Photoshop CS5 64bit Directory Problem
I have recently tried re-loading my CS5 (64bit) software on to Windows 7 (64 bit)
My problem is that CS5 ALWAYS loads into the 'Program Files' Directory and not the correct one 'Program Files (x86). This is depsite me altering the various areas to direct the loading to the correct area.
Bridge CS5 ALWAYS goes into the correct directory.
I have tried everything that I can think of to sort this out. The only thing left is to format the HDD and start again!!!!!!
Can anyone help correct this problem??
That was a mis-understanding on my part; this has now been corrected. I am
new to 64bit!!
The problem started when the attached message came up. Irrespective of
where Photoshop is loaded this message comes up and Photoshop will not
start!!
I wonder if there is something in the registry that is causing this????

Using Photoshop CS5 with Windows 7.
If I open my photoshop cs5 from a desktop short cut I get it from Programs Files/Adobe/Photoshop CS5 (64bit) which will not work with some of my old plugins,
Having placed a short cut of the other photoshop cs5 onto desktop which opens from Programs Files (x86)/Adobe/Photoshop CS5, this has my older versions of plugins stored.
What I wish to do is to be able to right click on an image and open it with Adobe/Photoshop CS5. at the moment if I right click on an image I only get one choice PS CS5 64bit.
I don't wish to use the default setting as this will only allow me to open my image in first instance in PS, at the moment I prefer to open in windows media so I can make my mind up what I wish to do with the image.
Any ideas please.The only thing I can think of to try is only one PS can be open at a time so if you want to open an image in PS-32bit then open PS-32bit prior to right-clicking and opening in PS, so that right-click-open will use the existing PS-32bit you’ve already opened. If you want things opened in PS-64bit then make sure no PS-32bit is open before choosing to open in PS.

Photoshop CS5(64Bit): "You don't have permission to save to this location. Contact the administrator to obtain permission." I am the administrator and give myself permission. What can I do to save the file? This is the user's PC, licensed PS CS5 software and Win 7 OS.
Temporarily save to another folder, until you figure it out.
Just because you are the owner and are the sole administrator, does not always guarantee that you have permission. There are several folders that you can not access no matter how hard you try. As for folders in your document folder, it is more likely a basic permission setting that took on permissions of a copied file. Some folders and files are set to a child/parent default setting, meaning the child folder/file (the one you are accessing) has the identical settings of its parent and when the parent changes, so does the child.
You can alter the parent or the child folder/file.
Right click on the folder/file select properties.
Click on the security tab.
Click on each of the group names and see what permissions are set.
You can then edit a group if necessary.
If it will not allow it, you may need to use the advanced button to create a new copy of the group which should happen when you alter its settings (In other words, you don't have to physically create the copy, it does it for you when you OK the changes)
The administrator should have full access to the folder in the documents folder, if you are listed as an associate of the administrator group your name should also be listed there with full access. The System should also have full access.
All other groups should have reading access only if they exist. -

i have win7 64bit and i install PS cs5 64bit but i not support urdu then i install 32bit then then it work but why 64bit version not work with urdu language properlyI don't condone the problems, but a workaround I've recently read about for the copy count problem is to do the following, in order:
1. Set the copy count you want.
2. Click the Print Settings... button to enter the printer driver setup dialog.
3. [OK] out.
4. Print
This is reported to get the proper copy count into the print driver and make it "stick". I just tried it and it seems to work.
Keep in mind you may want to go through this again after printing to get the copy count to default back to 1 for the next print.

