Photoshop CS4 help please.
I am using Photoshop cs4 on a windows 7 machine. I suddenly can't save to a pdf. It gives me the message cannot save filename due to program error. I get this on all small and large files. I can save to other formats.
Run the Creative Suite Cleaner Tool and the Acrobat Cleaner Tool and reinstall both. Something updated your globally shared PDF components and it's no longer compatible with CS4. Could be a failed update, could be a perfectly normal general compatibility issue....

Problem installing Adobe Photoshop CS4. Please help me.
Hi Geeks,
I am stuck with Adobe Photoshop CS4 (Trial) installation since last two days. I am desperately looking for help to get rid of this problem.
My Problem:
At the end of installation of Adobe Photoshop CS4 (Trial) i was prompted with en error
message stating some of the components were not installed. When I check the more information button provided in the error message window, it showed below error.
“Adobe Photoshop CS4 English Language Pack Error: Error 2.”
Still I could find the installed Photoshop in C:\Program files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4\Photoshop.exe
When I executed above file; application showed below error message and close it.
“Some of the application components are missing from the application directory, Please reinstall the application.”
I just try to run Adobe Device Central CS4 which was installed along with it. It showed below error message.
“The Localized resource files for this application could not be loaded. Please reinstall or repair the application and try again.”
So My Problem is I am unable to open Photoshop CS4 after its unsuccessful installation.
I spent more than a day in different ways as I explained below in more info section. I am desperately looking for helping hands to fix this problem.
I ever find this kind of difficulty with any other components installation in my 10 years of development experience. Please help me.
More info:
(1) I have downloaded Adobe Photoshop CS4 (Trial) in this month (July 09) from adobe official site.
(2) My PC OS Windows XP SP3.
(3) Prior to install Photoshop CS4 I had Acrobat reader 8 and Adobe DW CS4.
(4) After I read some stuff on net, I downloaded both Windows install Clean up and CS4InstallerDatabaseUtility.exe.
(5) First I uninstalled all DW CS4 and Photoshop CS4 using add/remove then rebooted.
then ran CS4InstallerDatabaseUtility.exe (which really did not removed as it did not
find any Adobe component), then installed Photoshop CS4. No luck. same error.
(6) This time I ran CS4InstallerDatabaseUtility.exe and removed DW CS4, Photoshop CS4 and flash and rebooted. Then I ran Photoshop CS4 as Administrator. Same thing repeated at the end of installation and when I tried to open the photoshop. Finding a real hard time with it.
Any kind of help to get rid of this problem would be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
R Sunil.PS CS4 software itself has to be installed as Admin. Put the downloaded folder on the desktop (if not there already). Open the folder and right click on the .exe file and choose run as Admin.
Install on C drive is the best stable choice.
Before you do all this make the anti-virus is turned off. If windows defender is running turn that off too. If Adobe reader is installed renove that. Ensure no other adobe products are running in the background.
During install the process will hang at 90 percent for about 10 to 15 mins. This is normal.
After the software is installed reboot computer.
After reboot go to start, All Programs and right click on PS CS4. Click on properties, Compatibility and check run as Admin. Hit Apply and OK to close. Run PS CS4 and update to 11.0.1
Be Advised:
Now the biggest problem you might run into is that the trial install went too far and failed. If this happened you cannot re-install PS CS4 trial because of the DRM that is hidden in the registry hive. The hidden DRM prevents people from installing the trial more then once and limits the trial at 30 days. There is nothing you can do other then nuking the hard drive and a fresh install of your operating system. -
Photoshop CS4 Help?!
Hi guys,
I'm doing a project for school with Adobe Photoshop CS4. The project involves me cutting out pieces of various images, and pasting them into one main image. It was going fine for the first ten or so image pieces, but the last time I tried to do it, something very strange happened. When I pasted the piece of an image into my main image, it came out red and transparent. I have no idea why it's doing this because I didn't change anything or do anything differently. What can I do to fix this? Please help me as best as you can. Thanks, guys! :)Yes, that's what I did! Quick Mask mode was on. Thank you so much!

