Photoshop cs6 3d rendering looks different

Hey
I have Photoshop via Creative Clouds and it is great
But I have one question:
Suddenly the 3d rendering looks different. Before it was some squeer boxes that appear on the screen and now they are dissapear and it is just one box with marching ants  around it. How can I get it back?

That difference is because Adobe introduced the new Render Tile Size parameter and defaulted it to Huge.
Note:  You should time your rendering if you decide to make a change.  Using smaller tiles can mean your render times may take a lot longer, depending on the system.  I find my renders go quite a lot faster on Huge.

Why does the Photoshop CS6 Application window look grainy on a 15" MacBook Pro Retina?

Hi. Because the forum you originally posted in is for beginners trying to learn the basics of Photoshop, I moved your question to the Photoshop General Discussion forum.

  • Trying to swap Photoshop CS6 installation to a different computer

I'm attempting to swap Photoshop CS6 from one computer to another. I managed to get the serial number with Belarc, but when I attempted to deactivate the Photoshop CS6 on the 1st computer I am directed to download Adobe Support Advisor which is no longer available.Where do I go from here?

Well it seemed like a simple fix but my coworkers were tired of waiting and purchased a new copy of Photoshop.

  • Fireworks & Photoshop CS6 font rendering

    Hi everyone,
Just a quick question. Has Adobe now unified the font rendering engine for both Fireworks and Photoshop? I've always found that when working with PSD or Fireworks PNG files between the two apps, that fonts get rendered or kerned differently, which is a little frustrating.
I would hope that after 8 years, Fireworks would have no trouble working with PSD files and fonts. I was a bit disappointed to see that things hadn't changed in CS5.5.
One may ask why I don't just use Photoshop all the time. Well, I would, but for doing quick edits of files, Fireworks fits the bill perfectly for working with web graphics. Photoshop is a little more involved for this sort of thing, and sometimes I have to work with PSD files in Fireworks, to export my slices.
Thanks in advance for the comments :-)
    Steve

I love the graphic! Awesome. But that's gotta be the worst pickup line ever.
I'm impressed with how closely you matched the Photoshop versions using FW's Custom Anti-Alias. I've occasionally used text rendered in a web browser—and taken a screenshot of it—when I thought it looked better than Photoshop or Fireworks.
    A few thoughts:
Photoshop CS2 applies kerning by default (it's called "Metrics"). To match that in Fireworks, you'd want to turn Auto Kern on. (This would be the flip side to the approach taken in TrapperKeeper's graphic, where all kerning has been turned off.)
Photoshop used to link up with Image Ready, which was Adobe's answer to Macromedia Fireworks. I imagine it was easier to retain text rendering with that setup, and I'm surprised that Adobe didn't build in some sort of method for preserving text rendering in that type of workflow, when they decided to discontinue Image Ready.
When using Fireworks to create slices of a PSD file with text, a good workflow might be to make a copy of the file in Photoshop, flatten the text, and then use that version to slice up in Fireworks.
Following is a pretty amazing article about text rendering on monitors that includes some insights into Photoshop's Anti-Alias settings:

  • My renders look different on FCP 7!

    Hi,
I've recently upgraded to FCS 3 & Snow Leopard.
At some point I needed to fix an old project created on FCP 6 and re-render it. The project of course opened fine, and I fixed what I needed and sent out to render (Exported QT and then compressed to Animation PAL via Compressor).
Looking at the final render, it looked somewhat odd. I then opened the previously rendered file (done in FCP 6) and played them side by side in QT7.
First of all the aspect ratios were different; although the info palette showed correct sizes for both videos (720x576), the actual size was different, as though one was corrected for 1:1 viewing and the other wasn't. Opening both movies in QTX was weirder: they had the same window size but the newly created movie seemed stretched and cropped to fit 1:1 viewing.
I then opened the movies in VLC, and lo and behold, they both were sized the same.
But the more major issue is that the newly rendered movie looks "softer". The previously rendered movie is crisp and sharp with contrasty colors, while the new one is just milder in color and detail; the difference is not extreme, but noticeable.
I cannot think of any reason why this could happen, because the render settings remained the same. I even tried playing around with different settings, as well as rendering directly from FCP, among other things, but nothing changed.
I'm fresh out of ideas, and quite frankly, pretty frustrated from this, as I need to make a tape master pretty soon.
Is this a bug in QT? FCP7? Snow Leopard? Or just some hidden setting I might have overlooked?
Your help will be much appreciated.
    Thanks

