Photoshop CS5 opens only once!

I have photoshop CS5, it's trial now. Everytime I install it, it opens only once then everytime I open it again it just immediatly closes. The only thing that gets it to work again is uninstalling it then reinstalling, which gets it to work also 1 time no more. Someone told me it's caused by wrong serial jumber, but I'm on trial.
I have Windows XP SP2, AMD Phenom II X2 550, Built-in GFX 760G "I think it's ATI 3000 or 3200"
Any help would be great as I can't really use it by uninstalling-reinstalling everytime.

Something to try, if you're willing to go through the installation one more time...
When you get it open, go into Edit - Preferences - Performance, and disable OpenGL.
If it continues to work after that, check for updated video drivers.
There's a registry tweak that will prevent it from even trying to use OpenGL... It's in a set of optional files for CS4, but it can be modified to work for CS5 by changing all occurrences of 11.0 to 12.0. Search for DisallowOpenGLWindows_ON_D on this site.

PS Elements 10 preinstalled on my new computer with Windows 8. It worked fine for a week, now opens once, then won't open again, or doesn't open at all. Adobe gives no support to fix this (they told me to research the answer on their site), yet their info says PS 10 and Windows 8 are compatible. I used an older version of PS Elements for years on my old computer (Windows XP), and never had a problem launching or closing the software. This problem came about on a new computer with PS Elements 10 and Windows 8. No other versions of PS Elements were installed on the new computer, nor were any settings brought over from the old computer. Again, thanks for your input. Will keep your suggestion in mind for any future troubles with Adobe products.

Refer this article to reset Winsock to it's default. Your PCTools may have inserted LSP.

After reset and restarting windows, you may get a prompt to remap LSP, click no.

Photoshop CS5 opens and says "Adobe Photoshop CS5 has stopped working"

Hey guys.. I hit this problem tonight after trying for several hours to open Adobe PS CS5.
Photoshop worked earlier today and i have made no changes on my PC since running PS again.
I am running Windows 7 Service Pack 1 64bit
I have tried Pressing CTRL+SHIFT+ALT to delete the Adobe Photoshop Settings File with no success.
I have rebooted my computer several times.
I have ran as administrator.
As far as I can tell it has something to do with KERNELBASE.dll
You guys are my last chance.. THANK !

I am running three monitors and occasionally four. I've attempted opening the program with only one connected.

Photoshop CS5 can only decode fax encoded images up to 32767 pixels wide and tall

Dear Sir/Madam,
Can you please help me? I am scanning large drawings using an Xerox 6204 Large printer/scanner. The resolution is set at 600 and saved as .tif. Photoshop CS3 can open files with no problems, but CS5 gives me the following message:
"Photoshop can only decode fax encoded images up to 32767 pixels wide and tall"
I can also view with infarview and open with applications such as corel draw. Am I missing a plug-in or patch update? The same file can be opened in both Photoshop versions if I scan at resolution 300.
Your help is greatly appreciated.

I agree with you... it's a little odd to save on fax tiff format... to be honest, it's not like we have an option on the matter... the XEROX 6204 Large Format Printer/Scanner either give us .Tif or .PDF options... Anyway's no problem with CS3 or other software like mentioned above... so even knowing it's a bit strange to use such format, still does not explain why on CS5 I get this error message. Furthermore if I open on CS3 and save as (same file name and same format .tif) I can then open on CS5!!!!
To my surprise, I did not know it was saving as a fax tif... all I get is tif. Even so if all other software including an older version of Photoshop can open it why CS5 can not? What is missing? As mentioned if scanned at 300 dpi it opens... Confused. Very confused!!

Bridge & Photoshop CS5, opening Photoshop files from Bridge

If I open Bridge in Photoshop CS5, & double click on a jpeg thumbnail in Bridge, it will not automatically open the file in Photoshop. Why?
How can I change my settings so that the files selected in Bridge will automatically open in Photoshop when double clicked?

Hi, when you go to Bridge/Preferences/file Type Associations, & you see the box with a list of file formats in bold on the left, you will see a program name or the word 'None' next to each one, & an arrow to click on, to the right of each one.
If you have 'None' written there, it means it hasn't got a program allocated to it, or it may have some other program written there instead.
What you need is to see Adobe Photoshop CS5 in the list on the right, next to every file format that you use.
You could try clicking on the Reset to Default button at the bottom of the box to see if it brings up Adobe Photoshop CS5 automatically.
If it doesn't, or brings up other programs instead, click on each of the arrows on the right inside the box, then hit 'Browse'', then look on your hard disk for the program file for CS5, & select the actual application set up file 'Set-up.exe''.
That's what worked for me.

Can't open Acrobat Pro 9 with Photoshop cs5 open

For some reason I can't open pdf files or even the Acrobat application while photoshop cs5 is open. As soon as I shut it down I can open the file no problems. I'm assuming it has something to do with how much memory photoshop is using, but I've never had this problem before with any previous versions. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I've noticed two ways it misfunctions
1) Photoshop is open
2) I try to open acrobat by either using the quick launch icon that has always worked in the past, or by opening a pdf file either in a folder or as a link on the web. It will not open and offers no error message. It merely 'dings' at me like when you try to click on something in a doc when you've got another window open and u need to press ok or cancel before you can do anything else.
or
1) I've already got acrobat open
2) I open photoshop ok
3) I go back to acrobat and try to do something like print and the program crashes and shuts down... no error message.
Opening at the original exe doesn't change anything. Acrobat works fine when photoshop isn't open.

Batch Processing in Photoshop CS5 opens files in Camera Raw

Regarding batch processing straight from Photoshop CS5 (not in Bridge) I am unable to get the .dng files to open up without requiring that I click on 'open image' in Camera Raw. I am trying to run a simple two step sharpen plus save and close action on a batch of 700+ .dng files. There is no open command in the action. Thanks.

You probably need to check Suppress File Open Options Dialogs.

Photoshop CS5 crashes only minutes after loading up

My dad just recently purchased Adobe Photoshop CS5 for me, and I installed it about 2 days ago. I installed the program 3 times without any different results. After loading up, it runs fine, I'm able to do a little sketch. However, after about 5 minutes, the program stops responding, and then proceeds to close itself out, losing the small amount of work I managed to accomplish before it crashed. I can't get any real work done in it, and even after restarting, defragging,reinstalling, and updating PS CS5, it still crashes after only a short time. Does anyone have any idea what may be the problem? Or how to fix this?
I have Windows XP by the way, and it says it installed completely.

The exact location of Event Viewer might differ from Windows version, to another. I keep mine as an icon on my Desktop. On my XP-Pro, the Path is: C:\WINDOWS\system32\eventvwr.exe.
Here is a look at Event Viewer. I just happened to have had a few errors and warnings, so you can see what it all looks like. Let your dad see this, so he'll know what he's looking at, and looking for:
As for the specs., ask your dad to gather that info for you. The Control Panel>System>Hardware is one place to start, and also, if he goes to Run and types in "dxdiag.exe" without the " (quotation marks), there will be several tabbed screens, with a lot of that data.

Someone please help with Photoshop CS5 opening error

Everytime I try to open Photoshop CS5 on my Macbook Pro, it starts to load and then right after it says "Initializing panels..." it stops loading and an error message error pops up and says "Could not initialzie Photoshop because of a program error." I'm not sure at all what I did to cause this. I have Premire CS5 and After Effects CS5 also installed and those load and work perfectly fine. Photoshop just stopped working all of a sudden. Photoshop is running in 64 bit mode but i also tried to run it in 32 bit mode and that did not work either.

That is pathetic little disk space available.
Keep in mind that the OS must share that itty bitty space with Photoshop's Scratch Disk. As a point of reference, I keep a modest, dedicated 160-GB dedicated second internal drive for my Photoshop Scratch Disk alone.

Photoshop CS5 opens but without the chosen picture

After choosing a picture (jpg) in Bridge CS5 to be opened in Photoshop CS5 Photoshop is being started but keeps empty. The picture isn't opened. If I choose 5 pictures there will be opened 5 empty instances of Photoshop but no picture will be opened. I notice this behaviour since having updated to Raw 6.4.

i just tried to see a rule in what Photoshop does, but it is not always the same that happens.
First I marked 5 jpgs in Explorer an tried to open with rightclicking an choosing "open". --> Photoshop was opened and all pictures were shown. I closed Photoshop.
Second I opened Bridge and marked five jpgs and tried to open them with rightclicking and choosing open with Photoshop. --> Photoshop opened but without any picture. Photoshop keeps open...
Third I tried to open one single picture via dubbleclick in explorer.--> another Photoshop opened but without the picture.
Fourth I tried to open two PSD-files via marking and rightclicking and choosing "open". --> two other instances of Photoshop opened without pictures.
At last I tried to open 5 jpgs via marking and rightclicking and choosing "open" (in Explorer). --> five other instances of Photoshop opened without pictures.
so this looks strange:
what I'm wondering about:
normally if Photoshop is already opened, every additionally clicked picture will be opened in this one Photoshop-instance.
Why does Photoshop open without opening the picture?
It drives me crazy because I have to edit a lot of pictures during the day and the usual workflow doesn't work...

Itunes opened only once, now won't open at all HELP

just bought an ipod 30g video, shuffle and installed itunes as per directions. had trouble from the get go. managed to open once, put some songs on ipods, shut down and haven't been able to open since. NO ERROR MESSAGES. help please....

some preliminary questions (i'm checking on the two most common causes of error message free launch failures).
do you just see the wee hourglass for a few seconds, and then nothing? if so, do you also have Norton Internet Security 2005 installed on that PC?
or are you seeing a brief "flash" of the itunes license screen (and then nothing)? if so, do you also see similar behavior when you try to launch your QuickTime?

Elements Editor 13 opens only once

I resently upgraded from PSE 11 to PSE 13. Organizer 13 works fine. Editor 13 can be opened one time and works also fine.
After closing of the Editor the program still stay in the process list of the task manager and cannot be opened again.
Please advise.

I have the same problem with a new Photoshop Elements 13 Installation. But when I start Photoshop Elements 13 as an Administrator (Win7) the program and the process will be closed.

Photoshop cs5, Opening Tiff into Raw. Some open and others don't.

I have installed cs5 onto my Windows Envy laptop. I want to open my tiff into raw. I can do that with some of the tiff files and others I cannot, the option is greyed out. Then the pic. next to it works and the one after does not, so forth and so on. I have gone back and forth in changing the camera raw preferences settings to try and get something going to no avail.
Any answers ??

Why photoshop CS5 opens twice the same image?!

Sometimes when I have opened an image in PS I reopened from bridge or from Ilustrator as a smart object and the image duplicates in photoshop!
Somebody knows what it's happening with this? is this a bug? if not what is the use of this?
