Photoshop CS5 Crash - Possible cause - magnetic lasso tool

Hi,
One of our artist machines has been crashing regularly and it tends to happen when the magnetic lasso tool is being utilized. I've done some research on existing CS5 crashes related to the magnetic tool and in most cases was due to the size of the file. In our case, the file sizes aren't nearly as large compared to those cases - 14098 x 11759 pixels / 8bit RGB - so I'm not sure if the magnetic lasso tool is causing the crash in our case.
I've included the crash log below, any help as to what's this would be appreciated.

That crash is not in Photoshop code, but in FinderKit - part of the MacOS that gets run inside appliation space. Unfortunately, it is also crash prone. Repairing the disk data structures with Disk Utility usually solves the problems.

Magnetic Lasso Tool Crashing Photoshop 5 (12.0.4 x64)

Hi there,
I am experiencing this frustrating crash whenever I attempt to use this tool, and I'd realy like to be able to use it!...
Initially it happened on the last graphics machine which was a HP Z800 workstation - Xeon Quad 2.8GHz, 8GB RAM, Win7Ultimatex64... but it is happening also in this new beast which is also a very powerful machine... i7 Quad 3.4GHz, 16GB RAM, Win7 x64Pro.
My job involves large multi-channel PSB and EPS files. The crash is exactly the same on both machines. I am usually zoomed in a tad, and I simply click on the canvas with the Magnetic Lasso Tool, and bam, the little 'node' on the canvas appears, joined apparently to some place evidently far off the canvas to the north-west, 10 o'clockish, and PS freezes. Same everytime, on both machines.
Photoshop has access to over 12GB of RAM, and my graphics card is brand new Gigabyte 1GB Radon HD 6800.
As some crazy old chalk-snapping scientist often asked - Why is it so?

I am thinking that this is the problem too...
For example, the image I am currently working on is a Multichannel PSB - 57195 x 26220 pixels @ 300 pix/inch
The tool works if I use it within about 2500 pix Horizontal of the 0 point, past that, it crashes 100% of the time, I haven't tested extensively to find the threshold (as the image takes a couple of minutes to load) but it's about 2500 px.
The bummer is, the area I was innitially try to use the tool on was very close to the right edge of the image!
...and the survey says... BAM BAAAW
So there you go kiddies, always save your image FIRST.. and don't use the Magnetic Lasso Tool too far from home.

Hi All
I seem to be having a problem using the Magnetic Lasso Tool In Photoshop CS3 Extended as when I get half way around an egales beak zoomed in at 66.67% and start to single click around the tight corners the photo is covered over with a white background and the palettes to the right of the Photo e.g. layers, channels, paths becomes white to and all you can see is the paths that the Magnetic Lasso Tool has made around the beak until you click any key on the keyboard but the annoying thing about doing that is that the path automatically becomes selected there for I am unable to draw the paths around the rest of the beak does anyone know of a patch of some kind that will correct this error?

We have the same exact issue here with the Polygonal Lasso tool. Get anywhere from 20-80% around an object and it hiccups once and then locks up for a moment causing you to loose whatever you've been selecting.
Symptoms include toolbars and palettes turning white and screen freezing for a moment.
Is there an official word on this from Adobe? Or better yet, a solution?

Photoshop crashing when using magnetic lasso

Photoshop keeps crashing when I use the magnetic lasso tool.

Hmm, I can't reproduce that.
I looked at the crash reports, and the crash is in a spot that's odd. I suspect something corrupted the stack before hitting the crash.
The good news is that in the next version, I have added more error checking in that area because of previous crash reports I couldn't explain.

Where can i find the magnetic lasso tool in adobe photoshop touch? i used it all the time before but suddenly cant find it please help

i started my photoshop touch after some while and now i cant find the magnetic lasso tool it used to be there i used it all the time for editting but now i cant find it maybe i disabled it somehow. can anyone tell how to enable it again?

I honestly don't remember a magnetic lasso tool. (I've been using PS Touch since version 1.0.) The closest things I can think of are the Quick Selection Tool, the Scribble Selection Tool and the Magic Wand Tool, all located under the same set of tools (3rd set from the top in the tool panel).