In Quicktime 7 > Preferences... window you should see a bunch of options - make sure that you have checked "Use high-quality video setting when available" and "Enable Final Cut Studio color compatibility". Note also that default gamma handling in Snow Leopard is now at 2.2: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3712

  • Photoshop CS6 Color Management Inaccuracy

Adobe:  Just a reminder, this color-management problem that I reported against Photoshop CS5 is still around:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/3475331
It's illustrated here in this screen grab, showing the visibly inaccurate result of Photoshop's transform, done in the GPU, from RGB values in the ProPhoto RGB color space to the sRGB IEC61966-2.1 color space.  Note the circular banding and color shifts in what should be a perfect gray gradient.
Do you think you could find it in your hearts to fix this before moving on to layer more features on an imperfect code base?
    Thanks.
    -Noel

I would like to include myself in the list to request the Adobe Photoshop CS6 team to look into the discolorization issue. I am using the entry level nVIDIA GT 430 for its basic openCL features for PhaseONE CaptureONE PRO.
I created a 16-Bit monochromatic image in CaptureONEPRO 7 and opened in CS6. My RGB working profile is ProPhoto and my 16-BIT BW TIFF is in the ProPhotoRGB space. With the GPU settings to "Normal" and "Advanced," I could see the discolorization and banding on my images. I have found that if I go to "View" and click on "Gamut Warning," the discolorizatioin seem to disaappear.
Having the GPU to "Basis" clears everything up as Noel Carboni first reported. I only have the banding and discolored appearing when GPU is on "Normal" or "Advanced."
    Yours sincerely,
    Ronald

  • Images that automatically opens in Photoshop CS6

Two images opens every time I start Photoshop CS6. Even if I close them they are back the next time I start Photoshop. How do I get rid of them?

Which operating system are you using?
Probably the Recovery Images that photoshop cs6 saved when photoshop cs6 crashed.
Look for the images in the following places and then you can delete them
    windows
    C:\Users\[Your username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6\AutoRecover
    mac
    ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS6/AutoRecover
You should also be able to right click on one of the image tabs and select either Reveal in Explorer or Reveal in Finder

  • Photoshop CS6 Blur tool controls

Hi, I've been having this problem since the first Photoshop CS6 beta, across multiple different PCs. And the problem is this:
The new blur filters available in CS6 don't have any on-screen controls visible at all (the ones that let you adjust the position and strength and other parameters), like shown in the marketing videos and tutorials. I don't know if it's a Windows specific problem, but I've seen this problem on multiple PCs.
Anyone else have this problem? More importantly, does anyone know a fix for it? I assume it's a widespread problem.
    Cheers,
    Riho

What the... How the... WHY would that be disabled by default? Why isn't it more obvious? God forbid. Sometimes I don't understand where their decisions come from...

  • Adobe Photoshop CS6 Very Slow On Rendering Type

I have a notebook with specification as mentioned below :
    Lenovo Ideapad Y470P
    2nd generation Intel Core i7-2670QM Processor( 2.2GHz 1333MHz 6MB)
    Windows 7 Ultimate x64
    AMD Radeon HD 7690 2GB
    8.0GB PC3-10600 DDR3 SDRAM 1333 MHz
    750GB 5400
I'm using Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64 Bit) for doing my job.
Right now, i have a task to create a banner with dimension 800 x 900 Centimeters with Resolution 300 DPI and Color Mode RGB 16 Bit.
The file size when blank is about 56.1 GB.
The problem is, when i add some text with Horizontal Type Tool and click on the Move Tool, the Rendering Type screen show up and take a very very long time to finished.
I have made some configurations to my Photoshop that i found on Adobe Forum, but the problem still persisted.
Some configurations that i've made is :
    - Turn off the Automatically Save Recovery Information
    - Set Maximize PSD and PSB File Compatibility to Ask
    - Set the Memory Usage to 95%
    - Set the Cache Levels to 8 and Cache Tile Size to 1024K
    - Set the Graphics Advanced Settings to Drawing Mode Advanced, and Check the option Use Graphics Processor To Accelerate Computation, and Uncheck the option Anti-Alias and 30 Bit Display
    - Set the Scratch Disk to another partition ( C:System D:PageFile E:Data F:Scratch Disk)
And after all of that configuration, my Photoshop still slow when Rendering Type.
Could you give me some tips to solve my problem?
    Thanks

300 ppi for a banner that size is categorically not normal.  Guaranteed.
Get specific instructions from the shop that is going to print it.
You keep confusing ppi with dpi.  The resolution of an image file really is expressed in ppi, pixels per inch, not "dpi" which is dots per inch.  The precise terminology is as follows:
DPI = Dots per inch = units used to measure the resolution of a printer
LPI = Lines per inch = The offset printing 'lines' or dots per inch in a halftone or line screen.
PPI = Pixels per inch = the number of pixels per inch in screen/scanner file terms.
Here's a link to a discussion that may interest you:
    http://graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/questions/487/what-ppi-should-a-large-format-artwor k-for-print-be-done-at
It includes the following chart and subsequent comments :
"The rule of thumb is that we need 1.5 to 2 times the LPI in PPI to get acceptable results.
    "Viewing Distance   Present Study
20 feet    greater than 10 LPI
18 feet    18.75 LPI or greater
16 feet    18.75 LPI or greater
14 feet    37.5 LPI or greater
12 feet    37.5 LPI or greater
10 feet    50 LPI or greater
8 feet     65 LPI or greater
6 feet     85 LPI or greater
4 feet     100 LPI or greater
2 feet     133 LPI or greater
1 foot     150 LPI or greater
6 inches   150 LPI or greater
"Presumably, for a banner 3m x 5m, you'd be standing at a minimum of, say, 10 feet. (Just eyeballing the wall here.) So, by this table, you'll need 50 LPI minimum. That would mean your raster graphics should be about 100 PPI, or 75 PPI at 12-14 feet. Considering that and the fact that 2x LPI is pretty conservative for reproducing fidelity (often 1.5xLPI is "enough"), this agrees with [the given] advice of 75 PPI being acceptable."
Talk to your printer.  I suspect they will want a file at under 75 ppi, or even much less.  Follow the printer's advice/request.

I am unable to reinstall Photoshop CS6 (I do have the serial number) on my Macbook Pro 10.9.5 (Mavericks os). and am getting the message "Installation on case-sensitive volumes is not supported.  Please choose a different volume for installation."  I am further told that "Adobe apps cannot be installed on case-sensitive drives, you need to Install the product onto an HFS+ or HFSJ non-case-sensitive drive."
What I don't understand is this:  I originally bought and installed Photoshop CS6 back in March 2013, and it worked fine.  Yesterday my hard drive had to be replaced and my computer person salvaged as much of what was on it as he could, but now I have to reinstall Photoshop.  1) Why did it work before and it's not working now?  2) Is there anything I can do that does not involve reformatting the hard drive?

It means what it says. The "computer person" formatted it wrongly/ unsuitably. it needs to be formatted again.

