Photoshop CS4 install error

Hiya, I require some help with the installation of photoshop CS4 (i think it's extended edition)
The situation:
I downloaded the InDesign trial version from the adobe website and installed it as a trial. After liking the program, i activated it.
Having had a previous experience with photoshop, i downloaded it as well and installed as a trial. This time, however it did not prompt me if I wished to enter a serial code. I went along with it.
Just recently, Photoshop got the "licence expired" error. I figured that the trial had run out, however I still could not seem to enter a serial code. Deciding to re-install (i still have the installer package) I attempted to run the uninstaller. It encountered errors, so I deleted the photoshop folders out of my program files. (both the x64 and x86 (I'm running win7x64)) Now whenever I try to run the installer package it gets most of the way through checking the system profile then displays the error message:
"Setup has encountered an error and cannot continue. Contact Adobe Customer Support for assistance"
I then used a cleaner to clean all adobe programs from my computer. Now all the installers (PhotoshopCS4 and InDesignCS4) give the same error. I have tried the CS4 cleaning scripts, the lot. any suggestions? I'm not overly worried about my indesign serial, I have it backed up around here somewhere =)
Help would be GREATLY appreciated
PS: No, I dont want to use gimp or paint.net, and I dont feel like formatting my C:\ especially as I havn't been supplied with a system restore disk

The 4.5 installer is not needed for Windows 7 so don't worry about that. Windows 7 has the latest downloader already installed.
If you downloaded CS4 (looks like you did reading your attachment) put the folder on your desktop and run the install from there. For some reason PS CS4  download does not extract well in a system folder. Putting it on the desktop avoids this.
When the folder or download is on the desk top right click on it and look at the general tab. At the bottom there might be a unblock button. Click on this button and it will on lock it. If it is not there don't worry about it. Now if you don't see the unblock there right click on the .exe file in the folder and look for the same. If not there don't worry about it.
In the folder on the desk top right click on the .exe file and choose run as Admin.
Also:
Remove adobe reader if installed.
Turn-off any anti-virus running. Turn off Windows defender if running (if installed).
Download and install CCleaner. Free download and it finds and removes un-wanted old files.

  • Photoshop CS4:Fatal error

This pops up when I open my Photoshop CS4:
Fatal error - missing component: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Version Cue CS4/Client/4.0.0/VersionCue.framework.
Any ideas on what i can do? happens when I open a project.
    Thanks

Ok, after reading tons of threads trying to get a simple answer here are the main points:
You do not need to reinstall anything.
Locate a backup , Time Machine or anyplace where you may have a backup of your Adobe Suite Install.
In both Locations( Hard Drive and Backup) Navigate to: Macintosh HD > Library > Application Support > Adobe > Adobe Version Cue CS4 > Client
Once there you will see your problem Adobe is looking for  folder named 4.0.0 and you have 4.0.1
Fix: Find the backup and copy over folder named "4.0.0" , Problem solved!
Open up Adobe Photoshop CS4 and problem should be fixed.
    Observations:
Upon inspecting folder 4.0.1, I did notice there were exactly 5 (.framework) files just like in folder 4.0.0 with the exception of 4.0.0 having a "Dictionaries" folder. where 4.0.1 has this folder missing. I am not sure how important this particular folder may be, However if by any chance you do not have a backup It might be possible to just change the 4.0.1 folders name to 4.0.0. and this just might work, In theory that is . Good Luck!

  • Photoshop cs4 install fails on Vista with registry access error 1406

I've been trying to install Adobe Photoshop CS4 on my Vista for a couple of days now.  It grinds for a minute or two then tells me "Installation of the following components has failed:  Adobe Drive CS4, Adobe Photoshop CS4"  when I cancel the install and click the "More Information" button, I see this:
    Adobe CSI CS4
    Error:
Error 1603. Error 1406.Could not write value AdobeCS4ServiceManager to key \SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run.   Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.
When I go into regedit, I have no problem creating a string value in the indicated key.
Here are some of the things I've tried:
    1) run setup as administrator (even tho I have UAC turned off)
    2) run setup in WinXP SP2 compatibility mode
    3) use the Adobe Support Advisor to track down the error in their knowledge base and followed steps to apply permissions to descendents of the indicated tree
Done lots of googling plus searching of the experts-eschange knowledge base.

