Photoshop CS5 installation trouble - ' Installer failed to initialize '
Greetings,
Having trouble with a CS5 photoshop installation on my 4,1 2.5ghz 6gb RAM MBP. Download goes fine, disc mounts to machine, but I get stuck on the ' Installer failed to initialize' page. Downloaded the reccomended support advisor app, which cannot find a solution to my problem.
The log reveals the error:
[FATAL] Setup - Unable to copy PDAppFlex.swf one level up.
Not sure where to go from here. I've downloaded the dmg 2x, done numerous restarts, tried the cs5 cleanup tool, repair permissions....no dice.
I should mention that I have a 48gb SSD with my OS (10.6.3) as well as a 200gb drive which has my user account on it, separate from the OS. Not sure if this is part of the issue?

In order to test the utility perform the following steps -
Goto /Applications/Utilities and launch Terminal application. This will open a window and show you the command prompt like machine-name: user$. ditto is a command to copy files, so type ditto then drag a file to the terminal, and drag a folder to the terminal. This will create a command similar to -
ditto /Users/username/Desktop/fileToCopy.txt /Users/username/Desktop/folder/
Now hit return to run the command. If the command succeedes you will not see any error on the terminal and the file (as fileToCopy.txt) will get copied to destination folder (as /Users/username/Desktop/folder/)
In case you see any error on the terminal or the file is not getting copied to the destination folder, 'ditto' might be corrupted.

I am running an XP S3 box, 2.66 GHz with 512mb RAM and lots of memory. Recently I tried to update my Acrobat Reader (Secunia reported my version was not current). Upon downloading, an error msg without a number came up as in subject line of this post.

I uninstalled my current version of Acrobat Reader. Tried to install again but no luck. Same error msg. I cleared the cache out of Firefox 6.0.2, tried again: ditto.
I have on my computer installed an old version of Acrobat 5.0 (KWW500R7153013-348) that I bought in 2003 (I think) so I unistalled that, then tried again. No luck. So I reinstalled the old Acrobat, then uninstalled it. Same. Then I defragged my hard drive, restarted. Now I was getting frustrated.
I did a system restore to a point before I tried to update Acrobat Reader; no luck. No matter what I do, AR will not install. I've read all the KB articles at Adobe, but nothing seems to work. Can you please help?
MarkI had exactly the same problems, and it goes that because I wanted an English version of Adobe Reader, went obviously to adobe.com but because I am based in Europe, oh... this site decides to be so lame and Fail to Initialise and couldn't even redirect me by detecting my IP address, but could detect enough to not let me install a simple reader !!!
So this link is the link for European IP address users, http://get.adobe.com/de/reader/enterprise/ and then you just have to copy paste into translate.google.com to know what to do, and you can still download English or any other language...
However this is all lame and poorly organised for a company the size of adobe, and their help thingo was a complete waste of time, obviously it was only geared to the US !! Hello the rest of the world exists too.
Anyway hope this is of help, I even went to foxit reader and it's faster, but needed adobe for the pdf to be able to be opened in photoshop !!! aggghhhh these people and their control freakish ***** -

They tell you which version of Camera Raw is required to support your camera. The also tell you which version of Camera Raw is compatible with your CS5 (up to version 6.7 only).
It may be that the version of Camera Raw you need is not compatible with CS5. -
Photoshop CS5 32 Bit Installation Errors, Windows 7 Ultimate
Today I did a second install of Photoshop CS5, in a 32 bit Windows 7 virtual machine that is otherwise in fine health (up to date, yada yada).
The Photoshop installer package I had used prior to do a perfectly successful installation on my x64 Windows 7 system didn't have quite as good luck on my 32 bit system... It wouldn't do a default install at all, and even when I disabled UAC and configured all the options disabled (no need for 'em for my testing), it still emitted some errors - though in the latter case it actually completed the Photoshop installation and I was able to run Photoshop.
Note that after the first failure I disabled UAC. All installs done from an administrator account, though I did not run the installer as administrator while UAC was on.
This is not a big deal - what I needed to test with did finally get installed, but I thought Chris or someone at Adobe might like to know what the installer barfed on. Here's what it reported:

The errors I reported above (e.g., those with the .otf fonts) are related to the configuration of the "3 gigabyte address space" option, invoked by the switch /3GB in boot.ini (XP) or bcdedit /set increaseuserva 3072 (Windows 7 and Vista), which is what I was experimenting with when doing this installation.
I dropped back to the default 2 GB setting (bcdedit /set increaseuserva 2048) and tried a reinstall to confirm, and indeed the install went through smoothly.
Trying to increase your address space in a Windows 32 bit operating system through tweaking has known downsides; consider moving up to an x64 operating system instead to be able to access more RAM.

