Photoshop CS6 Extended 64bit - histogram clipping issue
CS6 clips the histogram (black and white point) when reducing a 16bit TIFF file from 7000px wide to let's say 1280px wide. CS5 does not using the same steps. Windows 7 ultimate 64bit - I7 -24GB RAM.
Anybody has had this issue? Is there a setting in CS6 to modify the reduction algo (binning, bicubic or other) that CS5 uses?
The CS6 factory-default of Bicubic Automatic results in Bicubic Sharper and Bicubic Smoother when reducing and increasing pixel count, respectively. Sharper tends to create hideous oversharpening halos (hence the observed clipping in the histogram) but, hey, Adobe says that's best [rolls eyes].
Change the default resampling to plain Bicubic in Preferences > General.
Note that CS6's Transform mode has an independant resampling control in Options bar when a raster layer is targeted. The default for that is Bicubic Automatic so you probably want to set it to plain Bicubic, too.

Photoshop CS6 Extended 64bit scratch disk error
I'm unable to point CS6 to the alternate scratch drive despite changes in permissions. I noticed my boot drive (C:) is actually Disk 1, not Disk 0, and my scratch disk (internal) is Disk 0. I can select an external drive (I:) with no issues, but that is a 2TB drive I use for data. So, I'm curious whether the mix-up with the boot disk order has anything to do with CS6 not being able to access the disk I want to designate as the scratch disk?
I'm assuming you're running Windows 7, though you haven't said, specifically.
Keep in mind that with Windows 7 UAC makes you "look" to the system like a plain old non-privileged user, even if you're logging in using an account in the Administrators group.
Is the username you're logging in with actually literally "administrator"?
Can you post screen grab(s) showing the permissions for the username you log in with on the root folder, the Photoshop scratch settings, and any other info that might be pertinent?
Does the problem go away if you run Photoshop As Administrator?
Does the problem go away if you temporarily disable UAC and reboot?
Another user here gave up trying to run with UAC enabled just the other day and his problems were solved. It shouldn't be necessary, but...

Photoshop CS6 Extended (via creative cloud) Flashes when clicking on canvas and ..
photoshop cs6 extended (64bit) flashes black when clicking on canvas or on a layer. I can't get anything done, I have already uninstalled and reinstalled... all other Creative Cloud apps work fine.
I';m using windows 8.
If anyone has any idea of what is going on or can help in any way, please let me know.

KellyThat is a known bug in Windows 8. We're working with the GPU vendors and Microsoft to get it fixed.
In the meantime you can set the Photoshop GPU mode to "Basic".
If you have an AMD GPU, you probably want their 13.2 beta drivers. -
Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended Activation Issue
After installing Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended with the Serial Number, it became Trial version. Telling me to insert Serial Number every so often. Any Solution?

Anyone know whats wrong with the Photoshop CS6/Extended Download? It starts and remains at 0.00MB and its not my internet. Ive downloaded other files just fine * Attempted * its just the CS6.

I can no longer use 3D commands in Photoshop CS6 Extended
I have Photoshop CS6 Extended (Ver 13.0.1x64). My desktop is Windows 7 64 Home premium; and Video card is: AMD Radeon HD 5570. The drivers and operating system is updated.
I have been using simple 3D functions like "New 3D extrusion from..." from time to time without any problems until recently. For unknown reasons now when I try to invoke any 3D command, I get the following message: " Could not complete the "New 3D extrusion from selected layer command because of a program error." This ,message gets repeated for any 3D command.
I checked out 3D functionality in Photoshop CS6 32 bit; and Photoshop CS5.5 Extended. Same problem. However, I can access and use all 3D functions in Illustrator CS6. Clearly, therefore, the video card is not the problem. It looks like one of the recent software updates from Adobe must have caused this problem.

I am running a TRIAL VERSION of Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended and Bridge does not open. Help?
I am running a TRIAL VERSION of Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended on MAC and Bridge does not open. It did open when I first downloaded it - but now a black question mark is over the BR icon and it does not open up. Any ideas from anyone?

I just thought it was interesting and helpful to me to learn that the icon for Bridge does not appear anywhere. Not in Application Folder. Not in the Finders Directory Files. I see your point - if I could locate that icon - I'd be set by dragging it onto my DOCK and launching it from there.
So - I'm assuming I need to uninstall CS6. Please list all the steps for me to uninstall so that I don't miss any CS6 files.
When I search in FINDER for CS6 uninstall- I see two icons - red adobe "UNINSTALL ADOBE PHOTOSHOP CS6" (both files are identical) Under KIND they both say Alias - with two different dates they were last opened (in November - few minutes apart). Is that what I use to uninstall completely all the files related to PS CS6 Extended as well as Bridge?
Do I need to DEACTIVATE ANYTHING ANYWHERE?
DOES ANYTHING NEED TO GO INTO TRASH.
I just want to make sure 'everything' related to CS6 Extended is off my computer and out of all the files. In the event i want to re-install - naturally I don't want to run into any conflicting 'issues'.
Do you think if I reinstall I will run into this same problem again (BR not launching)? Is there anything I can do to prevent it? I note on the forums - going a few years back - that there have been a lot of issues related to this same problem - even in other versions of the Creative Suite. Is Adobe doing anything to rectify this problem for us Photoshop CS Suite lovers or is all their focus just going into CC?
Thank you so much for trying to help me resolve this issue. It is very frustrating to have an Adobe product that is not completely functional. Especially when the Creative Suites are so expensive. I appreciate all the time you've put into this issue.

Saving files in Photoshop CS6 Extended (Mac)
I just got Photoshop CS6 Extended (Mac) and am unable to save files (eg .psd) as a .jpg -- if I select the JPEG option, although that is ticked, it appears in the filename above as .gif or .eps WHY?? Also, why do I have to select 'Enable' and scroll down a huge list to 'All Readable Documents' before I can open, say, a JPEG? I've never had to do this in previous versions (and I've been using PS since v.2 -- not CS2 -- !) I am in RGB and 8-bit and the images are flattened. This is most frustrating. . .
Restoring/trashing the Preferences can alleviate some unexplainable Photoshop problems, but make sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved before performing that routine.

Photoshop CS6 Extended crashing when using Oil Paint filter
I replaced a standard hard drive with a new SSD drive and did a fresh install of Windows 7 and all of my programs. I made sure all Win 7 updates, program updates and drivers are current. The good news is Photoshop CS6 Extended loads much faster. The bad news is now Photoshop crashes when I attempt to use the Oil Paint filter. The only hardware change is the new SSD, I haven't changed any video devices and I never had any issues running the Oil Paint filter before I swapped out hard drives and did the software reinstallations. I've tried the OpenGL Drawing Mode in basic, normal and advanced, and still get crashes when attempting to use oil paint. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Installed TWAIN devices: NONECrash info helps, but it would seem that you just see the old "intel chips don't cut it" problem. Turn of the intel graphics unit in the driver or even in the BIOS/ EFI. Perhaps updating your storage/ SATA driver when installing the SSD simply has re-enabled it.

Photoshop CS6 Extended Slow Load ("Measuring Memory...")
Hi guys!
Sorry English is not my native language.
I am run Photoshop CS6 Extended 64-bit (from design premium) on Windows 7, 64-bit with 8GB RAM.
When I first start PS, it looks like it freeze on the text "Measuring Memory". If I wait for about 30 seconds, it will eventually load and everything works fine. No issues with Save for Web or anything.
I have read the other threads on this and tried all of these solutions:
Checked my ram in memtest (15 passes, no error)
Trash preferences and open again
Un-install and re-install (tried twice)
Updated PS to latest with Adobe Update
Reboot machine
This happen when I first run Windows, so lack of RAM is not the issue. I have no printers, other hard drive, or remote network drive attached to machine. Scratched disk is set to the boot disk (C:\)
If it help, Illustrator CS6 and InDesign CS6 load normally.
Do you have any suggestions to fix this? Thank you!

You've done all the things a reasonable person would do... Some other things I might suggest are:
1. Check to ensure your display driver is up to date - go to the web site of the maker of your video card, not Microsoft.
2. Try disabling the Use Graphics Processor setting in Edit - Preferences - Performance, and restart Photoshop.
3. Remove any 3rd party plug-ins (reinstall won't remove plug-ins, so I thought I'd mention it).
4. Check to see if you have the same behavior with the 32 bit Photoshop as the 64 bit Photoshop.

