Photoshop CS5 32 bit misrecognizes a command received from another program...

I use a free mouse gesture program called StrokeIt. It allows mouse gestures to be made for other programs. It uses mouse gestures and a few mouse click actions to activate custom commands.
But there is a bug in which Photoshop CS5 32 bit won't receive a command properly from StrokeIt. A StrokeIt command sent to Photoshop CS5 32 bit with the wheel_down mouse gesture is misrecognized by Photoshop CS5 32 bit as the same command used by the wheel_up gesture. The developer of StrokeIt has done a lot of testing on this problem and has concluded that this is a recognition bug in Photoshop CS5 32 bit under 64 bit Windows [but no problem with 64 bit Photoshop]. Can this be fixed?
BTW: I'm currently using: Win7 x64 | Photoshop CS5 32 bit | StrokeIt Home 0.9.7
ALSO: To perform the wheel_down / wheel_up commands in StrokeIt, you hold down the right mouse button and scroll the wheel down/up. This will run whatever commands you have customized to that gesture.

here is the detailed dicussion with the strokeit developer on this problem at the strokeit forums.  the developer's name is jeff and the discussion on this problem began on nov 15 on page 2...

this problem affects *some* 32 bit programs on 64 bit windows, and photoshop cs5 32 bit happens on be one of them.

  • Photoshop CS5 jpegs being resampled on import to another program?

I just installed Photoshop CS5 yesterday.  If I save an image as a jpeg at, say, 300 dpi, when I import it into CorelDraw the image is being resampled to 72 dpi, so instead of, say, the correct 5x7" image @ 300dpi importing I get a 20x30" image @ 72dpi.
I've being using Photoshop CS3 for a couple of years 9and CS2 and CS before that) and jpegs imported into CorelDraw always retain their correct dpi/size.  Why is CS5 causing this to happen?
I have tested with exactly the same image in both CS3 and CS5 and the new program is the only one causing the problem.
Images saved in CS5 as a PSD file retain the correct dpi/size on import to Corel - the issue is only with jpegs.
As I produce a lot of images that go into Corel for print work, CS5 is currently unuseable for me.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks, Dave

You're saving to JPEG as an intermediate step for your workflow?  You realize that incurs some visual defects, as JPEG compression is lossy, right?
Isn't there another format you could choose that would do the job and both avoid the JPEG compression and give you the proper sizing?  And is there no dialog in FlexiSign or the other software to allow you to control the import size?  If not, it sounds like pretty brain-damaged software, frankly...
Adherence to standards is important, or we end up with a hodgepodge of stuff that just doesn't work in any fashion.  Far too many developers create software that just barely works, basing its decisions on some info that they just found laying around.  With the Internet available today there's simply no excuse for that.  Blame Photoshop if you want, but no one but you chose to buy new professional software that's keeping up with standards while trying to continue to use other software that's based on smoke and mirrors.
    -Noel
Edit:  Wow, I looked up FlexiSign.  You're saying you paid thousands of dollars for this software, and you aren't willing to even ask them whether they have a patch to fix their software to be compliant?

created by JimHess in Adobe Camera Raw - View the full discussionThank camera requires Camera Raw 8.6 which isn't compatible with Photoshop CS5. But you can download DNG converter 8.6 or newer and create digital negative (DNG) copies that will be compatible with Photoshop CS5. • My photoshop cs5 will not recognize raw photos from my canon eos 70d

my photoshop cs5 will not recognize raw photos from my canon eos 70d

No.  DNG is a RAW format.  There are a few small manufacturer specific items that are left out when converted to RAW (for example, Nikon's Active D lighting) that aren't maintained, as well as some Meta data and focus points, etc.  Personally I never noticed the difference, but perhaps some do.  There is no impact to the image quality, you have just as much post production freedom with DNG.
I did it for a couple years before upgrading to CS6.  It's an extra step, but you get used to it and it's not a huge deal.  I would put my card in my reader, and download to a temp file.  While that downloaded I would go to the fridge and grab a beer [Edit - you can substitute the beverage of your choice ].  Then I would run the RAW to DNG converter, and drink my beer.  It was usually done before my beer (if not I got another).  I saved the CR2 files as a backup at first, but once I got comfortable trusting DNG I stopped doing that.
Another option is to get Lightroom and use that for your developing.  You can then send over a TIFF file with the edits.  But in this situation you couldn't send the image over as a smart object (I think, I assume this would use ACR?).

