  • Adobe Photoshop CS4 has Stopped Working on Windows 7

    Hey guys and girls. I recently got a new computer running Windows 7 64bit. I still have good ol photoshop cs4 and wanted to use it on this new computer. The install process was completed and as I started the program, I get the "Adobe Photoshop CS4 has stopped working" box. I've looked through some forums, and a lot of them mention the wacom tablet issue, which is not the issue since I've yet to install the drivers for my tablet. Has anyone come across this problem at all? This is what shows up when I get that error box.

    Please help, thanks in advance

    The first thing that I would do is insure that you have the latest video driver installed (but do keep any older ones, just in case you must roll-back - newest is not always the best).
    If that does not help, then open Even Viewer, and check for all warning, or error messages in System and Application tabs, for the time that PS crashed. If you find any with links, follow those links - be patient, as some might take a few moments to send data to MS, and then for MS to process it, to open the proper page for that link plus the data gathered. This ARTICLE goes into a bit more detail, and I do not think that it is too Adobe Premiere-centric.
    Good luck,

  • Photoshop CS4 has stopped working--importing video frames to layers

    Whenever I get the part of the video selected that I want and hit okay I get a message saying:
    "Adobe Photoshop CS4 has stopped working"
    How can I fix this?
    Thanks

    Also, you can make sure your system is 64 bit capable by:
       Open Performance Information and Tools by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking Performance Information and Tools.
    Click View and print details.
    In the System section, you can see what type of operating system you're currently running under System type. Under 64-bit capable, you can see whether you can run a 64-bit version of Windows. (If your computer is already running a 64-bit version of Windows, you won't see the 64-bit capable listing.)

  • My Photoshop CS4 has stopped working - Error 148:3 (Licensing has stopped working).....help!

    My Photoshop CS4 has stopped working - Error 148:3 (Licensing has stopped working).....help please?
    I've not changed anything since the last time I used it but it's just refusing to work.

    Ed,
    It seems that there might be some gremlin in the licensing module. The PS CS4 board has several similar instances. I do not know exactly what the problem is, but this should be an easy reset by Adobe. It has worked for the PS users and requires one free telephone call. I am with Harm on this. I doubt that many, if any, users can be of much help. The installation issues *used* to be simple and quick, but I have not had to make that call, since Illustrator 3. Have your S/N handy. If you purchased from the Adobe Store, a receipt # might come in handy too. Once your product has been verified, you'll probably be asked to enter a key, and away you go.
    Good luck,

  • Photoshop CS4 - Help NOT working

    If I select Photoshop Help, from the Help pull down menu in Photoshop CS4 I just get the error "HTTP 404 Not Found". Is there a solution to this, I didn't have this problem with CS3?

    I definitely say that this is not fixed nor resolved. Two computers running Vista (one is Business 32, the other is Ultimate 64) both have this issue.
    Dreamweaver CS4 - not working
    Bridge CS4 - not working
    Flash CS4 - works correctly
    Contribute CS4 - not working
    Fireworks CS4 - not working
    Photoshop CS4 - not working
    After Effects CS4 - works correctly
    Premiere Pro CS4 - not working
    Encore CS4 - (still need to check)
    InDesign CS4 - not working
    Illustrator CS4 - not working
    Soundbooth CS4 - not working
    What I'm most curious about is the JavaScript code in the "white page" with the AH_ION=true pages, especially the comment on line 2 here that seems to indicate that I should have some setting in my preferences that should tell the browser to go to the correct help page or not. If that's true, where do I set that and WHY should I need to?
    if (document.location.href.indexOf("AH_ION=true") > 0) {
    // check the user help preference cookie "ah_userpref"
    // if its set to "wh_page", redirect to the help system
    if (document.cookie.indexOf("ah_userpref=wh_page") > 0 ){
    redirectUrl = "index.html";
    // otherwise ,redirect to the community help and support page
    }else{
    var loc = getLangName();
    redirectUrl = "http://www.adobe.com/go/lr_Dreamweaver_community_en";
    if (loc == "en_US") {
    var id = getSamcapId();
    if (id.length > 0) {
    redirectUrl = redirectUrl + "?trackingid=" + id;
    var pageTracker = _gat._getTracker("UA-2987543-3");
    pageTracker._trackPageview();

    It's tough to diagnose what's going wrong, but you can find a little more out about that by going into the Windows Application or System Event Log and looking for Error entries:
    1.  Click the Start button.
    2.  Right-click on Computer and choose Manage.
    3.  Expand Event Viewer by clicking the little > next to it.
    4.  Expand Windows Logs.
    5.  Click on Application.
    6.  Look in the list for Error entries corresponding to your Photoshop crash.
    7.  Click on the most recent Error entry.
    8.  Look in the pane below the General tab and note what the Faulting module is.
    9.  You may just want to copy the entire contents of that pane and post it here.
    A last-ditch-effort option might be to reinstall Photoshop, but let's try to figure out just what's failing first.

  • "Edit in" Photoshop CS4 no longer working. Lightroom to Photoshop

    I just replaced my home desktop Win8 computer. I reinstalled all my software and for a brief period Lightroom (v. 5.7 with Camera Raw 8.7) was working with Photoshop CS4. Now, I use "Edit in" Photoshop and the Photoshop program will open, but it will not open my Lightroom selected photo.
    Yes, I have looked through the forums and tried reinstalling both programs. It still doesn't work.
    I am VERY frustrated with Adobe. Adobe doesn't seem to be providing an update that works, nor is it easy to contact the company for help. Someone please...?  Ron [email protected]

  • Help getting a Photoshop CS4 script to work with PS CS5?

