Photoshop cs5 crash when using the color picker since Yosemite update

Hello,
I have photoshop crashing when I use the color picker outside the canvas, like on the black background. I got this problem since I upgraded my mac with Yosemite. I got this issue on my Imac and my Macbook pro. My version of Photoshop cs3 don't have this problem.
Is there any upgrade soon for photoshop cs5 to solve this issue? It looked online and I am not the only one with this problem.
After paying 800$ for cs3 and 250$ for cs5 upgrade, I don't want to pay again for the cloud version.
Thanks,
Martin

    Photoshop CS5 crashes when trying to print. I recently updated to Mac OSX Mavericks. Help?

    Hi, Chris. Thanks for giving this query a look. I have the same problem. All documents print on my HP Deskjet 932C except Photoshop files since I updated to Mavericks.
    My CS5 version is 9.0 x64. Mavericks is 10.9.4.
    I checked the HP drivers and HP doesn't have one for OS X newer than 10.4.
    I tried printing out the detailed report (very long!) and this page rejected the reply as spam. Can we provide the text as an attachment?

  • Photoshop CS5 crashes when using certain function

    Hi,
    I have just downloaded the trial version of Adobe CS5 and it appears to crash when you use specific tools.  Particularly the program crashes when I try to perform a photomerge or view System Info.  There is no exact error message except a generic message that says Photoshop CS5 stopped operating correctly by Windows.  I have tried both the 64 bit version and 32 bit version and have performed a reinstall with no sucess.  I believe I might stand a better chance with a deletion of the registry entry but am not sure what values I should delete upon the next reinstall.
    The other issue I have is that Photoshop CS5 seems to detect my 2nd GPU and not my primary GPU which does not allow me access to hardware acceleration along with the display profile for the third monitor.  Is there a way to have Photoshop CS5 only access one GPU and not another one (the task is only being executed on the monitors being driven by the one GPU)?
    System Info:
    OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit
    CPU: Intel i7 920
    RAM: 6GB Triple Channel DDR3
    Graphics card (primary): ATi  4870 512MB GDDR5
    Graphics card (secondary - driving third monitor): Nvidia 6600GT 128MB
    No Anti-virus program or firewall is installed on this PC.  No other tasks are operating when I perform the specified tasks above.
    Thanks in advance.

    Sorry to make this thread so hastly, but I resolved the issue.  I simply disabled my 2nd video card and it is now operating properly.  Not happy about having my 3rd monitor disabled (run all other tasks not linked to Photoshop in there) so hopefully this will eventually be addressed in the future.
    Thanks.

  • Photoshop CS5 crashes when using scripts

    I thought this problem was resolved when I installed a Photoshop CS5 patch but now it's back again.
    Why does this F***ing program keep crashing when running scripts?  There ought to be a lemon law for software that doesn't work as advertised.
    I'm not alone...there are hundreds of complaints about Photoshop crashing.  Adobe - are you listening?

    Interesting to note that when a person comes in here with an attitude, using foul language, they don't get much help.  Ray, people likely understand your frustration, but the old "honey/vinegar" adage seems to apply.  Most of us "flies" around here are just users like yourself.  I don't think I'd have replied either but for the word "thanks" at the bottom of your last post.
    Look in your Windows System Event Log for information on the failures.  Post the overview information from those failures here and someone may be able to offer some further guidance.  Especially interesting will be the "faulting module" names.
    Some things to check:
    What 3rd party plug-ins do you have installed?  Do the problems continue if you remove them?
    Have you updated Photoshop to 12.0.3?
    Have you updated your video drivers to the latest released by nVidia?
    Is Windows up to date?  What version of Windows are you running, by the way?
    What are your Edit - Preferences - Performance settings?
    Something's very likely wrong with your particular computer / software setup, as most folks don't seem to be seeing the problems you are.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS4/5 Crashes when using the Move Tool

