Photoshop CS5 Tooltip Font Issue

I am using Photoshop CS5, recently updated to 12.0.2 on Windows XP Pro 32 bit.
When I first started using Photoshop CS5, I noticed that tooltips within the application would not show up, even though that option was enabled in Preferences.  Today after installing the 12.0.2 update, the tooltips now show up, but the font is having some issues.  Here's an example:
As you can see, the font of the tooltip is all kinds of messed up.  Restarting Photoshop causes the words in the tooltip to rotate at different angles and display at different sizes and styles.  Disabling and re-enabling tooltips in Preferences has the same effect.  I have not made any recent changes to my font library, or installed any new applications.  This is the only Adobe application in which this is happening.
I've been using Photoshop for about 8 versions by now.  Tooltips aren't really necessary for me anymore, so I can just turn them off and be done with it.  But it's frustrating to not have things working correctly.  Any suggestions?

I understand that corporate IT is slow to adopt new things.  It has always been thus.
But if you write memos to your IT management (and your own management) that say that the apps you need to do your work are really not working right any longer with the old system, that would put some heat on getting them to start to upgrade.  It might even net you a new computer in the short term.
The IT folks skipped Vista (which sounds justifiable, but it really wasn't).  Now they're trying to delay Windows 7 as long as possible.  Give them the reasons they can't.  Windows 7 may be pretty different, but it really works.  They may say they're waiting for Service Pack 1, but I suspect it's fear of change mostly.
Honestly, if any IT department hasn't already begun serious development behind the scenes to work out what's involved with switching to Windows 7, then they are dinosaurs and need to be fired.  It's become impossible to buy computers with XP pre-installed.  What will they do when they buy one that simply can't be downgraded to their own XP installation?  At some point computer companies will determine it's no longer cost effective to support XP (no drivers, etc.).
Microsoft has already ended Mainstream Support for XP and sales of new copies of XP, and has set the Extended Support end date (granted, it's been extended and is not imminent).

  • Save as .pdf  in Photoshop CS5 - serious font issues.

    Hello.
It may not be directly about Acrobat, but since it's a PDF issue maybe someone here will be able to help.
I'm having serious issues with fonts while saving as .pdf from Ps.
No matter what pdf settins I use, the fonts result messed up one way or the other (see attachment). It only happens when saving as .pdf from Ps, while all works fine when saving from Illustrator, Word, etc...
I have no idea what could be the reason. Please help.
    Thanks in advance.
    Attachment:
top: screen capture of .psd in Ps (with font/paragraph settings)
bottom: screen capture of saved .pdf when viewed in Acrobat
Microsoft Windows 7 x32/x64 (same issue on two machines)
    Adobe Photoshop 12.0.3 x32/x64 respectively
    Adobe Acrobat Pro 10.0.0 x64
    Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.4.1 x32

    Solved.
After going through all the preferences - it was due to "2D graphics acceleration" being on for some reason.
So - you put "2D graphics acceleration" in Acrobat (9 an/or 10) an the above is what you get... hmmm.....
    Thanks for assistance.

  • Photoshop CC 2014 font issues

I'm Not entirely sure why this is happening, or what's causing it, but photoshop cc 2014 is causing some serious issues with fonts on my documents. Up until this point my company has used Extensis Suitcase Fusion to activate fonts used throughout our project docs. The 2014 typekit update and addition is somehow conflicting with either photoshop or suitcase and in return setting a large portion of my fonts to it's default or regular weight. It seems like while suitcase is auto activating the necessary fonts, typekit is reading each of those weights as their own individual fonts. This might seem difficult to understand but in any case i would just like to know if there is a way to completely deactivate typekit and or remove it's involvement in my project documents, at this point it is resetting dozens of fonts on some very important project files. I'd much rather not be limited to just the fonts that adobe or typekit prefers.

    I still don’t have a clue…

  • Anyone know where the photoshop cs5 essential font folder is located?

anyone know where the photoshop cs5 essential font folder is located?
i know the windows font folder works,  but adobe used to have a font folder of there own.
    there is no C:\Program Files\Common Files\Fonts in cs5.
    only
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\FontsRequired
    and
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\FontsRecommended
    which i  did try.

The Adobe font folder is a goner. It is deprecated as of CS5 and no longer used. any fonts must be installed using your operating system's font management.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 Fonts

Hello, i use Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 and i know that it's possible to add some fonts on it. I've downloaded them but don't know where to put them, i can't find the "Fonts" folder in Adobe folder. Also i want the font that is on this website: http://2doggames.com header, yellow words: "dog games".
I'm wating for your answers impatiently.
    Thanks in advance.

Fonts are handled by your operating system. You add them to your Windows Fonts folder or the Font Book Utility (Mac).

  • Photoshop cs5 extended 3d issue

    Hi,
i made a selection then i made it into a 3d layer with reproussé and then turn it into a 3d object , this part works all fine
but as soon as i accept the changes i make, and start to use the 3d rotation tool and start rotate it. my background goes transparent while dragging/rotating my object . this is very enoying coz i cannot see my background while doing this.. anyone has the same problem and or a solution to it?
i checked photoshop preferences ( CTRL + K  ... performance) and played with the settings. nothing usefull. also i updated my system to the latest video drivers. everything runs smooth even photoshop.
my hardware specs are pretty decent im sure it isnt that, although i could enable or check something somewhere , who can help me about this issue...
    my specs :
    software :
    windows 7 x64 bit
adobe photoshop cs5 extended x64 bit
Mainboard: Mainboard Model  MS-7380 ( msi p7n platinum silent )
    memory :  4gb dual channel

    Performance Level 3D Applications

Generally good advice is to check with nVidia on their web site and see if they have released any recent video drivers that fix the problem you're seeing.

Many people are finding that new video drivers solve problems they're seeing with Photoshop.

  • Photoshop CS5 *serious* printing issue

    Dear Adobe Programmers,
we recently buy Photoshop CS5 standalone for Windows. We installed the software on Windows XP with Service Pack 3.
We are a copy center so we need to produce an huge amount of prints every day. After the installation I tried to print a page, the printer doesn't start, and I ask myself "oh well... why?". Ok, after the first try I try a second time and this time the print comes out correctly. I then open another file, launch 5 copy to the printer.. and surprise! Only 1 print comes out. So I reopen the Print dialog, i set 4 copies and... surprise! It print 5 copies. And so on, if I launch a print it print the previously setted number of copy instead of the actually inserted.
Then I found a workaround. Open the print dialog, set the number of copies needed, then hit CLOSE on the dialog windows, open it another time and send the print... this way it print the correct number of copies.
I have a past as programmer and I think your programmers made a mistake with the variable scope of the number of copies, in fact, it seems that the number is passed to the variable once the dialog is closed instead of real-time change to the value.
I read another thread where your programmers were blabbing about Microsoft problem or drivers problem. Well we can exclude both since the other programs print the needed amount of print requested, and the drivers are from differents brands and different type of printers, we actually have 2 Konica Minolta 500, 1 Konica Minolta 253C, 1 Epson Stylus Pro 9880, 1 Xerox 6030, and you want to make us CUSTOMER believe that the problem is a third part one? Don't make us laugh please. This problem is out since at least June as I can read from the previous post, and no patches have been dispatched to solve this. Please check your software better before you release to the market.
Also I wonder why in the hell you have removed the Automate->Pdf Presentation function... also it is written in some pages that this is available as plugin (I checked before I buy PS CS5) but, surprise again, there isn't any Automate->Pdf Presentation plugin available.
I'm looking forward for a very early reply. This is why I dislike closed source program, because with Open Source Program this stupid problem would have been fixed in a couple of day.
    Best regards.

I would think a business would have downloaded and tested the 30 day trial, before purchase, to ensure there would be no problems.
There is a posting in here that states that the xerox print driver package has a old driver error in it and to only down load the stand alone printer drivers. That fixed one issue for someone with a xerox printer.

  • Photoshop CS5 Licensing Expired Issue

    Hello,
I was part of the Beta Testing group (through adobe) with Photoshop CS5 before it's release. As such, I had Photoshop CS5 prior to its release. When the License expired I don't think I deleted it correctly from my computer. Now, I've purchased my new copy of CS5 (including Photoshop) and it installed (after much problems. It saw that I had copy elements of Photoshop. It suggested I get the Photoshop cleaner and run it. I did run it and finally was able to install the full CS5, including Photoshop). Now... when I try to RUN/OPEN photoshop CS5 it says my license has expired. It hasn't. I just bought it. So, I used the application in the CS5 folder that had the uninstall application. I ran the  uninstall And then RE-INSTALLED it off the dvd. I tried AGAIN to launch Photoshop and it still says its license has expired. What do I do? I've spent hours on this and have gotten no work done in Photoshop today. HELP.

