Photoshop CS4 Weird Collor

I'm having a problem with colors in Photoshop CS4. When I open a photo in Photoshop, it alters the colors compared with other softwares for viewing photos (I'm talking about FastStone Image viewer, Windows Picture Viewer, Internet Browser like Opera).
For example, when I open a photo
the green and blue become much more darker, than in other softwares. In fact all colors become darker, but green and blue stand out the most (blue is almost mauve). It's a Photoshop thing (I just reseted all settings, and Lightroom does the same).
I shot the pictures with a Nikon d90 set on color space sRGB and Photoshop is set also on sRGB.
Does anyone know what is going on?  This is very frustrating!!!
Thanks in advance!!!

Notebook Sony VGN-NR160E  - Photoshop is using the monitor Profile, you created using your Spyder3, to display images. The Other apps don't pay any attention to this profile. Thats the cause of the difference you are seeing.
So calibration has to be done correctly:  You should be using a gamma of 2.2 - and make sure that the screen is clean and that there are no interfering factors. like strong light . Also make sure that in your PC's Monitors Control Panel - that your display is picking up the correct profile that you made. Make sure you name it at the end of the Spyder process, so that its identifiable in the displays drop down menu.
Its vaguely possible that the Spyder 3 device isn't set correctly, or is malfunctioning in some way.

  • Photoshop CS4 acting weird - screenshots

    Hi,
    First of all I have:
Photoshop CS4 11.0.1 (whole Creative CS4 Design Premium Suite actually)
Microsoft XP Home Edition with Service Pack 3
    Intel Core Duo 2
    3,25Gb of RAM
    Radeon X1950 Pro graphics card
This isn't a big problem but it's really annoying. When I open an image in Photoshop I see some kind of interference. Some pixels aren't as the suppose to be. Weirdest thing is that this interference starts from the very edge of the document and affects also to guides. First I thought that my graphics card is malfunctioning but this thing doesn't happen anywhere else than in Photoshop.
    Here are the screenshots:
    http://www.kolumbus.fi/tuomas.harju/ps_cs4_interference1.jpg
    http://www.kolumbus.fi/tuomas.harju/ps_cs4_interference2.jpg
    http://www.kolumbus.fi/tuomas.harju/ps_cs4_interference3.jpg
As you can see, it doesn't matter if the zoom is at 100%.
Any ideas what is causing this?
    - Tuomas

The problem came back - or it didn't go away as I first thought.
The pixel interference doesn't show up in the first document/image but when you open the second document or third one, it shows. It seems to be that this problem isn't solved yet.
    Any ideas?
How can I change the topic status back to "Not Answered"?

  • Photoshop CS4 Menu toolbar display bug and fullscreen slowness...

    http://img384.imageshack.us/img384/8202/menutoolsbugee3.gif
I'm having a display bug with the menu toolbar in Photoshop CS4 Extended. Notice the area of tools is gone and replaced by random pixels? This happens whenever I enter the fullscreen mode that hides the interface. And when I exit that fullscreen mode, that bug appears and doesn't fix itself until I restart Photoshop. Can this be fixed?
Image view rotation also happens much slower than normal in that fullscreen mode when interface is hidden. But performs normally after I bring back the interface.
I'm on WinXP, Athlon 64 4000+, 3GB ram, GeForce 6800 GT video card [driver 169.21]. I'm not sure if this is a video driver bug or CS4 bug.

Yeah, Dave, I can understand how that can happen. I've seen that sort of weirdness when I've seriously overtaxed my hardware.

  • Photoshop CS4 - Windows XP/64bit

So, i recently brought Adobe Production Premium CS4, and like alot of people, Photoshop is definatly one of my main tools of trade. I use it primarily for digital painting. However, i currently run the program on Windows XP 32bit, 500GB Hard Drive, 4GB RAM (Seen as 2.6GB due to being only 32bit...annoying i know), 9800 GTX NVidia graphics card, and a 2.4ghz Quad Core processor. This runs very fast with most programs, but not Photoshop CS4 it does not. It isn't as bad as it used to be, but still runs like crap, and is making it almost impossible to paint/draw fast at all. I have all OpenGL support, on, as my computer should be able to handle it fine as it has no problem with other applications such as Maya, but even with this off it still runs slowly.
After monitoring Photoshop resource usage on my PC, i realized it page-files about 2GB of Page file or more, and seems to only really use my first and last processor cores. So i was wondering, if i updated my operating system to Windows XP 64bit, would this make a very noticable difference to its preformance to make it more like CS3 or 7.0, or would this be practically pointless? I am trying to stay away from Vista due to the fact that i generally dont like it, and its compatability problems are annoying. So are there any bugs/things i should know before spending money to get 64bit XP, or should i change somthing on 32bit? or is there even a good noticable difference? Or am i unfortinatly better off upgrading to vista? Or does anyone happen to know how windows 7 will act with it yet?
    Thanks, Ricky