Where is Photoshop CS4 Help???
Where is the Photoshop Help for CS4? When I click on Help/Photoshop Help I get a browser opening up to some "community" crap. Community is fine but I DIDN'T CLICK FOR COMMUNITY. I'm at work and working against the clock and when I click on Help I need the Help! This is outrageous. Someone please tell me I'm wrong and I can install in-product help somehow.
Problem is you cannot really get to the local help files unless you unhook the machine from the network and have then no email, no browsing, no forums, no contact with the surrounding world. So that is really not an option if you are on a broadband that is always connected. Unless you set Photoshop itself to stay offline (see below).
Problem also is that you don't really get to the Help files by choosing Help in the application but you get to the communal Help and have to click yet once more at link in upper righthand corner (really not all that visible either) to get to the actual Help files.
Problem also is you cannot search the Help files and only find results for CS4 and Photoshop (or whichever other CS4 application you are searching fro Help for) and from the Help files - you get all kinds of other results searching the Help files. Unless you go offline.
Even if you bookmark the page as mentioned above, you are unable to search the Help texts only. The search is too wide and does not restrict itself to for instance Photoshop CS4 only. It also gives you results for CS2 and other versions... and also for Lightroom, the Layers Magazine and other stuff.
So, Help from inside a CS4 application does presently not work the way you expect it and it is really hard to drill down to only the area you are looking for to find any information for what you looked for in the first place.
Pressing F1 (as mentioned above) only lowers the intensity of the light of the display - it does not take you to the Help files.
It might be a new way to access Help. Problem is it doesn't really work all that well presently. The idea to have the most actual Help files online is fine. If you ever get to those texts... I sure never do no matter which tricks I try.
Presently one alternative is to download the pdf help-file and search within that. The rest is presently quite "broken" as I see it. Unless you set Photoshop CS4 to stay offline (read on).
To set Photoshop CS4 to keep offline is not all that easy to find the option for. Go to Window, Extensions, Connection. Click the dropdown arrow in the dialog that opens and choose Offline options. Tick Keep me offline and click OK. Only then will you be able to browse the Helpfiles locally on your machine. -
Photoshop CS4 - Help NOT working
If I select Photoshop Help, from the Help pull down menu in Photoshop CS4 I just get the error "HTTP 404 Not Found". Is there a solution to this, I didn't have this problem with CS3?
I definitely say that this is not fixed nor resolved. Two computers running Vista (one is Business 32, the other is Ultimate 64) both have this issue.

What I'm most curious about is the JavaScript code in the "white page" with the AH_ION=true pages, especially the comment on line 2 here that seems to indicate that I should have some setting in my preferences that should tell the browser to go to the correct help page or not. If that's true, where do I set that and WHY should I need to?
if (document.location.href.indexOf("AH_ION=true") > 0) {
// check the user help preference cookie "ah_userpref"
// if its set to "wh_page", redirect to the help system
if (document.cookie.indexOf("ah_userpref=wh_page") > 0 ){

Custom poster with photoshop cs4 help
so i whant to make a custom poster 36x48 inches and i heard the best way is to use photoshop so i bought photoshop cs4 today. so anyways i whant to make a custom poster with a bunch of other pictures on the poster and i heard this is called a life poster. i have about 120-130 pictures so can anybody help me do this like give me instructions or anything and i tryd to do it with photoshop cs2 but ther was white space between the pictures and i dont whant that, i whant all of the pictures to snap together. Also not every picture is the same resolution but they do have over 100 kb each. so if anybody can help me that would be awsome.
You just bought a brand new fighter jet (when you apparently already had a perfectly good one sitting in the hangar behind your house), you're sitting in the cockpit, and you're radioing the tower asking how to start it up and fly a sortie?
Oh, boy...that's a lot to answer. Have you taken the time to explore all the menus, try all the tools, read through the PDF manual and/or Help files? What you want (notice: no "h" in there ;) :)) to do isn't that hard, really, but you have to get a grip on the basics. There are literally thousands of places online that have ready-made tutorials that will walk you through those basic techniques, step-by-step.
All you have to do is hit the Google. Try this format for seaching:

Photoshop CS4 Help Window Pops Up For No Reason
This same thing was happening in Photoshop CS3 and I could never figure out why. I figured that since CS4 was coming out, I would buy it, stop using CS3 and the problem would be solved, well it's not. So far, I'm happy with the new program but for some reason, out of nowhere, while working on a photo, the Photoshop Help window (which opens as a web browser window) will pop up for no reason! Today, it popped up over 6 or 7 times and I nearly had to crash the program to get it to stop. I figured this problem would have been solved with the new version since the same thing was happening in CS3 but it hasn't. I'm running a Windows XP-based machine that I built myself about 2 years ago. I have a 512mb ATI Raedon X1650 video card and have 4GB of RAM so this machine has far more than enough power to run the program. I updated my video and mouse drivers prior to installing the program. Anyone else have this problem?
Thanks for pointing that out. It really happens very rarely, but when it happens, it's quite a huge annoyance.
Well I have about 3,5GB RAM on a Windows Vista 32 Bit system (hence just 3,5 instead of the full 4GB), with the OpenGL options activated, and maybe over 100GB of free HD space (that'll never be a problem, but since swapping is not used by all modules, I often bump into RAM problems when using tools like auto-aligning layers or stitching panoramas) and 2,5Ghz core duo on a notebook. The Windows swap file is also "just" 4GB...but I found more than 4GB to be a bit extreme.
RAM usage is set to 56% right now (916MB), cache levels is set to 6
After restart, everything runs fine again, I hope the help screens leave me alone.
I didn't know this is since v. 7! I worked with all versions since 5.0 and since becoming a freelancer also bought every version since 6.0 except 7. I only experienced this bug in this and the previous version. Maybe my hardware doesn't keep pace with PS anymore -

What Photoshop. Help Please
I have antiques shop and when taking pictures need a complete white back ground sometimes another colour. For instance if I take a picture of Chest of Drawers in a room , I do not want rest of room just Chest of Drawers or a vase on a table, I need just vase etc. Any help appreciated
For doing "knock outs," both Photoshop, and Photoshop Elements, will allow for that, via the techniques that JJMack mentioned. Both programs will allow for the creation of Masks, to accomplish that task. Both will also allow one to create a background, into which one can composite the image of the subject - the chest of drawers, in your example. One could also shoot a background, say a sheet of paper, with no subject, lit in a somewhat similar fashion to the subject, and then with either program, that subjet, with its Mask, could be composited into the image of that "background."
If that would be your primary use, then PsElements would cost a lot less, and probably (I have not actually used the Elements version) even offer some "big button" solutions, which would require a bit more "hand work," in Ps.
Good luck,