    Hello. I'm here because I'm having an issue with Photoshop.
    I was trying out CS5 when it started to crash every time I tried to use the Move Tool. It was the generic error message: "Adobe Photoshop CS4 has stopped working.
    A problem has caused Adobe Photoshop CS4 to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
    Thinking that it was a CS5 issue, I went back to my copy of CS4, only to find the same thing happening there (I also downgraded because CS5 was also crashing at other random times for some reason, but that's an issue for another time).
    This puzzles me because both were working fine before. Granted, I hadn't opened them for a while, but it was a sudden thing.
    My first impulse was to uninstall and reinstall CS4. No luck. So then, I uninstalled all third-party plugins, thinking that might be it. Still, the same problem. I started looking around on Google for solutions and found the instructions on resetting the Tool preferences (I chose to reset the preferences for ALL of the tools). When that didn't work, I tried deleting the preferences file outright, which said instructions recommended. Nothing.
    I should note that Photoshop crashes when using the Move Tool to move an object without ant lines around it, i.e., a layer. I'll move the object, and after two to three seconds, the mentioned error message will appear and Windows will close Photoshop. This, however, only seems to happen after selecting, copying, and pasting part of a large object with some variation of the Marqee Tool (thus making that part a new layer by default) while working at a zoom of 100%. So, in short, working with a large image like <a href=http://www.wallpaper4me.com/images/wallpapers/ergo_proxy_267_1280-862301.jpeg>This</a> at 100% zoom. The image linked is the image that I was using and am currently using to reproduce the problem. It is 1280x1024 pixels. I have tested this with somewhat smaller, yet comparable images too. Same problem. I have never had this problem working with large images before, and I wonder if anyone has any suggestions short of formatting my hard drive.

    Even a decent RAM upgrade is usually only a few hundred dollars nowadays, but it's not a trivially simple process.  That said, with a little research and care you can do it.  Alternatively, you can hire people (e.g., "Geek Squad") to do such an upgrade.
    First, you'll need to know what your operating system capacity is.  For example, a 32 bit Windows system can really only use up to a bit more than 3 GB of RAM, while a 64 bit Windows system can use all the RAM you can find a place to plug in.  What version of Windows are you running?
    Then you'll need to determine what RAM you have installed and what your computer's maximum RAM capacity is - usually you can do this through internet research, either by visiting your computer manufacturer's web site or doing google searches.  There are even RAM manufacturer web sites that will tell you what kind of RAM your computer needs and suggest sources, for example:
    http://www.kingston.com/
    It may be that you can just plug additional chips into currently empty sockets, or it is possible you'll need to replace the RAM chips you have installed in your computer to make room for an upgrade.  Every computer is different.
    If you list your computer model and current RAM that you have installed here, it may be that someone can help with more specific advice.

    PSE crashes when using the Detail Smart Brush  plenty of memory and speed -please advise

    I have a similar thing happening here, but on my aging iMac8,1 (3.06, 6 gigs of ram, plenty of internal and external scratch space) No wacom here, a Logitech mouse though, running via USB overdrive.
    With me it's undos that are typically causing the hang, and as such, I notice it happening and don't keep clicking around. It hangs for anywhere from 30 seconds to 3 minutes or so and then I can continue working.  Once, it was happening on a document I had open for a while, once it was occurring on a file I opened, made an errant click, and hit undo.  This was a 46.6 MB CMYK tif. I also had it occur while drawing a simple selection with the polygonal lasso - each time it would hang on the third click.  That time, it would unhang, but then the selection would be all messed up and not display what was being selected.
    Each time it happens, I see photoshop pinned at 99-100% in iStat.  Doesn't seem to be related to running out of memory, as there is usually a good amount free when it's happening.  I tried using the internal drive as the swap, and that didn't seem to matter.
    I've been forced to go back to CS5 for the time being, but would love to see this solved.  Is there any further info I could provide?

    Photoshop CS5 crashes when I try to print to Epson R2880.  Does anyone know how to resolve this?
    Thanks

    I have managed to get the printer to work without Photoshop crashing, not sure exactly what I did.  I checked for any Adobe updates which there were, so I uploaded those and then was able to print.
    Thanks for replying!

