  • Error 6 - Transferring Photoshop CS4 to new macbook pro

I'm in the process of changing transferring everything over to my new Macbook Pro. I uninstalled photoshop CS4 on my old laptop but when I tried to install it on this laptop a box popped up saying I needed a certain Java application (can't remember which) which it searched for and downloaded for me but after it finished and I clicked to install CS4 it said that my computer needed to be restarted and if that didn't solve the problem to contact support and let them know I have an error 6.  Hoping someone can help me out. Thank you in advance!!

Try downloading a fresh Mac CS4 installler.
Use the CScleaner tool first before installing, Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
Download CS4 products  Have your serial number ready.

  • Transfer Photoshop CS4 to New Computer

I have Photoshop CS4 installed on an external hard drive which is how I ran it on my old computer. A copy is also installed on a laptop.  I have a new iMac and when I try to boot up Photoshop on it I get an error message saying licensing for this product has stopped working (error code 6), and to restart the computer.  I did and it doesn't help.  I forgot to unregister Photoshop before I took down the old computer and now it's too late.  Also, I can't find the orioginal disc.  What can I do?

    See:

  • Installing Photoshop CS4 on new Windows 8 machine

When I try to run Setup.exe to install CS4 on my new Windows 8 machine, an error message comes up "The Installer Database is corrupt.  Please contact Adobe Customer Service."  I have already installed Lightroom 4, and it worked correctly.  What should I do?

if you've had a cs4 (trial or otherwise) previously installed, run the cleaner (http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html) and restart your computer.
then install using compatibility mode and running as administrator.

  • Re-install photoshop cs4 to new computer

    Help

The problem is not with activation, because the Setup Error happens before I enter any serial number.
I am downloading from Adobe, using the download suggestions found in another thread.
I have the discs for CS2, but not CS4, as CS4 was bought as a downloadable upgrade.
It turns out that, if I ignore the setup error and dismiss that dialog, and enter my serial number (and that of the previous version, because it's an upgrade,) it goes ahead and installs, so the "error must quit" is apparently not quite accurate.

  • Replaced computer cant install Photoshop CS4 on new computer

Error says serial number not valid but I have double checked and it is my valid serial number.

you'll need to retrieve that cs3 number.
if your cs3 is installed in an accessible pc or you purchased or registered your cs3 with adobe, you can get more help.

  • I need to install photoshop cs4 extended from a disk to a new computer because my old computer had a hard drive crash. There is no serial number on the back of the case.  How can I obtain a usable serial number?

I have to install Photoshop CS4 extended on a new computer from a disk because my old computer had a hard drive crash.  There is no serial number on the back of the case.  How can I obtain a usable serial number?

    Find your serial number quickly
You can activate software without following up and registering it... at least that was the case in the past.  The serial number is normally located on the disc case or a box inside the main box.  If you did not purchase the disc from Adobe then it is possible you would have dealt with a redemption code, in which case it would have been up to you to keep a record of the serial number, especially if you did not follow up and register the software.

  • Problem with Photoshop CS4 after migration to new Mac

I just migrated from an old Mac to a new Macbook Pro running Mavericks. I'm having a problem with Photoshop CS4. Specifically, two things:
    1) When I open an image in Camera Raw, I get this error:
    Fatal error - missing component
    /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Version Cue CS4/Client/4.0.0/VersionCue.framework
    2) When I try to save anything, it tells me it can't because of a program error.
I've looked around for a solution. Apparently I had to install Java, but that hasn't solved the issue. A couple of people mentioned that reinstalling would work for a similar problem. My problem with that is that my disk is on the other side of the world and my new macbook doesn't have a disk drive anyway. So I logged into my Adobe account hoping to see a download link for software I have licences for, but there isn't one.
So my question is firstly, whether there is a simpler solution to the errors I am getting and, if not, if there's a solution to reinstalling Photoshop CS4 without the disk.
    Thanks!

Did you use Apple's migration tool?  It misses a lot of support files, especially in the Application Support directories.
You'll have to copy those files manually, or reinstall the app.

  • Photoshop CS4  shuts down only when creating new project.

