Photoshop CS4 no longer working

Adobe Photoshop CR4 has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is avaible. I have been getting this for over a month now & my class starts back up in 2 weeks, which I need this software. Someone please help?? All my other Adobe software works fine. I have Vista Ultimate, laptop, Vistablet pen pad (updated driver already) student edition web premium cs4. I read somewhere to update & rollback NIVIDIA Geforce 8400m GS driver which I did, checked for virus.. I'm not very technical with computers so please let me know if you need more info? Is this a problem with photoshop or windows? I also read something about disable GU??? (something) but I have no idea what or where that is. Help please?? Thanks!

It's tough to diagnose what's going wrong, but you can find a little more out about that by going into the Windows Application or System Event Log and looking for Error entries:
1.  Click the Start button.
2.  Right-click on Computer and choose Manage.
3.  Expand Event Viewer by clicking the little > next to it.
4.  Expand Windows Logs.
5.  Click on Application.
6.  Look in the list for Error entries corresponding to your Photoshop crash.
7.  Click on the most recent Error entry.
8.  Look in the pane below the General tab and note what the Faulting module is.
9.  You may just want to copy the entire contents of that pane and post it here.
A last-ditch-effort option might be to reinstall Photoshop, but let's try to figure out just what's failing first.

  • "Edit in" Photoshop CS4 no longer working. Lightroom to Photoshop

    I just replaced my home desktop Win8 computer. I reinstalled all my software and for a brief period Lightroom (v. 5.7 with Camera Raw 8.7) was working with Photoshop CS4. Now, I use "Edit in" Photoshop and the Photoshop program will open, but it will not open my Lightroom selected photo.
    Yes, I have looked through the forums and tried reinstalling both programs. It still doesn't work.
    I am VERY frustrated with Adobe. Adobe doesn't seem to be providing an update that works, nor is it easy to contact the company for help. Someone please...?  Ron [email protected]

  • Adobe Photoshop CS4 has Stopped Working on Windows 7

    Hey guys and girls. I recently got a new computer running Windows 7 64bit. I still have good ol photoshop cs4 and wanted to use it on this new computer. The install process was completed and as I started the program, I get the "Adobe Photoshop CS4 has stopped working" box. I've looked through some forums, and a lot of them mention the wacom tablet issue, which is not the issue since I've yet to install the drivers for my tablet. Has anyone come across this problem at all? This is what shows up when I get that error box.

    The first thing that I would do is insure that you have the latest video driver installed (but do keep any older ones, just in case you must roll-back - newest is not always the best).
    If that does not help, then open Even Viewer, and check for all warning, or error messages in System and Application tabs, for the time that PS crashed. If you find any with links, follow those links - be patient, as some might take a few moments to send data to MS, and then for MS to process it, to open the proper page for that link plus the data gathered. This ARTICLE goes into a bit more detail, and I do not think that it is too Adobe Premiere-centric.

  • Photoshop CS4 has stopped working--importing video frames to layers

    Whenever I get the part of the video selected that I want and hit okay I get a message saying:
    "Adobe Photoshop CS4 has stopped working"
    How can I fix this?
    Thanks

    Also, you can make sure your system is 64 bit capable by:
       Open Performance Information and Tools by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking Performance Information and Tools.
    Click View and print details.
    In the System section, you can see what type of operating system you're currently running under System type. Under 64-bit capable, you can see whether you can run a 64-bit version of Windows. (If your computer is already running a 64-bit version of Windows, you won't see the 64-bit capable listing.)

  • My Photoshop CS4 has stopped working - Error 148:3 (Licensing has stopped working).....help!

    My Photoshop CS4 has stopped working - Error 148:3 (Licensing has stopped working).....help please?
    I've not changed anything since the last time I used it but it's just refusing to work.

