Photoshop CS5 Extended NOT in CS5 Production Premium?

Hi!
A few days ago I purchased CS5 Production Premium. I already had Photoshop CS5 installed and registered on my PC. However, after installing Production Premium I still have Photoshop CS5, but not Extended. I checked again on the What's Is Production Premium page, and sure enough Photoshop Extended is listed right below "What's Inside" near the bottom of the page. I did not uninstall Photoshop prior to installation as I don't recall being told to anywhere.
Just for kicks I started the install process again and stopped to look at the programs being installed. Photoshop CS5 (64bit) is listed, not CS5 Extended. If I click on the Photoshop.exe icon that is in the either of the Adobe folders (rather than using the Start menu, just to be sure), one in the Program Files (x86) for the 32bit apps, and the other in the Program FIles for the 64bit apps, I still don't have Extended for either version.
I also noticed the modified dates of those Photoshop folders are from close to my original Photoshop CS5 installation date. Nothing was changed when I installed the Production Premium package.
Also, I was emailed four serial numbers (two are numeric only, the other two much longer and contain letters and numbers). However, during the install only one was ever entered. Besides Photoshop I've only tried Premier Pro, After Effects, and Illustrator and they all seem fine.
What should I do to get Extended working?

That did the trick! Thanks for the quick response.
Weird thing is that the Deacitvate option was greyed out on the 64bit version. I looked in the 32bit version and it was available there. I permanently deactivated it, exited Photoshop (32bit) to check the 64bit version again. This time a CS5 Production Premium window appeared with the option to install Photoshop CS5 Extended. I clicked install and Photoshop opened up almost immediately; all Extended options now available.

  • CS5.5 Master Collection and Production Premium -- is the 32-bit license separate?

The CS5.5 Master Collection and Production Premium include a license for 32-bit Premiere Pro and After Effects. As I understand it, this 32-bit license can be used on a separate computer (and another user) simultaneously with the 64-bit version. Is this correct?

Yes, that could be the answer ... but in all other aspects, this package is treated as TWO separate products -- I have it listed as two products at my Adobe product page, I've got two separate registration "rewards". And I remember a couple of months ago it was mentioned in the Premier Pro or After Effects forum by one of the heavy contributors (I haven't been able to find it again, though). That's why I'd like an "official" answer (I'm in no doubt, that i is possible and it will work, but I'm curious if it follows the rules)

  • Photoshop CS5 Extended - Not starting after many years of use.

I have Photoshop CS5 Extended. I have had this programme several years now,  which I use on my Mac. 10.7.5. I have today tried to open an image in my photoshop and is giving me all sorts of trouble. What can the problem be?

  • Photoshop CS3 Extended upgrade to CS5?

Tried asking the online chat to answer this simple question . . .  the person really didn't understand what I was asking.
So here it goes, the complex question of —
Will a regular CS5 upgrade work for a CS3 Photoshop Extended version or not?

    Mylenium,
It was purchased from a big box store the US (years ago) and has a sticker on it saying "Only for distribution in North America."
It is for use in America, and so is my SC3 Extended version currently installed on my computer.
Both versions are for the Mac OS.
The system requirements are not of importance since my computer meets them all. The upgrade box says nothing about "CS3 or up."
The only mention of an upgrade on the entire box is on the side stating — "UPGRADE from an relier version. To install this upgrade version, you must have an eligible earlier version of this product. Before opening this package, check with your reseller about its return policy and your upgrade eligibility, or visit www.adobe.com/go/upgradeinfo for eligibility information."
So, here I am, trying a webpage that doesn't exist anymore and trying to find answers here . . . . .
Will this normal, regular, run-of-the-mill CS5 Photoshop upgrade work on a CS3 Extended version?
Is Photoshop CS3 Extended an "eligible earlier version of this product" for the CS5 upgrade?

  • Is CS5 extended compatible with Epson products? I cannot select printer settings.