  • Photoshop CS5 crashes when you choose menu items when FinderPop is installed (Mac OS)

    FYI - Knowledge Base document was created to outline this problem and provide a solution:
    Photoshop CS5 crashes when you choose menu items when FinderPop is installed (Mac OS)
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/891/cpsid_89140.html

    FinderPop released a new updated version today.  It can be found at the below link.  Adobe makes no promises about 3rd party software, however my limited testing does indicate that the crash on inverse selection is fixed by this latest beta drop of FinderPop.

    Thanks again for your suggestion about Photoshop crashing since
    trying to print with Yosemite. I did go to the Adobe site, then the Apple Apps,
    and downloaded the new driver for the Epson Workforce 40 printer. Computer
    restarted. Unfortunately, Photoshop still crashes. But I appreciate your idea, and
    seems it should have worked. Happy Holidays!

  • Keyboard shortcut for using the color picker in another application

    Hi, I'm new here. My first post.
    I remember there were a keyboard shortcut in Ps for using the color picker in another application. For example picking a color in a web browser. I just don't remember the keyboard shortcut. Anyone know it?
    Regards,
    Leif

    Thanks! This was the method I was looking for. Unfortunately it doesn't work when I drag the eyedropper to a browser window on a secondary monitor. Maybe it has to do with my setup, Mac/Mavericks and Ps CC 2014. Anyway thanks for your help, you gave me the answer I was looking for.

  • Using the color picker component to change background is coving up the rest of the elements

    Hello,
    I am trying to learn some scripting for components.
    I have a bunch of stuff working and I got the color picker component to change the color of a movie clip and another one to change the text color.
    I have another script that does the background color, but, when I use it with this script, it covers up the other components.
    How can I use the color picker to change the background color of the stage without covering up the the movie elements?
    Here are the two scripts:
    script one-works fine on the 2 elements it is targeting
    import fl.events.*;
    import fl.events.ColorPickerEvent;
    myColPic.addEventListener(ColorPickerEvent.CHANGE,changeHandler);
    function changeHandler(event:ColorPickerEvent):void {
        var colorInfo:ColorTransform = new ColorTransform;
        colorInfo.color = event.color;
        myBox.transform.colorTransform = colorInfo;
        trace(event.target.hexValue);
    myTextPic.addEventListener(ColorPickerEvent.CHANGE,changeText);
    function changeText(event:ColorPickerEvent):void {
        var colorTypeInfo:ColorTransform = new ColorTransform;
        colorTypeInfo.color = event.color;
        myType.transform.colorTransform = colorTypeInfo;
        trace(event.target.hexValue);
    Script 2-works fine in an empty movie, but if I add it to the script above, those elements get hidden..
    import fl.controls.ColorPicker;
    import fl.events.ColorPickerEvent;
    var bg:Sprite = new Sprite();
    bg.graphics.beginFill(0x000000);
    bg.graphics.drawRect(0, 0, stage.stageWidth, stage.stageHeight);
    bg.graphics.endFill();
    addChild(bg);
    var colorPicker:ColorPicker = new ColorPicker();
    colorPicker.addEventListener(ColorPickerEvent.CHANGE, colorPicker_change);
    colorPicker.move(10, 10);
    addChild(colorPicker);
    function colorPicker_change(evt:ColorPickerEvent):void {
        bg.graphics.beginFill(evt.color);
        bg.graphics.drawRect(0, 0, stage.stageWidth, stage.stageHeight);
        bg.graphics.endFill();
    Granted, I they are changing colors differently, but I am not sure how to change the stage color any other way with this component.
    any thoughts out there?
    thanks
    babs

    Thanks kglad!!!

    Nobody can tell you anything without proper system info or other technical details. The standard answer with all text issues simply is, that you have a "bad font" on your system and need to get rid of it.

    I have tried in-installing safari but it seems not to help. I have tried installing it to a third, newly installed pc and come to the same result.
    All PCs are fully up-to-date as it regards Microsoft and Apple patches. Any ideas as to why this might happen?

    Still having the same problem. Ever the optimist, I submit the following info.