I understand that corporate IT is slow to adopt new things.  It has always been thus.

  • Photoshop CS5.1 printing issue

I am unable to print anything in Photoshop. I just upgraded to CS5.1, 64-bit, from CS3. When I use the print command I get the message "The saved printer information is not compatible with this version of Photoshop, or the saved printer is no longer available. You will need to check your printer settings before printing."
When I click OK, I then get "There was an error opening your printer. Printing functions will not be available until you have selected a printer and reopened any documents."
How can I check my printer settings or select a printer when I can't get the print dialog to appear? I get these messages no matter what files I open.
I have a second computer on which I just did a new install of CS5.1 (not an upgrade), with the same printers and drivers, and it works fine.
    Any suggestions?
    --Doug

There really is no such thing as an upgrade.  It is all the same program, just a price break.  So you probably have some printer issues left over from the previous version on the computer you "upgraded" to CS5.1.
Check to see it you have the correct printer listed.
If that looks OK you might reset the preferences and it will clean out any junk that might be a problem.  Start PS and IMMEDIATELY hold down the ctrl + alt + shift keys.  You should get a reset window.  A little tricky, so keep trying if it does not work the first time.

  • Need help with Photoshop CS5.5 Printing issues with Epson R2880

    Hi,
I'm experiencing problems printing on photoshop, I already selected center image but the epson printer always print to the upper left hand corner of
the page. And the image is always cropped in a weird way, so eveytime I print the image is not a whole. I made sure I selected the right paper size too.
It used to print okay, this happened a while ago but I don't know how it got fixed evetually, I think was after a complete restore of my OS.
I am sure its nothing to do with the Epson driver, becuas after I export the file from photoshop to PDF it prints fine with either preview or adove acrobat.
Has anyone else experienced such problem?
    Thank you!
    Shao

Nope, not using the presets, i still cant figure out why it suddenly cant print right!
btw, thnks for the link, its very useful!!

  • Photoshop CS5 and script issue

i finally found the script that allows u to export layers to file. i was so excited as in my business i have to do this a LOT!!! problem is it FULLY locks EVERY SINGLE layer. can't fix it with the old double click and give it a name. can't add a layer. can't do anything. the layer is now rendered USELESS! great if i'm sending all those layers to a client to look at i guess.
how to i make it NOT lock or unlock it. i have a deadline tonight and now have 400 layers i have to created one by one before midnight because i thought i was done 2 days ago.
and thanks for any help because adobe inc help sucks.
    jacque

It sounds like your using png-8 which would give you files in the index color mode
and that would be why you can't unlock the layers. You would need to choose
    Image>Mode>RGB to unlock the layers.
If you want transparent pngs, use png-24. You can also use psd or tiff to maintain transparency.

  • Fonts missing in Photoshop CS5

I have many DVD case templates I created with Photoshop CS2.  I now have Photoshop CS5.  I am opening these DVD case templates with PS CS5.  There have been several instances where the fonts I used in CS2 is not available in CS5.  Is it possible for me to import these fonts into PS CS5?  If so, how?
    Thanks,
    Angela

One follow-up question concerning the "missing fonts" issue.....
With Photoshop CS5, if the font is missing the program will alert you.  Because of these alerts, I was able to determine which fonts were missing in my Photoshop projects and install the missing fonts.
Unfortunately, Premiere Pro CS5 will use the "next best" font if a font is missing.  Therefore, I was trying to determine which fonts were "incorrect" within my APP CS5 projects and install the missing fonts accordingly.
My question.....I have approx 360 fonts from my XP computer.  Would there be any harm in installing all of these fonts on my Windows 7 computer, to make sure I cover my bases?  Currently, there are approx 300 fonts on my Windows 7 computer.
I have verified that if I try to install a font that is currently on my Windows 7 computer, I will get a prompt asking if I want to replace the existing font.  Obviously in this case, I would not replace an Windows 7 font with a Windows XP font.
    Take care,
    Angela
