Photoshop CS3 Uninstall/ReInstall

I used app zapper to uninstall ps cs3 beta and then ran the ps cs3 uninstaller, which seemed to delete the rest.
I am trying to reinstall ps cs3 full and it is giving me a error saying that I cannot install because the program is installed already. How can I delete the location where Adobe is checking and seeing that ps cs3 is installed, even though it is not in the applications folder.
TIA
MBP   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Follow the instructions in the Adobe TechNote: Manually Remove Photoshop CS3 public beta (Mac OS X). There are some obscure folders in the HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe folder that need to be removed. Follow the tech note and CS3 should install easily.,

trying to launch photoshop cs3 on a mac running OS10.6.8 i keep getting the error message: Licensing for this product has stopped working  you cannot use this product at this time. You must repair the problem by uninstalling and then reinstalling this product or contacting your IT adminstrator or Adobe customer support for help
I already Uninstalled and reinstalled the product and it still does not work.

    Hi,
Try to uninstall the software again and you have to manually
    Delete the following folders:
    [Startup Disk]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe PCD
    [Startup Disk]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/caps
    [Startup Disk]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/backup
    [Startup Disk]/Library/Preferences/FLEXnet Publisher/
    [Startup Disk]/Library/Application Support/FLEXnet Publisher/
Go to Applications-->Utilities-->Disk Utility, Open it and Select the MAC HD and then click on Repair permissions.
After that try to run the cleaner tool as mentioned by kglad.
Restart machine and then try to install again.
*** Make sure , you only delete these folders if there is no other adobe applications installed on the machine. As if you have any other Adobe application of the suite ( not free applications ) then it will be a problem.

  • Photoshop CS3 - need to uninstall & reinstall but deactivation is grayed-out

Photoshop CS3 was living happily for quite a while on my system running Windows 7 32-bit, however, lately, upon closing, it freezes, requiring a cntrl-alt-del to force quit. It has the 10.0.1 patch, the latest. A repair re-install did not fix the problem, and I am not aware that I installed anything recently with which it should conflict. I have tried the various tips & tricks on the forums related to refreshing caches, etc., but to no avail. Something's broken that I hope to fix with a clean install. Buying the latest cloud version of Photoshop is not in the budget ... I just want to get back to where I was ...
I believe I need to do a complete uninstall of PS CS3, including manually deleting all registry entries related to CS3, Adobe, Photoshop, etc. + running cleaner utilities. While not too happy about that, I'm willing to try it. Here's the problem, I suspect that I will also need to deactivate first to prevent some issue with Adobe to later re-activate the fresh install ... the trouble is, part of what seems to be corrupted are the menu items relating to "deactivate", "activate", etc. ... they are grayed out, so I have no way to deactivate before I attempt a complete uninstall.
    A few questions;
Is there a known issue and fix for a missing deactivation / activation menu options for PS CS3?
Is there a way to manually preserve the activation key and remove all the other possible corrupted files and registry entries so that I can do a clean install?
Is there another way to fix a corrupted install of PS CS3?
Thanks in advance for any ideas!

Yes, I had already googled and found all those 3rd party solutions before I posted my original question ... I'm not too comfortable with those, rather, I am looking for a "cleaner" solution directly from Adobe. By the way, I re-installed PS CS3 again, then ran the CC Cleaner tool BEFORE uninstalling ... it did function doing this, it removed PS CS3, but left other parts installed (Bridge CS3), I then re-installed PS CS3, but the result was no better than using the Windows uninstaller.
The more I get into this, the more I think I may need a fresh install of my Windows 7 and all applications ... problem is, I still can't deactivate Photoshop CS3 so as to re-install it on a fresh system build ... that  is, unless the Adobe server would recognize my computer's motherboard s/n and Windows 7 key and allows automatic re-activation ... does their server go by number of current activations or does it remember particulars of each current activation so as to "refresh" the activation on a clean install to an old computer previously activated?
Is it just me, or is this too many hoops to jump through to fix what used to be a solid piece of software? Is there some recent Windows patch identified as conflicting with CS3 software?