I've had this problem for a very long time with multiple Epson printers. This problem only applies to Adobe products as other image editing software work fine. The printer settings button does not work in Photoshop so I cannot select paper type or any of the other settings. Adobe blame the problem on Epson and Epson blame the problem on Adobe but the bottom line is, I'm left holding the bag as I paid a lot of money for these products and they don't work together. At least Epson will answer the phone and try to help. Adobe do "NOTHING" for you! I've been on here before with this problem with my last Epson Printer. It was a Stylus Photo 1270 and I was told by some wise guy that "it was a 13 year old printer, what do I expect." Well I have a brand new Epson R 3000 and I have the same problem. I'm using CS5 Extended and have all the latest drivers. Here is a link talking about this problem but it doesn't give any solution that works for me: Print settings option unavailable in Print dialog box | Photoshop CS5. I've already done everything it says here! Typical of Adobe ducking their head in the sand! I can get the print settings on other applications like Preview (no problem) which Epson claim, proves the problem lies with Adobe. An Adobe tech. told me on here (last year) that the problem was with Epson as they have to write the driver software to the application (Photoshop), yet Epson claim that the problem is not in the driver but in the application itsalf. Adobe will just bury their head in the sand and act like nobody is home!
Really sick of this crap, neil.

Thanks for getting back to me Gene. I will give that a try if I continue to have problems, but I have found a workaround solution, or at least discovered a glitch. Like I said, when I click the "Print Settings..." button, it fails to open up a Print Settings window, so I have no way of choosing the paper etc.. However, If I switch it from "Photoshop Manages Colors" to "Printer Manages Colors" and then back again, I can then click the "Print Settings..." button and it will open up a Print Settings window (go figure?). If I were to guess I would put the blame on Adobe's printer interface, not the print drivers from Epson. Like I said, this problem has been haunting me for a while on numerous printers. It's intermittent so sometimes it works alright and I forget about it, then it comes back, but now I may have discovered a workaround.
    Cheers, neil.

All of my images look grainy int he dark areas in CC, but not in CS5.  Is there a display setting that I'm missing?  Side note, the saved images look fine.  They only look bad in the CC UI.

Oh and lastly, I really didn't appreciate how UTTERLY rude and completely unhelpful "station_two" was.  It seems he/she prefers to get on here and find ways to criticize and nitpick vs. actually try to help or find solutions for people. I wonder if that level of disdain could ever be necessary towards a total stranger who is just asking for help?  I hope their life improves and they don't feel the need to take it out others through tech support message boards.  Props to sharmstr for being so cool about it all.
Well if that's how you are going to be!!!!        Station is OK, but this is an old thread, and there was a full moon back then.
So is it a display problem rather than a performance one?  I think it was mentioned that the artefacts a not there on saved documents. It is also one of those issues that would be fixed by resetting preferences, because the cache levels would go back to four.  It actually says right there on Preferences > Performance in the History & Cache section  'Set cache levels to two or higher for optimum performance' .
There is so much good information right there among the oficial help pages
    http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/photoshop-cs6-gpu-faq1.html
Which makes it very disappointing that Tech Support couldn't track it down.  I suspect they work more from Expert Systems than their own knowledge, so they have a bit of work to do there.

  • Photoshop 64/Extended not a default program option

Windows 7. Since installation of CS5, the usual graphics files (gif, jpg, tif, even  psd) are associated with either Windows Picture Viewer or Picture Viewer  rather than with Photoshop. I cannot open them in Photoshop through  Windows Explorer right click Open With. Most interestingly, when I try  to change this through the Control Panel  default program associations, the Photoshop.exe selection doesn't then appear in the list of Other Programs, nor does it stick for that one instance. I have tried selecting Photoshop through both Program Files and Program Files (x64). Other Adobe products, for whatever it's worth, do appear as options. Thanks in advance.

I have this same issue - when browsing in Windows Explorer, choose a jpg, rightclick and choose properties. Click Change next to Opens With: and Photoshop CS6 does not show up either in Recommended or Other Programs. Click Browse... and navigate to Photoshop.exe. Click Open and browse window closes and Windows Photo Viewer is now selected. Photoshop does not appear. No error messages. No previous versions installed. Tiffs work fine.
    Thanks!

  • Photoshop CS6 Extended not available in Creative Cloud single app membership?

I have read everywhere that Creative Cloud includes Photoshop CS6 Extended. So I went to buy a membership and figured I only need access to that one single app, and paid the US$19.99 for access to a single app license. But whenever I try to activate Photoshop now, I get regular CS6, not Extended. If I go into http://creative.adobe.com and look at my Apps it says just "Photoshop CS6" but when I click Learn More it brings me to the CS6 Extended product page. My question is whether I actually am entitled to CS6 Extended, or if I have to buy the more expensive $49.99 membership for access to all apps in order to get that? The marketing should be more clear if that's the case. Thanks in advance for any help!

