers, I'd like to know the approximate number and/or ratio of the Apple OSX vs Microsoft Windows sales.
I don't need exact numbers, an approximation will do. I also don't need (nor does anybody) wild guesses or a OSX vs Windows flame war.
I want facts!
Thanks,
WK

>I just checked Amazon's "Sales Ranking" of Photoshop CS3. The Mac version is ranked 178, the Windows version is ranked 31. <br /><br />you said you wanted ADOBE'S sales figures, not amazon's. <br /><br />if your information gathering skills are as poor as your communication and interpersonal skills, i feel sorry for whomever you're gathering this information for, because it's likely to be way off. for example, how do you know that more windows users don't frequent amazon and mac users don't go directly to the adobe store. you don't. extrapolate your heart out.<br /><br />>I also don't need (nor does anybody) wild guesses ... I want facts! <br /><br />but that's apparently what you're going to make anyway by using amazon's sales figures. and what do amazon's "sales rankings" mean? are you prepared to back that up with FACTS? <snicker> (don't worry, i'm not laughing with you, i'm laughing at you.)<br /><br />by the way, bob's the adobe appointed forum moderator... he's been here for years and years helping people for free. where have you been?<br /><br />>I came seeking information about Photoshop. I've haven't received any yet.<br /><br />yes, you have. in post 1. i told you the only people qualified to give out information about adobe sales figures is adobe. <br /><br />then again in post 6, i gave you further suggestions to aid your in you quest for data. apparently you picked up on that and decided to search for yourself. you're welcome.<br /><br />and speeking of rude, it's INCREDIBLY rude to ignore the answers to your questions then to brush off and insult those trying to help you.<br /><br />this IS NOT adobe, but a USER to USER forum that's sponsored by adobe. it is not staffed by adobe. it's staffed by adobe customers who generally go out of their way to give of their free time to help other users of adobe products. even bob levine, who's the forum moderator, isn't paid by adobe, he's volunteering just like the rest of us. <br /><br />so for the THIRD time, if you want information FROM adobe, CONTACT adobe! anything else you come up with will be "wild guesses".

  • Hi thinking of buying a new PC and upgrading to windows 8.  Will Photoshop CS3 work with windows 8

I am thinking of only going as high as Photoshop CS5 or 6.  '
I already have Photoshop CS3, and am more than satisfied with this, and would be delighted if this can be installed on a computer using windows 8
    Thank you

I heard you could only use from CS5 upwards, so didn’t know of CS 3 would work – guess it is worth a try though

  • Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended on Windows XP Professional

    Topic: Selecting
I have been using Photoshop Elements 4 until I just purchased Photoshop CS3 Extended. In Photoshop Elements 4 there is a selection brush, enabling you to make pixel by pixel selection (if desired). There seems to be NO counterpart in CS3 - - which seems impossible for so powerful a program. In that most of my work involves selecting very precise points of 1 or 2 pixels, how can this be done?
    Please help.
    Thank you

    Dave Milbut:
Thanks so much for responding . . but, unfortunately does NOT work again! I did exactly as you suggested in that I made a selection fir so that I could get a quick mask. When I double-clicked on quick mask in the tools pallet, NO options appear that say "Paint on selections" nor "paint on mask". The options is get are "Color indicates Mask Area or Selected area" and you have to chose one. The only thing you are actually choosing is whether you want the color to appear on the mask you chose or inversely to appear on the remainder of the object. The "black" brush remains the same and does not change.
If I do not learn how to make minute selections (so that I will be able to act on only tiny tiny areas) I will not be able to use this program after spending a million dollars for it. It looks like Adobe could make something so fundamental (available in Elements) available here.
Could you help me further . . . PLEASE !
    Thank you.

  • Can't install Photoshop CS3 Trial on Windows

Hey, I downloaded the trial version of CS3 the other day, wanting to try it out and see what it's like, I got to the end of the installation and it says
"A problem was encountered while trying to load the trial period for Adobe Photoshop CS3.
Click Quit to see if restarting your computer or reinstalling the software fixes this problem. Otherwise, click Continue to display a screen where you can enter a valid serial number to begin using the product without trial."
I'd rather not buy the software just yet, just want to try it out. I know CS3 is a little out-dated but due to pc requirements, I'm not able to run CS4 on my laptop, also I'm used to using CS3 as I used to use it on an old computer but for some reason it won't work on my laptop.
I've tried reinstalling it, I've also tried to restart my laptop and the program and none of these got it to work.
Is there anything else that can be done?
    Thanks.

Youre correct, I can open KMZ files exported from Sketch up which works fine. But it will not open a KMZ file created from Google Earth.
Hey Richard, when you get a chance, please upload a simple cube or object from Sketch up to GE . Then right click the model under the Temporary Places folder in the sidebar. Chose save place as then KMZ. Now see if you can open it from PS. Please let me know. Thanks, Pat

  • Photoshop CS3 10.01 Windows XP -- Save and Save As are failing

Today, while working on my art, upon saving suddenly some sort of PS component showed a dialog that said the component failed (I didn't catch the name, thinking it was just temporary and would be fine after a re-start.) But now, no matter if I choose Save or Save As for any document (new or old), the usual Save or Save As dialog flashes on for a fraction of a second, then disappears.... and from that point the app freezes (beeping at attempts to get into the menus) and I can only get out with a Ctrl-Alt-Delete.
I tried to freshly reinstall CS3 Photoshop from my package DVD, but after starting the Set-up it also just disappears/stops and disappears. So I have no way to uninstall or install! These is very weird!! What is going wrong, and how can it be fixed?
My Dell 9300 XP laptop is SP1 and has 2 GB of RAM and a few GB of free hard space. I've used it since CS3's introduction with no problem until now.
    Thanks!
    Sincerely,
    Michael

It sounds like the boxes are appearing off screen. next time it happens, try hitting escape, then try again. If that fails, check these two subjects in the FAQ area:

Note that reinstall does not reset preferences.

