  • Photoshop CS4 stopped launching, no error message. Mac os 10.5.8 on PPC

    Hi all,
I´m using Photoshop CS4 on this computer (Powerbook G4 PPC with OS 10.5.8, 10 GB HD free, 1.5 Gb Ram) without problems since 3 years ago.
2 days ago it stopped suddently working. It just doesn´t launch, without error message. On that days I was using an external USB hard disk that crashed...
Bridge runs ok but when I try to run Camera Raw, I get the message  "Camera Raw editing is not enabled. Camera Raw editing requires that a qualifying product has been launched at least once to enable this feature".
I already re-installed photoshop, uninstalled it and reinstalled, I tried also "App cleaner" and also I tried deleting all folders related to photoshop CS4 and reinstalling. I also repared disk permissions. I tried to use the Adobe CC Cleaner Tool but unfortunatly it doesn´t run on this machine.
Next step would be to format the machine, but I don´t want to do it unless it´s strictly necessary..
    Any other ideas?
    Thanks in advance!

Alas, Photoshop 7.x is not supported in Leopard (nor in Snow Leopard)—as far as I know.
What's worse, Photoshop 7.x is out of the upgrade path.

Have you installed any new input device? Maybe a Wacom tablet or something?
And are you running PS CS4 as 32 or 64 bit?

  • Windows Update Causing CS6 Photoshop x64 to crash at "Measuring Memory"

    Hello,
This started on the 28th when we received a batch of Windows updates on our machines. The next day the eight users who have this installed are no longer able to open the 64 bit version of Photoshop. Each time it will get to "Measuring Memory" and then crash with no events in the Event Viewer. I have tried to remove the Windows updates manually with no luck. The only way to get it back to working is to do a System Restore. When doing some troubleshooting I discovered that if I use log in on the workstation that is crashing with my account then Photoshop 64 bit will open for me and get past the measuring memory. So I tried to figure out what relationship photoshop has with the users account and all I found was the users "Settings/Preferences". I had the user log back in and went to the location of that file and removed the 64 bit version. I then opened Photoshop back up and it created a new file but still crashed on measuring memory.
If you have other suggestions or knowledge of what else is tied to the users account. I should also mention that the 32 bit version works fine on the machine for all the users.
    Thank you for your help.

    Bump. Still looking for help.
I have tried to run all Windows updates and then uninstall and re install Adobe Photoshop both 32-bit and 64-bit. The system still crashes. In the event viewer I am getting this:
Faulting application name: Photoshop.exe, version: 13.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x4f61c045

  • Photoshop CS4 stopped opening in Admin account but fine in all others

    Hello,
I have encountered a bit of an issue. i have used my CS4 photoshop for years now on my original administrator account which is the account I installed it on but now when i try to open it I get the splash screen and it starts to load and then where it should fully open it just goes away?? I can log in to any other account on my computer and it opens just fine. Anyone have any ideas as it is a bit annoying to have to sign out go to another user account edit then log out and then back in to my normal admin account..Thanks

I have read accounts from others who have said that disabling the ScriptingSupport.8li plug-in (e.g., by renaming it ~ScriptingSupport.8li) has restored operation for them when they were seeing something similar to this.
If you try it and it doesn't work, don't forget to restore it to its former name.
You'll find it in one of these places:
    32 bit OS:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4\Plug-ins\Extensions\ScriptingSupport.8li
    64 bit OS:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4\Plug-ins\Extensions\ScriptingSupport.8li
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4 (64 Bit)\Plug-ins\Extensions\ScriptingSupport.8li

  • Photoshop CS4 stopped reading CR2 files.  Update failed.

My Photoshop CS4 quit reading CR2 files from my Canon EOS 5D Mark II.  Photoshop update with new raw version failed.  Please advise.
    And many thanks!

This screen shot shows the correct path to the appropriate folder in CS4 on the Mac, which is not called "ACR folder" (that must be a Windows thing).
The version of ACR in the image is older (5.2, obsolete by now), because it's a screen shot from many moons ago.
The important thing is to start the path in the ROOT LEVEL Library, not your username or home Library:

  • Premiere pro CS4 stops loading at Loading Windows media (splash screen)

I have 4.2.1 and for some reason when i load the program it stops at Loading Windows media (splash screen).  I cant edit anything if it wont open and I have a project to finish.. Can some one help me? This is on Vista Ultimate.  I have 12g of ram, a i7 950 (3.06Ghz)

After an uninstall, you also need to run the clean script 2-3 times, rebooting between runs, to be sure all remnants are removed from the Registry

When you uninstall, check "remove settings", then run the CS cleaner tool.
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
    Then reinstall

  • Photoshop CS4 Consumes All My Memory

I have 31 free gigabytes of space on my MacBook and no other applications open. When I open up a file file on Photoshop CS4 (81MB) my computer's memory drops from 31 gigs to less than 1 gig. When I try to move a layer in Photoshop, I get an error that says my Scratch Disk is full, and soon thereafter, an error message that my Startup Disk is full. This has never happened before. What is going on? I can edit this file any longer.