    Hi PJ,
You're correct, when you get a membership to Photoshop CS6 by itself it is the standard version, versus with Creative Cloud membership it is the Extended version. I didn't find this written out anywhere. I did notice when I clicked the Photoshop picture from here http://www.adobe.com/products/creativesuite/cssubscription.html it took me to the Photoshop standard product page versus here it does say Extended http://www.adobe.com/products/creativecloud/tools.html and links to the Extended product page.
Where are you seeing this "Learn More" link that takes you to the wrong place (Extended page)? Can you post a screen shot?
This seems like something that should be called out on the first subscription page and here http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/faq.html#subscriptions
I'll see if its possible to get something added and possibly change this Learn More link once I get more info.

  • Photoshop Cs4 Extended not showing 3D tools

Hi! This customer has Photoshop Cws4 Extended.
Has a GeForce 8400GS videocard and the Open GL preferences is enabled in Prefrences.
But still 3D tools are not available.
Decoding the serial number verifies that the version is Photoshop Extended CS4.

There is a minimum amount of memory that needs to be free, also.  I had this issue when I was on a 1GB box, and had boost the memory slider up before 3D became enabled.

  • To CS5 or not to CS5

We are two designers in our marketing department; my design colleague's hardware does not support CS5, but my hardware does. Right now we are both happily running CS3.
Should I upgrade my software to CS5 and leave him behind?
I have a MacPro (Early 2008) with 8GB RAM. Will CS5 run noticeably better on my hardware than CS3 currently does?
Are the new features of CS5 compelling enough to warrant an upgrade? (I didn't think CS4 was.)
I greatly appreciate any insights you may have to offer!
    Thanks!

Not enough info to make a recommendation, but I can tell you that IMO, all of the apps that I use have very compelling new features. I have a couple of articles on my website you might find interesting:

  • Ultra not listed in Production Premium CS4

Has Ultra been dropped by Adobe or removed from CS4? What's happening with it?

First thing I noticed too. Here's my concern. Ultra CS3 has it's own installer, but it requires that you activate CS3 Production Premium first. So if I upgrade to CS4, I'll need to...
    1) Install at least one CS3 component and activate.
    2) Install Ultra CS3
    3) Install CS4 Suite, which hopefully won't interfere with the CS3 licensing.
Annoying. I don't use Ultra much, but I'm not willing to give it up just because Adobe has given up on it. I wish I hadn't sold my Ultra 2 license.
I saw a demo at Serious Magic's NAB booth a few years back of a realtime version of Ultra. It had a different name, but basically, they had a pitchman standing in front a green screen while all kinds of crazy virtual camera moves appeared on a live monitor.

  • Dynamic Link not authorized after Production Premium  Upgrade

I have upgraded to Creative Suite 4 Production Premium after previously installing Premiere CS4 and AE CS4 stand-alone. I completely uninstalled both of those programs (and all their associated programs) before installing Production Premium. When I attempt to dynamic link from Premiere to AE, I still get the message "Adobe Dynamic Link requires Adobe Production Premium". Any ideas? (The links to Soundbooth, etc from Premiere seem to work OK)

    YAY!
    Many thanks Keephowlin.
After upgrading my stand-a-lone copy of Prem Pro CS4, I purchased an upgrade version of Production Premium from Adobe (at great expense!!). After some initial issues getting Production Premium to recognise I had an eligble version of Prem Pro I got things up and running (with the help of Adobe Tech Support). To help others, I'll post a separate thread about this later.
Apart from a couple of corrupted dll files (which I have replaced) everything was working fine except that I got the error message when I tried to import an .aep file or went directly to the Dynamic Link menu:
"Adobe Dynamic Link requires Adobe Production Premium"
I followed your solution and FIXED! I can now use the Dynamic Link feature AND import an After Effect .aep file
I am also wondering whether my earlier installation issues at Production Premium failing to validate my Prem Pro was due to the fact I should have de-activated my Prem Pro serial number first.

  • Photoshop CS5 extended not recognizing all of my system memory

I reinstalled photoshop CS5 and prior to that the 3D repousse tool was not working properly but the performance section recognized all 16 GB of memory I have. After the reinstall, it only recognizes 3.5. This is very strange and I am at a loss of how to solve this issue. My system is dual quad core AMD opertons with 2.01 GHz of speed. 16GB of DDR2 RAM and a Nvidia GTX 285 Graphics card. OS is Windows 7 premium. All drivers have been updated as of today. Please let me know if you had the same problem and let me know how you fixed it.

Are you running  Windows 32 bit?  That prevents 64 bit apps from running.
If you are running a 64 bit version of Windows, and the 64 bit version of Photoshop -- then Photoshop should see most of your installed RAM (can use all of it because of OS overhead and the size of the binaries).
