Photoshop cs4 printing issue on HP 7680

Suddenly, my HP OfficeJet 7680 printing from PS CS4 (Vista) - prints only a portion of the photo. For instance, an 8.5 x 11 photo starts out fine, then starts losing pixels as the page progresses. The photo's pixels also shift as it goes.
Generic printing through Windows' photo printers works fine.
any thoughts? thanks!!
Dana

Believe it or not you might need to reinstall.
The HP drivers that were installed on my MacBook were the PowerPC version (as opposed to the Intel version) and I had problems. The issue was solved by re-installing the OS which in turn re-installed the print drivers.
I would try any other advice first, though. A reinstall is a pretty major solution to what could be a minor problem.

  • Photoshop CS4 printer driver

I installed the Photoshop CS4 printer driver (ipf6100) that I downloaded from Canon's website. When I chose export and choose the ipf6100 it gives me the error message
"Could not complete the export command because of a program error". How do I get the plugin working.

I am not understanding what your trying to do or the steps. When you install the plug in your saying there should be your printer listed in PS CS4 Export as a option to choose from? Do you have a 64 bit OS? If so my guess is that it is only a 32 bit plugin option and maybe you installed it in the 64 bit plug in folder? Or the opposite?

  • CS4 Printing Issue

I am running into situations where the following error message appears when I try to print out of Photoshop CS4:
Before you can perform printer-related tasks such as page setup or printing a document, you need to install a printer.
This seems to be document related as I can have multiple documents open and some will print fine on both of my printers while the one that generates this error will not print at all. I tried saving one of problematic documents, which was a .tiff, to both .psd and .jpg and it still got the error when I tried to print it.
I also tried printing the same document out of Lightroom, while it was open in Photoshop, and Lightroom printed it without any difficulty.
I looked around on the web and found plenty of posts related to this message, but most of the advise ran along the lines of reinstalling print drivers or Photoshop. Knowing that most of the time I do not get this error - it is only with certain documents - I can't see how any of these suggestions would help.
Can any one advise on this?

Both TIFF and JPEG retain the printer metadata. This doesn't solve the issue. You would have to save to a "dumb" format like BMP or TGA that by spec doesn't support any such metadata.

  • Photoshop CS4 Extended, issues with resolution and font sizes on Mac

I have Photoshop CS4 Extended, which worked fine on my old 15 inch Macbook Pro, I think it was 2011 and had high definition display.
I now have a new 15 inch 'late 2013' Macbook Pro with retina display (2880 x 1800), and OS 10.9.4
    I have 2 problems:
    1) Using photoshop now, the resolution is a lot worse than with my old computer, even though my screen is higher resolution.
For example, the images themselves are worse resolution on my display, far less crisp and more pixelated than any of my other programs. And even the windows such as 'save as...' screens are terribly pixelated also. Is there a way to fix this?
    2) When using the type tool, I cannot find how to change the size of the font. There used to be numbers which I could change, and also select the font type, both on the top menu bar always visible. Now there is not anymore. What there is there at the top, is what looks to be a bar on top of another bar. The top layer bar is on the left and reaches about one third of the way across the top, and I can drag it by its corner so it can extend more, but not less. It looks like there are things behind it which I cannot see, because it is over the top of them. Perhaps the text size and font options are stuck behind that. What can I do?
    Many thanks!
    Justin

Hi JJMack, you said "Seems like you want a low resolution display hook and external display to it." I do not know what that means. I did a google search for "low resolution display hook" and it came up with zero results. Also I do not have an external display, only my laptop.
Does anyone know what I can do to fix this issue? I would greatly appreciate any solution.
    Thank you!