    Interesting....
My graphics card has no option to fource what it uses to render, and Photoshop CS4 aprantly is only programed to use OpenGL anyway. Ironically, after creating this topic, i found out about Adobe's update release of Photoshop CS4 11.0.1, which i didnt have installed. I have it now, and it has definatly made one hell of a big diffeence!! However, the program still lags in many places. Navigating around the image and clicking the text tool (which used to be very slow for whatever reason), are much faster now, however i am still quite confused about one thing it still insists on doing:
I tested 11.0.1. I found it much faster. However, memory usage still seemed a little off. It started at 0.99GB (is what task manager said, even though that is a weird way to say it....), which is much betetr than before. I opened a document of about 3000px width, and 2000px height. It came to using about 1.16GB pagefile then. I painted all over it rapidly to see how much the lag had improved, and i zoomed in and out fast and really shook it around to see if it lagged there, which it didn't...so good news. BUT, then i close the image, and the pagefile goes UP? to 1.28GB... And then drops down to 1.21GB..and stays there. I open another image that was 141.5MB. The pagefile went upto only 1.25GB, and the preformance was really good still....unlike it was in photoshop 7.0 for some reason even though ive always called Photoshop 7.0 to be the most stable realease of it yet....
So i don't really know what to think now. Is there a problem? After closing the image the pagefile was still at 1.25GB, so it didnt drop down the memory like it should have for some reason. I think CS3 had a similar problem that eventually caused an error sayign there is not enough RAM avalible, even if the image was tiny, and i still had 2.5GB of RAM. Some how i got around that by saving the image in PS 7.0, and the opening it in CS3, then it didnt care for some reason.
blizzman, do you have another hard drive for Photoshop to use as a scratch disk? I was thinking of getting a 74GB 10,000 rpm hard drive for it and other programs, but i was wondering if it really requires it for a difference? Below is an image of my task manager with photoshop preferences if anyone has any suggestions?
    Thanks for the reply blizzman.

  • Photoshop CS4 crashes after starting up

    Hi all,
Before I buy Photoshop CS4 Extended, I wanted to install the trial first.
The install was succesfully finished, so i started PS.
When i choose for making a new file, i see the screen where you can select the size of the picture.
When i click OK, Windows says: Photoshop CS4 has stopped working.
Now I only can close the program or debug. Debugging doesn't help.
Running in XP mode of disable visual themes doesn't help also..
I'm running dual boot (Vista Ultimate and Windows 7 Ultimate), and on windows 7 it all works great.
Does anyone have a solution for this weird problem?
    My computer specs are:
Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 32-bit (fully updated)
    Asus P5Q3 Motherboard with 4GB DDR3 RAM
Asus ATI HD 4870 1G Dark Knight graphics card (with the latest driver update - may 15 2009)
    Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 (2,8 Ghz)
Other adobe programs just runs fine, but PS keeps crashing..
Im sorry for my bad English..
I hope someone can help me with this, i really like to purchase PS and work with it..
    Regards,
    Tim
    edit:
by the way, photoshop cs2 and cs3 worked fine..

