Photoshop CS5 Droplet Issues

So I have to pose this question to you all since we are having a rather massive problem at my work here with this. The company I am working for is a large automotive restoration parts company and we have 7 full vehicle catalogs. Here is a bit of the explanation to what is we are doing.
Basically what is happening is that we use droplets to convert images to CMYK profile for our printer, create a web jpg and thumbnail and place it in the appropriate folder for being transferred to our database. The action we are using for this is as follows.
Save For DB and Web
Save- to a location on our server
Convert Mode- RGB for web
Image size- to reduce the size for web
Export- as jpg for web
Image size- reduces size for thumbnail image for web
Export- adds _thumbnail behind part number
Close
We have 5 different droplets that do basically the same thing in the end. Our work flow here is nothing special but here is now it work. All images are placed on a server(Apple server running Snow Leopard Server 10.8.6) for use in our catalog(linked in to Indesign) all as EPS. For the web jpgs the images are transferred into a large folder which once a week or so we run a bulk loader in our database software for use with our website. Images are transferred to the web server and all is deleted once it database has the image imported.
Now here is the problem. Randomly the droplets will not make one or more of the files when it runs. Most of the time it is perfect and has no issues. Sometimes it will create the EPS and not the jpgs, other times it will create only the thumbnail and others just the EPS and web but no thumbnail. It is just random and across 5 different droplets(only difference between them is where the EPS is saved to, the jpgs are saved to the same place in all of them). We recently updated all the droplets to CS5 .app extension as before we though the issue was because we were running CS3 created droplets but the issue has not changed. I am running them on both an iMac and Mac Pro, both running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and they both have this issue. I am running the latest version of CS5 with all updates(have CS6 on order and will be trying that shortly). No once else has this issue like I do but I am running the most images on the droplets to place in the database so I think that is why I am seeing the most errors. One of my former coworkers was having this issue for years before I worked here and he was having them until his last day here. I am at a loss but I have a feeling that it has to do with the Apple Server that the department is using. I am not an apple fanboi at all and dislike using apple products but it is what I have to do in order to get work done so I continue to do it. So unless the computer knows I dislike it and is doing this as a form of revenge it has to be something. I personally think it is the server but I wanted to though out there to see what others think it could be.
I decided to make new droplets from scratch and have them saved onto a difference server as well as the original to see if it is a server. The second server that I am saving to has been perfect, while the normal server that is supposed to be is having issues. The server is the same controller, but has different RAID banks. The second server is limited access to only me and the other photographer I work with and is just a backup server.
Anyone have any ideas on what is going on or has encountered this issue before?
Nick

Yes, open a raw file with Photoshop's Camera Raw, then move the sliders around - e.g., Shadows, Highights, Blacks, Whites, to bring the extreme parts of the exposure in.
It's surprising what results can be gotten from a single raw file:

  • Photoshop CS5 HDR Issues

    Hi,
I've been using HDR with Photoshop CS5 for quite some time, and I'm now switching to CS6, but am having some troubles that I've never had before.
Here's a rundown of what's happening. First, I go to file -> automate -> merge to HDR
I then make the changes to gamma, exposure, etc. I leave the 16-bit and local adaptation alone; I've never changed any of that before. Someone mentioned how that could be an issue, but I never adjust any of that. After making the desired edits of colors, exposure, etc., I hit process. I'll show here what I get in the "preview" window where all of the work is being done, and then what the end result is.
    Preview window:
What it comes up with after:
Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

  • Photoshop CS5 Clipboard Issue (Win 7)

I have a copy of PS CS5 installed and i can only paste an image that i copied from before the program was started. When Ps is already started and I copy an image and try to paste it in PS it will paste the image I copied before I started the program not the one I just copied...
It's a pretty annoying situation... not being able to copy and paste once the program is running. I have to shut it down, start it up again to paste the image I want...
    Anybody a solution?
    I work on: Win 7 ultimate 64 bit - i7 - 8 gigs ram