  • Photoshop CS3 for Windows painfully slow

I am using Photoshop CS3 on a Windows machine using Vista. It's got a fast dual core processor. Over the last couple months Photoshop has begun operating so slowly that it's practically unusable. I've reset the preferences numerous times. I've upped the RAM in the PC from 2 gigs to 4, and that's offered no relief. I've allocated more RAM to Photoshop. Nothing has helped.
I reached a breaking point today and spent a full day troubleshooting. I've determined that it's a problem with this installation of Photoshop asking for WAY too much scratch disk space. For example, when I open a 2.5meg file on this machine it requires 3.6 gigs of scratch disk space. When I open the exact same file on another machine, it requires only 95 megs of scratch disk space. I have more than four gigs of space available for scratch disk usage on the effected machine, but the fact that it's doing all this reading and writing to a hard drive is killing the performance of the application.
Obviously, there's a problem with this installation of the software. I've tried reinstalling, and that doesn't help.
I called the Adobe tech support line, and they wouldn't touch this questions. They wanted to charge me $39 to even hear what the problem was and then said that they weren't sure they could resolve any issue--especially one like this--after accepting payment. (So, why would I give them a credit card number?) They suggested I post here instead. (Um, great support strategy, huh? I'm a bit frustrated, if you can't tell....)
OK, so off the complaining now. Any ideas for what I can do--short of chucking this PC and buying a new one to reinstall on?

Thanks for the feedback, but none of these things has helped.
I'm working with a recently defragged hard drive with over 35g of free space for scratch disk use. I've done everything in the Knowledge Base post about optimizing CS3, and nothing has worked.
I came across this thread on the same topic from a year and a half ago--and after extensive feedback and testing there was no resolution found to the issue back then:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/1663211#1663211
I'm not holding out much hope here--unless someone from Adobe weighs in since my guess is that this is a software-hardware compatibility related issue. I have a friend who faced this same issue a while ago and ended up solving it by buying a new computer--which took care of the issue.
One more thing I could add that might spark a thought for someone. When I lauch Photoshop, the start up process hangs for about 2 minutes on the step where the application is "Reading preferences." The hard drive grinds away at this point, and I assume it's preparing a huge scratch disk space. It could be that there's a preferenece embedded in the registry which is causing this, but I have no idea how I would go about finding that.
    Any other thoughts?

  • Photoshop CS3 Windows à installer sur MAC

    Bonjour,
Je suis propriétaire d'une licence  Photoshop CS3 pour PC Windows et je viens de changer de PC. Je viens d'acheter un Mac Book et je voudrais installater ma version de photoshop sur mon MAC Book. Comment faire, SVP?
    Message was edited by: domitoussaint

you can't install pc apps on a mac (or vice-versa).  you need to purchase a copy of ps for your mac.
adobe allows users to swap platforms, but only for current products, http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/order-product-platform-language-swap.htm l
your options are to look for a third party or move up to ps cc.  adobe has a time-limited special for $9.99/mo that includes photoshop and lightroom and bridge, http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/buying-guide.html

  • Does Photoshop CS3 Extended support Thai fonts?

I am translating some short text in Photoshop to several Asian languages. I noticed just with the Thai language, that I get a series of X's with boxes instead of Thai characters. The characters are fine in other applications, including Flash CS3. Other than taking a screenshot in another app and pasting into Photoshop, does anyone know of a workaround? Should I install a particular Thai font that is supported by Photoshop? I am running Photoshop CS3 Extended on Windows XP. Thanks for any help.

So in my search, the only thing I found was a utility downloadable at CNET http://download.cnet.com/ASK-Square-Free-Version/3000-2316_4-10855142.html
"ASK Square works efficiently with well-known graphic software such as Adobe Photoshop 7, CS, CS2, CS3 and CS4. It enables users to use of all Thai characters. Users can type all Thai characters, even troublesome characters like. This software also corrects excessively high vowels while typing or after typing just by only one click. Further more it can transform illegible font to normal font that happens when changes a texts font, to a readable normal font. If users copy texts from external application such as word processing or spreadsheet software and paste those texts into their graphic software, ASK Square software can correct the wrong-encoded texts automatically.
ASK Square is flexible. It enable user to type Thai non-unicode font on Adobe Photoshop. Version 1.5.0.10 supports Adobe Photoshop CS4."
Funny thing is you can tell their sales pitch was loosely translated. I gave it a try anyway. The instruction PDF was in Thai, their website was in Thai. But I felt brave anyway, seeing as I googled this application title and didn't see anything negative written about it. Then I go to the application icon in the system tray. As you can see from my screenshot, it ain't exactly user-friendly.
Bottom line... it didn't work. Anyone out there have a solution? I've searched everywhere... Am I the only one with this problem?