  • Cannot reinstall photoshop cs3 extended on vista

I bought Photoshop PS3 Extended 4/26/07 and have been running it on a Vista PC.  I tried to launch it in 4/2011, but it said something about the license not working and to uninstall and re-install.
I uninstalled and have been trying ever since to reinstall.  I do install with “Run as Administrator”.
For 8 weeks, I battled with this error from the Event Viewer: Product: Adobe Fonts All -- Error 1907.Could not register font . Verify that you have sufficient permissions to install fonts, and that the system supports this font.
I run the uninstall program after each try, as PS comes up in my program list, but fails to install shared components and the PS3 program.
After trying all the advice from Adobe & Vista support sites (including Adobe's Doc IDs KB401401, KB401488, KB401501, KB402151), I thought it was AGaramondPro-Italic.otf, but no matter how I tried (copying it from my Encore, downloading a new copy, deleting it all together) it wouldn't work.  All those support sites said to contact Adobe, but Adobe no longer supports CS3.  Finally I installed the trial of Photoshop CS5 and it took care of the font problem.
However, it STILL won't re-install.  Event Viewer no longer shows any errors, but when I check the Information messages and the photoshop log files, I see that about 1/3 of the components are not installing, but say: "Result: 1610, Text: The configuration data for this product is corrupt. Contact your support personnel."
    Another part of the installation log is: ADOBE_SETUP=1 MSIRESTARTMANAGERCONTROL=Disable  PROPERTY_FILE="C:\Users\[UserName]\AppData\Local\Temp\adbD68C.tmp" REINSTALL=ALL REINSTALLMODE=poms 1: 0 2: 0 3: 1252 1: 0 2: 0 3: 0 1: PDF Settings This installation is forbidden by system policy. Contact your system administrator.
Again, I have tried the adobe clean up script, searching the registry (though I haven't found any help for registry keys specific to CS3 Extended), installed from my hard drive, tried with UAC on and off (mostly off!), have virus scan turned off, etc.
I've spent countless hours on this and am so frustrated that I can't put my installation disc in and have it just install.

Well, reads/copies of data from CDs sometimes do get errors.
I wrote a small command line tool a long while ago that will read every file in every folder under a given starting point and calculate a CRC value.  I sometimes use this to check to see if everything is has been copied properly from a CD to a hard drive.
I have a download of Photoshop CS3 that I just ran the tool on, starting with the folder containing the Setup.exe for Photoshop.

Also now that this is there, I can't run my CS2. It tells me my settings have changed and I need to reactivate but it won't let me reactivate apparently I guess it's been activated too many times (the first computer I had it on crashed and so I had to reinstall it on this computer I am using now) So now because of whatever is wrong with this CS3 I can never again use my CS2. In reference to Lynley Stanley, I too am having the exact problem. I downloaded as for my class of Animation and Visual Effects at the Academy of Art University while waiting for my software to come in the mail from Academic Superstore. I am so frustrated about this that such an issue has caused so much madness. In the process of trying to remove Adobe Photoshop CS3 from my Windows Vista I was searching for info on how to uninstall as I was in a hurry to uninstall the program because my 4th week into class started using the program as students are expected to follow along having their own for assignments. Well, now I'm behind and I don't want to fail because of something that is causing the problem as I'd like to call intentional. In the process of trying to figure a way to uninstall fast as not to fall behind and fail in class I downloaded Perfect Uninstaller but I don't know how it will work. Now in reference of trying to quickly uninstall just to keep up with class, that will not be possible, so now I had to take time to look online knowing I'm falling more and more behind because of this difficult matter I finally found this and hopefully I'll be going somewhere as to have the problem corrected. Alright, now I'm going to try with what has been listed. Thank you for the Info. :)

  • Trying to reinstall Photoshop CS3 after removing trial version of PS CS4

    Hi,
I'm on an HP laptop - Win XP Home Edition - 1 gb RAM, plenty of space.
So, after major, continuous crashing in Photoshop CS3, I decided to see if CS4 would work ok. It was nice, but I let the trial expire and decided to continue to see if 3 would get in gear.
I removed the trial software (i thought)
Today, I uninstalled CS3, so I could reinstall the whole thing rather than repairing it. It won't reinstall because the CS4 files have been moved.
is there some way to completely wipe out all reference to 4?
    thanks in advance!
    dana

ok - well, I found the informationin KB 401401 to be the most helpful - after wiping out the entire suite of CS3 -  finally got it to reinstall (after the second time)...
NOW, back to my ORIGINAL issue - Photoshop CS3 crashes every time I open a second photo... So... there's that again. Anyone have any ideas?
    Thank yOU!!

Soundbooth beta has caused some conflicts with my Photoshop CS3 (I am assuming that is what is causing my photoshop wierdness) causing me to have to reinstall Photoshop. When I attempted to do so, I got a message to insert Soundbooth CS4. I uninstalled Soundbooth. So I thought. But every time I try to reinstall Photoshop, I am asked to insert Soundbooth CS4.

  • Help! Can't uninstall Photoshop CS3

Had several problems with my workhorse Photoshop CS3, so I decided it was time to reinstall a clean version. Followed uninstall instructions as far as deactivation (which I later learned was unnecessary), but the uninstaller/installer in my utilities folder does nothing . . . except lie there like a dead fish. Adobe won't suport this version, so I came here to forums, but didn't find the exact question answered. Apologies for taking up time and space if it is there and I'm just too dumb to find it. I'm working on a MacBook Pro with OS 10.8.4. I did try installing the cleaner tool, but it appears not to work either. Yes, I just now thought about restarting my computer and will do that while I wait for some kind soul to lend me a hand here. Thanks.