  • Photoshop CS6 crashes constantly on 2 very different macs, but CS5 running very stable!

    hi
our photoshop cs6 (with latest update to 13.0.4) keeps crashing daily and is not stable at all.
so we would work with cs 5 again, as this version is very stable and wont crash even once in a year.
we are daily/"9-5" working at a photographers´ studio and use 2 different macs:
    - brand new mac pro 6-core (2010/Westmere) with 48GB RAM under system 10.8.3
    - old mac pro with Two 2.66 GHz Dual-core Intel Xeon "Woodcrest" from 2006 with 16GB RAM under system 10.7.6
(both with standard equipped/shipped graphics cards)
cs6 crashes daily whith following tasks:
    - frequent crashs: using "motion blur"
    - frequent crashs: using "refine edge"
    - sometimes using "transform tool"
during our tests, we found out, that "disable graphics card" (photoshop>settings>performance) in the mac pro from 2006, would prevent a crash, when using "refine edge". in the latest mac pro from 2010, we did not find any solution to prevent a crash.
a "crash", we define as follows: during the mentioned tasks, photoshop is gone from the screen in the blink of second, and an osx sign appears "photoshop has crashed"..
    thanks for your time..

As Chris states, this will help us track down your issue.
I agree is Christoph, I would suggest leaving OpenGL/"Use Graphics Processor" enabled and twiddling the Advanced settings for Drawing Mode to "Basic." Then restart Photoshop and see if the problem still persists.
That setting is the main difference between CS5 (Basic) and CS6 (Advanced).

  • Photoshop CS6 looks pixelated on Mac Retina screen

I have Photoshop CS6 running on a MacBook Pro with a 15" retina screen. By default it runs in low-resolution, which makes everything pixelated. When I right-click on the app and go to "Get Info" I see an option to "Open in Low Resolution". When I uncheck it Photoshop opens in high-resolution and it looks beautiful, but it's unusable: I can't click on any of the tools, the sidebars, or anything. So I bring it back to low-resolution and everything works well, except that it looks pixelated again.
I have the 13.0 update (the latest one) and there aren't any additional updates according to Photoshop.
Is there any way to have Photoshop CS6 run in high-resolution?
    Thank you very much!

Thank you, Gene, but that's exactly what I was trying before and it doesn't work. In my OP I explained what happens when I try that:
When I uncheck it Photoshop opens in high-resolution and it looks beautiful, but it's unusable: I can't click on any of the tools, the sidebars, or anything. So I bring it back to low-resolution and everything works well, except that it looks pixelated again.
When I open Photoshop and go to Help > System Info this is what I see:
    Adobe Photoshop Version: 13.0 (13.0 20120315.r.428 2012/03/15:21:00:00) x64
    Operating System: Mac OS 10.10.3
It's not 13.0.6. However, when I go to Help > Updates it tells me that all my applications are already up-to-date.
    Any other ideas?

  • Colors in Photoshop look different elsewhere

When I open a picture in Photoshop CS3 or Camera RAW for editing and then save that picture, and then open the saved picture in any program other than Photoshop, the colors and tints and saturation are very different. I am pretty sure this has to do with my color profile in Photoshop, but I've checked many online sources and my color settings seem to match up more or less with what's recommended. My camera is set to sRGB and Photoshop is set to sRGB IEC61966-2.1, and this is happening both with JPEGs and RAWs, from two different Canon cameras.
Pictures look more natural when viewed in Photoshop than in other programs (I think), even before any editing...how could this be?
The weird things is, when I go to Edit > Assign Profile and then select "Lighthouse (D65 G2.2 A34.29)" from the drop-down menu, the image in Photoshop now looks exactly like it does when I open the same image in an image viewing program. What does this mean?
Also, when viewing my photos in Bridge CS3, the colors look like they do in Photoshop until I zoom in 100% and the photo finishes loading the actual pixels, at which point the colors dramatically change.
How can I edit pictures in Photoshop and Camera RAW when what I'm editing is not what's actually seen? This is very frustrating. Anybody have any ideas?

Thank you both for your replies. My monitor has been properly calibrated, but not for a long time. I know that this will not help when it comes to color representation, but this is not my problem. My problem is that the images in Photoshop look different than elsewhere. I am wondering if there is either a way to make Photoshop display the photos as they will appear on websites and such, or a way to save the photos as they actually appear in Photoshop.
I find it odd that I have not noticed this until recently. There is a very significant difference between the colors in the two environments. If the problem truly has rooted from an uncalibrated monitor, I will simply calibrate it (I would have already but I don't have a calibration device any more). But I don't think that's the whole problem here.