  • Photoshop CS4 performance issue

    HI
we use App-V for almost all of our applications and we work with a local cache mode
as far as I know - the performance of a local application and the virtual application should be the same even if the package is big. a great example is Office 2010 App-V package which works the same as a local installation
We saw that there are some applications that run very slow comparing to a local installation on the same hardware
specifically - Adobe PhotoShop CS4 is a good example. when we load a 10MB picture and try to make a simple task like mark a selection - it takes forever for the application to response!
the weirdest think is that we tried to sequence the application both in App-V 4.6 SP3 and App-V 5.0 SP2 we got the same results. we tried the default things as reset the client's cache or allowing local interaction, com objects... etc.
I really have no idea what else we can do. as I wrote, larger applications work in our environment just fine, but there are   some that stuck us.  another application that works slower is NIS. I'm not sure if the performance issue is always from
the same reason but I'm trying to figure out what can we do to improve it
would love to get some ideas

    Hello,
    Since Microsoft made this claim (as stated by you), my recommendation to improve your situation still stands;
Open a ticket with Microsoft to understand the topic. My assumption would be that you could name the engineer who visited you a few years ago, and revisit the discussion you had with him and Microsoft directly.
(the statement of course goes against any independt benchmarking - such as
    Project VRC,
acknowledged facts by the Community and more..)
As stated already; If you have tested all that you described, I can't offer anymore suggestions apart from the above.

  • InDesign CS4 Printing issue

    Hi:
I use InDesign CS4 in my job as a church office manager. I print bulletins that are usually 3 letter-sized pages, landscape, 2-sided, and newsletters that are 2 11x17 pages, landscape, 2-sided. I'm working in Mac OS 10.5.8.
Until today, I was using a fairly old HP 8100dn printer. When I upgraded from CS3 to CS4 last summer, I found a strange thing: I couldn't print duplex on letter-sized paper from InDesign. No matter what settings I selected, the printing would not duplex. As a workaround, I had to export everything as a PDF and print from Acrobat, where the duplexing worked fine.
Weirdly, 11x17 duplex printing worked correctly from InDesign.
I never solved the problem, but when I posted this on the forum last summer, one responder said that it might have had something to do with the 8100's age and its PostScript Level 2 emulation.
Just today, my office got a new(er) printer, an HP 8150dn. This one has PostScript Level 3 emulation.
Precisely the same problem. Letter-sized won't duplex from ID; 11x17 will. Exporting letter-sized documents to PDF and printing from Acrobat is once again the workaround. It's not the worst thing in the world, but it is a bit of a hassle.
Does anyone have any sort of idea about why this is happening, or better, how it might be fixed?
    Thanks much,
    GT
PS: ID won't duplex when printing in portrait orientation on letter-sized paper, either.
Message was edited by: It doesn't work!

Well, I fixed it, I think… I googled "Printing issues in Mac OS," which led me to install Gutenprint 5.2.5 — whatever the heck that is — and suddenly duplex printing worked in both landscape and portrait on letter-sized paper.
Unfortunately, and yet not at all surprisingly, I now couldn't print to 11x17 at all. No matter what I did, the printer used Tray 2 (letter), or told me to put custom paper in Tray 1.
So, as a last-ditch attempt to resolve this before I jumped off the roof, I reset the printer to its factory defaults and deleted all traces of it from Mac OS's Printer and Fax window.
Then I created one new printer called "8150 (Gutenprint)" using the Gutenprint driver, and one called "8150 (11x17)" using the default HP driver, both using the same IP address. Lo and behold, when I select the one, I can print duplexed on letter size, and when I select the other, I can do the same on 11x17.
I don't know if this is the sort of thing that a real tech-head would condone, but it finally seems to work. Since I'd never be printing to both printers simultaneously, I figure I can live with this.
If anyone cares to explain to me in layman's terms what Gutenprint is all about, I'd love to be educated…

  • Photoshop CS4 printer selection failure

Wondering if anyone might know what's happening here....
Using Photoshop CS4, Windows 7 SP1, Novell Network Printers.
    There are 2 problems:
    1) In the print dialog box, no matter what printer is selected, the page setup button has settings for a different printer.
    2) After clicking print on the print dialog box, the system print dialog box has the wrong printer selected. The selected printer is random depending on what printers are installed. It is not the default printer necessarily.

