Photoshop CS6 Application Moved error

Today I have started getting an error message that Photoshop has moved. I only get this message if Photoshop is not running and I right-click on something and choose to Open With Photoshop.
If I launch Photoshop first and then right-click open with photoshop everything is fine. If the Application really had moved then shouldn't Photoshop complain when I double click on it in the Finder or open it through spotlight?
I have read some other threads and it seems their problem was caused by migrating Photoshop from another Mac. That is not my case. Photoshop was working fine last week. No changes over the weekend.
Ideas?

Sounds like you have 2 copies for some reason.
You need to find and remove that second copy.

When I try to open Photoshop CS6 I get "Error Code 16"
I have researched Internet - ADOBE and others - to find a solution, but no luck! (see under)
The problem started around one year ago but I was able to open Bridge and go to Photoshop from there until recently.
Now I get "Error Code 16" in Bridge too when I am trying to go to Photoshop.
I have tried everything I could think of (including creating a new Administrator-user) with help from my Internet research and my own pretty good experience (I started working with computer systems as a Systems Analysts 1968...... - now it is only PCs)
I miss my Photoshop and Bridge a lot - it is very frustrating to have this problem, but I can see I am not the only one!!!
I also have these Adobe products:

Hi. Because the forum you originally posted in is for beginners trying to learn the basics of Photoshop, I moved your question to the Photoshop General Discussion forum.

  • Photoshop cs6 install administrator error - Windows 7 64-bit

I have attempted installation of Photoshop CS6 repeatedly following a fresh installation of Windows 7 64-bit.  Initially running into the error stating Administrator Rights is required to run this upgrade image, I forced it to Run as Administrator.
I forced the installer to verify my Adobe ID at the "Sign In Required" page by selecting "Not your Adobe ID?), then entering my email address and password.
Following selection of both Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64Bit) and Adobe Photoshop CS6 (32Bit), and clicking Install, I receive the error:
    Setup.exe - Application Error
The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b).  Click OK to close the application
Once I click OK, the persistent Administrator error appears:
"Administrator privileges are required in install.  Please log in as an administrator."  I already am logged in as an administrator on this system.
Any solutions to these errors?  I have successfully installed, and ran, Photoshop CS6 on this system (as recently as 3 days ago, before the need to perform the total system wipe, and Windows 7 reinstall)

that's a microsoft error message which can have a number of causes and solutions.
the less likely to work but easy to implement:

  • Photoshop cs6 trial app error c000001d

I have installed the trial version of Photoshop cs6 and after installation and starting the application I get application error c000001d. Any ideas?

Schein wohl an den Fähigkeiten meines Processors Athlon XP 2800+ mit seinen SSE (nicht SSE2) Fähigkeiten zu liegen.

Its a compiler/dependency issue regarding SSE1 indeed. The devs successfully pinpointed the responsible dependencies on CS5 but not on CS6 yet.

  • Application moved error

Today I was adding new icons to my applications and I think I may have accidentally moved or deleted something. Whenever I try to run photoshop, it gives me the 'application has been moved' error and gives me the option to repair it. Every time I click repair but all it does is load the software. I could always do that every time I load it but it gets annoying. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Ahhhh, now I understand. I forgot I had renamed it yesterday to just Adobe Photoshop and I guess that's what did it. I renamed it back to the full title and now it works properly! Thanks so much.

  • Photoshop CS6 EXTENDED Install Error [WINDOWS] *error report included*

    Greetz,
I uninstalled Photoshop CS5.1 ME (Middle Eastern) version from my 64bit operating system (Windows 7 Home Premium) and went on to install CS6 EXTENDED after a fresh restart (I also deleted remaining CS5 folders in "Program Files' Adobe directory"). The setup went fine. But, when it finished, it gave an error message saying that Adobe Photoshop CS6 didn't install or didn't install correctly. From there, I copied the error report/log it gave out:

Photoshop started fine and worked fine (only used it a bit) after the "failed" installation but, the Update option in the Help window was grayed out (trial version, just to let you know). Is that a limitation to the trial version? Or is it straight up an error?
My question is, what did the error report mean and what could be wrong with my currently installed version of PS? BTW, I didn't use Mini Bridge yet, although all of its files are present in the Program Files directory for Adobe.
    Thanks in advance.

Thank you for the reply. I will try the steps listed in the document you linked me to. In case any of the procedures works, I will mark your post as "Correct".
    Thank you, once again.