    I don't know AppleScript, but have a script for Photoshop CS4 that saves to the currently open image as a .png file on the desktop
    try
    tell application "Adobe Photoshop CS4"
    activate
    --get the current document name
    set myDoc to the current document
    set currentName to name of myDoc
    --remove .psd extension
    set docBaseName to (items 1 thru ((length of currentName) - 4) of currentName) as string
    --write the temporary file
    set theFile to "~/Desktop/" & docBaseName & ".png"
    --save the temp document
    save myDoc in theFile as PNG with options {class:PNG save options} appending lowercase extension with copying
    end tell
    end try
    Now that Photoshop CS5 is out I tried changing the script above from
    +tell application "Adobe Photoshop CS5"+
    to
    +tell application "Adobe Photoshop CS5"+
    But this doesn't work. Is there any way of changing it to get it to work with Photoshop CS5?

    Not able to help but I have seen problems posted with CS5 & AppleScript already at Adobe's forums…

  • Photoshop Cs4 doesn't work :(

    Hi! I'm italian, excuse me because I don't speak English very well!
    I have this problem with Photoshop CS4:
    my operating system is windows vista 64 bit,I has installed many times the version of test of Photoshop Cs4, the installation goes to good, but in the moment I try to use Photoshop, windows says me " the program has stopped of work" and it is closed all…
    I have watched in the visual display unit of events of windows, in the section registries of windows and the error that appears is the following one:
    " Application that it has generated the Photoshop.exe error, 11.0.0.0 version, timestamp 0x48d3882e, module that has generated the error nvoglv32.dll, version 8.17.12.58 96, timestamp 0x4c378f09, code exception 0xc0000005, offset error 0x000a85db, ID process 0xe14, date and hour of start of the application 0x01cb706c671eed10."
    I hope that someone can help me, thanks!

    Hi Mylenium! Thanks you...but in that way I can adjust my configuration? And which configuration?
    And when you say: "install a newer one", you refer to Photoshop? Because I have installed many times it.
    Excuse me for all these questions and for the disturbance!

  • Why wont photoshop CS4 free trail work?

    I have downloaded a free trial of photoshop CS4 and have been trying for hours to get it to work. When I click on on of the folders it asks what program I want to use to open it. I was prompted to use bitzipper and did. Bitzipper said I had successfully downloaded it. Then when I try to open the files in photoshop it prompts me to choose a program. I choose bitzipper and it asks me to install it. I have turned off nmy firewall but when I try to open the files it says blocked, I allow and it just rescrambles everything. Any ideas?

    Welcome to the forum.
    The download version (trial, or otherwise) is archived. I assume that it's in 7z format. That is like ZIP, but is more X-platform.
    Once you have downloaded the file, you need to Extract that file. On my XP-Pro, Windows Explorer will do the Extraction. Do this to a temp folder and make sure that you choose "Folder Structure," of similar. This will Extract the necessary files and folders to that temp folder.
    As Mylenium states, then Dbl-click on the Setup.exe file and all else should happen automatically.
    Make sure that ALL anti-virus, pop-up blockers and spy sweepers are turned off, before you install. Note also that PS will want to be installed on your C:\. Allow that.
    Good luck, and enjoy,

    To open "Adobe Photoshop CS4" you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 Runtime.

    Java for OS X 2014-001

  • Photoshop cs4 doesn't work properly.

    I'm a photoshop cs4 user, my photoshop won't open any psd file.
    It shuts down after openning a file.
    There was no problem a few months ago.

    Without proper system info and other technical details like what the files specifically contain, where they are stored, your PS swap file preferences and so on nobody can tell you anything. from the files being damaged to containing references to e.g. flaky fonts to PS not being able to create its temp files there could be any number of things at play here.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS4 has stopped working

    I recently purchased and installed Adobe CS4 Design Premium for my new sony vaio LV. Right away I noticed that Photoshop and Bridge do not have the proper logos in the application list. Once I opened Photoshop (64 bit) It seemed to work fine. I opened and image file, but when I tried to add and edit text, the program became inactive and Windows popped up to say that the program had stopped working. Windows then checks for a solution to the problem, determines nothing and does not present an error report. I can't seem to keep the program open long enough to perform even one task. I saved/attached 2 screen shots in word.

    Could a bad install explain why mine has "stopped working"? I've had to install it twice because I keep getting that message, and I've had to re-install it twice because of having to do a couple system recoveries. I'm tired of calling Adobe to tell them that I need to re-register my software! I don't understand why I keep getting that message.
    And, fwiw, if I first open the non-64bit version, then close it, the 64bit version will open without that message. What gives? I've also run the cleaner, and that helped for a little while, but started getting the error again.

  • Photoshop CS4 serial not working for 64 bit

    Ok heres the story, ive been using my copy for about 8 months straight without any problems, yesterday I start up photoshop as I do every day and BLAM, it tells me the serial Ive been using is no longer valid.
    When i try to re enter the serial it gives me a big fat red cross.
    The weird thing is that the 32bit version seems to work just fine.
    I already tried re installing the program, used the CS4 cleaning utility and whatnot, but still the same problem, 64 bit asks for serial, 32bit works, I have 8 gigs of ram in my rig and hate to let it all go to waste by using the 32 bit, so if anyone has any clue about my problem, please share.
    Cheers

    Sounds like a specific part of the licensing service does not launch. Have you checked your event viewer and your Services panel?