  • Photoshop CS4 printing everything in dots???

My Photoshop CS4 has been running fine and then this past week I printed a document I created and the whole thing came out as a series of small dots...including the fonts.  Also, I tried printing various high resolution stock photos that have printed fine from Photoshop in the past, and they all came out dotted too.
The document I created was 8.5 x 11, 300 dpi, CMYK.  In order to determine if the problem was my printer, I saved the file as a .jpg and opened it in Windows Picture & Fax Viewer.  I printed the document from that program and I got a great print...no dots!  So it seems it has something to do with Photoshop and I am clueless.  I haven't changed any of the prefs or settings, so I'm not sure what is going on.
Does anyone know what might be happening?   I appreciate any wisdom or insight, as I have none!

From your Photoshop Print dialog (i.e., the window that opens when you choose File - Print), press the Print Settings button.
Ensure all your printer settings, including those in Advanced sections, are set to your preferences.  Chances are something's set to "Draft" mode or to a minimal dot pitch.
You don't need to actually print something to get these settings to "stick".  Just press the Done button.

  • I need help with Photoshop CS4 reactivation issue

It may be more than just an activation issue.  CS4 has always worked beautifully on my iMac until yesterday when it failed to launch.  I tried everything and finally deactivated it, reinstalled it and it still won't launch.  I do not have Photoshop CS4 on any other computer.  I've been all over the web and ran into many people with the same problem.  Adobe won't help resolve CS4 issues so I'm stuck.  HELP!!

Does launching it give you an error code?
Try the procedures in this help document.

  • InDesign CS4 and PhotoShop CS4 Integration issue.

When working in inDesign CS4 Mac, I often click on a image to edit it in photoshop CS4 via the edit button in the InDesign links pallet That brings up the file in PhotoShop so that I can make my adjustments. When trying to save the photo in Photoshop the file will note save.
I get the pop up message that the file is in use. So I have to close the InDesign file in order to save the photo, re open inDesign to re-link the image. Very frustrating when working with a customer.... Any one else having this issue? or am I just lucky.
mac pro 2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon with 10 Gigs ram Running Mac OS X 10.5.6

This could be a Leopard thing as I don't have that problem using those apps in Tiger.
You may also need to use Diskwarrior to fix your directory.

  • Photoshop CS4 : Printer name too long problem

    hi,
we have a special problem only in Photoshop CS4 when we want to print here.
When students wants to print their document on one of our printer, Photoshop is not keeping the printer selected correctly.
When we go in File --> Print...
The page "Imprimer" open and I select the printer : RN-CORRIDOR-D306-COULEUR(PS)
the (PS) is for the PostScript Driver.
then if we click on "Mise en page" (Page Setup) you see the name of the printer is now : RN-CORRIDOR-D306-COULEUR
this printer is the one with PCL driver.
I have these 2 printers installed on my computer. If I remove the PCL one, everything works correctly.
I have made some testing and I found that if the printer has more thant 30 character for the name identical with another one, it will switch to the printer above in the list in photoshop.
the name of these printers are in fact : \\sprint1\RN-CORRIDOR-D306-COULEUR and \\sprint1\RN-CORRIDOR-D306-COULEUR(PS)
and they appear like this in the listing :
    \\sprint1\RN-CORRIDOR-D306-COULEUR
    \\sprint1\RN-CORRIDOR-D306-COULEUR(PS)
So if I choose the PCL one, everything works fine, but if I choose the PostScript one, it will switch on the PCL driver. (it is impossible to print on the PS)
    Another test I made :
Create 2 printer locally on my computer with 2 names with 30 character identical and 1 different at the end, 2 completely different driver (HP 4050PCL and Lexmark OptraS1650PCL) on 2 different ports: same results, it swith to the first printer in the listing.
As I said, this is the only application that have this problem. Any other Adobe application or MS Office is working for now 3 years with these printers with more than 30 character in the name. And we can't change the name as they are installed on over 100 computers.
Did someone ever saw this ?
    Thanks
    Benoit

these printer are installed on our lab computer with more than 100 softwares installed.
the only application having this problem is Photoshop CS4.
Illustrator CS4 for exemple is correct, last version of Acrobat Pro too.
    Photoshop CS3 was ok before...