  • Photoshop CS6 Application Has Moved Message

    Hello Folks,
I keep getting an application has moved message when starting Photo Shop CS6
I have attached a screen grab of the message here. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to keep it from happening each time I start up CS6?
My OS is OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.4
I start up CS6 from my normal location which is the CS6 icon that resides in my dock.
if I select the update button, it has no effect, the application still gives me the same message each time I start up.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Jim

    jasdelta wrote:
I'm not quite understanding the process of the application being moved, can you clarify?…
It simply means that the OS or any other application or utility (installer, updater, cleaner tool, etc) cannot find the expected path to the application.
That can happen through a number of circumstances:
    • the user may have created a subfolder to move the Photoshop application  in a misguided attempt to "organize things", or have moved the whole Photoshop folder elsewhere or the root Applications folder, or renamed them; or
    • the user may have renamed the Hard Disk since Photoshop was installed (say from Macintosh HD to Harry's HardDisk); or
    • any folder or file anywhere in the path to the application has an illegal character in its name, say an apostrophe', asterisk*, slash/, backslash, pound or number sign#, dollar sign$, comma, period, dot, etc.. You should stick to underscores,  numbers and the letters of the English alphabet for naming files and folders); or
    • or the path may appear incomplete because any such folder or file may have become corrupted, damaged or accidentally deleted; or
    • the user originally chose a different install location from the default, or installed the application on a drive other than the boot drive (the one where the OS resides), etc.
The fact that you found all those files in your (hidden) ~/Library (user or home library) makes me suspect that the application has indeed been moved, simply because all the equivalent folders in my own ~/Library are all totally empty, i.e. there are no files in them.
The fact that they are still there on your Mac means that the Cleaner Tool was unable to find them and nuke them because it didn't expect them to be there at all.  That to me raises a red flag.
    jasdelta wrote:
…Can I safely remove all of those old folders before trying a new install? What IYO is the best way to proceed?…
The advice from me and others all along has been to re-install from scratch from the original media, so I see no reason why you should not nuke all those Adobe folders if you know how to do it safely, without messing with anything else in the hidden user library.
I have to stress that I'm still on Lion 10.7.5 and have no plans to move to ML 10.8.x on the machines that can run it.

It appears to happen on multiple Windows 7 64 bit computers that have CS6 installed.
Looking for suggestions of things to try to resolve the issue.
    thanks.

Usually that kind of crash comes from bugs in third party plugins or drivers.

  • Application Moved Error PS 4 Extended

    Hi Folks,
I recently started to get this error message periodically, saying "application has been moved" with a button to cancel or repair. I get it both when opening up PS4 by itself or when pressing Command-E in LR. It does not happen each time and I have selected "repair" but still keep getting it.
No, I have not moved the application from its original place since installing it.
No, I have not deleted my .pref file and restarted, I have a ton of preferences set.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Jim

If you move a PSD, you won't see that error. The error is referring to the application or supporting files for the application. That wouldn't include pictures.
This can happen if you have added a subfolder in your applications for the Creative Suite, or if one of the subfolders in Photoshop was maybe inadvertently dragged into another folder, and now the file path Photoshop is looking for to open, isn't correct.
This is where Time Machine would be a good fix. If you can go back to when the error started and restore Photoshop from Time Machine, it'll most likely work again.
Otherwise, reinstalling is the best option.

  • Application moved error and question marks for dock app icons - related?

i am reposting this in the Mac Pro forum in addition to the Mountain Lion forum as i have been posting various issues on the mac pro here and i have gotten great help in solving them. also i am hoping to put a finishing touch on my computer setup after having done a FRESH INSTALL of the OS on both my computers with a manual migration of data (no Library items) so as to try and resolve old issues. i hope the experts on the list do not mind this posting and/or can offer advice on this specific issue.
i am getting the attached error this morning on my MacBookPro (Mountain Lion) and have gotten it before on my Mac Pro (Lion). i have had to do a fresh install of the OS and a manual migration of my data (no Library settings etc) due to slightly similar issues.
does anyone know what this errror is saying has happened?
i /did/ have an additional internal hard drive on the MAC PRO that Spotlight was indexing and which i had to take off of the Spotlight indexing functionality but this does not explain in any way (since there are no additional HD's on my macbookpro) why it just happened this morning on the macbookpro.
is this related to an issue where there may be QUESTION MARKS (instead of an app icon) in the dock in some of my other software?? i have one of these on my MBP and one on my MacPro even after the fresh install.
    TIA

The Dock stores Aliases to the actual Applications. When you get a question Mark, it is caused by a Bad Link. The Application may have changed versions, moved, or been deleted. There is nothing especially magical about this. You can remove a Bad Link by dragging the link off the Dock, or add a proper link by dragging the Application Icon onto the correct area of the Dock.
OS X Mountain Lion: Customize the Dock
Apple-installed Applications need to remain in the Applications folder so that they remain protected and can be updated properly. The Installer will attempt to add links that point to the current Applications in the Applications folder, but if you have a pre-existing Bad Alias your bad Alias will not be Trashed. This may give you either the "moved..." message, or the Question Mark Icon in the Dock, or a grayed-out Icon with a "prohibited sign" if you have added things not appropriate for this version of Mac OS X.