How do I install my plug-ins in Photoshop CS5 64bit
Can't seem to install my plug-ins that I have been using in Photoshop CS3 and CS4. Mediachance, Nik, onOne, Alien Skin, Photkit, Fluidmask, Fred Miranda, etc. They all work in CS3 in Win 7 Pro 64bit, but do not show in CS5.
I tried CS4 and CS5 on my old Hp (32bit). CS4 was OK, but nothing to write
home about. CS5 could not support my plug-ins as well as CS4, actions did
not work well in CS5. I ended up having to keep CS3 extended active. When
all else fails I use PS 7. Ended up dumping the entire CS4 Design Suite
Premium. As it turns out I should have dumped CS5 and Kept CS4 Active. I
do not like having to use the automate menu to access plug-ins that were in
the Filters Menu or added pull down menu bar (extensis/onOne menu bar).
Also do not like the very small text for the Pull Downs. CS5 apparently does
not support the onOne menu bar. I dumped CS5(64bit) later today. Installed
32Bit CS5. It’s a real shame I can not use the full performance features of
this performance laptop (Quad Core, 2GB discrete graphics, 8GB DDR3 1333Mhz,
SSD/Hybrid drives) with CS5. Had to process a photo shoot today and ended
up using DXO Optics Pro. Really very unhappy with CS5. The few
enhancements vs. the dysfunction of CS5 are not worth the cost. Sure glad I
did not go for the full Design Premium upgrade this time. The accumulated
cost/value of all my plug-ins by far exceed the value of the CS5 upgrade. I
just may go back to my Corel Apps on my MAC. Can not afford to purchase
(once again) all my Plug-ins. Nik , Alien Skin, and onOne are grossly
overpriced.
Sorry to RANT. Just not happy with CS4 and CS5. I have been using
Photoshop since the version 4 release. The best releases were PS7 and CS3 -
Strange Display Bug - Photoshop CS5 64bit
I have an issue where a portion of my screen extending from the top left corner displays images in Photoshop just a little differently than the rest of the screen. You can see how it looks in these screenshots (I was a little surprised the screenshots captured the bug). These are screens of a photoshop document filled with one color, not the two shades it appears to be.

This bug doesn't appear except in Photoshop. As you can tell it's always the same part of the screen. Except somehow Photoshop briefly 'remembers' where the image bug is when I drag it around with the hand too. Eventually it goes back to the original spot or it will reset to there when I zoom or do something to the image. You can see in the screens how that works.
I have tried clearing out the settings files.
Reinstalling Photoshop.
Updated display drivers.
I connected to the monitor to another computer and ran Photoshop from that one (no bug).
I attached another monitor to this computer - no bug with that monitor. Strangely, it seemed to take a few minutes to reappear after I reattached my other monitor again. I thought it had gone away at first.
I've done some searching around the web and the forums but can't seem to find the right answers. It would be great is someone had some ideas on what's going on. This problem is driving me batty. Thanks much.

Hm, seems to stop exactly halfway across, left to right, and in a 5:4 ratio.
Looks like a pretty big display... What's the pixel resolution of your monitor? Does it use a dual-link DVI connection?
Do you have any desktop management software active that does things like expand the desktop or provide multiple / virtual desktops? I'm trying to guess at whether something might be causing the system metrics to be reported wrongly.
Just on a hunch, try this: Choose Edit - Preferences - Performance, click the [Advanced Settings...] button, and change the OpenGL Mode to Basic.
If no change, does the problem go away if you uncheck [ ] Use OpenGL Drawing entirely?

Hi!
I installed photoshop CS5 Extended and unfortunatelly the 3D menu options are all grayed out.
My graphic card: ATI Radeon HD 3600
I enabled the OpenGL drawing. In the Preferences menu the 3D panel was active after i turned on the OpenGL drawing, but everytime I want to use some 3D feature the program tells that - for example: "The command create 3D from 2D is not currently available." OR "The command create repoussé from layer mask is not currently available."
I don't know what could be the problem or maybe I need better graphic card?Hi, for some strange reason all of the 3D menus in my CS5 extended are not displayed on my workstation but up and active on my laptop and I just cannot find the reason why. I have a Radeon 4870HD 1GB DDR5 and have downloaded the latest drivers including open gl3.2 but it makes no difference, have you any idea would could be wrong.
I have looked in Menus and all of the data is there but it just wont display on the menu bar, its driving me nuts!