Choose Custom during install, deselect Version Cue, Adobe Drive and Acrobat.com. The CSI Service is related to that.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS4  runnig error - cant  load files

    hi,
ive first time installed adobe cs software in my pc. i have never used this software before nor its previous version.
when i try to run adobe photoshop cs4 - it gives me error after loading for few things that "A required application library failed to load and the product cannot continue, please re-install the application"
ive re installed the application several times but that same error continues.
    any help will b welcomed
    thank you

OK. This error drove me nuts and I have seen a thousand different "solutions" posted on various forums (none of which actually worked), but I think I found the magic bullet for this problem. This appears to be a result of corrupted/missing language pack files. Here's what I did to resolve it once and for all!
You should already have a folder somewhere with the contents/Setup.exe for CS4 Design Premium
Download the trial version of Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended
Unpack the contents to a folder/directory somewhere on your PC
You will NOT be installing the Photoshop CS4 Extended application - only copying some files.
Copy the "extensions" folder from Photoshop CS4 Extended, that you just downloaded to your CS4 Design Premium folder (there should be an "extensions" folder already there as well)
Select yes if prompted to replace existing files/folders.
Double-click the Setup.exe in your CS4 Design Premium directory and re-start the installation of Photoshop from there.
    Problem should be solved.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS4 Installation Error

I'm new to this site and my computer has Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1.
After I installed Photoshop CS4 trial, it failed to install Photoshop, but the rest were successful. I went to get more information and this is the message:
    Adobe Fonts All
    Error:
Error 1603. Error 1907.Could not register font . Verify that you have sufficient permissions to install fonts, and that the system supports this font.
Adobe Photoshop CS4 English Language Pack

If there is a topic similar to this one, then I shouldn't be here!

I have been using Adobe Photoshop CS4 for a few months now without any problems or errors.
But last week.. i had a virus problem and decided to do a Clean Installation of my Operating System.
I was not too worried because I have done this millions of times already... and know the process like the back of my hand.
Well.. after the clean installation was complete, i started to load my applications.
To my surprise.. Adobe Photoshop CS4 would not install. Nor would Adobe Illustrator CS4.
It would get to the screen "Adobe is beginig the installation process" and would stall ..
At first... i thought it would eventually complete on it's own.. but after a few attempts and hours of the same screen with no progress.. it was obvious Adobe was no longer responding at that stage.
I searched high and low, night and day, over a few days trying to figure out the problem.
    I was trouble-shooting everything.
In the middle of trouble-shooting, i took a break to surf the Net and see if i could find any suggestions when i ran into this Forum.
Someone mentioned disabling your Internet Security & Windows Defender.. and i thought.. no way.. it can't be that easy.
Well.. what do you know.. it was my Internet Security (Kaspersky Internet Security 2010)
After disabling Kaspersky Internet Security 2010, Adobe flew right pass the part where it was stalling, and finished installation without incident.
Adobe Illustrator CS4 also installed without any problems ...
I just wanted to share my experience as i know how frustrating it can be when software refuses to install.
Good Luck to everyone.. be patient.. trial & error. .. and im sure you'll figure it out.

    @ ApologetX
I had a similar problem when i extracted the contents of my Adobe DVD and made an ISO file out of it so i would no longer need the DVD for installation.
But what i realized is that.. Adobe will not install if it's installed from the ISO.. and during installation.. an error would pop up.. and ask for the DVD
You probably have done something similar.
Here's what i did to fix:
    - Extract the contents of Adobe Photoshop CS4 into a Folder
    - and install from that ..
After i extracted the contents and installed from "setup.exe" .. the installation completed without error ..
    DVD
    - If you're having problems from the DVD .. then try to extract the Contents of the DVD on to your Desktop..
    and install from there ..
    Trial Installer
    - As for the Trial you are referring to .. im not familiar with it ..
but try to extract the contents of it to your Desktop .. and go from there ..
    Good Luck

  • Photoshop CS4 - Licensing Error 150:30

I have a MacBook with the OS X Maverick Operating System and have had no prior issues using my Photoshop CS4. My computer recently crashed and had to have my operating system re-installed. I tried to open up Photoshop today and this window popped up: "Licensing for this product has stopped working". I tried restarting the computer like the window mentioned and that did nothing. I also tried the solutions listed on the Adobe website for the Error: 150:30 and nothing has worked. My main problem is I cannot finish the "solutions" because I cannot locate the folder "FlexNet" or "FlexNet Licensing" or anything of that nature that is referred to in the solutions.

The Licensing repair tool does work. OSX 10.7 and above:
Download and open LicenseRecovery111.dmg on your Desktop
Open Terminal and type sudo and leave a space. <do not press "Enter" yet>.
Open the License Folder on the opened LicenseRecovery111.dmg and drag
"LicenseRecover.py" file into the Terminal Window.
The sudo command and path to the .py file should look like the screenshot below.
    Press Enter to begin
Type in your password, but know that you will not see dots or asterisks as you type.
Press Enter again, let the script run and finish. You should be able to run Photoshop now.
(If this answer solves it, mark it as "correct" or get back to me if it doesn't.)

  • Photoshop CS4 install issues

I have a computer I just rebuilt with a new board, processor and memory.  I installed a clean copy of Windows Vista Business on a freshly formatted 300 gig hardrive.  I previously had purchased a download copy of Photoshop CS4.  I downloaded my software and when it began to extract the files it went about a third of the way and then I got an error message.
"A problem occurred while extracting some files.  Check available space on your computer and the write privileges on the destination folder."
The drive has 252 GB free and I am in an Administrative account.  I have redownloaded the software.  Emptied my temp files and checked the disc for errors.  I am stumped.  The folder it is extracting to is on my Desktop.  Before attempting to extract for the 3rd time I deleted folder.  Anyone have any ideas.

But have you configured it appropriately? Extraction errors usually point to either to insufficient temporary space in your user temp directory or a missing component required by the installer, which could be a part of MSInstaller itself or an auxiliary component such as .NET runtimes or MSVC DLLs...

  • Photoshop CS4 Licensing error

I'm using my Photoshop CS4 for a long time now but on Tuesday it suddenly crashed saying some Licensing error occured and I have to restart my computer to solve the problem. The restart didn't help. I've read, that there is a License Repair Tool, so firstly I've downloaded that one, trying to repair the product. Nothing has changed. The next step was to reinstall the whole product. I also had some difficulties to remove it, because the uninstaller didn't want to start. After removing it with the Creative Suite cleaning tool and removing the nessecary files the reinstalled progmam showed the same message. Also tried to remove the latest Windows updates installed that day without success. Is there any solution for my problem? I have a CS5 upgrade also installed and it's working, but I prefer the CS4 for some reasons.

I've cleand out, but it just showed me another error message (I think the error 6: configuration error) with both the CS4 and the CS5. So I removed all of them, deleted all Adobe files related to CS4 or CS5 and installed them again. The message is the same (Error 150:30), when I start the CS4, but the CS5 works fine. (I've tried it on another computer and it's working there) How can I make sure the service is running correctly or where can I start it manually?

  • Photoshop CS4 - Application Error

I just installed the CS4 Creative Suite 4. Everytime i try to launch photoshop cs4 i recieve an "Photoshop.exe Application Error." This error refferences 0x6963561b and that memory cannot be read at 0x0000008c. Can anyone please help me with this?? I have not even been able to use photoshop yet. I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the suite and I get the same results... Please help.
Thanks for your time and help with this matter.