  • Am useing a PC. Have Photoshop CS5, suddenly cannot move Raw files from bridge (or anywhere else) into photoshop. Jpeg move into photoshop ok, did get error message 1 what do I do to correct this                om bridge (or anywhere else for that matter)

    Useing a PC
    Have Photoshop CS5
Suddenly cannot move Raw Files from Bridge (or anywhere else) into photoshop.
I Can move Jpegs into ps the only issue is with Raw files
I did get error1 message but as do not know what that means its no help
    any suggestions?

Sorry for the late reply. My email firewall has become a little over zealous & sent a lot of my emails straight to my junk email folder, so I have only just now discovered your reply in my junk mail folder.
The only "don't open files exceeding xxx megabytes" instruction I can find in my Prefs, is in the Bridge Prefs for Thumbnails, & mine is set at 1000mb. The biggest files I handle are bigger than 200mb so I should be able to open a few, not just one.
However, this doesn't explain why I can open a psd format file of 180mb, close it, but then can't open a RAW format file of only 26mb immediately after.
I can open the RAW file only if I restart my computer - very annoying!
However, thanks for the advice about the video card & memory.
So, I'm still stuck as to what the issue is.

  • Lightroom 4 launches to Photoshop CS5 when I try to print from Lightroom. How do I change it

Lightroom 4 launches to Photoshop CS5 when I try to print from Lightroom. How do I change it, so the printing goes directly from Lightroom to the printer.

    MartyOretsky wrote:
Let me try again. I am in Lightroom and click print. Then I am launched to PS.
    This is not possible.
What you are seeing is not PS, it's your printer dialog. PS does not have an ICM button.
And you say: " Lightroom doesn't stop working; rather CS5 stops working"
And what does the error message say that you posted in the screen shot?  Does it not say "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom has stopped working" ?
Do not be confused. Adobe Photoshop Lightroom is the official name of Lightroom. This is not CS5 that has stopped working. CS5 does not come on when you hit the print button in Lr.
It is Lr that has stopped working.
And you say: "My next step is to click on ICM so the color controls are done by the software."
This is wrong. When you want Lr to do the color management, you select a profile in the Print Module, in the <Print Job> panel under Color Management / Profile.
In the screen shot below I have selected a profile for my HP printer and paper. And that's where you select a profile for your printer and paper.
You do not click on ICM in your printer dialog. You click there only when you want your printer to manage colors.
So try to print by selecting the profile in the print Module as indicated and do not click on ICM.
By the way: Which OS? Are you on a Mac?

Can photos be imported to IPhotos from another program on the same computer eg. Adobe Photoshop?

Photos aren't "in" Photoshop. They're in the Finder and has just been set to use Photoshop to open them.
You can import files into iPhoto by
The File -> Add to Libary command
Drag and Drop to either the iPhoto window or the iPhoto icon.

  • How to get Adobe Bridge CS5 to open an FLV file in another program?

    Hello Folks,
How do I get Adobe Bridge CS5 to open an FLV file in another program other than Flash CS5?

How do I get Adobe Bridge CS5 to open an FLV file in another program other
    than Flash CS5?
When I double click on an FLV video, it always opens Flash CS5.  I want to be
able to use one of my other FLV player apps instead.
For single use when having pointed the cursor on that file with right mouse
click choose open with and choose the wished application from the fly out
    menu.
For permanent use go to Bridge Preferences File Type Association section and
from the list find the .flv file extension. In this line you can select the
little triangle next to Adobe flash and from the list select the one you
prefer, now the all open in this chosen app.

  • How to create a variant to a report from another program at run time

    Hi experts,
when i am using FM  :  /OSP/REPORT_CREATE_VARIANT to create a report variant from a program then i am getting  an error 'For object /OSP/ERPNR , number range interval 01 does not exist ', how should i avoid it or can any one help me out to create a report variant from another program at run time with the results of the program.so that i can execute the report from here with this variant

    If i understand you,
    - You can use a FM like [RS_CREATE_VARIANT|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/advancedsearch?cat=sdn_all&query=rs_create_variant+&adv=false&sortby=cm_rnd_rankvalue] to create a variant and then use it in the [SUBMIT|http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_03/helpdata/EN/fa/096d67543b11d1898e0000e8322d00/frameset.htm] statement USING SELECTION-SET.
    - But you may also use SUBMIT with WITH parameters which doesnt require variant creation and with much less programming efforts.
    - You can mix the two solutions also.
So what is you actual requirement, also look at some documentation like [ Scheduling a Job: Full-Control Method|http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_03/helpdata/EN/fa/096ce5543b11d1898e0000e8322d00/frameset.htm]
