Photoshop CS6/Camera RAW 8.8 Inconsistent Color Edits

I just updated my Windows Photoshop CS6 to 13.01x64 and my Camera Raw to 8.8.0.397. My issue since updating is when I open a RAW file and edit it in that window, when I click 'Open Image' and it converts it into the Photoshop window (to further edit), the colour is very different than it was in the RAW window. Below is an example where I went extreme to show the issue. The left is the RAW window and the right is when it converted to after I clicked 'Open Image'. It's much more muted and the colours are quite different. You can see the difference especially in his face. I'm beginning to feel desperate. Can anyone help?

I'm not seeing it with CC 2014.2.2 and ACR 8.8, but then again it's a different PS version and different RAW.
Maybe something happen with color settings in Photoshop?

    Thank you

    Hi, rich_fred.
As the Canon G15 is a very new model, support is not yet available through Camera Raw. In the meantime, try out the software that came with you camera, to see if it can export a TIF or JPEG, which should open up in Photoshop just fine.
Hopefully support for the G15 will be available in the next Camera Raw update. You can find a list of supported cameras here: http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/extend.html

  • Photoshop CS6 Camera Raw 8.2 update fails

    I am on OS X 10.8.4, Photoshop CS6, ACR 8.1.
The "A" icon on my menu bar shows 1 update available.
When I open the CC updater, it says Photoshop CS6 is up to date.
When I open Photoshop CS6 and go to Help/Updates, it shows "Photoshop Camera Raw 7 0.0KB". Note the 7 not 8.
When I click "Update", I get "Adobe Application Manager quit unexpectedly".  Following are the first few lines of the dump. Is there a way to get past this?

  • Unable to open RAW files with Photoshop CS6 - Camera Raw

    Hi all,
I'm trying to open .CR2 files from a Canon 450D on Photoshop CS6 as well as with Lightroom 4 but it doesn't work.
I've updated the Adobe Camera Raw to its latest edition (8.8), but anyway, when I try to open them it appears the message below: It basically says that photoshop is not able to open the file, make sure that you have installed the latest edition of Camera Raw and to visit the link for further info...
After looking for solutions on Internet, I've also tried to convert the RAW files into DNG, but Adobe DNG converter says that the folder does not contain any RAW file, though they are all .CR2 files...
I've tried several times in many ways... Any help would be much appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

    Hi Benjamin,
You were right. It was the camera's provided software transfer system. I've copied them directly from the (same) card to the desktop and works.
    Many many thanks! Cheers

  • Photoshop CS6 Camera Raw help

I just downloaded CS6.  I can not open my camera raw files.  It says that it is not supported.  I looked for the plug-in update but can't find it

First make sure you have installed all the CS6 updates. CS6 was the buggiest release of Photoshop Adobe ever released.  ACR the camera raw plugin was also updates several times since CS6 was released. Use Photoshop menu Help>Updates  to make sure all CS6 updates have been installed.

  • Photoshop CS6 Camera raw crashes Windows 8

I have installed Windows 8 over the existing Windows 7 64 bit system, under which I have been using CS6 for several months now. I process all  my pictures in Camera Raw first.
Today I just needed a simple crop, which I tried in Camera Raw. The screen turned black and the computer had crashed. I repeated that two times, reproducibly Windows 8 failed during the crop operation. During the last try, I just did distortion removal, exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows, clarity, but did no crop. That worked.

Do you see a crash report that you can post here for us?
Also, can you open a JPG directly in PS (Not using ACR), try to use the crop tool? See if this also crashes?

  • I have a Canon 5D Mk lll/Photoshop & Bridge CS6/Camera Raw 7.1 and I still can't open the CR2 files

    I have a Canon 5D Mk lll/Photoshop & Bridge CS6/Camera Raw 7.1 and I still can't open the CR2 files on my Canon.
Any insight/wisdom would be much appreciated. Thanks

When you try to open in PS what happens?
In Bridge do you see icons or thumbnails?
Will it open in ACR in Bridge?

CS6 Camera raw 7.0.0.308 : can't find manual defringe tool, only automatic by checking a box. The lens effect tool only offers custom and manual panel. No colors for manual defringing. ??

You should update your camera raw plugin to version 8.3

  • Camera Raw 8.7.1 color issues

After the recent camera raw update to 8.7.1 I have noticed some pretty bad color shifts between camera raw and photoshop cs6. The colors in camera raw look very saturated and then when moving into photoshop the saturation shift is pretty dramatic. I never had these issues before the update. I have attached a screenshot illustrating the color issue. I am working on a very good monitor ( NEC PA 242W ) and it is color calibrated using NEC Spectraview calibration system. I have double checked my color setting in photoshop and camera raw to make sure I was viewing the same color space. I am just wondering if this is maybe a bug in the update and others are experiencing the same issues or if I am just missing something.
I would also add that I am using the Creative Suite CS6 and not CC. If that makes a difference.

Thanks ssprengel for the suggestions and running a side by side yourself. I went through all my settings and applied your suggestions and did a side by side each time. I even uninstalled the entire creative suite on my system then reinstalled and updated and I still get the same outcome. It was fine yesterday with the previous version of ACR. It seems like the updated version is not showing the image preview in any color space. When I switch the color space in the workflow options the histogram changes but it doesn't seem to affect the preview window. And yes the preview button was checked on it was just when I was using the screen grab tool in windows it took focus away from the application so that is why the settings appear grayed out. I have attached more screen grabs below illustrating all my settings. Also here is some system info if anyone out there has a similar setup and would be willing to test.

  • CS6 Camera Raw - I can now only crop using aspect ratio in the custom crop setting rather than being able to set the dims in cm and inches? anyone know how to revert? ever since installing new mac operating system things have been strange!

CS6 Camera Raw - I can now only crop using aspect ratio in the custom crop setting rather than being able to set the dims in cm and inches? anyone know how to revert? ever since installing new mac operating system things have been strange!

    Hi Kglad.
I have looked at all of my settings both in Bridge and CS6 Photoshop regarding Camera Raw. I am at a loss how to set the crop tool in cm or inches as I once did - now the only option is to crop using ratios of 1:1 etc etc - This is infuriating as lots of my square crops I could set at 10" x 10'' specifically to print one to one to fit frame and mount size -
Now if cropping using bloody aspect ratio of 1:1 (square) the actual dims of the crop are roughly 4.25 inches x 4.25 inches. this means I then have to open the whole image in photoshop in order to crop at the dims I have set! It was so much quicker in terms of batch cropping in camera raw being able to set dims in centimetres and inches but they have gone and mucked around with it, with the new bloody update! Unless you are an absolute genius and know how I can go back to having an option of CM, Inches and aspect ratio within the custom crop settings? (Please say you do)
here is the new tutorial for CC -  my guess is they have scrapped the control we had over the custom crop settings

  • CS6 Camera Raw 7.4 "will not open" compatible D800 NEF Raw files (Win7)

CS6 camera raw 7.4 "will not open" the compatible D800 NEF Raw files (Win7). D300 NEF files open OK.
I seem to remember seeing an article that stated i would have to uninstall and re-install CS6 Photoshop completely and re-install again. However I cannot find this article now.
If the above is true, having PS version CS4 with update CS5 & 6 installed, would i have to remove all PS versions.
Photoshop error message just states download latetest software version, which i have done with ACR 7.4. I have also tried ACR 8 which did open file either.
Also when ACR8 is hosted by Photoshop CS6, it does not offer any of  the new features described in Photoshop CC marketing materials for ACR8 (Re: DPReview mag) so i returned to 7.4
Adobe DNG runs OK but i would rather deal with the original file in ACR rather than adding an additional step with more files to keep track of.
Is there a way of uninstalling all versions of ACR, cleaning system and re-installing ACR, assuming the fault lies with ACR?
    Anyone have any answers?
    Malc

Half an hour after posting this query (in the wrong forum) I resolved the issue. The fault lies with Nikon Transfer.
Nikon Transfer corrupts the D800 NEF files. Apparently Nikon Transfer is well known for causing errors.
Drag & dropping the files direct from the memory card onto your hard drive and everything works fine.

  • Updated ps cs6 camera raw to 8.4 on mac os 10.5.8 now cannot revert to 8.2

Updated ps cs6 camera raw to 8.4 on mac os 10.5.8 now cannot revert to 8.2 to view and open cr2 files. I would rather not uninstall any programs, would rather remove manually and install 8.2. I Have several adobe programs and no clue where serial numbers are to even think about uninstalling all to reinstall, just to fix a plug in. Please help
    me.

It's a bit of a work around, but you can uninstall PS CS6 [and perform a clean install / don't update the software afterwards for camera raw] and manually install the CR 8.2 update:
    CS6

kglad is right the update 8.4 should not result in issues. Please check the Photoshop Family Customer Community for issues.

  • Photoshop CS6 updated Raw and now get message saying "Could no complete your request the file was not found." Help

I updated CS6 Camera Raw as it would not read my D7100 raw files. Since that I cannot open jpegs.
Also, I go to Photoshop - About Plug-In - Camera Raw and get a pop up window saying "Could not complete the Camera Raw command because the file was not found."

I apologize, guess I wasn't very good in giving info. It is on a Mac running Snow Leopard. I did the CS6 updates through Help/Updates but that did not update to where my camera (Nikon D7100) raw files could be read. I searched around on Adobe's site for the Camera Raw update that took care of reading them, forget what page I finally found a download link on but the update was a singular installer for Camera Raw. Once updated Photoshop CS6 stopped being able to 'find files' even when the file is dragged onto the Photoshop icon, or through the menu's Open. I have since uninstalled everything reinstalled the suite from the original installer. I know have a Photoshop that will open jpegs but just not my camera's raw files. Thanks for any help that you think might take care of the problem. I am not going to update the Camera Raw unless I can find out what happened and what to do to prevent it. I switched my camera to take jpegs until if and when I solve the mystery. :-) Thanks!
