Photoshop cs4 doesn't refresh

i'm having a problem with my photoshop extended cs4, it doesn't refresh by turning layers on and off, as well as undo and redo (can't see changes directly, have to click somewhere on the image before refresh)
i tried to update my video drivers but still no luck, btw my gfx is ati radeon x1400 mobile (lenovo t60), i tried to turn it Enable OpenGL Drawing on, but by so, it causes my image to be broken (square everywhere), so i turn it off.
anyone with the same problem here? adobe please release a fix for this.

I am having the same problem as Adrian does. The thing is I'm using Nvidia GeForce GTX 260 and updated the driver. I have also reinstalled CS4, turned off OpenGL, and have tried everything but still it doesn't work. This problem occurred about a month ago but i didn't notice anything different before and after the occurrence of the problem. Please help.

  • Photoshop CS4 will not refresh or update view

    Hello,
My Photoshop CS4 will not update / refresh the viewport after any change to the layers or settings. The view will only refresh if the view is changed, such as the hand or zoom tool. This makes Photoshop nearly usesless. Did some looking around the net and have seen a few responses to situations similar to this but none of them are regarding a Mac. This is my work computer so you can understand my frustration.

  • Photoshop CS4 doesn't recognize camera raw plugin on yosemite

    Hi there,
I've been using Photoshop CS4 with the camera raw plugin for many years without issue. I recently got a new computer with Yosemite and when I installed PsCS4 it no longer worked with RAW files (5D mkii). I just tried downloading the newest version of the camera raw plugin, but Photoshop doesn't seem to recognize it. What can I do?

The “latest version of camera raw” would be ACR 8.7.1 and that is only compatible with PS-CS6 or newer.
PS-CS4 would probably install with ACR 5.0 but the 5D Mark II needs at least ACR 5.2.  The latest version of ACR you can install for PS-CS4 is ACR 5.7 which may be what you had on your old computer.
The usual way to update your Camera Raw plug-in would be to do PS / Help / Updates and let it check to see what is available, so try that.
I am not sure if that process still works, but you’re in luck because Adobe was still putting links to their installers on the website back in the CS4 era, so you should be able to download an installer and run it to get ACR 5.7 installed, from here:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=106 <http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=106&platform=Macintosh> &platform=Macintosh
It’s possible that something in the newest OS will prevent this installer from working, of course, but at least try.
You can check what version of the ACR plug-in you have installed by doing PS / About Plug-in / Camera Raw

  • Photoshop Cs4 doesn't open at all

Recently i had grown tired of using Photoshop elements and began to find a new program to use such as Photoshop or flash, not knowing the software were already downloaded to my computer. When i found out that i had Photoshop cs4 i tried opening them where it asked for a serial number. When i put the serial number in it said something about being expired and immediately brought me to the license agreement page when i accepted Photoshop refused to open. There is no message that comes after it just closes itself. Since the software has always been on my computer ever since I've been using the computer i do not have a disk so i am not sure if i can uninstall and re-install the software. Please help.

What type of licence do you have? I read recently sone school educational licenses have an expiration date. what does the link show https://www.adobe.com/account/my-products-services.html after you sign in to Adobe.com.
The thread I read that document some licences do expire Why does Creative Suite 6 reject my license number every 6 months or so?

  • Photoshop CS4 Doesn't Recognize Printer

    Acer Laptop
    Windows Vista
    3 gb ram
    160 gb hd
Printer - Canon Pixma Pro 9500
    Problem-
I recently installed Photoshop CS4. I still have CS3 installed. When I go to print from CS4, it prompts me that there is no printer installed on my pc. (CS3 will still print without issues). I have downloaded and installed the latest and greatest drivers for my Canon Pixma Pro 9500. I have tried recreating the Photoshop preference file and still no good on either attempted solution. I even tried unistalling CS3 - no good.
How do I "convince" Photoshop CS4 that printer software and drivers exist on my pc?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
    H. Seldon

I've been using Production Premium CS4 for over a year now, and since July on my i7/12GB/GTX260/Win7 64-bit, and it's all been fine. Tonight I get the Premiere 4.2.1 patch, and all of a sudden, magically, Photoshop will NOT recognize my installed printers. I tried 64-bit, 32-bit, rebooting, reinstalling my printer (a standard Epson R380 that has worked consistently), and to no avail. Illustrator sees the printer, but not Photoshop, even though it has printed fine until tonight's "unrelated" Premiere patch.
Thus the woes of integrated suites.
    I'll try the FAX thing.