Photoshop CS5-64bit support for Epson Perfection V600 Scanner

It says: "If the manufacturer of your scanner doesn't provide a 64-bit driver, open Photoshop CS5 in 32-bit mode to enable TWAIN scanning functionality with 32-bit drivers."
Epson does provide a 64-bit driver for the V600 scanner. I installed in on my 64-bit version of Windows 7 and I can see it in the printers and scanners devices control panel. However, I don't see the scanned listed under File -> Import within CS5 64 bit.
I was able to install the 32_bit TWAIN driver downloaded from the Epson website in the 32 bit CS5 install location. It works, but I rarely use the 32 bit version. The 64-bit version has worked great for me and my computer has 12 GB of RAM for heavy photoshopping.
Is there a way to get support for the V600 within CS5 16bit?There is no 64 bit TWAIN program. So far there are too many technical problems. If you want to use TWAIN you have to use the 32 bit version.
If you would rather use the 64 bit program do the operation with the scanner and then open the fle in PS. -
Photoshop CS5 - Image resize problem with move tool
Hi People
Here's my problem
When I try to resize an layer using the move tool (as opposed to the Free Transform tool), while I'm in the process of moving the scaling handles, the bounding box reflects my movement but the layer preview stays at it's original size. I didn't have this problem with CS4 and I've only recently upgraded. I work around this problem by using the proper Free Transform tool (ctrl+t) but it would be nice to know why the hell this happens. It seems to me to be more of a graphical glitch than a software preference but I thought I'd check just-in-case.

I also read you you tried updating your video dirvers and your syste crashed and you had to roll back. Make sure you have downloaded the latest correct drivers. If that does not work try turning off Open GL in photoshops preferences.
On my old XP 32 bit system CS5 movet tool with transform dialog does not fail like on your system. I can move the handles time and time again without commiting the transform. The only way to have Photoshop revert the transform back to the original state is to press the ESC key to cancel the uncommitted transform. -
ACR to Photoshop CS5 window focus problem.
Running Photoshop CS5 on Win7, both 64 bit. No problems for months, then recently this minor "annoyance" appeared.
I "host" ACR via Bridge, with the windows for all three apps maximized. I double-click a raw file in Bridge and ACR opens. I make my ACR adjustments, or not, and click "Open Image" to pass to Photoshop.
The images passes into Photoshop OK, but the Photoshop window does not receive "focus". Instead, the ACR window closes, leaving the underlying Bridge window displayed. But then no window has focus.
When I click once on the Photoshop tab, I get a screen flicker, like a window is being minimized, but the Bridge window remains displayed. I click again on the Photoshop tab and it comes up, full screen with focus.
If I take the ACR window out of "maximized" mode, the problem does not occur. Raw images pass from Bridge through ACR to Photoshop with proper window focus. Opening tif, psd, or jpeg images via Bridge is no problem. Only when raw images pass through a maximized ACR window does Photoshop fail to receive focus.
A few days ago I used the Windows 7 "snap" feature to place the Photoshop window and ACR window side-by-side. This is done by dragging a window off-screen until it turns blue and then releasing. I believe this action caused the problem I'm having now. I've unsnapped, resnapped, and unsnapped the Photoshop and ACR windows several times, hoping to clear the problem, but it remains.
Keeping the ACR window out of maximized mode is an easy work around, but the mystery remains and I hate mysteries.I know how you feel, I've had a few problems like this with CS5. I can only think of two suggestions:
1. Disable Windows 7's fancy desktop (Aero peek, or whatever it's called) to see if that helps.
2. Make sure you're sorting by filename in Bridge. I have noticed that sorting by metadata causes Bridge to sometimes steal focus when it's not wanted. I love Bridge, but christ it needs a good sorting out. -
Photoshop CS5 Printing Preset Problem
I am trying to print from Photoshop CS5 to a Konica Bizhub c451 printer that uses account tracking and user authentication. But, when attempting to print from photoshop CS5 the printer preset doesn't have the same options (doesn't allow us to put in owner information) as the other CS5 products. For example I am able to print from Illustrator CS5 but not Photoshop CS5. I am also able to print from Photoshop CS3 on the same computer but not CS5. Any ideas?

Solution : In windows 7 ->search programs and files ->enter "dccw.exe" ->enter will open "Welcome to color calibration" then follow the steps.

Photoshop CS5 Color picker problem
Hey!
Suddeny my Photoshop CS5 Color picker has gone wrong. It wouldn't let me change Foreground or Background colors and goes back to gray all the time. I have not changed any settings, but last time I used it was yesterday and all worked ok.
I have restarted my PC sereveral times, that shouldn't be a problem!!

HT1198 why a disk image on user/shared, rather than just a folder in that location called iPhoto?
surely if iPhoto is a regular shared folder in user/shared then there wont be time machine backup issues as with a disk image?