    Ed,
    It seems that there might be some gremlin in the licensing module. The PS CS4 board has several similar instances. I do not know exactly what the problem is, but this should be an easy reset by Adobe. It has worked for the PS users and requires one free telephone call. I am with Harm on this. I doubt that many, if any, users can be of much help. The installation issues *used* to be simple and quick, but I have not had to make that call, since Illustrator 3. Have your S/N handy. If you purchased from the Adobe Store, a receipt # might come in handy too. Once your product has been verified, you'll probably be asked to enter a key, and away you go.
    Good luck,

  • Message "Adobe Photoshop is no longer working"

    Is anyone else having this problem?  I click on the icon for photoshop and the program opens, then a message pops up saying "Adobe Photoshop is no longer working.  Windows does not have a solution yet.  Please close the window."  What do I do with this?  Do I need to try and re-install adobe photoshop?  This will be the second time there was a problem with it and I had to re[install it.  Someone tell me what is the issue.  I'm using Windows 7 64 bit.  Thanks Sooci7777

    Was Photoshop working before this? Was there an incident that happened post which Photoshop failed to open?
    Have you tried resetting PS preferences? Follow instructions here to do so and see if it helps: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/375776

  • CS4 no longer works after installing CS6 manager update

    Is Adobe targeting older versions of the software with the new manager?
    Some of my plug-ins only work in the older versions of the software and I use a triple boot system with separate drives for Windows XP, Vista and W8. They each have CS3, CS4 and CS6 (I missed out on W7 and CS5).
    After I updated CS6 to the latest version of the download manager CS4 no longer runs. I discovered today that it will if I am online. I am running a legal copy of the CS4 Master collection and has been running with no problem for years. I have a back up of the drive and used it to replace the whole drive in case there was an error somewhere, something I have had to do every six moths or so. That did not solve the problem. The licence allowed two copies and I do have it on a second machine at home and that still works. That machine does not have the recent CS6 update yet.
    The original licence agreement for CS4 didn't require you to be online. My broadband connection is intermittent because I live in a rather remote place. It has been down for a few days and I could not work even in CS4.

  • Illustrator CS4 not longer working in Windows 7 - reload no help

    Hello> Hope someone here can help out. Just back from 3 weeks away and Illustrator CS4 no longer loads in our Windows 7 system. We have the Master Suite - Educational version and it just stopped loading. Tried reinstalling twice and it still doesn't load. Don't know what the problem is - other programs seem to be working. Do I unistall the whole suite and reinstall fromscratch?? Ideas??
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello evolphin -
    I ran the event viewer and came up with this:
    The program Illustrator.exe version 14.0.128.0 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel.
    Process ID: 192c
    Start Time: 01cbfef1e0a16d07
    Termination Time: 7
    Application Path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CS4\Support Files\Contents\Windows\Illustrator.exe
    Report Id: 4abb3548-6ae5-11e0-9239-6c626db9e9cd
    I checked the Action Center and it only confirmed that this error occured - no solutions or reasons why it happened.  I have uninstalled and re-installed the program with everything in the system shut down ie: all programs, virus scanners, firewall running in the background. I even ran the cleaner tool but the program won't launch. Not sure where to go from here.

  • Photoshop CS4 - Help NOT working

    If I select Photoshop Help, from the Help pull down menu in Photoshop CS4 I just get the error "HTTP 404 Not Found". Is there a solution to this, I didn't have this problem with CS3?

