Photoshop CS4 flyer looks horrible when being printed

Hello
How can I Improve the image quality of a flyer I created in photoshop, CS4. On the computer it looks ok but the printer has told me it looks low quality in real life?
If someone could tell me how to make it higher resolutioned and with better quality I would appreciate it.

Hi, carmine101. You seem to have made a wrong turn somewhere. This forum is for Photoshop Elements. If you have CS4, you'll get better answers in the appropriate Photoshop forum (PS has many more options and more different things can go wrong).

I assume You are working in RGB?
1) Convert the image to the proper profile (but keep the RGB-file) – in much of Europe that would be ISOnewspaper26v4, available here: http://www.eci.org/doku.php?id=en:downloads, for the rest of the world You better check with the newspapers.
But do at least test if the Render Intent »Perceptual« or »Relative Colorimetric« provides better results, »Black Point Compensation« can also make some difference.
When working on RGB-files View – Proof Colors can be used to preview separation results (the conditions can be edited in View – Proof Setup).
One could of course also convert at PDF-export, but for example black text would then result in a 4C-Black which would be inadvisable out of print-considerations.
2) Halftone is anything that’s not 1bit, images that contain shades of colors – so basically all photographs and areas of color that are neither 0% or 100% in any of the process colors.
This will affect the resulting appearance in that the paper used for newspapers soaks up the ink more than coated paper, thereby increasing the dot gain, making an area of a certain percentage in a color appear darker than it would if printed on less absorbent paper.
At the same time the paper and its surface make it impossible to achieve as deep a black as on higher quality paper and requires a smaller amount of total ink (usually 240% maximum).
3) Please read the pertinent sections in the Help (»Chapter 6: Color management«).
Are ICC profiles really useful?
Profiles are Your best way to attain any predictability as to the resulting appearance – so long as the printers take their Color Management seriously.

But You should always embed the profiles in Your working files and save the pdfs according to one of the PDF-X-standards and make sure the correct Output Intent is selected under Output – PDF/X.
5) Are You to provide the finished layouts with text, logos, etc. or are You only working on images to be combined later on by someone else?
Anyway the separation (Edit – Convert to Profile) could certainly be applied as an Action.
6) View – Color Warning (command-shift-Y) can be used to assess which colors are out of gamut for the selected Proof Setup (just make sure to select the correct Proof Conditions) and therefore change the most significantly.
Be advised that to maintain sharpness of fonts or graphic elements You must not rasterize the font Layers or the Vector Masks of Layers.

I went through the process of clicking through the how to's and the troubleshooting and came to the conclusion that I need to install the adobe drive 5 but I can not complete the installation. I may be incorrect on this so I need immediate assistance as I have poster and ad deadlines. I also tried disabling the gatekeeper and solution 3 on the troubleshooting of slow saving on photoshop.

Are you attempting to save the file to a network location instead of your local hard drive? If so, this is probably why you are encountering an issue and why Adobe Drive would be the solution. As we've documented, it is a bad idea to open from or save directly to a network source: Networks, removable media | Photoshop | CS4 and later. Drive can help you get around this by setting up an Adobe supported virtual connection to the network. Thus, if installing Adobe Drive is the solution you need and your need help with installing Drive, please post to the Downloading, Installing, Setting Up forum.
If you are not saving to a network location, then Adobe Drive is not going to be the answer. Then we'll need to know more about the file you are saving.

Photoshop CS4 shuts down only when creating new project.

I've had CS4 web premium since nov. 08 and everything worked fine until the most recent update from adobe.
I ONLY have this problem with Photoshop cs4: when creating a new project after selecting the aspects (name, width, hight, etc.) when you press ok it shuts down and no error is given as to why it shut down, it just does.
opening documents that had been created prior to the last update isn't a problem, I'm able to do everything Photoshop cs4 has to offer.
I can also open a file started in another program and edit them in PS CS4 (ie: fireworks , or AI).
but for some reason if I want to start a project in photoshop it just shuts down, never used to happen. any clues? any one else have a similar problem and know how to fix this?

I think you mean a new docuement - Photoshop doesn't have "projects".
Photoshop shouldn't "shut down" - there should be some message about a crash.
And the most likely causes at that point are OpenGL (try turning it off in prefs) and your default printer driver (try changing default printers).