    Hi,
Thanks for the fast relpies. I like to hear my English is OK. I've got to make my English school exams next week!
I checked the permissions of the Photoshop folders in my user directory (if you mean the 'read only' and 'hide' things..?)
All directories were 'read only', but when I uncheck this, it comes back after I click on the properties of the directory again.
Anyway, my account has administrator rights and my UAC is off. (the 'do you really want to' blahblah.. and the virtual directories)
So I don't think the problem is based on permissions.. It also isn't my virusscanner, because when I turn it off (I have Kaspersky Internet Security 2009) the problem still isn't solved.
Maybe useful: I didn't add any plug-ins for PS. I only installed it.
Yes, it will also crash if i input a arbitrary resolution.
Even if i want to load a picture.. jpg or psd, it keeps crashing.
When I select a picture and click OK, it will load.. but before i can even move my mouse.. it crashes.
So, when I see the 'crash screen' of Windows Vista, i can see the picture at the back.
I also checked the event viewer, and there i can see the application error i also got in PS.
I can't find anything about the licensing service. What is the name of this service? Then I can check if it's on in the task manager.
I updated PS as well. But still, no results. I attached the error message and translated someting in English. (my Windows is Dutch).
I really hope you can help me with this!
    Regards,
    Tim
Edit: I think I forgot the most important!! When I start PS, there comes a warning, before the 30 day trial screen.
It says I've got to download the newest drivers for my graphics card.. but I allready did that. It also says it will turn off the GPU settings in PS.
When I turn this back on, PS gives an error after the loading screen. So then i can't see the interface then. When I restart it, PS automaticly turned off the GPU settings, and it is back to the old problem. I also attached another picture in this post, and tried to translate it. But when you see this screen, maybe you will recognize it.

  • Photoshop CS4 crashes everytime I close the program

Although Photoshop CS4 is running fine on my 2008 Imac 2.8 ghz, when I close the program it crashes, before I reinstall it, is there anything I can do to hopefully fix the issue?
Of note here: I have some Onone software plug ins installed, its weird that Onone shows up twice in the toolbar? Should only be one there.

If none of the above works (all excellent suggestions) try looking for a corrupted saved workspace. That's known to generate a crash message upon quitting Photoshop.
Naturally, this assumes you have tried trashing preferences to no avail.

  • Photoshop CS4 .png Error Message

    Hi,
I was just browsing through some of my research folders, and came across an image that i wanted to open. The file is a .png and is 2048x1323, 7.75MB, and previews fine in Windows Fax Viewer. However, when i went to open this in Photoshop CS4 Extended 11.0.1, i got an error message shown below:
    http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s133/rickyt_album/error.png
"Could not complete your request because the file-format module cannot parse the file."
Any help on what this means and how to sort it out? At first i wondered if somhow the image wasn't supposed to be a .png, so i changed it to .jpg, but then i had the expected error of it noticing it isn't a jpg, and .jpg is the only other file format it could possibly be.
    Thanks,
    Ricky

Today I ran into a simular problem. It was a Tiff though and would not open in PS CS4 with the parse error. May sound weird but I could open it in Corel Paint shop pro X2 with no problems. So when I opened it in X2 I "saved as" the file as a PSD and closed out. Then I opened CS4 and the photo opened just fine. I am sure there is a better way but I didn't have the time to try it. I will mess around with the TIFF file tomorrow to see what is going on.

  • Photoshop CS4 shuts down when I access type tool

Recently, I started having a problem that I wasn't having before.  I can import photos from Bridge and edit and run actions, but as soon as I hit the Type tool, photoshop shuts down.  When I open it back up, it has reverted back to original format and no settings are saved, actions loaded, etc.  This error also occurs when importing previously made .psd files.  Help?

The minute I select the Type tool, it shuts down (error reads:  Adobe Photoshop CS4 has stopped working).
As far as updates, I am not sure if I am getting them or not. ?
I have not changed any fonts lately.
To give some more history:  I am a PC user.  I have two solid state hard drives (one for programs and one for data) and also multiple other drives I use.  A few months ago, I randomly started having problems in Bridge.  It wouldn't load.  I think it was an internal permissions error, but we never could figure it out.  Trying lots of things (reinstalled it several times), I even upgraded one of my solid state drives to make more space in case that was the problem.  Still not working, I downloaded the trial version of CS6 (which I am planning on upgrading to real soon) and as soon as I downloaded that, my CS4 bridge started working.  Weird!  So both sets worked.  Once my CS6 trial expired, I had to go back to using CS4.  However, right after that is when this problem started.  I have no idea where to even begin to see what is wrong and until I can afford the upgrade, am not sure what to do.  I do still have the CS6 software installed (although it is not licensed and won't launch) - should I remove that and see if that is a conflict somehow?