Unable to install Flash Player 11. I keep getting Installation encountered errors. "Failed to Initialize".
Followed all of the instructions under the "Troubleshooting" screens. I temporarly deactivated my Norton Virus software. I unstalled the old Flash Player version. I'm using Window XP and Internet Exployer 8 on a 32 bit machine. Now I have no version on my system and the new version will not install.

Photoshop CS5 and APP-V = Fail
Hi,
I'm trying to sequence Photoshop CS5 but I'm not having much of a success. The sequencing hangs and never finishes, and it seems to be because of the CS5ServiceManager starting and messing things up.
I have not found a way around this and I'm just wondering if there is any good info about this. Have not found much at all. KB-article? Someone who has done this successfully?
ThxInteresting idea, running Photoshop in a virtual environment, but I wonder whether given that Photoshop is a complex suite of stuff it will be possible. I also wonder whether you'll have any luck getting other than software OpenGL functionality in a virtual machine. Even if you get it to work, you'll probably find it doesn't work very well.
Out of curiosity, are you finding Photoshop not to play well with other programs? Just wondering why you're doing application virtualization.

Windows 7 / Photoshop CS5 64-bit installation not working
I think I've followed all the instructions, and I've looked at many previous posts about the same problem, but I'm having no success. I've tried the Run as Administrator upon right clicking the Program Files (x86)>Adobe>Adobe Extension Manager CS5>Adobe Extension Manager CS5.exe file both before and after the no-permission window shows up. Even before double clicking on the mxp file. When I click OK to close the no-permission window, the installation seems to run, but nothing ever shows up.
Maybe I'm doing something silly, but I can't seem to make it work.Did you right-click Extension Manager CS5, select "Run as administrator," and then open the Pixel Bender plugin extension by selecting "Install Extension" from Extension Manager's File menu and navigating to the Pixel Bender plugin extension?

WinXP, LabView 6.1 Installation error message: 'Failed to initialize installer. Error 110.'
I am using WinXP and have no virus protection software installed. I have already tried installing instmsiw.exe, which didn't help. I also tried restarting in safe mode, starting and cancelling the install process, and restarting in normal mode, as per a suggestion I found, to no avail. Any other suggestions?

Some steps you can take to check if it is the CD or your system would be:
1) Copy cd down to hard drive and try to install from there
2) Try installing from cd on another machine
3) Try another CD (if you have one)
If you run into the situation where it works on another machine, but doesn't work when copying down to your hard drive, I would then further try sharing the cd-rom drive of another machine temporarily and then accessing the cd from the network, or just copy it down into another machine and share it across the network. If this does not resolve your installation problem, the issue may be related to some corruption in your system install or possibly any permission issues. Lastly, if you cannot get the cd to work anywhere, I would co
ntact your local sales representative to see if you can get a new copy of the cd.

Photoshop CS6 "failed to initialize" error...
hi, everyone.
i tried to install photoshop CS6 but i got "failed to initialize" error message.
i tried everything in the web site http://forums.adobe.com/message/2786497#2786497 but it didn't work out.
i uninstalled all adobe product with appcleaner than try to install but it didn't work.
i opened in the safe mode but it didn't work out.
i don't want to install MacOSX again if that's the solution.

after deleting adobe products. i only install adobe flash player and adobe reader.
i run the adobe creative suite cleaner tool, it didn't find any session to delete even if i use option "All" at the top of right corner in the program.
now i only have flash player and reader, what should i do please help... -
Photoshop CS5 failed to install?
I am trying to install a trial version of PS CS5 and everything installs perfectly, but once I reach the end it says Photoshop failed to install. I am installing English. I currently have Photoshop CS4 and that installed perfectly. I'm running on Vista Home Premium.

im trying to install flash player
im using Windows XP on a 32 bit system
using firefox
i download the player successfully, then run it
it starts to install for a fraction of a second then comes up with a message
"Adobe Flash Player Installer"
"installation encountered errors"
"Failed to initialize"
and i cant move forward or see what the errors are
if anyone could help it would be very appreciatedThink I found answer in another thread.
It gives alternate location to download for 32 or 64 IE or Firefox. I got message saying Flash installed.

various web sites stated that I needed to update adobe flash player. I clicked on link and followed instructions, then received the message "installation encountered errors - failed to initialize". So far, I have uninstalled previous versions of flash player and checked my plug ins. Noticed that Shockwave flash does not appear in my plug in list and adobe states that this needs to be active for their flash player.
I am on Windows XP and Firefox version 8.