    Hi Curt,
Well I finally fixed the problem, in a very convoluted way. I loaded Photoshop CS3 from the disk, then I went to my utilities folder and used the new uninstaller to remove, apparently, part of the problem. The uninstaller promptly vanished again. I went to Photoshop and tried to open it . . . the serial number and activation code were already entered in the boxes which made me think the old corrupted version was still there. I tried to open an image, Photoshop started loading and I got a "fatal error" page. Having no better ideas I tried installing it from the disk again, and duplicated the uninstall app which just created another alias, and duplicated the other item in the folder which generated an alias for the Setup app, then I clicked on the  Setup alias and it launched a different installation program which offered the choice of installing, or reinstalling Photoshop CS3--an option I hadn't been given before. So I clicked on reinstall and it took at least twice as long as the previous installation. Lo and behold, I clicked on an image and Photoshop loaded without asking for any serial number or activation code, and it seems to be working. I checked on the two things that had been causing me problems, and both worked flawlessly. I don't necessarily recommend this to anyone who has the same problem unless they, like me, have tried everything else and have nothing else to lose. If the Cleanup tool worked properly, it would undoubtedly be easier that way.  Thanks very much for your help,
    Victoria

  • Photoshop CS3 improperly removed... Can't be reinstalled

    Ok, so.
I had the BETA of Photoshop CS3 on my computer months ago. It was improperly removed (dragged to the trash), and not I cannot install the Photoshop CS3 Trial. When I go install, it says that it conflicts with Photoshop CS3.
    Can anyone help?

I did exactly what you did and remove the beta version manually over a month ago. It took me over five hours to figure out the following solution. What follows is exactly how I did it, and that part took slightly less then an hour.
    1. You must deactivate (Adobe says any CS3 eg. Bridge application will work) but I was able to reinstall the beta verison and do it with Photoshop. Once that's reinstalled you will get an error message that says you have an expired pass word. I manually changed the date on my computer to April 16, 2007 and much to my surprise I was able to deactivate. Once the deactivation starts you will get a message its working and then its completed.
    2. You then go throught the beta version of uninstall, but thats not all. Photoshop still will not load.
    3. There are a bunch of other programs that Adobe has listed at the bottom almost hidden part of their tech note titled "Manually Remove Photoshop CS3 public beta (MAC OS X)" Only after these programs are also remove will you be able to load CS3.
Finally, for me the beta version was a disaster, for example it really screwed up my abbility to process raw files on any version of Photoshop/

  • Can't uninstall/reinstall Photoshop - startup.exe shuts down

I've tried every proposed solution I could find, including the regsvr32 jscript.dll thing, running in XP SP2 mode (I'm in Vista), running in admin mode, running at the C:\ root, and putting the install files in an .iso, mounting it in a disk emulator, but I just can't uninstall or reinstall the Photoshop CS3 demo I installed a few days ago (which won't work at all - something about a "catastrophic installation failure" or somesuch). In all my experience with hundreds of different pieces of software, I've never encountered such a complete and total failure to work - and this from Adobe no less... What's going on?

i am sorry i can not answer your question. but i posted a topic on a similar problem. i can not uninstal or reinstall the trial either, after something went wrong after a day...can anyone help us?

This usually happens when you had/ have a newer Adobe product like a trial on the system and it points to updated install components. You will have to uninstall each and every bit of Adobe software and then reinstall in the proper order. Running the cleaner tool may also be required.

  • Trouble reinstalling photoshop cs3

Recently, cs3 has stopped working for me. One day I tried to open it and it wouldn't respond. I tried uninstalling it and then reinstalling it and it didn't work - it says failed to install Adobe Photoshop CS3. All the shared components reinstall, but CS3 doesn't.
I downloaded the trial version of CS4 to see if that would work, but again it told me that Adobe Photoshop CS4 has failed to install. And again, all the shared components managed to install.
Can anybody tell me how to fix this?

I get an error message 6 telling me to uninstall Photoshop and then reinstall from the original software. But I bought from Adobe online. How do I go about this?

Yes, the Old Master file has a folder for each year where I find all photos from that specific year. I am attaching a screen shot of the file.
In the meantime i have managed to download all photos (it did not download any video files though in mpg, avi, 3gp, m4v,mp4 and mov format) to a new iphoto library. Unfortunately the photos are quite mixed and often doubled up. I ma considering to purchase iphoto library which checks all duplicates in iphoto. this will save me a lot of time. What do you think?
