Photoshop CS4 Trial  installation asking for disc again and again

I had to uninstall my Creative Suite CS3 because of licensing problems. Then I could not reinstall it on Vista Home Premium SP2 ("unsupported OS").
Now, as long as I am waiting for Adobe to respond to my case, I tried to install CS4 Trial versions of PS and DW, so I can go on working.
But:
Whether I install them from a HDD or from a CD/DVD, it always asks me to insert the disc again into the related drive. Of course it is already in - installation has to be aborted.
I am very hesitant to purchase the CS4 upgrade, since it seems that after their huge hassle with the CS3 suite they still haven't their product installation problems fixed.
Anybody had fixed this?
Thanks
Matt

Hi dec9 and the_wine_snob,
Have tried all these too, and went a bit further with copying the folder to the desktop, but it also ended with a fatal.
Since the origin of my trouble is the endless hassle with my CS3 Suite installation, I ordered a CS4 Premium Web Trial and see if that installs.
Don't want to risk paying for another uninstallable product.
Before I install that, I will:
- uninstall all Adobe products
- including all flash versions that might still be lingering around
- run the CS3 cleaner
- clean and defrag the drive
- brush my teeth
-... anything else?
Thanks
Matt

It depends on the original format and the destination format of the file.
PS: You should upgrade to version 11.0.1

That's where I would begin, too, with
    Repair Disk
Insert Installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger) and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.TStatus of HDD at the bottom of right panel, and report if it saysanything but Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
If DU reports errors it cannot repair you will need touse autility like TechTool Pro,Drive Geniusor DiskWarrior
First we need to determine if the issue you are experiencing with the computer is software or hardware based. Once we have gotten things sorted out there should be time enough to make you decision about keeping or returning it.

  • CS3 No Longer Installs - Asks for Disc

I have CS3 (Master Collection) installed on a Win 7 Home Premium machine.  I didn't originally install Dreamweaver and am now trying to go back and do so.  Setup runs like normal and asks me which components to add and which to reinstall.  After verifying the adds/reinstalls it prompts me to inster Master Collection D1 into drive D:\ and won't continue.
I don't understand what has happened and I don't want to try uninstalling for fear that I won't be able to reinstall.  I didn't have to do anything special to get it to install originally (didn't need to run as admin or use compatibility mode, for instance).  This is the download version, bought from Adobe's store so I do not have a disc (and D: is my hard drive anyway).  I even redownloaded the 3GB file from Adobe yesterday but that didn't help.  Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.  Thanks.
    Brad

First of all, I appreciate the response.
This is a new laptop (in March, at least) and the only Adobe software I have installed is CS3 (download version from my hard drive) and Reader X, again from a download.  I haven't installed anything from a CD/DVD so I don't know how or why it would have changed install paths (the D: drive IS where I installed CS3 from originally anyway).  Even so, I don't have a disc and if I juggle drive letters around, what is the root that I should use for a virtual drive?  The CS3 file extracts to an Adobe CS3 folder on the desktop (Adobe CS3 \ Master Collection \ Adobe CS3 \ ....).  I don't know "where/what" the setup program is going to want to find as far as what contents should comprise the virtual disc.  Any help with that info?
I hate to risk uninstalling everything only to find I can't get anything back without an OS reinstall, which I don't have time to do right now.  For now, most of the suite is installed, I just need to add Dreamweaver (and, for the time being, I've installed DW8 from an earlier CS so I have a temp workaround).

  • PE10's odd behaviour in not asking for discs 2 and 3.

My computer complies with system requirements and I have a brand new 'unopened' PE10. The box has three discs. I installed disc1 and the serial number and I was not told to install the other two discs. The installation surprisingly closed down. There is a PE10 shortcut on the desktop and PE10 is in the Program Files. I can open PE10 with the desktop shortcut and everything seems to be there.
I felt uneasy so I uninstalled disc1 and reinstalled it, with the same results. I have used PE4 for many years so I am accustomed to Adobe Photoshop Elements. I have dozens of files in MY PICTURES that I would like to put into PE10 but I haven't done it in case something is not right.
Can someone explain why I was not told to install dics 2 and 3?  Are they needed?

You only need disk 1. Disk two includes the trial of Premier Elements - the video editor and disk 3 is for Mac OS.

This usually happens when you had/ have a newer Adobe product like a trial on the system and it points to updated install components. You will have to uninstall each and every bit of Adobe software and then reinstall in the proper order. Running the cleaner tool may also be required.

In case you are not aware, Mavericks requires a high speed broadband connection.
In the event you need to restore or repair the starutp disk, OS X Recovery also requires a broadband connection as noted here >  About OS X Recovery
You can check your download speed here > Speedtest.net
15Mbps or less, you may not be able to install Mavericks or use OS X Recovery.

  • Photoshop CS4 Trial Version?

Hello everyone, for the past hour or so I've been trying to install Photoshop CS4 (trial). Now, I've gone through the installation successfully, but when it was done it said I would need to restart and reinstall to add the missing components. It came back up as this  and if I check Adobe Photoshop CS4, everything gets selected. Now, I've already installed this, and have no more room to install it again. But even with nothing checked, it still says the total size is 6.9 MB. So I tried with nothing selected, and it went successfully, but when I went to open Photoshop, it said I needed to reinstall and add missing components. I've tried restarting, and I've tried reinstalling (the same as above).
Exactly what comes up when I try to open Photoshop is: "Some of the application components are missing from the Application directory, Please reinstall the application."
Can someone please help me? Thanks in advance!