You don't have the correct secrutiy privileges:
You have to install PS as Admin on Vista/Windows 7. When you first install the software don't run it. Go to your DVD drive and explore. Look for the PS folder and find the .exe install file. Right click on this and choose run as Admin. (there is a difference between being a admin on a computer and installing software in the Admin mode)
So when you first start PS in Vista/Windows 7 you have to run the software in Admin mode to get all the privileges.
Right click on the PS icon, choose properties, compatibility tab and then check Run this program as an administrator. Click Apply then OK to close. Then restart PS.
Don't forget to update PS CS4 to 11.01.

  • Photoshop CS4 program error: deleted prefs, keeps coming back instantly

I am running Photoshop CS4 extended on my Mac OS X 10.5.6 OS. Out of no where, I create a new file, try to fill a layer with a solid color, I get the generic program error message. I click OK to get rid of it, but it is erratic. I have to force quit the program.
I deleted the pref file manually as well as Apple + Option + Shift keys while loading the program and had Photoshop delete it for me.
What other files do i need to delete/reset for this to work properly again?
    My computer:
    Mac Pro Dual Quad (octo)
    12 GB of ram
I pulled up activity monitor and it isn't using much memory.

sounds like a bad directory I would run Diskwarrior or disk utility of the OS install DVD

  • Photoshop CS4 install problem

I`m running Windows Vista, AMD Turion X2 64bit, 4GB RAM, 320GB HDD. Downloaded the installer from the website, placed it in C:\Temp and tried to install.
When the installation begins it shows the "Checking System Profile" window, when the progress bar is near the end an error message appears saying "Command line option syntax error. Type Command /? for Help.". I click the OK button and the installer gets stuck at the "Checking System Profile" window.
I've tried common procedures for this such as placing the installer in C:\Temp and changing %TEMP% and %TMP% to C:\Temp. And yes, the installer is being run as administrator.

Here's a solution that worked for me:
Download and install the English version of Photoshop CS4 (The file name has a _CL1 extension.) The errors will still be there. Details show that certain components did not load.
Then download the FRENCH language version -- the one with the _CL4 extension. (I chose French because I could have worked with the program in French if I had to.)
Now open the French installer and REinstall Photoshop. The installer will just show the components that were missing from the English language version installation, so just go ahead and install ONLY those components.
and Voila! You get a working version of Photoshop CS4 64 bit version IN ENGLISH! The French installer only added the missing components which, apparently, had nothing to do with the interface language.

  • Photoshop CS4 "Program Error" when using Text tool

Hello. I was having problems with Photoshop displaying a "Program Error" every so often, so I deleted the preference file and all seemed good. But after deleting the preference file for my Photoshop CS4 and re-launching Photoshop, the text tool causes Photoshop to display a Program Error when using the tool. It never did this before. Should I reinstall Photoshop? I am using a Powermac G5 running 10.5.8. I have already tried repairing the disk permissions.
    Thanks

Thats kinda what I thought too, but the problem started happening randomly. It started when we were trying to use photomerge with large photos. The program just started giving the program errors. I still think it may be a font problem, but without going through my 2000+ fonts and disabling them one by one, how can I resolve this issue?
    Thanks

  • PhotoShop CS4 Fatal Error on Mac

Hi,  Can anyone help with Photoshop CS4 issue on Mac OS 10.6.8?
Getting— 'Fatal Error' missing component/library/applications/adobe version cue CS4/client4.0.0/version cue.framework  —  message when I try to open a file
Before this, with the help of Gene7 i was able to re-activate with license recovery. Worked until I tried to open a file. Updates seem current...
    Thank you.
    Monte

That library is missing. You need to reinstall the application (and updates) to replace the missing files.
Most likely this is because you used Apple's "migration" tool, which doesn't copy all support files needed by applications.
