Photoshop CS5 64 can't startup

I am using Mac Pro with 10.5.8 12GB ram.
When i startup Photoshop CS5 64bit it won't startup but after i switch to 32 bit it work well. Can someone help ???

Do you have any 3rd party plugins installed? Could be interfering in the 64bit startup process if they're very incompatible.

Photoshop CS5 crashes immediately upon startup.

I just upgraded my Production Premium CS4 to Production Premium CS5. Since doing so, Photoshop CS5 crashes immediately upon startup. Photoshop CS4 still works fine, as do all of the other CS4 and CS5 products. I read that it may be a font issue but I've resolved any conflicts, and I'm still having the issue. Below is the crash report. Does anyone have any recommendations or should I just ask for a refund? I am running a Macbook Pro 17", OS 10.6.4. Neither the NVidia 6400M and the NVidia 9600M GT work. Hi Ray,
There are also a lot of reports about the 10.6.4 update causing problems with display and video cards. So even though this crash log isn't pointing to that as the cause, you have other problems to look forward to if you continue with 10.6.4. :-( Hopefully Apple is working on a fix for this pronto!

I've had the student version of the Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Design Premium software for several years now.
When I received my Windows 8 computer I installed the software with no issue.
Last week when I tried opening Photoshop I get the following error: "Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 has stopped working.A problem caused by the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
I deactivated and uninstalled the entire Creative Suite then reinstalled it. I am able to open the other programs, but still receive the same message for Photoshop.
What can I do?

I found the issue was with the Nik Filters I was using. The filters were messing with Photoshop's initializing. I uninstalled and reinstalled the filters and now Photoshop works like a charm.
It appears this forum is dead?!

LR5 wants update to Camera Raw 8.1 to edit in Photoshop (CS5). Can the LR5 dialogue box be ignored?

Does anyone know how i can update camera raw 6 to camera raw 8.1? When working in lightroom 5, when i ctrl-e to edit in photoshop, i get a dialog box saying i need camera raw 8.1. I have photoshop cs5, windows 7, 64 bit, camera raw 6. I dont have creative cloud. Ive tried installing adobe updater, but just get redirected to CC. Any ideas where/how I can get camera raw 8.1? Thank you.

Photoshop CS5.1 - can't do ANYTHING

Hi there,
I am having a major problem with Photoshop CS5 Extended under Windows 7. Basically, the software has become virtually unusable.
I can't open any files and creating new files rarely works (I have to try about 20 times before it finally opens a document).
When a new document does, by chance, get created, I can't do anything inside it. I try to use the brush tool and it starts drawing for about 1-2 seconds then freezes and disappears.
I have tried virtually everything I can think of including:
Updated my video card drivers.
Ejected all CD/DVD drives, removed all external peripherals (printers, scanners, memory sticks, iPod connections, etc.)
Completely uninstalled and reinstalled Photoshop.
Disabled the OpenGL setting.
Reset my settings file (CTRL+ALT+SHIFT on start).
Changed my scratch disks around.
Run Photoshop in both 32-bit and 64-bit mode and as administrator.
Run Photoshop in compatibility mode.
Interestingly enough, I installed Photoshop CS (yes, CS1) and it has EXACTLY the same issue, which means to suggest it's something common to all versions of Photoshop.
I have tried absolutely everything I can think of to get it working, but it appears useless.
No error message, nothing logged, nothing at all.
I feel extremely frustrated that Adobe could let such an enormous bug into their flagship product, moreover, not provide any useful debugging information or error messages when the problem does in fact arise. It seems to me very poor quality.
I would appreciate any possible solution anyone could suggest, as I've exhausted my research and knowledge.

Haha, right. I blame Photoshop for not showing an error message or log entry because it can't run under my system.
The ultimate cop out. "It's a problem with your system."
I think if you spend five minutes searching the forums, you'll notice many users report the same thing. In fact, a lot of users suggest the create a new user "solution."
Seriously, search around. Eject your CD drive (hundreds of people saying "that works!"). Upgrade your video card driver (a few say that works). Change your default printer (a lot say that works).
Are you seriously saying Photoshop is perfectly fine instead of saying "Photoshop tried to query your printer, but was unable to, please investigate."? Come on.
If you're a developer, you'd agree it's pretty straight forward. It's not a hardware problem (it works as another user). No other application has any problems running under the user account, so unlikely to be a virus or anything launching with applications.
Photoshop is clearly getting an exception (because I can see that in the debug), but isn't showing an error message or log entry, therefore prevents a user from troubleshooting why it's occurring.
But sure, you can blame it on the user's system instead of fixing the issue in Photoshop.

Photoshop CS5 i can't open RAW documents

Hello everyone
I just bought Photoshop CS5 and I can not open RAW documents with it. It happened to me the same problem with Element 8 and I managed to install CameraRaw8 on it.
I did the same manipulation and this error message show up: "Unable to use the Camera Raw plug-in"

Raw support varies by camera make and model and Camera Raw is updated regularly by Adobe.

Photoshop CS5 - Why can't I have the choice to tile Horz or Vert as before?

