Photoshop CS5.1 error - you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime.
I have PS 5.1 on my Mac. After I installed Yosemite, it will not work. I get an error saying "To open “Adobe Photoshop CS5.1.app” you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime." According to Java, I have the latest Java. I contacted Apple and they said to uninstall PS 5.1. I reinstalled with no change. Any ideas? FYI - PS 5.1 work on my Macbook with no errors.
This is frustrating as I cannot use the software. Any help is appreciated.
Install this:
Java for OS X 2014-001
Reinstall CS5.1

I just updated my Mac to the new op system and when I tried to open my Ai it gave me this message, "To open "Adove Illustrator CS5.1 you need to install the legacy java SE 6 runtime." I updated my Java to 8 and it still won't open. I tried to update my Ai to 11...it won't update.
Steven,
The right way/order is to update the OP, then reinstall the applications.

Hi,
My mac keeps telling me to open “Adobe Photoshop CS5” you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime? I have already done this several times. I recently foolishly updated to yosemite and now this error message keeps popping up! Any idea what to do?and - check with Adobe - would strongly suspect you need to upgrade CS. Strongly consider Creative Cloud, access to the entire TypeKit alone is amazing.

After just installing OS10 Yosemite v10.10.1, I try to open Photoshop CS5 and get a message saying 'To open "CS5ServiceManager", you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime.' I updated to Java 8 update 25 and I still get the same message when I try to open CS5. What do I need to do in order to open and use Photoshop CS5 using Yosemite? Thank you for your help
Here it is: Apple Java 2014-001.

To open "Adobe Photoshop CS4" you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime.
I have updated my system to Yosemite and when I try to open Adobe CS$ i get this message. To open “Adobe Photoshop CS4” you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime. I have followed the links and installed Java for OS X 2014-001 includes installation improvements, and supersedes all previous versions of Java for OS X. This package installs the same version of Java 6 included in Java for OS X 2013-005.
When I again try to open CS4 I get the same message To open “Adobe Photoshop CS4” you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime.
Can anyone assist please?
Thanks Colinyou may need to uninstall CS then reboot, try to see if it allows you to update your JAVA
APPLE'S JAVA
Java for OS X 2014-001
SUN MICROSYSTEMS JAVA

then reinstall CS4
I ran into something similar with CS6 where it needed to come off and go back on
technically CS4 is not supported by Adobe and reported to be problematic with Yosemite. -

I get the message, "To open 'Adobe Illustrator CS5.1.app' you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime. What to do?
Sorry, I didn't say it damages Java.
Yes, I know. You were quoting from a post on Adobe's site.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think it wasn't since Mountain Lion.
Yes, I think that's correct. Apple stopped installing Java as part of the OS after Lion. If you check the installers for Mountain Lion through Yosemite, there are a lot of root Java processes OS X still installs, or Java wouldn't work at all. It's just the actual runtime environment no longer installs. The user has to do that.
that the application files are damaged. They are not talking about JAVA itself.
What application files? Do you mean the Adobe apps themselves? If so, yes, it's been reported that the CS5 and CS6 apps in particular usually need to be reinstalled after upgrading OS X to Yosemite. That's actually an old problem that isn't a Yosemite only issue. -
To open "CS5ServiceManager" you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime.
Recently updated to OSX Yosemite. Now every time I turn the computer on I get this message.
To open "CS5ServiceManager" you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime.
I don't know what CS5ServiceManager is. And when I click on the "More Info" button, I am redirected to a blank screen. So I'm confused and a little worried. Is it necessary to install Java SE 6 runtime? If so, I think I can find the instructions on how to do it, but I'd like to know if (1) it is safe to do so and (2) if it's necessary. Here it is: Apple Java 2014-001. Quite safe to install. Only necessary if you are using Adobe's CS5 suite.

When I try and open adobe illustrator I get a pop up message saying "To open “Adobe Illustrator CS6” you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime." it also says "Click “More Info…” to visit the legacy Java SE 6 download website." When i click more info it transfers me to an apple page which never loads, its just a blank page. I downloaded Java SE 6 like it says it needs but it did nothing. All of my other Adobe programs such as bridge, dreamweaver, lightroom, Photoshop, indesign, and flash all work except for illustrator. What can I do to fix this?
Go to Apple and look for the Java for OSX 2014-001 link. Download from there and install it.

Hi all. When i try open illustrator cs6 i get the following message: to open illustrator cs6 you need to install the legacy java se 6 runtime. This started after i upgraded my mac to yosemite. I tried looking on java site but cannot find anything. Any suggestions?

Error: Adobe Illustrator CS6.app you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime
I can not longer open Illustrator files. I get this message. If I click on More info... I go to a page that doesn't seem to exist.
Loading a Java runtime doesn't seem to fix it either.
Unhappy. I have grading to do.DrDebit,
You may be able to get round the legacy JAVA requirement as follows:
Create empty folders at “/System/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/1.6.0.jdk” and “/System/Library/Java/Support/Deploy.bundle”, to make Illustrator use Jave SE 8 as it should.
The solution was presented by Kals in post #7 here:
https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1637908
If not, here are download sites:
Win:

I keep getting this error. I have tried to look for "uninstall nexdef," but can't find it. Any thoughts?
