Photoshop CS4 to CS6 upgrade

I ordered the Photoshop CS4 to CS6 package but the box that came has a sticker on it saying that I have to input a CS5 serial number. Do I have the wrong box or can I use this to upgrade my PS CS4?

Under Adobe's new "one version back" upgrade policy, only CS5 users can upgrade to CS6. Hence the sticker, I'm guessing.
However, when CS6 shipped, Adobe granted special dispensation to CS3 and CS4 users who can upgrade to CS6 - but only until 31 Dec 2012.

Without seeing the box and the sticker, it's hard to be definitve but my guess is that you have the correct box and you can upgrade to CS6 using that box.

Re installing Photoshop CS4 on an upgraded computer and it will not accept the serial number. Unable to deactivate Photoshop before upgrading computer due to hardware failure. Note that Adobe Photoshop CS4 New Install Bundle package consists of the new Photoshop CS4 Upgrade bundled together with the qualifying product, in this case an Adobe Photoshop CS2 License. I have tried both the CS2 and CS4 Serial numbers and both have not worked.

  • I can't figure out how to upgrade from Photoshop CS4 to CS6.

Apparently CS4 refuses to read Canon 6D RAW files so I need to upgrade.
I am using a Mac running OSX 10.9.1 Mavericks.
How do I go about upgrading from CS4 to CS6?? I can't seem to find a link that allows me to do this.

nope... this is a known issue for users. Hopefully will be resolved soon (not holding my breath though). Some people have suggested resetting pram, uninstalling flash, quitting Safari, updating java, installing third party mouse driver software etc... but for me nothing has worked yet.
I have 2 monitors and this happens quite a lot, but ONLY on my iMac monitor. If i move the mouse cursor to my second screen it's visible there, move it back to my iMac screen and it disappears.
My workaround is to hover over the dock to claim my cursor back, but that is really just an annoying thing to do every 5 mins.
I am convinced this is a OSX issue but the two companies are just pointing fingers which will not result in any fix any time soon.
Thinking about selling my two Apple machines because of this bug.

  • Is there an upgrade from Photoshop CS4 to CS6.

I would like to upgrade from CS4 to CS 6, but as a retired amature photographer I am not willing to pay 19.99 a month for the cloud or the price for a purchase.  The only upgrade price I can find is from CS5

It is true. But there is no "price lock" guarantee past one year.
    http://blogs.adobe.com/creativelayer/introducing-the-photoshop-photography-program/
    From Adobe:
To be clear, $9.99 is not an introductory price. It is the price for those of you who sign up by December 31, 2013.
    edit:
Reading more of the fine print, I see that this offer only applies to owners of commercial license of stand-alone PS CS3 or higher. If you own Photoshop  as part of a Creative Suite or an academic version, you are SOL.
Bad Adobe, bad. You almost had me  signing up to your Cloud....

  • CS4 to CS6 upgrade?