Photoshop CS4 Pdfs look fuzzy

Hi my cs4 photoshop is creating pdfs that look fuzzy. when you do a save as photoshop pdf the opened file looks fuzzy. No sure what the problem is.. The photoshop file looks fine 300dpi when you get it into acrobat the file is nothing like the original. I have looked at the photoshop settings which are set to high quality.
Any answers

Photoshop pdfs change canvas size when being viewed in Acrobat

Hi, I am an issue when with saving photoshop pdfs from photoshop cc. They look good when they are in photoshop but when I save them to a pdf and then try to view them in acrobat the page size changes. Usually it defaults to 8.5 by 11 regardless of the size I set up in Photoshop. Does any one know why this might be? I am using Photoshop cc and Acrobat 11 pro. I've seen this same problem happen to several of my clients as well.

How are you determining the page size in Acrobat? Please post a screenshot. If you have the word scaled up in your filename, you may have to do a view >> pixel aspect ratio >> square
IN acrobat dod a Commadn R to show rulers, is your file 8.5" x 11". This actually sound like a view settings problem in acorn bat, btiu not sure

Photoshop is changing file names when being accessed from EmbARK software

Files open up within PS when accessed from a share on the server. When attempting to save the file the name is always changed.

My iphone 5 camera has scratches on it and it looks horrible when i snap a photo. Anyone knows how much does it cost to get it fixed?

Does anyone know why an expanded symbol with a fill change looks crappy when saved as a gif 128 no dither? I am perplexed...

Photoshop CS4 Extended Windows 7 Epson XP310 Printing Problem

I went through the resetting preference file as most of the solutions suggest. But put my preferences back because it made no difference.
Photoshop print dialogue comes up fine when I'm printing a .jpg, or a .psd photograph in photoshop. The print dialogue box shows the correct printer, and it prints the picture.
I set up an avery label template so I could design labels in photoshop, and even if the template has been finished and changed to a .jpg, the "before you can perform printer related tasks such as page setup or printing a document you need to install a printer . . ." message appears at page setup or print.
I CAN open the document in Adobe 9 Professional, save it as a pdf, or save it as a pdf in photoshop or a .tiff and it prints fine in Adobe 9. Still won't print in Photoshop.
Any ideas? Thank you in advance . . .

Since I upgraded to Mavericks I can't open files directly from a Server (smb://..), it says "file is empty". When I copy the PSD file to my local drive I can open it though. I tried already to remove the server and reconnect. I'm using the CS4. Any idea how to fix that?

Hello - I recently upgraded to Mavericks and have experienced a number of problems, one of which matches yours, and after some experimentation found a solution.
Like you, whenever I tried to open a file held on the server in any Adobe software, I would get an error that the file is empty. However, if I copied the file to my desktop, it would open without issue. i then noticed that the server name, which has a space in it, had %20 instead of a space, which drew me to the conclusion that Mavericks was reading the server incorrectly. I ejected the mounted server icons, and then click 'Go', 'Connect to Server', and reconnected. The server reconnected (and this time that space was restored) and I could open all of my files without issue.

That is not normal check all the setting in your Photoshop print dialog and printer settings. I see an option my printer has that could be used to do what you're getting,

Videos online looking choppy when being watched

ok so ive had my mac book pro since may 2010 so its still really new and its great its just been the past week this has started where ill be watching a video online and after a little while of it being fine it starts getting choppy looking not a fluid video what should i do? i just updated my software and i cleaned out my cookies what else could it be? thank you so much

I have to tell you texting technique, while expedient to transmit information to your buddies while you're driving, is difficult to read. Proper punctuation does make a difference to communicate effectively. That said, do you have the latest version of Adobe Flash Player? How is your internet connection speed? Have you tried pausing the video until the stream either catches up or goes ahead?

Logo not printing in PDF form, when being printing from the B2b Portal

I have a smartform, in our CRM 4.0 system. When I go into transaction smartforms, the logo shows up in the preview of the smartform. In displaying the PDF from the Portal, the logo is not showing. I debugged in the background, the function SSFCOMP_PRINT_GRAPHIC is returning a value of sy-subrc = 0. Any ideas?