  • Photoshop CS4 doesn't get past "Starting-up plug-ins..."

    Hi,
    I'm running on a Pentium4, 2.8GHz, 1.25GB ram, GeForce4 MX 440 with AGP8X 64MB, win XP.
Up until yesterday I was able to run all my Adobe Design Premium CS4 Suite just fine. Today I tried to run Photoshop and it stops at the splash screen saying "Starting-up plug-ins... Extensis...". It also happens with InDesign and Illustrator. The other programs are running normaly.
    I tryed reinstalling the suite.
I tryed clicking ctrl + alt + shift to clean the preferences.
I tryed renaming the files to OLD in Application Data\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4\Adobe Photoshop CS4 Settings\
I tryed renaming the ScriptingSupport to ScriptingSupport~ in Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4\Plug-ins\Extensions\
The last thing I did with Photoshop was to create an Action to crop images and apply it with Automate>Batch to 300 images. It did the job but after that Photoshop stopped working and so did Illustrator and InDesign.
I was searching for a solution in the forum and people asked wether there were any 3rd party plugins installed. There are 12 folders in Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4\Plug-ins\ so I'm not sure witch of them are 3rd party plugins. I didn't install any 3rd party photoshop plugin ever but I did install a 3rd party plugin on Illustrator about a month ago.
Now, in my search for a solution I ran into this page: http://store.adobe.com/store/en_us/popup/software/creativesuite/designpremium4/systemreqs. html saying that the Adobe Design Premium CS4 Suite requires 2GB ram to run. Did Adobe updated this requirements overnight or was I performing a miracle running the CS4 with just 1.25GB ram?
    My video drivers are updated.
Thanks in advance for any help.

You'll need to identify and remove your 3rd party plug-ins methodically, possibly by looking at the modification date.  Move the folder/file(s) out from under the Plug-ins area entirely; just renaming them (unless you change the .8bf file extension or put a ~ on the front of the name) will NOT disable them.
Specifically, look for one or more plug-ins by Extensis, since that's apparently where it stalls.

  • Photoshop cs4 doesn't work properly.

I'm a photoshop cs4 user, my photoshop won't open any psd file.
It shuts down after openning a file.
There was no problem a few months ago.

Without proper system info and other technical details like what the files specifically contain, where they are stored, your PS swap file preferences and so on nobody can tell you anything. from the files being damaged to containing references to e.g. flaky fonts to PS not being able to create its temp files there could be any number of things at play here.

  • Photoshop Cs4 doesn't work :(

Hi! I'm italian, excuse me because I don't speak English very well!
I have this problem with Photoshop CS4:
my operating system is windows vista 64 bit,I has installed many times the version of test of Photoshop Cs4, the installation goes to good, but in the moment I try to use Photoshop, windows says me " the program has stopped of work" and it is closed all…
I have watched in the visual display unit of events of windows, in the section registries of windows and the error that appears is the following one:
" Application that it has generated the Photoshop.exe error, 11.0.0.0 version, timestamp 0x48d3882e, module that has generated the error nvoglv32.dll, version 8.17.12.58 96, timestamp 0x4c378f09, code exception 0xc0000005, offset error 0x000a85db, ID process 0xe14, date and hour of start of the application 0x01cb706c671eed10."
I hope that someone can help me, thanks!

Hi Mylenium! Thanks you...but in that way I can adjust my configuration? And which configuration?
And when you say: "install a newer one", you refer to Photoshop? Because I have installed many times it.
Excuse me for all these questions and for the disturbance!

  • My new Photoshop CS4 doesn't have 'Picture Package'...?

I go to File > automate and Picture Package is not in the pop up menu. I can't access it from Bridge either Tools > Photoshop...Photoshop help says it is still a feature in CS4. What step am I missing? a bug?

What PDF plug-in are you talking about Dave? The picture package plug-in
that was in Photoshop wasn't a PDF plug-in, it didn't generate PDF files. It
took your picture package back in to Photoshop as a regular Photoshop
document, the same with the contact sheet plug-in. The complaint has nothing
to do with a PDF plug-in, it has to do with Adobe fixing it so that the only
output method (like the slideshow in Lightroom) is the very crAAppy PDF
format. They took away functionality just to push their format, now if their
format was appropriate and was what most people were using when the plug-in
was in Photoshop then that is fine, but I can bet you that most people after
using the plug-in in Photoshop didn't save it as PDF all that often. More
likely it was either printed and then trashed or printed and then saved as a
TIF or PSD or JPG. That is my complaint.
As for the crack post, well I would suggest you pull you head out of yours
and at least pretend that you have a clue about what is being said. Equating
my complaint to crack is just stupid.
As for ImageReady we have known for several versions that ImageReady was at
first a lame duck and then a dead one and that become very clear once Adobe
bought Macromedia. Fireworks is a 1000 times the program ImageReady was.

  • Photoshop CS4 doesn't recognize RAW-files on MacBook

I recently installed photoshop CS 4 on my MacBook Pro. I have a Sony alpha 330 camera, and photshop doesn't recognize my RAW-files (ARW)
What do I have to download to get my photoshop working?

Are Photoshop and ACR fully updated?
It seems support for RAW from Sony A330 was added with ACR 5.4.

  • Photoshop CS4 doesn't display anything

I recently bought an Nvidia GTX260 graphics card hoping it would boost performance also in Photoshop. After installing the latest driver directly from the Nvidia website, I still have this problem: when I open a project, there is no error but nothing is displayed in the drawing area (so no canvas and no layers). The application works fine if I turn off OpenGL drawing. However I was hoping to use this feature to improve performance.
    I tried:
    1. Reinstalling the driver. Also I tried switching the openGL drawing option off before reinstalling and then switching it on after installation.
    2. Enabling and disabling each advanced option I have to see if a particular one causes the problem.
I also mention I reinstalled windows and all my software and still does not work.
I was using NVidia 7300 graphics card before and experienced no difficulties.
I'm running Windows Vista x64 on a intel q6600 platform with 4GB RAM.
If you know of any solution to this problem please help.

Thanks dec9. I did as you suggested.
    This is becoming really weird.
So here is what I did:
I download and install DriverSweeper (latest version). It (surprisingly) erases all the Nvidia dlls and files so when I reboot, I have to reinstall Nvidia drivers for my graphics card. I install them and reboot. I open Photoshop and switch on OpenGL drawing and (although I did not expect it) it worked. I could see the canvas with the drop-shadow effect. I also mention here that when I switched on the OpenGL drawing feature, my graphics card name was not displayed in that rectangle above Advanced Options (usually it says what graphics card Photoshop detected).
    So far so good.
I then exit photshop and restart my computer again. I get the same problem. It does not display anything. I tried a couple of times (also enabling and disabling OpenGL) and still nothing.
What is also "funny" is that if I move the layers on the canvas, the changes are reflected in the thumbnail of the layer in the Layers dock. And while I drag the window containing the project, I can see my work on the canvas. It is when I complete the drag operation that the canvas dissapears again.
    It's definitely a driver thing.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Opening raw NEF in Photoshop CS4

I need to edit a bunch of photos in Photoshop. So I got the files from the photographer and they're raw NEF files that won't open in Photoshop CS4. I download Adobe Camera Raw plugin and added it but still won't open them.. Any ideas??

Which operating system are you using?
What camera are the camera raw files from?
Maybe they are from a newer camera that photoshop cs4 doesn't support, there is good chance you could use the 8.6 dng converter to convert the files to dng copies, which then photoshop cs4 should open.
Did they include the xmp sidecar files along with the nefs?

  • Will photoshop cs4 be supported on mountain lion

I have just updated to mountain lion from lion and now photoshop CS4 doesn't work.
Comes up with an error code 150:30 which seems to suggest that it's incompatible with the new os!
That makes CS4 a very expensive icon and nothing more. Is this matter going to be resolved as a queue of images is building on my mac?

    Adobe says Yes. Read HERE.
    EDIT
But read the comments. Looks like there are issues.

  • PHotoshop CS4 - scanner doesn't show up in File - Import

    Hello,
I have an Epson Perfection 4180 scanner, and Photoshop CS4 extended and a Mac OSX 10.6.3.  I installed photoshop but the scanner doesn't show up under the File>Import menu. Normally it be there, i'd click it, and it launches the scanner within photoshop.
I found some info on google which suggested to look in a  folder on the installation DVD called "Goodies"
In there is a folder called Optional "Plug-Ins"
In there is a folder called "Import-Export"Where i found a file called TWAIN.plugin
I put the file into Adobe Photoshop CS4/Plug-ins/Import-Export but it still doesn't appear in photoshop file > import.
Any ideas on what i should do?
    Many thanks
    Rossella

    Use the stand-alone application.
And/or do a Forum search for »CS4 scanner« – that should turn up a couple threads.