  • Photoshop CS4 Printer Controls will not center images

I have two Epson Printers-The Stylus Pro 4000 and the Stylus Photo 1280, both several years old.  I have downloaded and installed the most recent drivers for each.  When printing from CS4 to either printer, and using the "center image" choice, I cannot get the print to be centered with equal margins on opposing sides.  I have read various articles on how to do this, but nothing seems to work.  Any suggestions?

Thank you Jeff for your response.  I have tried the approach of the
custom paper size, but it does not seem to work right on my
configuration.  I will keep trying.  Do any of your books deal with
another problem which i am having relative to my switch from PC
Windows XP to OSX relative to a concurrent switch from CS3 to CS4.
The color ICC printer profiles for my Epson 4000 have not been
recognized by CS4 printer dialog box, though Lightroom 2 does find
them.  They still exist in a file in the Library.  I am not sure
whether the OSX operating system and CS4 require a different format
for the profiles  (ie. some connection with the Colorsync utiltity?)
In any event, I note your new book on CS4 is out.  Would that deal
    with this issue?

  • OS Yosemite/Photoshop CS4/Printer Problem

I recently upgraded to OS 10.10, Yosemite. I can no longer get accurate colors printed for photos from Photoshop. I have Photoshop CS4 and I use an Epson Stylus Photo R2400 printer. I am able to use Photoshop for everything but printing accurately. I downloaded all recommended drivers for the printer, reloaded profiles for the printer and even tried a trial of Photoshop CC. Nothing resolves the problem. My prints look kind of solarized. Black and white photos have green areas where there should be black. Please help.

Yosemite introduced a number of serious bugs that Apple has not fixed yet.
Some Yosemite users have been advised to downgrade to Mavericks.

  • Photoshop CS4 install issues

I have a computer I just rebuilt with a new board, processor and memory.  I installed a clean copy of Windows Vista Business on a freshly formatted 300 gig hardrive.  I previously had purchased a download copy of Photoshop CS4.  I downloaded my software and when it began to extract the files it went about a third of the way and then I got an error message.
"A problem occurred while extracting some files.  Check available space on your computer and the write privileges on the destination folder."
The drive has 252 GB free and I am in an Administrative account.  I have redownloaded the software.  Emptied my temp files and checked the disc for errors.  I am stumped.  The folder it is extracting to is on my Desktop.  Before attempting to extract for the 3rd time I deleted folder.  Anyone have any ideas.

But have you configured it appropriately? Extraction errors usually point to either to insufficient temporary space in your user temp directory or a missing component required by the installer, which could be a part of MSInstaller itself or an auxiliary component such as .NET runtimes or MSVC DLLs...

  • Photoshop CS4 Fullscreen Issues

    Photoshop CS4 11.0.1
    Windows 7 x32
    NVIDIA driver 258.96 [GEFORCE 8800GT]
Hello, since a few new versions of the nVidia Drivers I can't use OpenGL in Fullscreen. Because the menus aren't useable, hidden, and don't show up when I hit the button on my pen. The cursor say me anyway they are there, but I can't see and access them. It seems they lay behind the image.
Switching OpenGL of solve the problem, but I can't work without.
Configuring the Drivers or use nHancer don't solve it.
So, anyone know a tweak for it?

Well, you could uninstall your video drivers and drop back to an older version...  I've not gone looking on the nVidia site - do they provide older versions?  I know ATI does.
And there is the possibility of using Photoshop windowed.  That's how I always use it (but to be fair I have a lot of screen space).
It's sad how the video card makers care 99.44% about video games and give serious computer users so little attention.  Sigh.
