Photoshop CS4 is messing up my screen! Help!

I was working in Photoshop and all of a sudden my screen froze and was full of horizontal lines. Tried multiple restarts, finally had apple get it back to normal, only for it to happen all over again when I went back into Photoshop. I took pictures but don't know how to post them here. Has anyone seen this or know what could be going on?? Only happens in photoshop.

What model of Macintosh do you have?
What OS version are you using?
Was the display mess up outside the Photoshop windows, or just in the Photoshop document window?

Photoshop CS4 setup does not run. Help plz.

Am having problem with installing the Adobe Photoshop CS4 ( and the same problem with other Adobe CS4 softwares flash, soundbooth, after effects etc...)
the setup does not start when i run it. the setup appears in task manager processes but not on the desktop.
i install it before on the same OS (Win XP SP3), but after formating it, i cant.
If ever i run the setup from CD, it "Inspect my system" but it does not complete (remain 3/4).
As AV, i have Zone Alarm Internet security, but i configure it to allow Adobe but still nothing.
Can anyone help me plz because i badly need these softwares for my work.
Any software that i can use to force the setup installation to run????

for the zone alarm problem, its that, i try to install the software in safe mode but still the same problem.
For other details:
its that i just format my pc..
am using the same windows i used before i format, n photoshop cs4 did install on it and i used the same setup before n it install before i format.
so i dnt really knw where the problem is.
am just installing the photoshop cs4 after a post format.
any further suggestions please.?
i really need those software for my work. & the problem is that its the same problem with flash, after effects, soundbooth cs4.

Photoshop CS4 Extended ...Program's 'Help' does not work

I have PS CS4 Extended ... the Help command does not work ... I get a message saying "there was an error launching th eAdobe Help application. You may need to reinstall the application and Help component.
IK have un-installed the program completely and then reinstalled it. Still, the Help does not work, although the rest of the program seems to perform ok.
I'm rather at my wits end.
Has anyone any suggestions.

Installing Photoshop CS4 on Windows 8.1 - Screen Prompts are Invisible

When trying to install CS4 on Windows 8.1, I cannot read the setup screens, as it seems many elements of the screen are either the same color as the background or invisible. This makes it impossible to install the product on my installation of Windows.

You might also want to look at the fonts you have installed in case one of them is conflicting with the font utilized by installer.

I went through the process of clicking through the how to's and the troubleshooting and came to the conclusion that I need to install the adobe drive 5 but I can not complete the installation. I may be incorrect on this so I need immediate assistance as I have poster and ad deadlines. I also tried disabling the gatekeeper and solution 3 on the troubleshooting of slow saving on photoshop.

Are you attempting to save the file to a network location instead of your local hard drive? If so, this is probably why you are encountering an issue and why Adobe Drive would be the solution. As we've documented, it is a bad idea to open from or save directly to a network source: Networks, removable media | Photoshop | CS4 and later. Drive can help you get around this by setting up an Adobe supported virtual connection to the network. Thus, if installing Adobe Drive is the solution you need and your need help with installing Drive, please post to the Downloading, Installing, Setting Up forum.
If you are not saving to a network location, then Adobe Drive is not going to be the answer. Then we'll need to know more about the file you are saving.

How to deactivate Photoshop CS4 as the default browser for image

I wanted to deactivate Photoshop CS4 as the default browser for image. Now everytime when i want to open BMP(bitmap) file it always use photoshop CS4 to open the file. It takes a longer time to load the bitmap picture when using photoshop CS4 to open.
Can anybody help!

Mylenium is implying just that. There's a checkbox that reads something like [ ] Always Use This Program to Open This File Type.
I do know that in Photoshop CS5 in Bridge there's a preference dialog that allows you to set file associations as well... I'm not where I can test CS4 at the moment. There may be such a dialog also in Bridge CS4. Open Bridge, choose Edit - Preferences - File Associations if that subcategory exists, then find your file type and change the association.
Yet a third possibility is that if you have a viewer program like IrfanView that you'd like to associate with the file type, then the viewer program likely offers a menu through which you can indicate you want that program assocated with particular file type(s). I have instructed IrfanView to make itself the viewer for all Image types, and that works well.

CS4 trial Installer.!! HELP!!

Before I reformat my PC (windows xp), I succesfully installed the CS4 trial on it. But, when I reformatted, I can't install it anymore
So, I downloaded another one, but it still doesn't work. I can't find the answer for my problem in the customer support so I decided to ask here in the forum.
The installer opens, but when it is starting to install the components, it's saying that:
"Installation Failed, One or more required components of Adobe Photoshop CS4 failed to install correctly."
Help!! I really need CS4!!

Well, then buy it?! Your motivation to re-install a trial product is questionable at best. Honestly. Seriously. That aside, how did you re-install? Did you do a proper low-level format of the drive? When Windows was installed, did you run all the necessary updates, in particular for the installer sub-system?