Remember that the size of the file on disk is compressed, and the data in memory may be much larger.
It sounds like that file expands to something over 30 gig, and you don't have enough disk space available to edit that file.
Photoshop will allocate RAM up to the limit you set in preferences, as needed for the images you are editing. And Photoshop will allocate scratch disk space as needed for the images (which can exceed the amount in RAM, by a lot).
And be careful, because MacOS gets really flakey when the startup disk runs out of space.

  • CS4 stopped working in Vista 64 (both 32 bit and 64 bit)

Photoshop CS4, both 32 bit and 64 bit have been working great until after the Adobe update process loaded 11.0.1. When I try to start either the 32 bit or the 64 bit version of CS 4, I get the opening screen and then an error message that says, ..."Photoshop CS4 stopped working", and it closes the application.  CS 3 still works fine.  CS4 Bridge works fine.  I have made no changes to PS CS4. Any ideas?

In the event of a situation where the application is unavailable for de-activation, you need to install the program again and, when prompted for activation, call the special (not customer support) number on the screen.
I have never had to try this, but that information has been posted several times.

  • CS6 Freezes during startup at Measuring Memory

I am new to this forum, so not sure where to post this.
When I click on the icon to start Photoshop CS6, it freezes at "Measuring Memory".
I tried to uninstall Photoshop but the uninstall will not work.  I tried to reinstall with the disk but Windows will not start the setup file.
I also ran scans on viruses and it turned up negative.
Does Photoshop have a repair program?
    From the PC properties:
    Windows 8.1
    Toshiba

  • Unable to Launch Photoshop CS4

I started having this problem 3 days ago. Suddenly one morning Photoshop CS4 stopped launching. The bad part is, there is no error message...nothing...it just won't launch. Other programs, including Bridge CS4 works fine, just Photoshop. I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium, this is a Dell XPS computer with 8GB of RAM. Please Help!

When something works one day, but not the next, then something has changed.
It could be, as Curt mentions, hardware additions, software additions, or as simple as adding fonts, where one is bad, or corrupted.
The task is to identify what has changed.
I would create a System Restore Point (if you are on a PC), for today. Then, boot to Safe Mode, and choose to Restore System. Pick a System Restore Point from when things DID work. Reboot on the prompt, and test. If PS now works, you still need to find out what changed. Along with the above, it could be as simple as an OS update, or hot-fixed, that hosed your video driver.
In that case, go to the mfgr's. Web site (Do NOT let the OS, or any utility, tell you if have the latest version - go directly to the mfgr's. Driver Download page - plug in your card model and your OS, download the latest driver and install it. Read the installation instructions, as those can change, driver version to version.). A hosed video driver can hang PS, and might not generate any error messages.
If that does NOT help, try one more time, going back with the System Restore Point chosen.
At the worst, you will have only lost a few minutes, as you created that new System Restore Point for today.
If you have a Mac, I think that there is a utility, with a name like Time Machine, that does about the same thing.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Photoshop CS4 in Comms Suite 2 has stopped working when loading

I wonder if someone can help me as I am not technical. I have a copy of Adobe Communication Suite 2 (this is basically CS4 version). I've installed this and every piece of it will load except for Photoshop (the bit I really want and need today!). I get an error message which says Adobe Photoshop has stopped working. Not sure what to do and I've loaded and unloaded this several times and also used some download from Adobe which is supposed to take away install problems but that had no effect!
Any help would be appreciated if anyone knows anything about it.
PS I have tried to load in Administrator mode and I get the same error message.

You'll get more help in the Photoshop forum. Try there with full details.

  • Photoshop CS6 Extended Slow Load ("Measuring Memory...")

    Hi guys!
Sorry English is not my native language.
I am run Photoshop CS6 Extended 64-bit (from design premium) on Windows 7, 64-bit with 8GB RAM.
When I first start PS, it looks like it freeze on the text "Measuring Memory". If I wait for about 30 seconds, it will eventually load and everything works fine. No issues with Save for Web or anything.
I have read the other threads on this and tried all of these solutions:
Checked my ram in memtest (15 passes, no error)
    Trash preferences and open again
    Un-install and re-install (tried twice)
Updated PS to latest with Adobe Update
    Reboot machine
This happen when I first run Windows, so lack of RAM is not the issue. I have no printers, other hard drive, or remote network drive attached to machine. Scratched disk is set to the boot disk (C:\)
If it help, Illustrator CS6 and InDesign CS6 load normally.
Do you have any suggestions to fix this? Thank you!
    Richard Montouchet

Congratulations on having such a huge amount of memory that it takes 30 seconds to measure it all!    Just kidding - sorry.
You've done all the things a reasonable person would do...  Some other things I might suggest are:
    1.  Check to ensure your display driver is up to date - go to the web site of the maker of your video card, not Microsoft.
    2.  Try disabling the Use Graphics Processor setting in Edit - Preferences - Performance, and restart Photoshop.
    3.  Remove any 3rd party plug-ins (reinstall won't remove plug-ins, so I thought I'd mention it).
    4.  Check to see if you have the same behavior with the 32 bit Photoshop as the 64 bit Photoshop.