Adjusting magnetic lasso tool parameters on the fly in cs6

I know that it's possible to adjust the width and contrast settings on the magnetic lasso tool, as you go, using bracket hotkeys and period/comma hotkeys, respectively. However, when I try to do this, it doesn't work! The hotkeys work just fine when I am not actually using the magnetic lasso tool, but does anyone have any idea why I can't adjust them while I'm working with the tool? I have seen it done.

It seems to work here on a windows 7 x64 machine with photoshop cs6 13.01.1
In addition, the the semicolon and apostrophe keys for the frequency work as well.
If you stop moving the magnetic lasso, does that make any difference?
Are you using a tablet or mouse?
What operating system and version of photoshop cs6 are you using?
Have you applied all the latest updates by going to Help>Updates from within photoshop cs6?
Have you tried resetting the photoshop cs6 preferences?

Photoshop CS5 crashes immediately upon startup.

I just upgraded my Production Premium CS4 to Production Premium CS5. Since doing so, Photoshop CS5 crashes immediately upon startup. Photoshop CS4 still works fine, as do all of the other CS4 and CS5 products. I read that it may be a font issue but I've resolved any conflicts, and I'm still having the issue. Below is the crash report. Does anyone have any recommendations or should I just ask for a refund? I am running a Macbook Pro 17", OS 10.6.4. Neither the NVidia 6400M and the NVidia 9600M GT work. Hi Ray,
There are also a lot of reports about the 10.6.4 update causing problems with display and video cards. So even though this crash log isn't pointing to that as the cause, you have other problems to look forward to if you continue with 10.6.4. :-( Hopefully Apple is working on a fix for this pronto!

In Photoshop CS the magnetic lasso tool works to knockout the background from an image (photo). Will this tool work in Elements 13?

Magnetic Lasso tool is not working properly

The magnetic lasso tool will not quit once I select a subject with it. It literally keeps moving and just goes on drawing lines all over the page. I don't know how to stop it once I have selected something. I have used Photoshop Elements with no problems with the magnetic tool. Can anyone help with how to stop it from running wild.

Photoshop CS5 crashes when selecting print settings in print dialog box

I work on a Mac Pro desktop with OS 10.6.4. Photoshop CS5 crashes every time I try to select "print settings" in the print dialog box. I work in a large office and our networked color printer is a Konica Minolta bizhub C451. In fact, if I hit "print" it will crash whether or not I hit "print settings" first. In CS4, there was a separate menu item that allowed you to change printer settings before going into the print dialog box. That choice is gone now, you have to select it through the print dialog box.
This is the only way I can print out color proofs for my clients. Unfortunately, I do not have administrator rights to any printer (our office has about 100 people, only IT staff can fiddle with that). What can I do to get this solved?

I think I have fixed it, though I'm not sure why this worked.
System Preferences>Print & Fax. Selected the Konica Minolta printer (the B/W printer was working fine). Changed the name. Still didn't fix it. Went back selected my newly named Konica Minolta then "Open Print Queue" (like Dave said)>print settings. Change the driver to "Generic Postscript printer." I could print, but only on letter-size paper, no other options available (need tabloid). Went back to system preferences>print & fax>Konica Minolta2>open print queue>drivers then I reselected the updated printer drivers--the same one that hasn't been working.
Now, it works.

Photoshop CS5 crashes when attempting to "Manage Custom Sizes" in Epson r3000 printer dialogue window

I'm trying to print a gallery wrap image on an Epson R3000 printer using 13" wide Epson roll canvas. Every time I select "Manage Custom Sizes" in the printer's dialogue window, Photoshop CS5 crashes. I've been using Photoshop software for more than 15 years with a variety of Epson printers including Stylus Pro 7600 and this problem has never occurred previously. I can't seem to find a solution. Anyone have a suggestion? Thanks in advance!

I have managed to get the printer to work without Photoshop crashing, not sure exactly what I did. I checked for any Adobe updates which there were, so I uploaded those and then was able to print.

FinderPop released a new updated version today. It can be found at the below link. Adobe makes no promises about 3rd party software, however my limited testing does indicate that the crash on inverse selection is fixed by this latest beta drop of FinderPop.