Are you guys sure this isn't a PS 64 bug?
It's clearly a bug with something.  But even though you're seeing it in multiple places, please rest assured it doesn't happen for everyone using Photoshop CS5 x64.
Shall we go about describing the differences between your systems (plural) and systems NOT experiencing the problem?
What applications do you have installed.  What antivirus?  What programs are starting when you boot up / log in?
Here's what's starting on my x64 system (courtesy Autoruns), on which the clipboard works just fine:
    AdobeAAMUpdater-1.0 (Adobe Updater Startup Utility)
WebDriveTray (part of the WebDrive application for providing access to FTP sites via drive letters).
    avast5 (Avast! Antivirus)
StartCCC (ATI/AMD's Catalyst 10.8 video driver control center)
vmware-tray (part of the VMware Workstation virtualization application)
Outlook.lnk (Outlook 2003 eMail client starts up when I log in)
ShellFolderFix.lnk (a small applet called ShellFolderFix that helps position Explorer windows when first opened)
    Skype (audio/chat communications program)
WizMouse (a small applet that directs mouse wheel events to whatever app the mouse is over)
Here are my non-Microsoft shell extensions and drag/drop handlers (courtesy Autoruns and ShellExView):
ACE (AMD Desktop Control Panel, part of Catalyst 10.8 video drivers)
    avast (Avast! Antivirus Shell Extension)
CirrusShellEx (provides right-click access to the Beyond Compare 3 file comparison application)
ClassicCopyExt (part of the ClassicShell application that adds enhanced dialogs to copy/move operations)
Create ISO Image from directory (part of the ISO Recorder application that provides access to ISO files)
TortoiseSVN (provides right-click access to Tortoise Subversion)
WebDrive (manages drive letters connected by the WebDrive FTP access application)
There are other things, such as services, that could be involved, but let's start by comparing your systems to these and let us know what's common between them but different from the above lists.

  • Photoshop CS5 - Compatibility issue with nested groups

I'm using Photoshop CS5 to create a multi-layered, group-heavy PSD. The final file is intended for public consumption, so, ideally, I'd like it to be accessible to as many users - and therefore compatible with as many versions of Photoshop - as possible.
However, I just tried to save the file, and was prompted with this message:
This document contains nested layer groups that may change in apprearance if opened in applications older than Photoshop CS5.
Opening the file in CS4 after the save confirmed that a few of the layer groups were indeed corrupt.
Can anyone shed any light on this?

It looks like you're the only person so far who's posted that particular message on the web anywhere!
Out of curiosity, do you have the Maximize PSD and PSB File Compatibility option set to Always in Edit - Preferences - File Handling?
I have no experience with nested groups, myself, but that setting comes to mind as being involved with the kind of compatibility you're hoping to accomplish.
I do know that nested group capabilities have been around since at least Photoshop CS2.

  • Photoshop CS5 Video issues. NEED Help ASAP

I created a video using Adobe Photoshop CS5. In Photoshop, the video is crisp and clear. After I export the video into an "MP4 H.26 Best quality 30 or 48 fps 1920x1080 HD" video, part of the video looks clear, but as soon as the movement occurs, the picture becomes pixilated. I've tried everything that I can think of. I have a still picture in the back ground. There is rain coming down from the top, an object moves across the bottom, and another object "floats" in the air (little up and down movement). Before the rain comes down, everything is clear. Even after the rain (I created) comes down, the movement across the bottom is clear (a video loop from videoblocks.com). But after the rain starts to come down, the still background image (I created) begins to look pixilated, and the "floating" object (Icreated) becomes blurry as well. At first I thought it had something to do with the way I had the rain come down...but in Photoshop, the playback is very clear. Does anybody have any idea how i can save this video without it looking this way? I need an answer ASAP, PLEASE.
    Thank you!!!!
    Mariposa416

I gave the settings I used in exporting the Adobe Photoshop CS5 video. I want to know how I should change my settings. I may be creating the video all wrong or using the wrong product. I had a photoshop file with layers. I wanted the rain to fall out of the sky, so i made a video with the raindropd falling at a tween of 20 and I had like 380 frames after that. I could figur out how to get another layer to  move at a different pace, so I exported the video (many times until i could get it as clear as possible). Then i added the video back in, and added in another layer (the one that was floating in the sky). No matter which setting I used to export the video, it wasn't as crisp as I was looking for. I exported the video and iserted it back in for the movement across the bottom. That came out really clear (but it came from http://videoblocks.com). Do you or anyone else know which is the best settings for me to use in Photoshop CS5? Or is there another program i could use to makke clear videos?
I want the video to be as original as possible.

  • Photoshop CS5 Saving Issues

    Hey,
So I have a drawing that I drew up in CS5.  In this drawing, the layers that I am trying to save as a .jpeg file are without a background color.  I am experiencing a problem where when I go to save the image as a .jpeg (or any file type), for some reason photoshop throws in a white background after the save which is not wanted and not part of the image.  I just want it to save my image with no background color.  I have been able to do this before without having this problem, so I have no clue what could be going on.  If it helps, I can upload the .jpeg file.  Does anyone have any ideas?

Saving a jpeg is like saving a flattened file, so the jpeg format doesn't support transparency.
You can save the file to a format that does support transparency such as psd, tiff or png.
For use on the web png works well.

  • Photoshop CS5, Performance Issues

Just got a brand new PC at work, and i am experiencing some very strange lagging issues in photoshop.  I'll go more indepth in a minute.  My system setup is as follows:
    Windows 7, 64
    Intel i7-2600, Sandy Bridge
    16g of ram
Quadro 2000, using 2 24in LED Samsung monitors at 1920x1200
    Two LITEONIT-LAT128M2S SSD Drives
All memory resident programs arent even installed, like antivirus and whatnot.
I am currently running the 4/26/11 Quadro performance drivers, as these are WHQL and Adobe/Nvidia certified.  I have also tried the latest Nvidia drivers and experienced the same issues.
I see the issues with OpenGL on and off, and combination of all settings.  I see ZERO performance issues in any other applications i run - Adobe apps are all that I am having issues with atm.
In the 32 and 64bit exe's (doesnt matter which, though the issue seems MUCH worse in the 64bit exe) i will experience consistent lag in the application with or without a file open.   The menus and cursor will slow to a crawl for about 5 seconds, and then pick back up again. This happens with and without files open.
I have tried moving my page file between drives, i have tried shutting all windows aero enhancements off, all in combination with turning openGL support on and off.  I have also rebooted between each change.
I also experience an IDENTICAL issue when i open up the CS3 exe.
I also experience IDENTICAL issues with Illustrator, only when rendering bitmap effects to any SVG drawing.
Does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong?  This PC should be an absolute monster with adobe software, however my current work experience is nothing short of frustrating.

    Noel,
Yes, brand new installation.  I cut out all the extra startup processes once i started to see this issue.  There is no antivirus running because i disabled it.  I have only about 50 essential windows processes running currently, and stripped them out one by one hoping that one of them was the culprit.
There are no newer bios/motherboard updates currently.
There are no processes currently running that are taking up any significant resources.
    Any other ideas?

  • Photoshop CS5: droplet to action?

I made several actions that I also saved as droplets for a project Im working on. Photoshop crashed before I saved all the new actions but i have the droplets still. They still work (obviously) but Id like to have the actions as well as just the droplets. I know how to make an droplet out of an action but can you get the info from a droplet to make it back into an action? I know Im geeking out I just like to keep all the actions I make because I use a them frequently for different things and will make just little tweaks

Here is a scripting package written by xbytor called xtools.
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/ps-scripts/files/
Inside the folder called apps is a DropletDecomplier.jsx.
It's a java script that makes an action or script from a droplet.
Ther are lots of other useful scripts included also.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS5 trial issue

I extracted the files succesfully, but when i try and run the setup it shows up as running in the processes tab of task manager, but not in the applications window and it doesnt load onto the screen, i cant find any fixes anywhere else. I am using windows 7 home premium, i tried running as administrator and using different compatability modes as well as redownloading, not sure where to turn.....help

You have an install of another app or Windows Update running at the same time. This can happen when updates never finished or otehr programs were not installed/ uninstalled properly. Look for instances of msiexec.exe in your task manager and kill them, then try again. for everything else, reading this and this may offer some ideas.

  • Droplet cannot communitcate with Photoshop CS5

Droplet cannot communitcate with Photoshop CS5  ... that is the error.
    Win7 64-bit ,  LRv3.6 , CS5  Updated   ... Dell i7 Desktop with 24gb and SSD on OS
The Action in CS5 works, BUT, when I create a Droplet , it does NOT work ... the EXPORT and run droplet out of LRv3.6  saves a PSD file , but then cannot communicate with CS5 to run the Action within CS5  ... in LRv3.6 I can see the newly created  PSD file but nothing is changed to it.
I tried to drop a PSD file on it , it does not work.
Here is the "Strange" part  ...   have the same set up on my ASUS Laptop (no SSD)  with 8gb   ...  and the Exact same Action and converted DROPLET  works!    ... when I drop a PSD file on it, it works
I tried to move the Droplet to the Dell Desktop with the SSD but NOOOO it does not work
Seems to be PS CS5 on my one Desktop computer cannot generate a  DROPLET that communicates with PS CS5.
    Can someone please help me?
    Thank you,
    HG

    R_Kelly,
In Win7  ... from the start  (probably because when I made the flip to Win7 it was with i7 computers (Desk and Laptop)  I have ONLY run 64-bit.
So, I have ONLY run 64-bit  on LR and PS CS5.
    Here's the twist , info  ... that might help other's  ... I hope.
My i7 ASUS laptop 8gb was always  Win7 64-bit from the start ... I only had to upgrade it from Home to PRO.
My i7 Dell Desktop 24gb tri-channel (which is where I have the issue)  weny from a Dell installed  VISTA 64-bit Home Prem, to Win7 64-bit Home Prem , to Win7 PRO  ... I "just" did a Clean install with a conversion to SSD on my OS  , so all my programs are re-installed. And things run much faster on this Desktop (but my Laptop is surprisingly fast).   note: when I re-installed , went thru the whole upgrade path, because I had a eSATA external port issue that needed (and was) to be resolved with the Dell disk.
    But, as I said ... it's working  ... not great , but working  ...
Learned a few things (from 3 hours tinkering)   ... on the Export to a CS5 Droplet  from LRv3.6  the first thing it does is does a save to PSD (well, given the export flow) , then it goes into PS CS5  (I normally have it open already) ... and then runs the Droplet.
So, my BIG error is  recording the Action in CS5  with a DNG (ctrl+E from LRv3.6)  ... interesting that my Laptop did not have that issue , AND I could not use the Droplet created from my Laptop on my Desktop either.  Strange.
Oh, I just remembered something ... On my laptop ,  I "might" have activated  Win7 's ability to run 32-bit old programs  ... it was a while ago  ... and I think you had to load that separatly , it's not automatic.  AND, I did not do that for the Desktop.  Hmmmmmm
R_Kelly,   Thank you for the Help and Food for Thought.

  • How do I resolve issues with missing layers when opening a Tiff file from Photoshop CS5.1?

I am downloading Tiff images from a partners website. After extracting the file and opening from Photoshop CS5.1 it's only displaying one of the original image layers. For example and image with two guys shaking hands in an office is only opening the clipped two guys and not showing the backgroud. The vendor says the files open fine on their end which leads me to believe its a download or photoshop issue. Any recommendations?

Thanks Curt... I don't think my explanation was clear. I'm downloading an image from an external webiste. The image downloads in a ZIP archive. After extracting from the Zip file, I go into photoshop and do file open. Only part of the image appears. It looks as if it's the top layer of a photoshop image but since I didn't build the image, I'm not certain it was built with multiple layers. Any ideas?
