Photoshop CS5 - custom shapes edges pixelated when rotated

After changing my monitor i found that all shapes pixelated when rotated 45 degree, any help?

What do they look like if you view your document at 100% view (actual pixels)?
What operating system?
Do you have Enable Open GL Drawing checked under Prerferences>Performance in photoshop cs5?
Is the monitor the same size and/or the resolution different than the old monitor?

  • Shape gets pixelated when rotated

    Hello,
I created a logo for a client and I'm having an issue where when I rotate a shape created with the rectangle tool, the edges become pixelated. Attached is the logo. You can see what I'm talking about with the red rectangle. How can I go about fixing this? Thanks in advance for any help!

The Anit-Aliased Artwork is ticked. Here's what it looks like when you zoom in. As you can see, the yellow-orange shape has smooth edges, whereas the red doesn't.

  • Photoshop CS5 (under Windows 7) crashes when I try to print

    Hi,
I am running 64-bit Photoshop CS5 Extended upgraded to current version (12.0.4).
When I try to print, every single time, I get the following error immediately:
         > Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working
Windows is checking for a solution to the problem
    and then shortly after
         > Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.
Quite infuriating. My printer works fine. I can print photos to it from Lightroom no problem (which, in this occasion, I had to do - saved from PS, imported to LR, then printed... very efficient!!).
I note there are other posts on this but they seem to be mostly Mac and also many seem to cure by upgrading to 12.0.4.
I am a relatively light user (keen amateur not professional) so I don't use PS regularly. However this also means it is pretty much an out-of-the-box install since I don't tinker with it either. It's so long since I last used it I can't remember if I had this problem last time - I vaguely recall having had it sometimes but not others. Doesn't seem to matter whether the file I opened is a JPG or a PSD (the only two I have tried).
    Any help out there?
    Thanks
    Alastair

So if we have say, 10 or so printers with 10 different drivers and every application works with every printer, including Photoshop.
And we apply an update to Photoshop.
And now Photoshop crashes everytime we print regardless of what printer we pick, but a previous version of Photoshop is still able to print.
Do all the printer drivers suddenly have bugs . . . or could it possibly be the common denominator, i.e Photoshop, that has the bug?
Everyone who is having this issue of Photoshop crashing when you try to print after a change/update.
    Try this:
DO NOT MERELY ATTEMPT TO PRINT EXISTING FILES.
Start a fresh document and attempt to print that.
If you can print any file created AFTER the change/update but cannot print any files created BEFORE the change/update, this indicates that Photoshop is retaining file attributes that are not compatible with printing after the change/update.
How can these attributes be replaced with compatible attributes? Changing the default printer as mentioned above may do the trick.

  • Photoshop cs5 says "Place" is unavailable when I try to batch process from bridge, does anyone know what's going on?

I am trying to batch process my watermark from bridge.  I have a saved action in photoshop cs5 and have used it for a while and all of the sudden it says "place" is unavailable.  I have reset bridge and photshop and restarted the computer.  Do actions get corrupt?

That is a very common error message actions produce when  for some reason the document current state does not support the command or feature used in the action step that gets the error.  With our seeing a screen capture of the error message and being able to see the document window, the layers palette and the actions palette   Its not possible to tell you why the actions is getting that error message.  Most likely its because of the document current state. For example place is not valid for a bitmap mode document.