What has happened to "Help" in Photoshop CS4?

When you click on "Help" in Photoshop CS4 it no longer opens a document with explanations of the functions of Photoshop. I'm trying to import a font into Photoshop.

I am having the same issue with Photoshop/CS5! Having been away from any Photoshop work since June, I just sat down to review how to edit text. Boy am I pissed that I can't access the "user manual" help, which I have found to be some of the best software help out there! The change must have happened in the last few months.
What is EVEN WORSE is when I do click on any "text" articles found via search, they take me to a nearly BLANK screen! The only things showing are a useless, tiny search box that doesn't work, and a survey window that pops up and says "How useful did you find this?" UH, a nearly blank screen is NEVER useful - seriously?
I'd love a link to CS5 Photoshop user manual so I can go back to getting exactly the information that has helped me in the past.
BAD, BAD move, Adobe. You software companies just can't leave well enough alone - you "broke" something that I thought was a very helpful feature. It wasn't broke - why did you have to mess with it?

everytime i start cs4, it says "adobe photoshop cs4 now includes graphics card acceleration. we recomend you vist your video card manufacturers website and download and install latest drives.
I am running vista 64 bit and a ati radeon hd 4800 series card "4870 to be exact" and under properties it is 8.612.0.0, but when i follow the adobe link and it brings me to the site it has version 9.5?? i clicked update driver and it says its upto date, is this a problem, and why does it show this everytime photoshop starts?

Go to this site and download the 9.9 driver set. The 9.5 driver set had a streaming problem that had to be fixed with a hotfix. I have the 4870 also and the 9.9 drivers are stable and have no issues with PS CS4 on vista 64 bit.

Sometimes it is better not to change drivers if you don't have issues. But the 9.5 set has issues.
Make sure you un-install the old drivers. When you click on the Icon and start the install it will unpack as normal but you will come upon a screen to install or uninstall. Choose uninstall to remove the old driver package. Reboot. Then click on the icon again, it will unpack and you will get the screen again so choose install. Reboot after install.
If I remember correctly the 9.5 drivers, after install, did not show the reboot screen. You still have to reboot.

what i don't like about cs4 is
i can't enlarge for example the navigator palette , i can enlarge but only increase the donwn-right corner instead in the cs3 i can do clicking both the down right and left conrners , and have a nice navigator palette
may i do with cs4?

and is there a way to disable the move feature keeping on the gpu ON (enable the acceleration video card) ?
i mean
i don't like to use the hand tool and when i move the photos, it moves like a video game often go out of the monitor

Mantralightroom - you can get Photoshop back to CS3 (more fluid and less 'restricted') in this way - Turn Window/Application frame OFF. Now you have your (now three) screen modes behaving openly with the documents behind the panels. Unfortunately the panels are not quite as easy to resize, and dock together as they were in previous versions - but its still OK, and this should help you with the Navigator panel.

JPEG files are not layered files they are just image files so the green lines are a part of that file.
Usually cross lines are added to prevent anyone from using the file without proper rights, its a way of safeguarding the artwork.
You have to ask the owner of the file to remove the lines for you.

Plz help Photoshop CS4 trial installation error

Yesterday i downloaded Adobe Photoshop CS4 Trial from adobe's official website. it took about 2 hours on 1MBPS DSL. it was 814 mb 7z file and anoth extractor when i tried to extract the 7z file with adobe extractor it went fine but at 100% an error occured (see the screen shot). Now when i go to folder where the setup files has been extracted and open the setup file. nothing happens no file is opened even after many retries. plz help me.

Can I move my Photoshop CS4 to a different computer without messing up my Photoshop CC?

I just recently bought Photoshop CC.
I'll be deleting my Photoshop CS4 off my computer soon. Is it possible to delete that off of my computer and instal it on a laptop?
I read somewhere that I can deactivate my Photoshop CS4 and then install it on another computer, however, I don't want to mess up the Photoshop CC.

The programs have nothing to do with one another, so just go ahead. And you don't have to uninstall, just deactivate. uninstalling potentially may break shared components like PDF libraries, so either just leave it in place or be prepared for having to reinstall CC.

Photoshop CS4 in-application help

I am using the trial Photoshop CS4 and cannot get the in-application Help to work. the CS3 Help works just fine.
When I launch Help from the Menu bar I am directed to the Adobe Site.
When I launch the Adobe Help application from the Applications folder, I get the Help window, and when I click on the 'Help for' menu and Choose 'Adobe Photoshop CS4' I get this
"This topic is in the Help system of another product. To view the topic, install that product. file:///Library/Application%20Support/Adobe/Help/en_US/Photoshop/11.0/help.html'
I need 'Help' with 'Help'.

Also, when you've opened that page, you'll see a little (
very little) PDF icon at the top there, which gives you the option of downloading the whole Help site as a 40+MB PDF document to your drive. Useful if you're always connected to the Internet, but it has the downside of not benefiting from updates, additions and corrections.