  • CS3 Installer asks for non-existent DVD drive

I'm running CS3 on Windows XP. I need to reinstall because I somehow lost codecs for Premiere Pro. Whenever I try to reinstall, the CS3 installer puts up an Installer Alert that asks me to insert CS3 Master Collection Disc 1 into drive G:\ to continue installation.
That sounds pretty simple, but there is no G: drive on my computer. My two DVD drives are D: and E:, and inserting the disc there has no effect. Checking the Windows device manager shows no G: device recognized anywhere on the computer.
I can only click OK, which returns the same alert, or Cancel to cancel the installation. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to get the CS3 installer to ask for installation disks on an existing drive. What's particularly annoying is that the installer is running from a DVD in drive E:, so you'd think it would know to ask for further discs in drive E:. I've tried it as well from drive D:.
Any ideas for getting the installer to stop asking for discs in a non-existent drive?
I've toyed with the idea of completely uninstalling CS3, but am afraid that the installer still won't work, in which case I won't be able to get any work done using CS3 at all.
Thanks for any and all help,
    Mike Boom

The 404 means you have not followed the Very Important Instructions on the prodesigntools page before clicking the download links.
The 7 steps are crucial for setting the correct cookies on your hard drive so that the Adobe servers will grant you access to the download files when you click the links.
    So:
    Go back to http://prodesigntools.com/download-adobe-cs4-and-cs3-free-trials-here.html
Follow the Very Important Instructions (Step 0 to Step 6 = 7 Steps)
Then click the download links and they will work.

  • Why isn't the installation asking for disk 2

why isnt the installation asking for disk 2.  I have loaded disk 1 for photo shop 10 elements and the NEXT button takes me to a program maintenance screen where I am told if I proceed with the NEXT button the only indicated action is  Remove Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 from your computer.  The header on the screen is still Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 - Setup.  I have photoshop 9 on my computer.

It will only request Disc 2 if you have requested to install the Premiere Elements 10 trial.  If you do not wish to install the trial there is no need to insert disc 2.

  • I bought Lion and downloaded on my laptop, all is great. I was told by Apple tech I could put it on my family's computers (up to 4). However, I just tried to put on my daughter's and it asked for my billing info again. How do I avoid repeated charges?

I bought Lion and downloaded it on my laptop. Apple tech said I could install it on family computer without buying again, they said it could be on 5. I just tried to install on my daughter's and was asked for my billing info again. How do I install on family computers without having to pay again?

Your other computers must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed. You open App Store and sign in using the same Apple ID used to purchase Lion. Click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of the entry for your Lion purchase.
    Here's a tip:
    Make Your Own Lion Installer
    1. After downloading Lion you must first save the Install Mac OS X Lion application. After Lion downloads DO NOT click on the Install button. Go to your Applications folder and make a copy of the Lion installer. Move the copy into your Downloads folder. Now you can click on the Install button. You must do this because the installer deletes itself automatically when it finishes installing Lion.
    2. Get a USB flash drive that is at least 8 GBs. Prep this flash drive as follows:
Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
    3. Locate the saved Lion installer in your Downloads folder. CTRL- or RIGHT-click on the installer and select Show Package Contents from the contextual menu. Double-click on the Contents folder to open it. Double-click on the SharedSupport folder. In this folder you will see a disc image named InstallESD.dmg.
    4. Plug in your freshly prepared USB flash drive. You are going to clone the InstallESD.dmg disc image to the flash drive as follows:
    Open Disk Utility.
Select the USB flash drive from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Check the box labeled Erase destination.
Select the USB flash drive volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Drag the InstallESD.dmg disc image file into the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
When the clone is completed you have a fully bootable Lion installer that  you can use without having to re-download Lion.

  • Asking for disc 2 on Tiger install

    Hi,
I have a 1.8mhz G5 with 10.3.9 and tried upgrading to Tiger. Bought the disk from apple store. upgrade/install seemed to go fine. restarted but opened with installer again asking for disc 2. there was only 1 disc. I don't understand. I tried inserting my iLife 06 disk. didn't work. the screen said I wanted to install things that required disc 2. I opted for an Easy Install upgrade. HELP! My computer is stuck in this limbo. I can't even quit Installer.
    Thanks,
    Don Burton

Is the disk marked CD or DVD on it?
Is it a black disk label with gray and white X logo on it?

  • Deactivating a photoshop cs4 trial license

Does anyone know how to deactivate a photoshop cs4 trial license?
Basically i need to deactivate this license so i can use the creative suite 4 i have just bought.
So every time i try and open the photoshop application, a window opens saying 'license expired'.
Plus there is no 'help' option at the top of the screen in order for me to deactivate the license, the only option
reads 'photoshop' containing 'hide this' or 'hide all'.
The adobe support team have been useless in trying to help me.
I would be very grateful if someone knew of how to go about deactivating this license.
    Regards.
    Tom Haywood

Hi again, i have followed your advice but the same thing is happening again. All of the other programs on the
suite are working apart from photoshop. which keeps saying the license has expired.
Do you have any other suggestions please?
    Thanks.