I don't think there's anything that can be done at this point, but I figured I'd post anyway since calling in didn't help.
I bought CS4 2 years ago after considering it for a while because I had heard it was the best imaging program and I wanted to finally try it, even though I'm only a hobbyist. I ended up really loving it and using it a lot. Back in February, I saw a lot of articles online talking about how CS6 was coming out in a few months, how it was a really big improvement over 5, and really worth switching over. So I started thinking about upgrading. One of the articles I saw explained how if you buy the newest version of Photoshop shortly before the next version comes out, you can then upgrade to the current version for free. Although I certainly didn't need CS5 right away because CS6 was supposed to come out in a few months, thought it might be interesting to see the differences between it and CS6 (when it finally came out) and I was curious about the content aware scale tool. So I went to the Adobe website, to find out more about the "complimentary upgrade", as it was phrased on the Adobe website. The  page on adobe.com explained how it worked, but it didn't have any information on CS6, dates, or how close to the release you had to be to qualify- It said you should contact customer service with your registration number and they could tell you.
So I logged onto the Customer Service/ Sales chat on Adobe.com so I could ask. I told the support agent that I had CS4, was interested in upgrading to CS6 which was coming out soon, and that I wanted to know more about how the complimentary upgrade worked, and if it was in effect yet because the Adobe website didn't have any information. The Adobe agent told me that if I upgraded now, I would be eligible for the complimentary upgrade when CS6 was released, and that in fact, it would be better for me to upgrade now instead of waiting, because they currently had a promotion where there was a 20% discount on upgrading, and that if I waited until CS6 came out I would have to pay more for an upgrade. I asked them straight out if I should upgrade at that time, and they said yes. So I thanked the customer service person, and went ahead and bought an upgrade package the next day.
A few weeks later, I went onto Adobe.com to see if there was any new information on CS6, since I had seen even more articles and was really excited. I found out at that point that the customer service agent lied to me, and that the upgrade I bought on March 1st was not eligible for an upgrade to CS6 unless I paid another $200 on top of the $150 I paid a few weeks before. And no, I didn't screencap the chat, which apparently I was supposed to- why would I have? It never even crossed my mind that a Adobe employee would flat out lie to me, which I guess what a stupid assumption on my part. But there is absolutely no logical reason I would have chosen to upgrade to CS5 2 months before CS6 would be out instead of just waiting, unless that Adobe sales representative had told me to not to worry, that I was eligible for a complimentary upgrade to CS6 and to go ahead and upgrade now with this "special discount". Everybody knew that it was coming, and there was even an announcement assuring people that you would still be able to upgrade straight to 6 even if you didn't have CS5 yet. I understand that a sales agent job is to make you buy the product, but I think it's horrible and unprofessional to lie to people to make a sale. I also wonder how many other customers were tricked like me in the hopes of making more money.
When I called in customer service, they repeatedly asked for "proof", of my conversation which of course they didn't have, since I had assumed the chat agents were honest and wouldn't give out false information. The very understanding customer service person then told me they would look into it and call me back. A day later, I got a robo "do not reply" email telling me that my request had been rejected, but thanks and have a nice day. Great.
I mean, I do understand that my business isn't that important because I'm just a hobbyist and not a company buying like 100 licenses, but in the past two years I've spent basically the same amount of money on the program which as I paid for my computer. Other than my computer, this program is basically the most expensive thing I own. I justified buying it to myself because I really enjoy photo editing and making graphics and art and it's the "professional", top of the line program, but after this I'm wondering why, if I'm not a professional making money off of graphic design, while I should be giving a ton of money to a company that's not even going to give me good customer service for this purchase. Never mind this new Cloud service- why on earth would I give Adobe money every single month, when I gave them money once and they messed it up?
There's nothing I can do at this point, right, now that I've called customer service and posted here? (Except stop buying Adobe products, which I already plan to do.)

Those guys don't "lie", sometimes they simply are not properly briefed. Most of them are, after all, just some poor saps in India. The rest is neither here nor there - this is a user forum and if you have any issues with sales, then we can't help you. I personally understand your frustrations, but the earliest official announcement for the "free" CS6 I remember was some time in April, so that tracks. Other than that the really important question becomes, whether you actually do need CS6. Even as a professional to me this many times is a thing of "would be nice, but it's not a must have" for many of the features, so unless you have your eyes on a specific feature, it's probably better to not get too crazy over the matetr and instead rationalyl figure out a plan if and when you may upgrade to CS6 or whatever at a later point...

  • Are the web features in Photoshop CS4 worth the upgrade?

I'm not a high-end user of Photoshop, but will soon start using it to create graphics to be plugged into Portal. I'll be purchasing the web design package (I'll need Dreamweaver and Flash in the not-too-distant future), and am wondering if there are enough improvements to Photoshop's web features to justify going with the Premium edition.
Also, for casual users of Illustrator -- do you think CS4 is worth the upgrade? Having multiple artboards sounds tempting, but is there more?
    Thanks!