    I definitely say that this is not fixed nor resolved. Two computers running Vista (one is Business 32, the other is Ultimate 64) both have this issue.
    Dreamweaver CS4 - not working
    Bridge CS4 - not working
    Flash CS4 - works correctly
    Contribute CS4 - not working
    Fireworks CS4 - not working
    Photoshop CS4 - not working
    After Effects CS4 - works correctly
    Premiere Pro CS4 - not working
    Encore CS4 - (still need to check)
    InDesign CS4 - not working
    Illustrator CS4 - not working
    Soundbooth CS4 - not working
    What I'm most curious about is the JavaScript code in the "white page" with the AH_ION=true pages, especially the comment on line 2 here that seems to indicate that I should have some setting in my preferences that should tell the browser to go to the correct help page or not. If that's true, where do I set that and WHY should I need to?
    if (document.location.href.indexOf("AH_ION=true") > 0) {
    // check the user help preference cookie "ah_userpref"
    // if its set to "wh_page", redirect to the help system
    if (document.cookie.indexOf("ah_userpref=wh_page") > 0 ){
    redirectUrl = "index.html";
    // otherwise ,redirect to the community help and support page
    }else{
    var loc = getLangName();
    redirectUrl = "http://www.adobe.com/go/lr_Dreamweaver_community_en";
    if (loc == "en_US") {
    var id = getSamcapId();
    if (id.length > 0) {
    redirectUrl = redirectUrl + "?trackingid=" + id;
    var pageTracker = _gat._getTracker("UA-2987543-3");
    pageTracker._trackPageview();

  • Help getting a Photoshop CS4 script to work with PS CS5?

    I don't know AppleScript, but have a script for Photoshop CS4 that saves to the currently open image as a .png file on the desktop
    try
    tell application "Adobe Photoshop CS4"
    activate
    --get the current document name
    set myDoc to the current document
    set currentName to name of myDoc
    --remove .psd extension
    set docBaseName to (items 1 thru ((length of currentName) - 4) of currentName) as string
    --write the temporary file
    set theFile to "~/Desktop/" & docBaseName & ".png"
    --save the temp document
    save myDoc in theFile as PNG with options {class:PNG save options} appending lowercase extension with copying
    end tell
    end try
    Now that Photoshop CS5 is out I tried changing the script above from
    +tell application "Adobe Photoshop CS5"+
    to
    +tell application "Adobe Photoshop CS5"+
    But this doesn't work. Is there any way of changing it to get it to work with Photoshop CS5?

    Not able to help but I have seen problems posted with CS5 & AppleScript already at Adobe's forums…

  • Photoshop CS4 no longer runs on iMac

    I had a fan issue on my iMac and after speaking with two different agents the last one had me move some files to the trash. Now Photoshop CS4 will no longer run. Operating system: OS10.7.5. Can't reinstall from the disks. Anyone know how to fix this?

    This doesn't sound like bad preferences - more like missing files (possibly in Application Support).
    Your best bet is going to be reinstalling Photoshop CS4, then reapplying the updates.
    Note - it would have been very easy to check Activity Monitor and see if a process was cauing the CPU activity/heat.  If there was no busy process causing extra CPU or GPU activity, then the most likely explanation would be dust buildup around the heatsinks and fans inside the machine.  But randomly removing application files and support files to diagnose a fan running too often - that is not professional, by any means.

  • Photoshop Cs4 doesn't work :(

    Hi! I'm italian, excuse me because I don't speak English very well!
    I have this problem with Photoshop CS4:
    my operating system is windows vista 64 bit,I has installed many times the version of test of Photoshop Cs4, the installation goes to good, but in the moment I try to use Photoshop, windows says me " the program has stopped of work" and it is closed all…
    I have watched in the visual display unit of events of windows, in the section registries of windows and the error that appears is the following one:
    " Application that it has generated the Photoshop.exe error, 11.0.0.0 version, timestamp 0x48d3882e, module that has generated the error nvoglv32.dll, version 8.17.12.58 96, timestamp 0x4c378f09, code exception 0xc0000005, offset error 0x000a85db, ID process 0xe14, date and hour of start of the application 0x01cb706c671eed10."
    I hope that someone can help me, thanks!

    Hi Mylenium! Thanks you...but in that way I can adjust my configuration? And which configuration?
    And when you say: "install a newer one", you refer to Photoshop? Because I have installed many times it.
    Excuse me for all these questions and for the disturbance!