I've had CS4 web premium since nov. 08 and everything worked fine until the most recent update from adobe.
I ONLY have this problem with Photoshop cs4: when creating a new project after selecting the aspects (name, width, hight, etc.) when you press ok it shuts down and no error is given as to why it shut down, it just does.
opening documents that had been created prior to the last update isn't a problem, I'm able to do everything Photoshop cs4 has to offer.
I can also open a file started in another program and edit them in PS CS4 (ie: fireworks , or AI).
but for some reason if I want to start a project in photoshop it just shuts down, never used to happen. any clues? any one else have a similar problem and know how to fix this?
    running on windows XP

I think you mean a new docuement - Photoshop doesn't have "projects".
Photoshop shouldn't "shut down" - there should be some message about a crash.
And the most likely causes at that point are OpenGL (try turning it off in prefs) and your default printer driver (try changing default printers).

  • Can't open new project or picture in Photoshop CS4 Extended

    Hello!
I was trying to work on some pictures today on my mac OS X Yosemite 10.10 in my Ps CS4, but when I tried to open a new project I got this error message "Fatal error - missing component /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Version Cue CS4/Client/4.0.0/VersionCue.framework". And indeed this file didn't exist on my computer. "The Adobe Version Cue CS4" folder didn't exist. I'v tried to find help on the web but haven't found anything. Is this a common problem or am I one of the few people who's got it. Does anyone have a solution to it? I could mention that the computer I'm working on now is not the original computer it was installed on. I've changed up for a regular macbook to a macbook pro and transferred the hardrive to the new one. May this be the reason?
    Best regards Ludvig G

Make absolutely certain you have the utterly useless Version Cue disabled in any place where it may appear in Photoshop's and Bridge's Preferences.  I haven't used CS4 for years, so I can't tell you the exact location.
Even better, don't even install Version Cue if you Uninstall and re-install CS4. Adobe has totally abandoned, and even when CS4 was new, the advice from Adobe engineer was not to use Version Cue at all.

  • Photoshop CS4 new document dialog issue...

    http://img50.imageshack.us/img50/7835/optionpu6.gif
Can this Photoshop CS4 new document dialog issue be improved? Info in the pic.

there's a feature request section at the top of the fourm allen. these kinds of posts should be done in there, so the programmers and engineers at adobe have them all in one place.

  • Can I use Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended on my brand new iMac? I had PS on my old Mac using the student licensing.

About four years ago, I purchased Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended while I was in undergrad. I downloaded it to my Mac. Since then, I've purchased a brand new iMac. Can I use this same software? I know it's been four years so the software is very updated, AND my new iMac does NOT have a cd drive. This may all be in vain. I'm just clueless! Thanks!

Emalexander89 you are welcome to install Photoshop CS4 on your new Mac.  You can download a fresh copy of the installation files at Download CS6 products.

  • Photoshop cs4 new system integration and network problems

    Hi there!
I am new to the forums, but I will just dive right into my issue rather than introducing myself:
I recently did a new hardware install (16 TB of clustered storage) at a mograph studio that are heavy users of Photoshop CS4, amongst other things.  Prior to the new storage, they primarily used an Xserve with attached RAID device, and CS3.  They are now experience high amounts of file corruption on PSDs from saving over the network.  I am, of course, aware the Adobe does not support network saving, due to the plethora of problems that may exist and the difficulty of recreating such varied environments.  I also know that neither Apple nor Adobe seem overtly concerned with this problem, although they may have fixed it with updates in CS3.  The users are aware of this fact, but continue to stress that they had "no problems what so ever on the xserve".
Basically, aside from the facts that are available in http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/406/kb406793.html and found on the forums, has ANYONE found an exceptable work around for these sort of issues.  Also, we tried the "save as" fix that was posted on these forums, and that did not work either.
Please, any help is extremely appreciated.  Thanks

If you have a working network and servers -- it can work. (and does for most of the servers inside Adobe, and those in my home)
But if anything (OS, network, server) malfunctions -- the process breaks in difficult to diagnose ways.
Photoshop is already following all the safe file save guidelines, testing for permissions, testing for space availability, etc.  But still things fail on networks.  And when we look into the failures, it's rarely the same cause and usually can't be worked around in any reasonable manner.
As application developers, we're frustrated too.  We know it can work.  We know it should work.  But some things are too far beyond our control.
Bottom line:  Finder and Explorer add a lot more error checking to server file copies, and do their copies in relatively simple patterns (unlike file saves that can involve random seeks and writes, depending on the format).  Saving locally and copying to the server afterward is going to be safer (adds at least 2 more layers of error checking).  The same goes for copying from the server then opening -- though we see far fewer errors reading from a server than writing to a server.
