Photoshop CS5 Bridge HTML Gallery Questions
Have upgraded to CS5 from CS3 and am trying to create HTML Web Galleries that are similar to what we have been creating in CS3.
I no longer have control of the size of the thumbnails created for the Index pages and cannot create less than 3 rows of thumbnails.
We used to create 2 rows and 4 columns of 200 pixel thumbnail images.
Is this something that can be modified if we downloaded the SDK and worked with scripting?
I have found the same problem when I went from CS3 to CS4 and continued the same problem in CS5 then I researched the "Output" and "Web Gallery" section again a little more thoroughly. Found that in almost every gallery provided there is a way to change the size and/or quantity of thumbnails in your gallery. For instance the "HTML Gallery" in the "Appearance" section you can change the size of the original picture (your larger picture) and the quantity of thumbnails that show up per page. Next you can save your changes in the "output" section under "Style:" While using the "Filmstrip" template you can change the size of your thumbnails in the "Appearance" section. Hope this helps

I cannot update Photoshop CS5, Bridge Extended after a fresh reinstall.
It's running in 32 and 64, but there's all these quirks.Like Bridge crashing in 64 but not 32. Raw also. The ATI Radeon5450 is often problematic (not capable of Open GL) In fact, I've been unable to work for a month now. Also, I can't tell if I've got Extended, I tried a downloaded install as well as from my original disk.
Here's what I have (Sorry about the size, I didn't know what might help)

Photoshop CS5 Bridge not working
I have windows 7 and cannot get the Bridge from Photoshop CS5 to work this is a real problem as most of my photographs are taken in RAW and I can't see the picture in the folder
I have tried most of the answers to this problem from the forum. Launching from start menu and through Program Files doesn't work. Not sure how to change from 64 bit to 32 bit in Windows 7
Adobe if you read this why not solve a problem instead of just bringing out a new version and expecting us to purchase this? You need to give more details. Why does it not work - error message, crash, freeze, never worked, worked yesterday?
Does it work when launched as seperate program from Bridge icon? -
I used Bridge to create a photo gallery using the HTML Gallery Template to place on a website. I need the html page that is created to have a different name than the default index.html as well as contain my own header and navigation buttons. That's easy to fix. Here's the problem. When a person clicks on a thumbnail a larger image opens up and just above that large image a person has a choice of clicking on the words Previous, Index, Next. Previous and Next work as expected taking you to the larger view of the image that is either before or after the one you are viewing. If I click on the word Index it takes me to a view of the thumbnails but not the page I had edited and renamed. Where do I find the coding to change the link for the word Index so I can change it from the default index.html to what I renamed the page to? I've found pretty much everything else but not this link. I'm sure I'm looking right at it and not seeing it!
Thanks for your help.
SueI’ve only looked at this briefly, but as far as I can tell:
The “Index” link points to index.html inside the content folder, not the index.html in the root of the web gallery folder. That’s the file you need to rename and add your extra code to.
If you rename index.html, you’ll also need to change the name throughout all the code or you’ll get a “page not found” error. This is best done with a text editor that can do multi-file find and replace, such as TextWrangler for Mac (not sure of Windows equivalent, but there must be many out there). -

The measurement tool in Photoshop CS5 Extended can accurately measure distance, area and angels in your image but did you know that you can customize the scale that you measure? Colin will show you have to use these tools and accurately measure the height of our stand-in criminal Karl Miller. Also covered will be out to print our 1:1 so that measurements can be taken from printed outputs.
http://adobe.ly/yK4Aa9Hi,

Photoshop CS5....Question!!
Hey, guys...
I currently own CS2 Premium Suite and would like to purchase Photoshop CS5 as an update.
Do I need to purchase CS5 Premium Suite or can I just purchase the CS5 update and overwrite my existing CS2 Photoshop???
Thank you.
kylumiOne last point: If you have the disk space, I recommend you don't uninstall your old software until you're sure the new software is 100% working and you're happy with it.
I don't know about the rest of the suite, but Photoshop specifically can exist in any number of versions on the same computer.

I am waiting on the phone to Customer Services as I type this....
I thought it'd be a neat idea to trial CS5 Photoshop (I'm currently on Production Premium CS4).
I did that, and now Bridge CS4 has disappeared.
I didnt' want that. And when I go to my Adobe CS4 folder under programs, it shows as Adobe Bridge CS4 but when I click on it, I get Bridge CS5
How can I restore this ??
I want to be able to have both installed and the appropriate Bridge to start up depending on whether I'm in CS4 or CS5 (not too much to ask I'd have thought).
Many thanks,
JezThanks Curt, that's really helped and saved me time. By disabling the feature you mention and exiting Bridge CS5, when I go to Photoshop CS4 and invoke Bridge, I do indeed get Bridge CS4 starting and not CS5.
Where I was 'going wrong' was keeping Bridge CS5 running minimized in my system tray which is why even Photoshop CS4 would open it up when invoked from within Photoshop.
Kind regards,
Jez -
CS5 Bridge Photo Downloader Question
Hello-
Whenever I download NEF files from my Nikon D300 I get two files per image eg. DSC1901.NEF and DSC1901.xmp
I don't understand the purpose of the .xmp file, I've never had this happen using the Nikon software.
If I trash the .xmp I see no change in any processing I do to the original file. This seems to be bothersome to me, can I stop CS5 Photo Downloader from importing the .xmp files? It's a huge amount of extra files to save when I don't access these .xmp's & cumbersome selecting through hundreds of newly downloaded files selecting the NEF's from the .xmp's. How do I stop these .xmp's from showing up in my downloaded NEF folders??? Thanks...Might be better answered in the Bridge Forum:

Hi folks,
I have a fairly simple question I would like and appreciate answered. : In previous versions of PS (before CS5 acr v6) it has been suggested to change the default settings in curves for the eyedropper settings (Shadow, midtone & highlight.). eg changing the RGB values to collapse the curve. ie Shadow: . R, G, & B to 7. and the Highlight eyedropper R, G, B to 245 respectively: . Is this still the case with ACR 6, as I remember reading somewhere that the update of acr v6 had rectified the necessity to alter the default values?. Many thanks, kkEric,
Thanks for your input. I do colour calibrate my monitors constantly, and create my own icc printer to paper profiles, (including using all the fine print recommendations in print setup.) (Spyder 3 Elite.)
I nearly always print on high gloss paper for contrast. I use top end printers, (epson & canon with highest quality papers and genuine inks). The Epson printer produces the best blacks.
I do a great deal of Macro imaging and therefore really look at shadow, midtones & highlight details at 100%, (even on the cropped final stage of the image, before printing.)
Small changes in Blacks in acr 6 usually overcome any small losses in contrast. I also do some fine adjustments in parametric curves, and as these are additive to the basic raw adjustments.
I thought that I might not need to alter the default eyedropper values in curves. What I was after was a definitive answer to whether the rehash of acr 6 and its effects on the print curve alterations had changed, overcoming ,and not necessitating changes to the eyedropper default values.
I gather from your replies that I can still alter the default values, (esp the top end: highlights) in the PS setup if I wish and ignore the changes that have been documented previously for older versions of acr. (CS5 and earlier.),{and that this area in acr 6 has remained unchanged.}
Thanks again, Ian, aka kundabungkid. -
PHOTOSHOP CS5 file saving name question (.png .jpg)
Hi,
If I open a new file and go to save it the extension names show up (.jpg or .png). However, if I open an illustrator file in Photoshop and try to save it, the extension names are not there (it's saving them as the proper format, but I want the files to have the .jpg or .png in the name without me typing them in myself).
Anyone know why this is or how I can fix it?
(I tried flattening the image first. I made sure the file is in 8bit mode. I made sure the image is a RGB file too. But still, the extension part of the name (.jpg) is not showing up). Sometimes, it works for certain .ai files, but others it doesn't. Yet, they appear to be the exact same file type. I tried restarting Photoshop and restarting the computer. Still, for certain files it doesn't work.
Please see attached picture. No, the fly window isn't hiding the file names.
For some reason, it seems to be only occurring to a set of files that I have in a certain folder. I believe I saved all these illustrator files the same way as other files (that are working properly - meaning the file extensions names are coming up for them).
Not sure why its just hiding the extension name on these certain files....? -
Photoshop CS5 bridge is a memory Hog
I am running windows 7 with 10GB of RAM. I noticed that my CPU reading will surge at times. The ram meter will show a continuous 23% RAM reading with bridge running. Is this normal?
If Bridge is building cache you will see increased demands on the CPU, but once this is done it should settle back to 0(?).
See post #4 of this thread for explaination of how cache is handled. http://forums.adobe.com/thread/652333?tstart=0 -

File size variations in Cs5, Bridge, & Mac when opening D800e raw files
I am getting extreme variations in file size when I open my D800e nefs in photoshop cs5, & Bridge. When I highlight the same nefs on my Mac(10.6.8) & "get info", I get another file size. D800e files are about 103 MB each at 8 bit, but can vary dramatically when I open them in Bridge or Cs5. Any ideas? Thanks!
Thank you for responding. I understand what you are saying. After more attempts at resizing nef files into tifs, and then restarting my computer, everything seems to be ok. However, when I make a four shot stitched pan with the D800e, I encounter the same problem even after downsizing to a more manageble file size. Each photo in the pan is originally 103MB. After resizing the 4 shots to 30MB each, I end up with a pan that is about 75MB in CS5 after cropping. When I highlight this pan & "get info" on my Mac desktop, the image size is 300-400 MB. I can ignore this for personal use, but if I have to send it to a client via the internet its a problem. I have made stitched pans with my D3s with no problem at all, so I guessing I have to switch cameras when I want to stitch shots together. If anyone has any more comments feel free!