  • Cursor disappearing using Photoshop CS4, CS5, CS6

My cursor started dissappearing in Photoshop on not 1 but 2 iMacs right after I installed Mountain Lion. As I am having this issue on 2 machines running 2 different versions of Photoshop and the fact it started happening the minute after I installed Mountain Lion. I have contacted both Adobe and Apple people. Adobe has been great responding to all of the Digital Design professionals that rely on these products to make a living. I have no doubt Adobe has done everything they can just for the simple fact that they are still talking to people about this on a discussion group that I started on Adobe's website 4 months ago. Apple's support people on the other hand are no longer acknowledging my emails regarding this very serious flaw in the new OS code. Apple has the money, resources and people to fix this issue. An issue that in my opinion, should have never happened.

nope... this is a known issue for users. Hopefully will be resolved soon (not holding my breath though). Some people have suggested resetting pram, uninstalling flash, quitting Safari, updating java, installing third party mouse driver software etc... but for me nothing has worked yet.

  • If I upgrade to Mountain Lion on my iMac will I be able to open my Photoshop CS4 in order to resize

If I upgrade to Mountain Lion on my iMac will I be able to opwn my Photoshop CS4 in order to resize and adjust RGB of photos of my artwork? I use the Photoshop for very little else at this point in time.
    Thank you

    Hi Veraforvictory,
There are no known issues affecting compatability with OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion) and Photoshop CS4. As always, make sure you back up your hard drive before you update your operating system, but there should be no problem using Photoshop CS4 when you upgrade!

  • Photoshop cs4 bridge, getting not enough storage message.

I have a computer that the motherboard died a couple of weeks ago. The motherboard and processor have been replaced as well as upgrading the ram from 4 gb to 12. We were able to use the old hard drive with no problems, maybe, just booted it up yesterday and am still working things out. Photoshop cs4 was installed on the computer and it seems to be working fine, except that I'm getting "not enough storage" messages when I try to do things I was able to do before the colapse. One thing I've noticed is that in the 32 bit version of Photoshop preferences it shows around 3 gb of ram available while the 64 bit version shows the full 12gb. Is this typical? and if not why would it be showing up this way?  I'm not sure that has anything to do with the problems with bridge it is a stand alone program now. Anyway, does anyone have any idea what could be the problem with this? Would uninstalling and re-installing the programs help?
Windows 7 Home Premium  64 bit system
    12 GB RAM
I'm not sure what else would be needed about the computer, let me know if there is anything else.
    Thanks for any help,
    Linda

Is the "not enough storage" error message showing up in Bridge or Photoshop? I ask that because it seems to be a Bridge error message and the Bridge forum could better handle that.
If Photoshop is giving you this message, check your Preferences > Performance and see that the ram allocated is not more than 65-70% of total and look at your scratch disk allocation in that section as well.
I would also consider resetting Photoshop's preferences. Sometimes that clears up problems, and of course be sure you install the latest CS4 updates.
I'm assuming you have to use 32 bit Photoshop CS4 (example32 bit third party plugins).  If not use 64 bit CS4 and see if that works.
I'd heed the upgrade advice as well. After December, CS4 to CS6 upgrade price will increase from $200 to $700.

  • Help needed to get my free CS6 upgrade

Hi fellow Photoshop users, I like others made the forced late 2011 CS4 to CS5 upgrade. Now I have seen where Adobe revised their policy about upgrading qualifications. I feel that I am warranted a free upgrade to CS6 because I was informed it was manditory at the time. Please reply back with stratgey to get Adobe to comply. I have opened support cases only to have Adobe close the cases without any reason or information. Thanks!

