Photoshop - CS5 to CS6?

I just switched from PC to Mac.
I had Photoshop CS5 Extended for my PC, and had always known through research that I could get the license switched to Mac if the need be. At least, that was before Creative Cloud stepped in.
I don't want to subscribe to CC. I'm a student, I only work part-time, and my money can go towards better things than renting a program that I should be able to own.
I read in the FAQs that owners of CS5 were eligible to upgrade to CS6, so can somebody kindly explain how I would go about doing this?
Thanks.

If you didn't have the opportunity to deactivate the installations then you should contact Adobe Support thru chat and ask them to reset your activations for all the serial numbers involved.
Chat support - For the link below click the Still Need Help? option in the blue area at the bottom and choose the chat option...
Make sure you are logged in to the Adobe site, have cookies enabled, clear your cookie cache.  If it continues to fail try using a different browser.
Serial number and activation chat support (non-CC)

Then you just reinstall the programs and activate using the same serial numbers.  If you need to download you can find download available thru the following links...

  • Photoshop CS5 and CS6 does not start. Windows 7

I am using Photoshop CS5 as well as CS6, 64-bit on Windows 7. Since the last few days, I noticed that Photoshop would take a very long time to start (earlier it used to start within few seconds). Today, I found that both the Photoshop versions do not start at all. Nothing happens when I click the short-cut on the Task Bar. Neither do they start through the Start Menu. Why does this happen and what is the solution?

Have you tried using the task manager to see if Photoshop is hung and look at your windows reliability history to see if Photoshop CS5 an CS6 are crashing?

  • Open Photoshop CS5 and CS6

I can't open Photoshop CS5 and CS6 versions simultaneously. When I launch CS6, and then CS5, it takes me to CS6, and vice versa.
Is it possible to keep open the two versions? With Indesign I can do it.

As far as I know that is normal behavior:  only one instance of Photoshop at a time.   Forum members have reported running two versions of Photoshop simultaneously using virtual machines on their computer (which emulate separate computers).

  • Are Photoshop CS5 and CS6 compatible with Windows 8

Are Photoshop CS5 and CS6 compatible with Windows 8?

Yes,  I'm running CS6 on 8.1, and I'm sure CS5 works as well.

    Hi Kenton,
Adding to what James mentioned, this stands true for both Lightroom and Photoshop. In other words, you don't need to necessarily install the previous versions but while installing the latest versions, in this case Lightroom 5 & PS CS6, you will need the serial keys for previous versions as well along with the current ones.

  • Can you export a SWF in photoshop CS5 or CS6?

I have a client that has provided me SWF files that swear were exported from Photoshop, I know that this could be done in earlier versions. if so then how can this be done in CS5 or CS6. I have access to both.

To my knowledge, the ability to export as .swf was removed after CS3. Do you know what version of Photoshop your client was using?

  • Compatibility with Photoshop CS5 and CS6

Anyone who can help me please leave a comment or a suggestion. I would gladly appreciate it!!
I am starting a Digital Media class in college and CS5 is what is setup on the computers and textbooks are also about CS5 as well. They haven't upgraded to CS6 yet. I am mainly doing Photoshop, Flash Professional, and Illustrator in this class. The first program we are using is Photoshop. I have just paid for and downloaded the Creative Cloud and everything pertains to CS6.
My question is should I stick with using Photoshop CS5? Or can Photoshop CS6 be used as long as I don't use the newer parts of the program?
Also will there be compatible issues in say for instance I am doing a project and going back and forth from my computer at home (with CS6) to working on it at school (with CS5)?

As long as you enable the "Maximum Compatibility" option, you will always have data to work with. Of course some features will not be available, but that should not be that big an issue. I'd rather be concerned about Flash and Illustrator, which are much more prone to converting data into non-editable stuff when saving from a newer version to an older version....

  • How to get photoshop cs5 or cs6

So, The title says it all really, I'm not looking for this 'Creative Cloud' where there is like a monthly payment. What I'd like is a digital (or disc) copy of Photoshop CS5 or newer but upon searching the website there doesn't seem to be a spot to actually purchase the program and receive a serial code as if I had purchased a copy from a store. Am I just missing something? Is there a link I could have that would show me how to possibly purchase one of these programs or at the minimal get price estimations. I'm not looking to spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars but i would like to become proficient in a photoshop program because I'd someday like to make an artistic career or side job to pick up some extra money but I don't want to get sucked into scams or acquire a virus.

    Adobe still sells CS6 here

  • Photoshop CS5 to CS6 possible ?

    Hi All
I have Photoshop CS5 and Im looking to upgrade to CS6 is this possible and any idea's how and how much ?
I'd love to migrate to the cloud but unfortunately living in a rural place with limited broadband services makes this pretty much impossible ... and hard to find 'traditional' software to buy these days !
    thanks
    jools

Yes Adobe still markets CS6 and you can upgrade from CS5 to CS6 $200 for standard $400 for extended.  However the Adobe Web site is designed to  push a $50 a mounth subscription on you. So when you got to the correct page Creative Suite 6 to upgrade to CS6 you need to click Buy then ignore the pushed subscription default use the pull-down menu to change full to upgrade then use its select button not the default subscription push select button. View the screen capture in a new tab or window this site scale images poorly. In a new tab or window you can scale the image full size.

  • ATI Radeon 7000 series and Photoshop CS5 and CS6

Interesting to note, Running windows 7 64bit I have bought a new graphics card, it is an ATI Radeon HD7900 bought to run Photoshop CS5 and 6 unfortunately the graphics card is not displayed in the photoshop prefrences, I checked the list of cards supported by Adobe and the Radeon 7000 series was listed.....I rang Adobe who states that the HD7000 is not supported, so until (if ever ) it is I cannot use the full functionality of Photoshop CS5 extended. I'm not sure if all the Radeon HD cards are supported or not, but maybe check before you invest in a new card.

The Radeon 7000 series cards should work fine with both CS5 and CS6, but as Steve noted there is a problem with the current drivers for the card.  Until the 12.7 driver is released next month, I'd suggest using the following driver:
    http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/AMDCatalyst126beta.aspx
Use the control panel on your system to completely uninstall your current driver before installing the 12.6 beta driver.  Please let us know if the beta driver resolves the issues you're seeing.
    Thanks,

  • How do I upgrade from Photoshop CS5 to CS6?

I have Photoshop CS5 and want to upgrade to CS6. However, I don't want the Creative Cloud version. (I don't want to have to pay a monthly or annual fee!) I want to pay the one-time "lifetime" license fee. Where do I go to do this? How much will it cost? Or is this no longer an option?

    NightSkyGuy wrote:
The page he was pointed to was for an entire suite and only presents a "buy at $699" choice.
That page has suites and individual apps.
Now that he knows that it's "lying" about being a $699 option to buy, clicking makes sense.
That's not a lie. Photoshop CS6 can be bought for $699.

I used to similarly  sneer at people who kept asking me what photoshop to get until I realized how much Adobe muddied those waters!  Hint, there are about a DOZEN Photoshop products (or at least there were).
I hardly think that the difference between a full purchase and an upgrade is analogous to the differences amongst "about a DOZEN" products.