I use tile on 95% of my jobs. It is a waste of space when I tile all vertical pictures because I do not have the choice of Tile Vertically or Tile Horizontally as on previous version of Photoshop. I tried the different choices offered on "arrange document" and there is non with the vertical choice, unless you choose one that displays my photos some on one size and the remaining or two or three remaining, a different size to fill up the screen.

see some other choices under the Arrange Docments menu.

Photoshop CS5: I can't see what i'm drawing

Hi,
I seem to have trouble seeing anything i paste or draw. I can see the result on the layer image, but can not see the full result on the document itself. Everything was working fine just about 1 hr 1/2 ago. I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it, but it did nothing.
I have a photography project to do and I need this problme to be fixed immediately or asap.
Much help would be appreciated.

For right now, disable OpenGL drawing in Photoshop's prefs and relaunch Photoshop. That'll avoid the bug in your video card driver.
Long term: you've got a bug in your video card driver, and you need to update the driver. If the latest driver doesn't fix it, then you need to contact the GPU maker so they can get more information and fix the bug.

Photoshop CS5.1 Crashing on startup

The driver IS updated. I reformatted and reinstalled Windows and have been running updates constantly for the last 28 hours 135 for Windows, and another 43 for hardware and other apps like Office and Adobe CS5.5.
Funny thing is, turning it off and then back on makes it like it was never a problem. As to the features I'd be missing out on... most of them don't run anyway on this old 32 bit AMD Sempron 2.1gHz machine with built in Nvidia graphics (128mb RAM) and 2gigs of DDR1 (667mHz) SDRAM

Photoshop CS5.1 - Can't save or open file

This is an issue that randomly pops up and has been popping up for a while now (also in CS4 and CS5).
Basically I will be working in Photoshop and all of a sudden I cant save the file anymore. It opens up the dialog (if i do a "save as") but after a second or two it stops, leaving the file unsaved. After this point I can't even open any more files, the "file open" dialog box opens, but no documents.
If I have a document open during this time and try to edit a type layer, it will revert to the previous variant after I commit the changes.
I also can't do a drag&drop command from that point onward.
After I reboot, it starts working again ... until the next time "it" happens.
I have openGL turned off atm, same happens with it being turned on.

Everything is updated. No third party plugins are installed, just the adobe fonts are on this computer (did a fresh install cause of this issue).
Its weird because, I can't even use the free transform tool (it shows the bounding box, but I cant drag anything). Same with the text layers, can't make any permanent changes.
When I click on file/save nothing happens, file/save as opens up a dialog box, but then it's the same thing.

Photoshop CS5 bug, can not copy/cut from JS - PC only.

I have stumbled upon what I believe is a serious bug in PS5 when using extensions or panels. It seems that copy and cut via JS do not work on Windows!
Do this:
Using Adobe Configurator 2.0 create a new panel with one JS button
Use this JS code var docRef = app.activeDocument;docRef.selection.copy();
Run the panel on PS5 on MAC - works!
Run the panel on PS5 on Windows - DOES NOT WORK!
This is the same result as when creating a panel with flash builder + JS file.

I'm having the same issue - Copy is failing to work when calling a script through a panel, yet it works fine in the toolkit.
What's the solution to this? The initial report of this was 12-04-09 Please dont tell me that this has not been addressed in 2.5 years???

This issue also causes `copy` and `paste` functionality on the computer to stop working.
I have a work around using duplicate, invert selection and clear... but this still has the issue with `copy / paste` not working...

There is no 64 bit TWAIN plug-in for Photoshop CS5?

I have downloaded the PSCS5OptionalPlugins_Mac_en_US dmg and opened up the "Optional Plug-Ins" and there is no TWAIN driver for 32_64bit.
My Epson Perfection 4990 Photo works fine stand alone. I installed an upgrade for it (the driver) so I have the latest and it is suppose to work with 32 or 64 bit. Photoshop CS5 does not recognize the 32bit_only version downloaded plug-in when I copy it into the Plug-Ins/Import-Export folder.
So how can I get my Epson to be recognized in Photoshop CS5 under File -> Import.? I did have it working in CS4 but CS5 needs a 64bit version and I don't see how to get that and I'm stuck. Would buying Silverfast bridge this problem?

Just to be clear, this option has not been eliminated in Photoshop; you can still scan directly in Photoshop within the constraints I've mentioned elsewhere recently, but will post again:
(1) You need to install the optional TWAIN plugin, which you can download from the Adobe web site. This plugin is not installed by default. Make sure you have the correct TWAIN plugin, the TWAIN plugin from CS4 will not work in Photoshop CS5, and vice versa.
(2) In Photoshop CS5, you can scan in 64-bit mode if you are running Snow Leopard (10.6.x), and the scanner manufacturer has released a 64-bit compatible TWAIN driver. So far, most TWAIN drivers are not 64-bit compatible (the only ones I know of are for more recent Canon scanners.) Check the scanner manufacturer's web site for the latest information. You can launch Photoshop in 32-bit mode to use a TWAIN driver that is not 64-bit compatible.