Why does Photoshop CS4 keep crashing?! (Mac OS)
I use Photoshop often, daily even. I upgraded to CS4 at the beginning of this year and have a CONSTANT and very IRRITATING problem. It keeps crashing, for no apparent reason. It will crash during all kinds of "tasks". Saving, opening an image from RAW, using the liquify tool, using the clone tool, running an action and any number of others tasks cause a crash in Photoshop CS4.
I work relatively fast, as I use Photoshop on a daily basis. This is how it will happen...
I'll be working on an image and I "command S" to save. There will be a slight delay of about 2-4 seconds and then Photoshop will crash and I will get a pop-up screen to submit a crash report. I have submitted literally hundreds, if not thousands of these. Then, Photoshop sits idle for a few minutes as if it is locked up, unable to "Relaunch". So, I then usually have to "Force Quit" Photoshop, yet, it will not immediatly quit. It takes another couple of minutes to do so before I am able to begin working again. This process happens, on average, a couple of times per hour, if not more.
Luckily, I have "trained" myself to save after almost ever thing I do. But, I inevitable loose something as it happens just after a "task" or during a "save". (It happens during a save frequently.) Plus, I'm loosing valuable time waiting on it to Relaunch, and figuring out where I'm at on the image all over again.
Needless to say, I'm beyond frustrated, to say the least.
There is something else that doesn't make sense. My business partner, who also has a new IMac (not the VERY newest model that just came out but the one just prior to that...It was purchased in December 08 as well) and also runs CS4 does not have this crashing problem! At all! Not once.
Here's the difference in our systems...He purchased the 24" model, while I purchased the 20". And, this is where I actually think the problem may lie...I am running dual monitors, while he does not.
I've tried to trouble-shoot this problem, since he does not have the problem, while I do. I did "About this Mac" on both our machines to see if there were any obvious differences, besides running dual monitors. What I found under HARDWARD were only two minor differences. His processor speed is 2.8 while mine is 2.66 GHz. and the SMC Version of his machine is 1.3f1, while mine is 1.29f1. There were no differences in the GRAPHICS/DISPLAYS section either, beyond my having a second display.
Both his and my graphics/displays are as follows:
ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro:
Chipset Model: ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro
Type: Display
Bus: PCIe
PCIe Lane Width: x16
VRAM (Total): 256 MB
Vendor: ATI (0x1002)
Device ID: 0x9583
Revision ID: 0x0000
ROM Revision: 113-B2250L-259
EFI Driver Version: 01.00.259
Displays:
iMac:
Resolution: 1280 x 800
Depth: 32-bit Color
Core Image: Hardware Accelerated
Main Display: Yes
Mirror: Off
Online: Yes
Quartz Extreme: Supported
Built-In: Yes
Below is the information regarding my second display.
LaCie 324:
Resolution: 1920 x 1200 @ 60 Hz
Depth: 32-bit Color
Core Image: Hardware Accelerated
Main Display: Yes
Mirror: Off
Online: Yes
Quartz Extreme: Supported
Rotation: Supported
Television: Yes
As you can see, my second display is a Lacie 324. It is rather new, I purchased it in November or December 08 as well as my IMac. I have the Lacie set as my main display.
When I have Googled this Photoshop CS4 crash problem, I have come across some mention of the GPU Settings and Enable OpenGL Drawing. I have to admit, I really don't understand this. Should OpenGL Drawing be on or off??? I turned OpenGL Drawing off some time ago because I had a problem with calibrating my Lacie monitor. My monitor was showing images skewed toward red, while my prints were coming out with less red. I Googled this problem (at the time I didn't think this was related to the crashing issue) and someone said they were having trouble calibrating their monitor as well and managed to "fix" that by turning "Enable OpenGL Drawing" off. I did that and it did indeed fix the problem with getting my Lacie monitor calibrated. FYI, my business partner also turned off the Enable OpenGL Drawing feature and...again...he has NOT had the problem with Photoshop CS4 crashing. So, since he is not having the problem and I am, I would assume the "Enable OpenGL Drawing" issue that is mentioned on this site, is not the crashing problem, though I could be wrong.
So, I go back to having a second monitor as being the most-likely candidate for causing the Photoshop crashes. I am wondering if the Lacie display is "drawing" the graphics at the speed that differs, or is incompatable, with Photoshop CS4??? This is just a guess from someone who is not all that technically savy. But, again, I'm not sure. I have also looked on the Lacie website for any updates for the Lacie 324. There are none, as far as I can tell.
I am curious if others with and without dual monitors are having these crashes. If so, have you found any resolution? I'm desperate for help so if anyone can shed any light on this issue, it would be most appreciated.
Below, I will put some specs about my machine, in case that is helpful.
Hardware Overview:
Model Name: iMac
Model Identifier: iMac8,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.66 GHz

Boot ROM Version: IM81.00C1.B00

I have the 11.0.1 version of Photoshop CS4.