  • Indesign cs5 custom shapes curved corners

We have recently upgraded our offices Adobe from CS3 to CS5 and for the most part have found it a pain free experience.
However I have one issue which I cannot find any solution to from any online source (I've used every combination of frame/shape/corner & much more with cs5).
This image is a custom rectangle I have created a hundred times before on CS3. Previously if I wanted to create this shape, with its nice smooth curves on each corner I would start by creating a rectangle, convert the shape to a rounded rectangle and then add two extra points on the top and left edge, before moving the top right corner point in. The new points would also contain this inbuild corner and it would sit very easily and nicely. Holding down shift would maintain the shapes right-angle integrety and all would be well with the world.
However, with CS5, I get this monstrosity!
As soon as I add extra points to the shape, the corner points split from into two,  and the curve I want to end up with has become fixed in the 'reverse' position (meaning a whole lot of potential messing with angles is potentially required), but even worse it has also lost the knowledge that the whole shape is meant to be curved, as my new points now don't want to behave like the rest.
This was once a  simple task for me which I required regularly for laying out brochure spreads, but which now seems impossible to my admittedly non-expert eye. I feel sure that there must be a way around it but I cannot find it anywhere - all the demo's want to do is helpfully show me how you can now adjust one corner, whilst leaving the others in tact. That's a great feature, but as its limited to a 4 sided shape, what do you do if you have 6 sides as above, and want to maintain smooth edges throughout?
Any help in solving this would be gratefully appreciated.

I'm happy to adjust any workflow to make this work, but that doesn't work unfortunately.
When you move the corner into the middle of the shape the shape changes from a rectangle to a triangle like shape (depending how far you move it), because there are no additional points to hold the remainder of the two sides in shape.
Doing exactly what you said creates these... left is a shape, right is a frame.
Going to corner options doesn't do anything at that point, it won't curve and even if it did it still wouldn't be the shape I'm after.

  • Photoshop CS5 bug - shape layers icons disappear

So I'm having this normal PSD when suddenly all the shape layer icons disappear and nothing seems to work to get them back. (I've tried restarting photoshop, computer, open the PSD from another PC) They work like they are there, double click and all that but just the icons are missing. It's not the first time happening and I noticed it happens after the layers get's a lot. Anyone has a fix for that?

If you click on the fly-out menu icon at the upper-right of the Layers panel, then choose Panel Options, then choose a different sized icon, do they reappear?
Only other thing that comes to mind is to update your display driver by visiting the web site of the manufacturer of your video card (e.g., nVidia.com or ATI.com) and locating the driver package that matches your hardware and operating system.
Can you make a small PSD file (e.g., by cropping your master file quite a bit) and post it online?  Others could try opening it and seeing if the icons are there.

  • Photoshop CS5.1 Trial Version Crash When Opening File

I just downloaded it last night. I went to try it out this morning, but it crashes when I try to open a file. I then can not open the software back up until I enter task manager and end photoshop processes that run in the background. I am running on Windows Vista.

Yes, I recieve a crash dialog. Looks just like this. If I select "Check online for solution", the typical "checking online" that would occur (opening up a page in the browser) never happens. Instead, it just "closes the program", in which, the photoshop window is then closed. HOWEVER. If I try to restart the program, it will never restart. The window never opens, and task manager never shows an application occuring.Just like this. Curiously, I go under the PROCESSES tab, where I find either 2 or 3 photoshop processes running in the background. It is not until I end these processes that I can then restart & reopen photoshop.

  • Photoshop CS5 doesn't find update 12.04 when I click updates.

I currently have Photoshop CS5 12.03 loaded and when I click Help>Updates it says my applications are currently up to date.  What's up with that.  I know that there is a 12.04 because I just loaded for a friend on his computer.
I also have a second problem with the 64 bit version of Photroshop CS5.  It won't use the pen pressure with my Wacom tablet.  When you go to the dialog box for Shape Dynamics it shows a little triangle with the exclamation point inside and it says you have to have a pressure sensitive tablet to use pen pressure.  I have the lastest driver from Wacom and it also works just fine in the 32 bit version of Photoshop.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I had the same problem on Win 7 64 bit: no updates were found and my system was reported as up to date. I started to update manually and received a message that it was preferable to update directly from Photoshop using the application manager. I then installed the latest version of this program and then Photoshop was able to find the Ver 5.0.4 update and install it.

  • Photoshop cs5 64-bit hangs all the time when editing photos on Win 7 64-bit?

Recently installed Master Suite Collection CS5 on Win 7 64-bit.  The computer is a 64-bit i5-480 CPU Lenovo and has an Intel HD GPU.  Photoshop CS5 64-bit hangs constantly when I load a picture for editing and there is no way to get rid of the photoshop process except for a reboot.  Have tried PSkill, and other options and nothing can get rid of it excetp for a re-boot.  This is a major pain because I cannot get any work done.
The Master Suite cost me a fortune and can't get a basic application to work properly
    Help!!!

Let me first start by saying the Intel GPU drivers that implement OpenGL are often faulty.  That's quite possibly the root cause of your problems.
If you reconfigure Photoshop not to try to use the OpenGL subsystem, via Edit - Preference - Performance, and unchecking the [ ] Enable OpenGL Drawing checkbox, does it get any better?  Make sure to close and restart Photoshop after making this configuration change.
It is possible Intel has released newer drivers that may have corrected the OpenGL problems.  Check their web site.

  • Photoshop CS5 crashing my Mac when resizing large images

I don't have much to explain this further but Photoshop CS5 is crashing my Mac when I resize large images.  Small images are fine but large 300dpi images crashes it without warning.  Don't know what to do.  The only other similar thing is After Effects CS5 is crashing my Mac when I trim a clip.  It completely turns off my Mac when I trim a clip.
I have 8gigs of Ram and am running 27" iMac Core i5
Any help would be much appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Hal

    Hi Wendy
Thank you for your insights. We are having the same problems here.
It's been a headache as we bought two 27" iMacs in March 2011; and we've had even BOTH iMacs exchanged.
After exchanging, same thing happened. We then got all 16GB of RAM on each iMac replaced.
But we noticed that the auto-shutdown problem happens with files on 300dpi. We are contemplating on changing them to 299dpi though haha!
Unfortunately, here in Singapore, we don't have a physical Apple store. We only have Premium Resellers.
And the other unfortunate thing is, when RAMs are upgraded these Premium Resellers sell 3rd party RAMs.
I supposed we'll have to deal with this for now until we have enough funds to replace ALL 32 RAMs to original Apple RAMs (which will cost abt another USD1600!!) ..
Hope this forum helps others as much as it finally helped me understand the issue we're having.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 Trial "Stopped working"

Hello all. I am new to adobe photoshop and was wondering if anyone could help me. I have finished downloading and installing Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 (the trial) and when I try to open a picture or do anything else I receive a pop up telling me Adobe Photoshop has stopped working. It them closes me out. I have tried several times and receive the same results. I noticed that a lot of people seem to have the same problem but I did not see a solution. I have contacted customer support and they told me to check the forums and that I would have to talk to a technical support team. I cannot find any answers nor the right customer support representative to help me.
If anyone has any idea how to fix this problem please let me know for my trial has already started and I do not wish to waste my trial days on this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Deidra6655 for your first step to resolve your difficulties I would recommend downloading and running the Adobe Support Advisor.  It will review your installation log and attempt to locate the appropriate solution.

  • Photoshop CS5 creates file and then doesn't allow me to open it.

I created a file on Photoshop CS5, saved it, and now when I try to open it says: "Could not complete your request because the file is not compatible with this version of Photoshop." How can I open the file? How come the same program cannot open its own file? Can anybody help me with this? Thanks.

That can happen in any version of Photoshop and it can be for one of at least two reasons:
1.— The file was over 2 GB in size and was saved as a PSD rather than a PSB file; or
2.— The file got corrupted.  This can happen when attempting to work across a network or with Norton Anti Virus (NAV) running on your computer.
Always work locally.  To open a file stored on a network volume, copy the CLOSED file in the Finder to your local hard drive first, then open the local file.  Once you are done working on the image, save the file on your local hard drive, close it and copy the CLOSED file back to the server.
Sometimes, Illustrator or GraphicConverter can recover the flattened composite in a corrupted file if you're lucky, but the layers will be toast.
If the file was indeed over 2 GB and saved as a PSD rather than a PSB, I know of no way to open it.
Give us some more details of the history of the file and maybe someone else will have other ideas.

  • Photoshop CS5 x64 crashing while editing layer styles

    Hey there,
I searched and seeked through the whole interweb, but hardly anyone seems to have ever had such a problem, so I am guessing this is the right place to ask and hopefully be helped . Short version is: Photoshop CS5 (x64) is constantly crashing when editing a layer style.
I recently installed my CS5 Design Premium on a new laptop (Fujitsu Lifebook AH351) and am having severe problems with Photoshop CS5. On first run everything was fine, and it kept that way for a while. Now everytime I try to edit a layer style Photoshop crashes immediately. I do not need to alter anything, just open the layer style, press OK and Photoshop is gone. I can workaround by resetting preferences which works until next reboot, no matter if I change ANYTHING on the settings or not. Had tried this on the initial PS release and on the latest update (12.0.4). Once I reset settings again, I can work on layer styles again. Did anyone of you have a similar problem or a hint at what I might look?
The Lifebook has a decent feature which I suspect to somehow be the culprit of this case: it has an onboard graphics unit and a separate GPU (nVidia GForce GT 525M) which can be added in on a program-to-program basis. Photoshop indeed recognizes it and lets me activate OpenGL features as well, so from that point it seems fine. The internal GPU cannot be disabled since you connect your monitors to it.
    Some data about my system:
    Fujitsu Lifebook AH531
    Intel® Core™ i5-2410M
    RAM: 8 GB DDR3 1333 MHz
    750 GB SATA HDD 5400 U/Min
Windows 7 Home Premium x64 (up to date)
    NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 525M with 1GB VRAM
    Photoshop CS5 x64
    no plugins in use/installed
no settings changed, not even shortcuts
    Thanks in advance

Funny replying to myself repeatedly. It seems I have found the problem with no solution in sight. My findings are as follows:
I am running two external monitors on my laptop (HDMI and VGA), the laptop screen is off. If I unplug one screen, Photoshop is fine with me. No crashes.
In nVidia settings you can choose what GPU is being used for specific programs. Changing it to the internal one, Photoshop is fine with me. No crashes. Crappy performance.
I came to the idea of it having to do with dual monitors in my long way through help forums, and one thread here (on problems with 4 monitors) suggested to disable the ScriptingSupport.8li via re-naming which didn't work for me nonetheless. Now it seems up to me whether I'd love to farewell either my powerful GPU or my second monitor for working with Photoshop.
Still, does anybody have a notion of what else I could possibly do? I won't assume Fujitsu to offer a fix for this, since it is hard to track down precisely where the problem comes from.
    All the best
    enoversum
Edit: BTW, Windows settings confirm both screens are handled by/connected to the internal GPU, no matter what Photoshop is using ultimately. That seems like normal behaviour, and I cannot switch since the two ports are on the internal card.

  • Edit in Photoshop CS5 Prompt Inconsistent

I've recently noticed that the prompt window which ask what to edit (Edit a Copy with Lightroom Adjustments, etc.) when going to Photoshop CS5 is only popping up with some images. It use to be it would open every time I went into Photoshop CS5 from Lightroom 4. When I get the prompt I have choices. When I don't get the prompt it opens the image with all the Lightroom adjustments, but sometimes that not what I want other than going outside of of Lightroom and into Photoshop directly.
I'm running Lightroom 4.2 and Photoshop CS5 12.0.4 on OSX Lion. Also, I recently had to run a fix on a corrupt catalog. For those who are aware of the corrupt catalog issue I had it repaired via Dan Tull.
    Any solution would be appreciated.
    Thanks, Devin

Since you are using Lightroom 4 with Photoshop CS5, ACR isn't fully compatible with Lightroom.  When editing raw images, Lightroom will warn you unless you choose not to show that warning again.  If you make that choice, then whatever choice you made at that time will be the one that is used.  If you open a JPEG or a TIF image, Lightroom will always ask if you want to edit a copy with Lightroom adjustments, etc..  So if you have made the choice not to display the "raw warning" again, then you won't have that warning when opening raw images.  But you will always be given those other choices when opening non-raw images.