  • OpenGL Enabled, but not working (Photoshop CS4)

I have having a weird problem with Photoshop CS4. First of all, let me give off the specs.
    OS: Windows 7 64 bit
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 7570 (Driver Version 8.960.11.1000, with latest Catalyst Control Center)
I use Photoshop CS4 for freelance work, and one of the tools I like to use is the Rotate tool. When I first got my desktop and installed Photoshop, everything worked fine. However, recently I was forced to perform and factory restore on my desktop thanks to a virus.
Today I started working on something and when I tried using the Rotate tool, it was not working (I go that error window saying it wasn't enabled). I checked the OpenGL settings to see it was enabled. Confused, I restarted Photoshop and tried again with no luck.
This turned into a search around the internet to see just what is going on, but the only thing I could find was suggesting updating drivers for my graphics card and Adobe, which I have tried with no success. I have found out that some people were having the same trouble as me, but what makes my case odd is that it was working fine before the factory restore.
    Any help would be great.

Because of ATI's plethora of version information I'm not really sure what Catalyst release your 8.960.11.1000 driver comes from, but I do know that Catalyst 12.4 has some problems working with later versions of Photoshop.  Perhaps Photoshop CS4 isn't too happy with it either.
The most recent Catalyst release that was known to be good with Photoshop was 12.2 (though it shows up as 12.3 in the status display).  It can be found here:
    http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/previous/Pages/radeonaiw_vista64.aspx
Downgrading drivers is a bit more tricky than upgrading them - you have to fully remove the current ones first, then install the older set.

  • Trying to install Photoshop CS4 and it won't accept my CS4 licenses.

I had the HD crash on my pc and I'm trying to reinstall Photoshop CS4.  I log into my Adobe account and retrieve the licenses key and when I input that into the Photoshop CS4 installer I downloaded right from Adobe it says the key is wrong.  I have checked the licenses several times and it won't install where do I go from here?

I got it there was something weird with the installer I copied to my thumb drive I re-copied the download and it works fine now.

  • Photoshop CS4 Applic. Frame has artifacts

When I open an image in Photoshop CS4 in Window < Application Frame, using a Mac with 10.5.6 & 10.5.7, there are weird artifacts that show up in the background area. If I zoom in and back out, they will go away. But how do I get rid of them all together? Is it a bug in Photoshop? There was a rumor that upgrading from 10.5.6 to 10.5.7 would fix it, but that didn't work (although it did reduce the artifacts, suggesting it's still a bug in 10.5). I have an iMac 2009 with 4GB RAM, and the NVIDIA GeForce GT 130 graphics card. This is the only problem I've had. Anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it? I've searched for any similar problems and can't find much. If you know of any other sources that can help, please share. Thanks - bindigok

  • Photoshop CS4 main menu missing a row of pixels

I have Photoshop CS4 installed on my laptop and Photoshop CS4 Extended installed on my desktop (part of Production Suite). I'm experiencing a problem on BOTH systems where the main menu is missing a row of pixels (see image below). Both systems are running Windows XP Pro SP3.
I have Open GL disabled on both systems. The weird thing is the missing row of pixels comes and goes while I'm using the application. Has anyone else noticed anything similar?
    - John

I have never seen anything like this on several installations of CS4, but obviously a few people get it.
You could experiment with other video settings, for example updating or rolling back drivers, or checking with hardware acceleration reduced in Display Properties > Advanced.
Also, see if a Windows theme is causing it.

  • Won't allow Photoshop CS4 to be default to open PSD files?

I am running Windows Vista and I'm trying to set Photoshop CS4 to be the 'default' to open .psd files, but for some reason it won't allow me to do this?  Has anyone else ever had this issue.  I have no clue why it won't allow me to do this because it's the default for several other extensions...
Any help or insight would be MUCH appreciated!

    Thanks for the reply.
Weird thing is, it shows that PhotoShop CS4 is what is used to open the .psd, .psb, etc files.. but I right click it and it has two other options.
I actually chose "Open With" Adobe Bridge, just out of curiosity to see if it would work and it does.  It seems like Photoshop CS4 is the only program I can't set to default open these files!
It's not making much sense to me right now haha.
    Thanks for the help though!

I am trying to install Dreamweaver CS3 from the original install disc and a progress bar gets about 1/2 way through the installation process and I'm asked to insert the Photoshop CS4 install disc.

    I am on a Mac, OS 10.6
    This is weird.

Run this, the re-install.  Ignore the name of the file.  They condensed everything into one package for CS3-CS5 instead of separate packages for each:
