  • Photoshop CS6 file/new/presets/custom sizes-where kept?

I'm on a Mac running OSX 10.8.3 and lately I've been losing presets when Photoshop CS6 crashes or I have some other unrelated problem. First it was brushes-I lost the palette of brushes I had built over years and had to drag in an old set from a networked computer. Then it was Workspacees; same tedious solution. Now, after I had to reinstall the OS two days ago, I've lost the custom size presets under File/New/Presets/Custom. But it isn't clear where these presets reside in the system: the prefs, the app plugins, or the settings. Where are they stored, and can anyone tell me why all these preferences or presets seem to be more volatile in CS6 than they were previously? Or is this all a fig newton of my imagination?

On your OS I think the Preferences are hidden from you but you can access them by alt-clicking the »Go« menu in Finder, I think …

I am trying to use the brightness adjustment on a grayscale photoshop CS6 file.  The preview shows the adjustment working and changes the brightness, but when you click to apply the change, it does not apply the adjustment.  I have run into this problem before, although rarely, with some other files over the years and with earlier versions of CS.  I would like to know how to overcome this problem?

Make sure you are viewing your image at 100%. At smaller views, pixels and layers and the way they interact are approximate interpolations and won't show you the actual pixel-for-pixel changes.

  • Do we need to format data and log files with 64k cluster size for sql server 2012?

Do we need to format data and log files with 64k cluster size for sql server 2012?
Does this best practice still applies to sql server 2012 & 2014?

Yes.  The extent size of SQL Server data files, and the max log block size have not changed with the new versions, so the guidance should remain the same.

    Danny,
Topic or subject titles should be clear, pertinent and concise so that individual users can tell at a glance if they can help or not.
That field is not for attempting to fit your entire question in there.
Please keep this in mind next time you post.  Thank you.

  • Editing Photoshop CS6 file using InDesign CS6

I need to edit a Photoshop CS6 file using InDesign CS6. Specifically, I am editing a business card and want to make changes to the layered components (for example: changing color hues, changing logo, changing fonts) and I know nothing about InDesign. Can anyone give me some pointers?

The thing is, I don’t have Photoshop or Illustrator; I only have InDesign CS6 and I want to do the following:
    Deepen the colors
Swap the logo for another one
    Change the font
I am not able to access the layers because I used the place function to insert the jpeg file in the InDesign document. I remember once being able to access the layered document, but I don't remember how. I tried opening the Photoshop file using InDesign, but it doesn't come up as a readable file.

I cannot imagine any problems in doing so, but you can keep your cs6 installation anyway.

  • How do I open a PhotoShop CS6 download with a .7z file extenstion

Downloading, Installing, Setting Up downloaded Photoshop CS6 from adobe and now it's asking me how I want to open the file and gives me various options such as the store, paint, windows photo viewer etc?

You need two files. One with a .exe extension and one with a .7z extension.
Then you double click the .exe file and follow the prompts.

  • Photoshop CS6 - files compatible with all CS versions?

I create designs with Photoshop CS6. Oftentimes they include clipping masks, layers, groups ... . Will my client be able to modify the design with every CS version? Are my designs (made with CS6) 100% compatible with very old CS versions, too?  Or should he/she own a newer version of Photoshop CS?
    Thank you much!

Yes, you have to worry about compatibility. Groups within groups within groups have changed considerably over the years. Before CS3, you could even only have one group level at the root level of the document, no nested groups. That has been expanded ever since. Likewise, per-group masks, clipping paths and layer styles have only been introduced in CS5/ CS6. There's a couple of other things as well like CS6 having changed the order of certain layer styles, but you get the idea. I'm sure if you read some articles or the online help's "What's New" sections for each version, you wil lget the full picture. As long as you avoid these specialty cases and keep your document simple and save it with teh "Maximize Compatibility" option, most files should open in one way or another even in older versions, but there's simply no way to guarantee that each and every bit will be fully editable otehr than in the same version it was originally created.

  • Photoshop CS6 files are compatable with CC files

My college is using photoshop CS6 and I have installed photoshop CC. I was told that files are not compatable between the two.

Standard Photoshop PSD files can be backwards compatible (with the caveats mentioned) – here is a test of saving back from CC to CS6 & CS5:
    http://davecrossworkshops.com/2013/05/10/moving-files-backwards-photoshop-cc
There are also some practices you can use to increase compatibility between versions, not just for Photoshop but for all the Adobe CC apps.

  • Photoshop CS6 file corruption

I am running Photoshop CS6 on a brand new Macbook Pro 13 inch. I haven't even had this computer for 24 hours yet.
I restored my old Macbook Pro's data onto it via a time machine backup, and everything is running perfectly.
    Except for photoshop CS6.
I was working on a project and the file suddenly became corrupted. I closed it without saving and reopened the file, and it was still corrupted. I cannot fix it.
I didn't think to screenshot what had happened, but what it looked like was something like this: IMAGE
    https://sslproxy.getsatisfaction.com/sslproxy/SWhAdDNLMG5zdGFuVGlWenmLbJDGd3CABh jZermgcystANA4T6nd0pzV0fSzBRRGOd17A4b8ZLwi6-HESbXI0oI8AtDl4aRfBg3kqy4nqWHkegDAV9 oe7Qu0tg2F4dXwY7cf4oOvlsPPXgncEG3vYnKiu4-mGNjx3Hhp2a7EBeOBkVbNxYTJFyWWHMjto4x8.p ng
This happened on my old Macbook Pro as well. I thought maybe it was a hardware issue on the old laptop, but now I think it's something else, considering it just happened on my brand new laptop.
Any ideas on how to repair this would be greatly appreciated! I am doing finals work for school and two of the projects are to be done in Photoshop. I can NOT afford to have this glitch happen to my work again.

Have you been keeping up with the updates on PS CS6? While Adobe isn't adding new features to CS6 (as they are to CC) they are keeping up with maintenance issues, bug fixes, etc.
If I were you, I would head to the Adobe Photoshop forum and see if you can find a fix -> http://forums.adobe.com/community/photoshop: a lot more CS6 users there.
    Good luck,

  • Photoshop CS6 - Problems with Canon Easy PhotoPrint Pro!

    Hi,
I have been a user of Photoshop for years, starting with CS2, and upgrading regularly.
Currently, I have Photoshop CS6, working on Windows 8, 64 bit!
With every version of PS, I have installed a Canon add in, called Easy Photoprint Pro.
I have found that this provides the best colour match (monitor/Canon Pixma Pro 9000 printer).
With CS 6, I find that as soon as I try and run Easy Photoprint, Photoshop stops working and closes down! (File >> Automate >> Easy PhotoPrint)
I have down loaded both the latest versions of PS from Adobe com, and Easy Photoprint Pro, from Canon - The latter is claimed to be compatible with Windows 8 and Photoshop CS 6.
I have tried disabling all other programs, at start up, and disabling all non Microsoft services; also disabling my Security suit!
I would be interested in hearing if anyone has experience this problem, and has a solution

The problem has been resolved, I think! For anyone interested,
    (1) I completely uninstalled all Adobe and Canon software and drivers!
    (2) I then deleted all Canon and Adobe folders on my C drive (Program Files & Program Files X 86).
    (3) I then ran REGEDIT and deleted All Canon and Adobe Keys!
    (4) I then ran CCleaner Registry cleaner!
    (5) I then Restarted my computer!
    (6) Finally, I reinstalled Photoshop (Updated on line); reinstalled Easy Photo Print and my Canon Printer Driver!
THIS DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE!
I then repeated steps (1) to (5), but started my PC in SAFE MODE!
I then repeated step (6); namely:I reinstalled Photoshop (Updated on line); reinstalled Easy Photo Print and my Canon Printer Driver!
THIS APPEARS TO HAVE CLEARED THE PROBLEM

  • Photoshop cs6 problems with win8

Problem with cs6 on windows 8 64bit error.

Building a test environment to double check a stock Windows 8 config and Photoshop CS6 is going to take some time.
As it turned out, not so much.
I had saved a snapshot for a Windows 8 x64 virtual machine when I first installed it, and sure enough I was able to restore that snapshot and install Photoshop successfully in just minutes with no problems.
I was able to run Photoshop CS6 x64 13.0.0 just fine.
I then updated to 13.0.1, which again went without a hitch, and now I'm able to run Photoshop CS6 13.0.1 x64 again without problems.
Note that this is a bone stock, freshly installed Windows 8 system without any tweaks whatsoever.  There is just a C: drive and Photoshop's configuration is the stock out-of-box-experience.
I've tried some general dragging and dropping - e.g., of images from Explorer to Photoshop, of layer data from one document to another - with no problems.
I even shut down the virtual machine, added a disk drive (D:), then asked Photoshop to use D: as scratch.  It had no problem with that either.
I am willing to say definitively at this point that there is no systemic problem with Photoshop CS6 and WIndows 8 x64 out-of-the-box, though that's not to say there aren't classes of problems with particular video drivers or on systems where the Windows 8 system was installed as an upgrade to an existing system - or even as a clean install but with disk volumes left over from a prior system.
That last scenario is the one I see causing the most problems - that of having a disk drive formatted under a prior version of Windows, which would have had a different Security ID, and not setting the ownership and permissions so as to allow access by the current username.

  • Photoshop CS6 file saved thumbnail makes file blank??

    Hello,
I've recenlty seen this problem, the file i process in adobe photoshop CS6 comes blank and the previous thumbnail also disappear. I've checked the settings in finder and adobe photoshop cs6 but i didn't change anything there. Can any one help??
i need to submit wedding pictures but blank thumbnail makes me lost track of pictures. I'm attaching a picture below, the first row is what i've processed with adobe photoshop cs6 and the thumbnail disappeared.

I have to make a lot of color corrections because this is film taken from the early 40s to the early 50s. I tried doing it in Avid Studio, Pinnicle studeo and Corel Draws Video Studeo which is what Avid Studio became. None of them alow for the amount of correction allowed in Photoshop. I already owned Photoshop 5 so I upgraded to 6 to take advantage of its advances in video. The plan was to break the converted files up in smaller peices so that Photoshop could handle it and use Premier Pro perhaps to do other post production editing. The origional avi files are a movie about 1 hr and 15 min long and another one about 45 min long. The CODEX is MJPG in avi.
