Photoshop CS5 - get rid of scanned white background

Hello
I scanned a colored logo I did by hand. The scanned white background shows up when I print. How do you get rid of that? I don't want to play with the levels because I like the color of the logo. Do you use the alpha channel and create a mask? If so, what are the steps?

select the background with the magic wand tool
do a feather selection of a few pixels if your selection looks rough
then do a levels choose the set white point brush and click on what you want to be white
The levels will only adjust your background to white then.

Getting rid a a white background.. How ?

Hi I have been trying to get rid of a white square backround to a downloaded image. Does anyone now how to to this. A step by step instruction would be great as I am new to all this. Thanks you.

1. Starting with your original picture, named the Background layer, rename it to anything else. It is sufficient to double click it in the Layers Palette and accept the default name Layer 0 as I have done.
2. Activate the Custom Shape tool, select a heart shape, and draw out the heart.
3. Move the heart layer below the picture layer and group the two. This crops the picture into the heart on transparent background.
4. To fine-tune the location of the picture within the heart: activate either layer, activate the Move tool, and use the mouse and/or arrow keys.
5. Save this as a PNG which supports transparency.
Note: The above can be done using the Cookie Cutter tool, but my dinosaur version of PSE does not have the Cookie Cutter.
To test this I went to Zazzle and uploaded the PNG onto a iPhone case. Voila!

Get rid of bright white background on web pages

I need to change the background color behind text to something other than bright white to lessen the eye strain I'm experiencing. Although I can change the color in Windows 7, when I'm online web pages still have that white background, and for older eyes this is a problem.

You could try Options>Content>Fonts and Colors>Colors>Background.
Play around with this for a while. There aren't many suitable colors but I use a creamy white for blank pages. You can check or uncheck "Allow pages to use their own colors . . ."

have made graphics in paint, and i saved them under png.Now when i import them into flash CS4 the white backgrounds are solid?

Well when you are finished drawing a picture when you select it you are able to make the drawings background transparent so when you put it on top of something else the background doesnt show up or you can have the background visible.

Well when you are finished drawing a picture when you select it you are able to make the drawings background transparent so when you put it on top of something else the background doesnt show up or you can have the background visible.

How do I get rid of the white background in text boxes in Dreamweaver?

I use a lot of reversed text on my site, and not being able to see the text in the split view means I have to edit in the code view slows me down no end… I've tried changing the obvious view options, but can never seem to find the one that makes the boxes transparent. Is there an easy fix to this???anx if you can help

Here's a screengrab of the problem.
This page uses no text nav; instead uses z-index' similar to layers in photoshop, where image maps on overhangs from the pictures/pages underneath, to navigate to other pages.
But when working on it in Dreamweaver, it's a nightmare, because of the white boxes, which often almost completely obscure the layered divs underneath.
Is there no easy way 4 DW to just make these boxes transparent in the View. Switching off Style Rendering doesn't really help.

How do you get rid of the white part of an image?

I have some JPEG's of textures. Around the edge of the texture their is white, how do I get rid of the white so I can work with just the texture?
I tried the Luma Key filter. It worked pretty good but wanted to know what you guys do. If their is a way to get rid of the background white color without disrupting the texture image?

I'm trying to get rid of the logo background on the BC template for the following trial site:

Here's the HTML part that I've been tryng to work with

I tried to get rid of the background images altogether, by deleting the two "div class" from the above code but it shifted the layout.. When I try to delete the background images - nothin happened. Could these images be embedded in the template PHP - if so, where do I look for it?
Could sombody suggest a solution?

Hi Anna,
This system is not PHP so there is no PHP and you do not have access to any server side coding.
Do not delete the actual html, in your CSS just remove the background from the css of the element.

What black background?
If it is black background in the actual photo:
Menu > Format > Instant Alpha > drag the cursor over the colored background you wish to remove

When using 'sponge' effect on a fill, how do I get rid of the white 'pixellations' (if that is what they are called around the edges of the fill?

I tried to give you this solution before, but maybe you missed it. This simple procedure will mask out all the various sponge edge-artifacts. Here it is in simple steps:
1. Make the path shape you want to apply the sponge effect to.
2. Highlight that path, and select Object > Path > Offset path ... choose +2 points (or whatever works for your drawing scale, to ultimately eliminate the outside line and the artifacts) -- this will make a slightly larger shape, based on the original shape.
3. Cut the outside path (command or alt-X), select the inside path, and paste the outer path BEHIND the inner path (command or alt-B).
4. Apply the sponge effect to the OUTER path.
5. Highlight BOTH paths, and create a MASK (command or alt-7).
Now you have your original shape, with sponge applied, and the outer 2 points (or whatever your Offset Path was set to), are masked out, masking out the outside line and the sponge artifacts.
This works with any Document Raster Effect Settings dpi.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