I am really disappointed in how Adobe handled the upgrades for the CS6 Photoshop. It is all really unfair... and I do really feel "coerced"
I was told 5 weeks or so ago that I could not upgrade from CS4 to CS6  without upgrading first to CS5.  NOT in 2011... just a few weeks ago.
I knew I wanted CS6 as I had purchased the CS4 Masters Collection a couple of years back.(for thousands of dollars)
So...in order to upgrade I purchased a legal boxed CS5 upgrade disc on Amazon for $179.  But when I tried to upgrade I it would not take because I was upgrading from a Collection. I hadn't realized  that I would need to purchase a CS5 Collection upgrade. I hardly ever used ANY of the other programs outside of Dreamweaver and I really didn't need any Dreamweaver updates for what I do. But I went ahead and bought a smaller Collection CS5 upgrade that included both Photoshop and Dreamweaver as well as a couple of other programs that I will probably never even open, for $519.00!!!
Luckily I knew a friend who was also using CS4 and he said he would buy the Photoshop CS5 upgrade from me for $150.  I wasn't happy to lose the $29 plus shipping but such is life. A week later, my friend called and said he hadn't installed the upgrade and that NOW...because of a uproar among Photoshop CS4 users, Adobe was allowing a straight CS4 to CS6 upgrade and that he would return my disc to me. :-(
So now I have spent some $698 dollars and I still only have a trial version of CS6 and and a legal CS4>CS5 upgrade disc that nobody wants or needs anymore.
Today my CS6 Trial expired. I do like it and I want it, but I have already put out a considerable sum of money trying to get it.  I have been putting off dealing with this because it is surely a total PIA... I really feel I have been ripped-off on this.
Now it looks like I am supposed to put out another $199 to upgrade my CS5 to CS6... So ultimately I would be paying $897 to upgrade to Photoshop CS6... the ONLY program I really wanted to upgrade to begin with. (actually probably more because they will probably want me to freaking upgrade to a CS6 Collection update for another outrageous amount... )
I am surprised that Adobe would treat long time customers so poorly... as Mylenium suggest they should... and Sidney Brock says has occurred.

  • Photoshop CS4 upgrade to CS6 Exstended?

i was wondering if photoshop cs4 is enough to up grade to photoshop cs6 exstended or do i have to have cs5 or cs6?

    Hi AoiroKibou55,
I was looking at the upgrade options here: https://www.adobe.com/products/catalog/cs6._sl_id-contentfilter_sl_catalog_sl_software_sl_ creativesuite6.html?start=10
It looks like upgrading requires at least Photoshop CS5.

  • Hi there, i want to buy a registered version of PS CS4 (and an Upgrade to CS6)from a private Person...is there any Possibility to check if the Adobe ID,Licence,User is a real person...or a fake before buying it? Thanks for helping!

    Hi,
just got an offer from a private Person, who owns a boxed Version of Photoshop CS4 (DVD) and an Upgrade from CS4 to CS6....he told me that he can transfer the current license to me... now there's one important question for me...
Is there any possibility to check his Adobe-ID (which he already told me) if it's the same adress, name, etc. as he told me...
or if there is an registered Version of PS CS4 owned by this Adobe-ID?
Just like to check if he's a real person or a fake...don't want to buy any stolen or illegal software...or beeing punked after paying the money...
Thank you very much for helping me! :-)
    Chriss

Old versions of Photoshop are not marketed by Adobe. Only CS5 can be upgraded to CS6.  There are many scams on the web if you find a cheap copy of Photoshop out there its most likely a scam... Be careful.....

  • I have Creative Suite 3 Master Collection. Am trying to install Photoshop CS4 upgrade. It will not accept any of the serial numbers from my Creative Suite 3 Master Collection. The upgrade is for Photoshop CS 4 only

Need help installing Photoshop CS4 upgrade. I have Adobe Creative Suite 3 Master Collection installed on my computer. When trying to install Photoshop CS 4 upgrade. I am ask for serial number of Photoshop CW, CS2, & CS3 I put in the serial number from my Creative Suite 3 Master Collection. None of which are accepted. What do I need to do to accomplish upgrade?

When you purchase a Creative Suite collection, you can't run an upgrade on an individual product within the Suite. You have to upgrade the entire collection.
You could purchase a copy of Photoshop CS6, or a subscription to Photoshop which can be as little as $9.99 with the Photography plan to the Creative Suite.
Adobe no longer sells upgrades to CS3 or CS4.