Photoshop CS6 Extended for Mac Failure to Install
I purchased the student addition for my iMac (10.8 version and plenty of space for it to be on my computer) of the Photoshop CS6 extended. When I go to my orders to download, you have to download the Akamai Download Manager 834 KB, which I did, and it opened up the download instructions from the Akamai net session interface. Then I went to download the actual product. Akamai Download Manager 1.01 GB, which I did and that puts the visual 'disc' image on my computer. Once I open that, I open the adobe Photoshop CS6 folder and it starts to download but stops and says
'We've encountered the following issues
Installer failed to initialize. Please download Adobe Support Advisor to detect the problem"
Well that's funny when you click on that, it's discontinued. When I go to the support section, it doesn't help. Nor does the Phone representatives actually help with any Creative Suite products.The online chat though it is within hours, they aren't helping either. I have tried the CC cleaner app, which did nothing to alleviate my problem, and even actually tried download CC to see if it had the old version of photoshop on there-which it does not. As well as accessing the 'hidden' user library files to see if I could override with an install log if in case I had a faulty code. Which I could not find/did not seem to appear to be one. ( Troubleshoot with install logs | CS5, CS5.5, CS6, CC)
What can I do for this to work? Am I missing something? I really need photoshop and I don't want creative cloud. I'd rather shoot myself in the head. Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended 64-Bit GPU Acceleration Stopped Working
I've been using Photoshop CS6 Extended 64-bit when one day the GPU acceleration features stopped working. I closed the application and restarted it and the GPU acceleration still didn't work. I couldn't rotate the canvas or use scrubby zoom. I rebooted my system and it still wasn't working. I check my performance preferences and my graphics processor was detected with the "Use Graphics Processor" box checked. I unchecked it and rechecked but the GPU acceleration still wasn't working. I uninstalled Photoshop CS6 and reinstalled it. I got the GPU acceleration to work opening the application right after the install. I close Photoshop CS6 64-bit and reopened it and the GPU acceleration wasn't working again. I am able to use GPU acceleration features in Photoshop CS6 32-bit with no problem. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit Ultimate Edition and I have a GeForce 280m GTX GPU. Would there be anyone out there who can help me with this issue. Thanks.
From what I gathered on this Forum there is a good chance that it may be related to the driver – unfortunately it could be either becasuse it’s obsolete or a bad new version.

3D Menu not displayed Photoshop CS6 Extended
Hi all,
I have just installed Photoshop CS6 Extended from adobe.com as the trial, but after installing it I don't see the 3D menu at the top.
I have tried reinstalling several times but still no 3D menu.
I have a ASUS GTX550Ti graphics card with 1gb of ram so I thought this would be sufficiunt.
Also running windows 7 64bit.
Any help appreciated.

PaulPeople report this from time to time. Adobe's response has been along the lines of "of course the trial will show you the 3D menu", ignoring the fact that a user is reporting that it doesn't.
Did you get the Photoshop trial software directly from Adobe.com?
It's not a problem with your hardware being insufficient, because if the GPU or OS/driver weren't up to the task the 3D menu would be there, just grayed-out. That you're not seeing it says that the installer has done something wrong and has set up the trial to run as the Standard edition somehow.
Unfortunately, no one has reported a sure way to make the Extended features show up in the trial so far, since mostly the problem has been dodged, but here's what I'd suggest.
Uninstall the trial, then run the Adobe Create Suite Cleaner Tool, then try a reinstall.

Problems installing Photoshop CS6 Extended
Hello to whoever is reading this - I have a problem installing Photoshop CS6 Extended (as you can guess from the title) due to the fact that I download a pre release version of it (not the beta) And I've looked everywhere on my laptop and I still can't install the trial even though I've deleted everything relevant to the pre release version, it can't be my normal version of Photoshop CS5 can it? It'sonly occured to the Photoshop CS6 Extended trial, all the other Creative Suite trials from Adobe Download Assisstant work.
Check the start page of this forum or the PS forum. There used to be special threads listed in teh yellow info boxes with info on how to resolve these issues.

Disc Space error on Photoshop CS6 Extended install
I am attempting to install Photoshop CS6 Extended (win version) on my Windows 7 ( 64 bit) machine. Core 2 duo CPU @3.16gh with 8 gb or ram.
The machine meets all the minimum requirements and has more than enough disc space.
This is the error I get during initial extraction. "A problem occured while extracting some files. Check available space on your computer and write privileges on the destination folder. "I am the admin, the folder has permissions set correctly.
Also, I tried to read the "installation instructions" found in the CD and am unable to read the file as it says it is corrupted. Anyone else running into this issue?if that's a problem with your cd, download a trial of ps cs6 and install/activate using your serial number:
